This place had been on my list to try forever! And it was well worth the wait! Restaurant was beautiful, wished I had a slightly more comfy seat/table but it was packed on a Friday night. Our waiter was very nice. Professional, not super friendly but very refined lol. When we got to choose our knives to go with our steak, that's prob when we were like oh maybe we don't quite belong but whatever lol I think we chose an oyster shell handled knife because it looked pretty. Food was phenomenal. I still dream about the ribeye steak, the bone marrow and the scallop dishes. I had a very decent espresso martini and a glass of red wine with the steak. Lovely dinner for a special occasion or to celebrate. Pricey but definitely worth it if you love a good steak.

Barclay Prime delivers one of the most memorable upscale dining experiences in Philly. The seating options are excellent, from cozy tables to plush booths and a lively bar area, all set in a space that feels elegant yet comfortable. The famous cheesesteak is the star here and absolutely deserves the attention it gets. Made with premium wagyu beef, foie gras, and truffled cheese whiz, it's rich, indulgent, and unlike any cheesesteak you'll ever have. Yes, the price tag is high (you'll definitely notice it), but it's one of those over the top Philly experiences that's worth doing once or twice just to say you did it. Outstanding service, great ambiance, and a unique take on a city classic make Barclay Prime a must visit for a special night out.

Had reservations on Valentines Day. Seated promptly& our server was great. Beautiful restaurant inside with cozy seats & dim lighting. They have a bar with smaller tables too which is tight, at least it was on this particular busy Sat night. The food - Yes I am one of those rare people that doesn't like pink for their steak. I ordered my filet well-done but it came out pink so had to send to back. We weren't really a fan of the creamed spinach but the truffle mashed potatoes were very good. We also ordered soup & salad which were fine. My hubby liked his bread and asked for more, but it never came. At the price point, and having to send my steak back while my hubby ate his, unsure if we'll be back. 3.5 experience but yelp doesn't allow that.

Is in the best steakhouse in Philly, most likely. Prime is at a different level than most spots. All menu options are top tier, flavors out of bounds, and experience is the BAR. What we snagged: -Pre drinks. $25 a pop. Fine? -Sliders (WOW) -White Tail (WOW x2. Like butter) -Bone Marrow (Also, like butter) Mains: -Bone in Filet -NY strip -Sea Bass All mains were fire. High quality meat, and great cook on all. Will I be back? Maybe. A $800 check for 3 was crazy, but we had adult beverages. I'm sure you could get in and out for under 200$.

Our 2025 day-after-Christmas sumptuous dinner location was Barclay Prime. Let me tell you, the hubby and I made a great choice. The restaurant is beautiful and I liked that when we walked in, the feeling was upscale and warm, very balanced though. Not so huge that it felt like a cavern, but not so small that there was no room to move around. We were greeted well immediately, with two hostesses who smiled and talked with us. Great opening. We checked out coats and were ushered right to our table. Our waiter was so attentive and so knowledgeable about the menu and the offerings. We felt so comfortable ordering. My drink choice was the Love Potion #9 and it tasted fine. I would have liked it to be a little stronger, but it was fine. Hubby and I shared the Chopped Salad and it was so good I wanted to steal the recipe. Overall, I have to say that the steaks, lamb, truffle Mac and cheese, and the snicker upside down dessert we ordered were all top shelf. Nothing bad to mention! Seriously. With food and service so high quality, I can understand why Barclay Prime was filled with diners on a cold winter evening with icy streets. Barclay Prime is simply a wonderful steakhouse for classy dining. I recommend!

    Japanese Wagyu Kobe Beef

Excellent fancy steak night with a multitude of options and a waiter who knew his stuff! He was able to speak about the different Japanese wagyu they offer and tell me subtle differences. They do have an extensive menu and it is on the pricier side. Ambiance was elegant but there were some men with T shirts so it is not a black tie type of establishment. 1. Japanese Wagyu Kobe Striploin 5oz - $210; pricey. Melt in your mouth perfection. Came with a gold plaque/crest which according to the waiter, Barclay Prime is one of 40 in the USA to be officially authorized to sell Japanese Wagyu Kobe Beef. They even let you select your knife to use. It is quite an experience which is not my norm. Overall, a fancy night, pricey but well worth it! Did have a piece of American wagyu and it was so good also. Highly recommended.

What a stellar dinner experience! The vibe is immaculate, from the dignified elegance of the armchairs at each table to the perfect lighting. We always look for an outstanding steak place when we travel and Barclay Prime now has a place in our universal top three. Janelle was engaging and knowledgeable and the service was top notch. One top moment was when she presented us with a selection of five steak knives, explained the background and history of each, and let us choose (see pics)! So fun and unexpected; my husband picked the one of Japanese craftsmanship and I picked the one with the coolest handle. The steaks were impeccable. Mine was a delicious medium rare (so easy to cut with my fancy knife!), his cooked to his medium plus preference, and everything we ordered with was excellent; the green beans are a simple an delicious pick. The crab cake to start was meaty and great to split. The popovers with warm salted butter were a treat. A wonderful fancy dinner that made the trip even better!

Ana, the hostesses, and the rest of the staff were so hospitable, accommodating, and welcoming. My boyfriend and I went to Philadelphia on a whim and he wanted to try their famous cheesesteak here. Unfortunately, it is very well worth the price tag. It is rich, decadent, and very flavorful. It was perfect to share. The restaurant itself was luxurious, inviting, and warm. We had such a wonderful time on such a last minute trip. Thank you, Barclay Prime! We'll be back in April for the full dining room experience. P.S. Try the Cereal Killer cocktail for dessert. OMG best cocktail ever.

Elegance and extravagance await at Barclay Prime. Staff were all impeccable and the decor / atmosphere is warm and luxurious without being stuffy. You are very well taken care of here. Wagyu slider duo was tender, juicy, and rich. A sample of the flavor of wagyu beef allowed to shine. NY strip was seared and cooked through perfectly. Roquefort drizzled on top enhanced the savoriness of the meat. Top tier cut of meat. Truffle Mac and cheese was creamy and hearty, but the richness of the steak overpowered it. (My fault for a bad pairing!) Closed dinner off with the red fruit pavlova - quite tart yet sweet, topped with fresh berries and gold leaf. Meringue sweetness balanced out the strong tart berry flavor, great end to the meal. Drink and wine menu is quite extensive, went with a Last Word. Top steakhouse in Philly, great way to celebrate for a rewarding meal or a special occasion. Thanks

Barclay Prime is absolutely worth the hype and the splurge. We went on a Monday night at 6:00 PM and felt lucky to get in. By 7:00, the back dining room was completely full, and it was clear this place fills up fast. From the moment we walked in, the tone was set. Jackets were taken, we were escorted straight to our table, and the space immediately pulled you in, dim lighting, soft music, and a moody, polished atmosphere that feels special without trying too hard. This is the kind of room you settle into and know you are in for a great night. Ricky was our server and guide for the evening, and he truly made the experience. Attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, he struck that perfect balance of being present without hovering. A standout moment was when he helped my wife create a custom spicy dirty martini that was not on the menu and nailed it. Cocktails were excellent all around, the BP Old Fashioned, Manhattan, and the Whiskey in Paradise with coconut-washed Buffalo Trace all delivered. The popover with drinks was a great opener, followed by appetizers that set the pace perfectly: shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, scallops, lobster bisque loaded with lobster meat, and a beautifully fresh hamachi crudo. We leaned fully into a meat-forward night and were glad we did. The 35-day dry-aged porterhouse, Japanese A5 Wagyu strip loin, and American Wagyu bone-in ribeye were all cooked perfectly medium rare and honestly melted in our mouths. One of the most fun touches of the night was when Ricky brought out a selection of knives and let us choose our "weapon," a small detail that added a memorable, old-school steakhouse feel. Everything paired beautifully with a 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon from Pride Vineyards. Dessert kept the momentum going. The banana crème brûlée had just the right crunch, with thinly sliced banana and house-made Nilla wafers that paired perfectly with the custard, while the red fruit pavlova was light, crisp, and full of fresh flavor. After-dinner drinks, including a cereal milk cocktail and an espresso martini, were the perfect final note. The price point is exactly what you would expect for a top-tier steakhouse like Barclay Prime, and the food, service, and overall experience absolutely justify it. This is an ideal date night spot, a celebration destination, or a swanky night out with friends. Huge thanks to Ricky for elevating an already great meal into a memorable evening. Worth the hype, worth the splurge, and we will absolutely be back.

    40 day dry aged ribeye
    Granger L.

I had the BEST ribeye steak and creme brulee I've ever had here. That texture and flavor of that steak was just incredible. I got the 40 day dry aged steak and I will remember that steak for the rest of my life. It was so cool they let you choose out of a case of knives which knife you want to use too. It felt like picking a sword from a legendary armory!

This place is very moody and chic. Came with family but this would make for an amazing date night spot! The steak was absolutely incredible and getting to pick your own knives was a fun touch. The desserts were amazing as well! Came for an early dinner reservation and definitely suggest it. It gets pretty loud as the evening goes on and the place fills up.

I've called Barclay Prime to make reservations and sent a couple emails as my party size is 7. We are celebrating my son's 21st birthday and I'm not sure how else to contact anyone regarding this reservation. Any idea?

They have a website where you can make a reservation.

    1) Is reserving a table through the website only for the indoor seating? 2) Do we have to reserve ahead of time to eat at Barclay during the COVID pandemic.

Hi Jan - you can also call the restaurant directly to make reservations. Thank you!

    Are jeans allowed?

I think generally something smart casual will work. So black jeans, a nice top, and flats would probably be totally fine! But maybe not ripped jeans with a tank top

Do they have a dress code? What would be considered the correct dress attire?

I would agree with Stephen. Business casual at a minimum.

I arrived toward the end of the evening, so the restaurant was pleasantly quiet, which made the meal even more enjoyable. This was truly a memorable dining experience. Minus 2 stars - as the end of the night, our server disappeared & when he did reappear, I could never get his attention to get the bill. I flagged someone else down but they just shrugged. It took me putting my jacket on (& 20 extra mins) to get Lawrence's attention. Also, it was close to the end of the night as we were wrapping up - maybe 9:30ish. There were still PLENTY of guests eating dinner, and the workers started breaking down tables in our section, moving things around, replacing large tables for smaller ones, etc. We're trying to have a nice (expensive!) dinner & workers are cleaning up around us. Our waitress, Ayoola, was exceptional--warm, personable, and genuinely thoughtful. She made us feel completely taken care of from start to finish. We began at the bar with a cocktail called the VIP, which was perfectly balanced--smooth, refreshing, and very easy to enjoy. I didn't even think to take a photo until we were nearly finished--that's always a good sign. The complimentary bread was outstanding--warm, buttery, and perfectly fluffy with a delicate texture. Easily one of the best I've had, and very hard to resist. My husband and I shared three appetizers, two mains, and three sides, and even the sides were generously portioned. It was quite a lot of food, but every dish was beautifully prepared, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The tuna tartare--with avocado and prawn chips--was incredibly fresh, delicious, and well-seasoned, with a delicate balance that really let the quality of the fish shine.
