Food 10/10 Service AMAZING (we sat at the bar didn't have a reservation) Richie was warm and welcoming and took very good care of us. Ambiance was dim light, open kitchen. It is pretty tight in there and very little walk room so just be careful. One of our favorite meals in Philly, will definitely be back again soon.

Coal roasted oysters - garlic butter sauce and homemade hot sauce

My husband and I went for our one year wedding anniversary and we're now obsessed with this restaurant! It's upscale while still being very approachable. Our waitress explained we could either pick from the menu or do the 3 course chefs tasting. We had quite a few dishes we really wanted to try so we opted out of the chefs tasting. We started with the coal roasted oysters and bluefin tuna tartare. The 4 oysters come with a homemade hot sauce and garlic butter, it was a great starter. The toro tartare still had great consistency and wasn't overly chopped up. The best part was a tart sauce that was on the potato chips, I'm not sure what it was but it complimented the tuna and salty chip so well. We also got the green salad which surprised us as one of our favorite dishes. It's simple but paired really well with the meal. The naan had a perfect Smokey flavor with a subtle tartness from the pomegranate seeds. Finally we ordered the ribeye and it was 100% worth the splurge! It was the perfect amount of food for the two of us and ended up costing slightly less than the chefs tasting. The meal was well paced and we never felt rushed.

cute intimate restaurant with an open kitchen in bella vista. had a great experience here with my parents! finally got to try this restaurant which supposedly has one of the best burgers in philly. the food here definitely didn't disappoint, the burger was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was so juicy. my family also shared the prime ribeye which was also cooked beautifully to medium rare. the meat was tender, but i honestly was not a fan of the bbq sauce, it felt cheap for the steak. the appetizers were the highlight though, the bluefin toro tartare and the steak tartare were phenomenal. the toro tartare was a perfectly crafted bite, i could not get enough and was tempted to order a second plate. the steak tartare was so fresh and was generously layered on sourdough. the cauliflower naan was quite delightful as well, the pomegranate added a pleasant pop of sweetness. for dessert, we shared the coconut sorbet and the pot de crème. both were solid, but neither were life-changing. my parents enjoyed the pot de crème, but neither were particularly up my ally. i had the love fool mocktail which was refreshing and tart. overall, this is a gem of a spot. the raw appetizers were absolutely incredible, i would heavily recommend the bluefin toro tartare and the steak tartare. i would come back just to have the toro tartare again. no issues with service, our waiter was friendly. he was quite busy with other tables but still made time to check in a few times. great experience!

In a world where everything is up, charged and disappointing, I can honestly say Alice is biting a good fight. The ambiance is chill and perfect for a Max group of four. The serving sizes are perfect for a first, second or third date, or just a plain old fashioned getaway with your partner. The waiter was well in tune white guiding me through one of the best mules that I've had in Philadelphia in a long time. When I sat down I asked him to show me the way and that's exactly what he did. Starting with an appetizer and finishing with a steak. If I remember correctly I had a mezcal drink or two or three, come to think of it. I don't recall how many I had cuz they were so good. Maybe that's why I can't remember what I had as an appetizer, but I do remember it being outstanding. Please don't change, and if you do evolve, I hope it's only for the best!

Everything about this place was great! Greeted as soon as we got in, and were seated immediately. The service was amazing too. With it being our first visit we were given a great rundown of the menu and different recommendations for dinner. We started with the tartare and salad. I wish we would have gotten a double order of tartare because it was AMAZING!!! I'm a huge carrot fan, so when I saw it in the menu we had to order it. The hazelnut miso is a great paring with the carrots. Wasn't expecting the wife to want the ribeye but I'm glad we got it. The hickory bbq and green garlic spread across the ribeye were two roads straight to flavor town! This place is exquisite. The music was on point throughout the evening and the dim lighting was perfect for date night. Can't wait to go back!

I love this location. This corner of the entry of the Italian market is a sweet dining spot. I have been to a few dinners from different iterations on this corner so coming here brings back all the feels (I won't bore you with the details). This is a lively place with a center bar, open kitchen and a bustling dining area. It has been mentioned in other reviews, but can get somewhat noisy. Not unbearable but definitely talk-in-a-loud-voice-to-the-person-across-from-you noisy. The menu offers shareable plates. My friend visiting from St.Louis loved this option and since she was my out of town guest, I nodded to her choices on the menu. We ordered the cauliflower naan, the octopus, the prawns, the green salad and the French fries. We ended with the crème brûlée. I really enjoyed the naan. Delicious flavor and the bread was so fresh. The salad was an order based on a review that I read that claimed it the best there is. It was a good green salad, but I would skip it next time and go for something a bit more complex. It tasted fresh so that was good. French fries (I can't ever pass up a french fry) were good..crispy, fresh, perfectly salted. We also ordered the prawns that had great flavor and were a hearty portion. The crème brûlée was a bit puzzling. It had really good flavor but we didn't finish it because it was soupy and less of a custard. That one left me scratching my head a bit. The octopus was delicious and our evening here was well spent. If I make it back here soon, however, I'm going to order the burger (my friend is not a burger-gal). The burgers I saw being delivered to tables near me looked delicious

The Philly food scene continues to humble me. It really highlights the false New York food superiority that inevitably creeps in when one lives in the city too long. I needed this chin check. I loved everything about Alice. The ambiance is like being in someone's cozy home, the glassware was the best I've seen in a long time, the service was fantastic, and the food was spectacular. The cuisine is technically American, but I had never seen a menu like this. It was completely eclectic. We opted to get the Coal Roasted Oysters, The Eggplant Naan, Kanpachi Crudo, Green Salad, the burger, and a side of fries. Everything was fantastic, with the oysters being the best I've had in a LONG time. I want to say ever, but I've had so many oysters at this point I just can't do it ahahaha. Definitely up there though. They were doused in this garlic butter that made them orgasmic. The burger was tender, with juices spilling out of the side when you squeezed it. It was beautiful and delicious...... but it is my civic duty to mention the burger did not come with fries, with a side of fries being $9. To me this is a sin, but it's the sad reality of the world we live in now. My kids probably won't expect any burger to come with fries at this point smh. However, the fries were DELICIOUS lol so I became conflicted. Alice was amazing and I love eating at restaurants like this that are continuing to innovate and just take pride in their work. You can tell they love what they do in here. It inspires me. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__reviews

Delicious bites of food! The service was outstanding! Jamie was attentive and knowledgeable about the selections! The vibe was classic but comfortable. Will go the next time I'm in town.

Naan. Eh. Too thin. Flavor was bland.

5 stars for ambiance. 5 stars for service. 4 stars for food. My wife and I came here for an early dinner after hearing all the buzz about this place. We were immediately impressed with the decor and vibe. Beautiful bar, nice yet small dining areas around the bar. This place looked much nicer than the last restaurant in that space. The hostess was really nice and the server greeted us promptly. She also took our drink orders quickly and answered all the questions we had about the menu. We ordered the eggplant naan, latkes, green salad, salmon crudo, octopus, french fries and fried chicken. Everything was paced out so that we had two or three items at a time. That was nice. The best items were the green salad, latkes and fries. Those items were the stars. I am already craving that green salad. I hope they keep it on the menu. The fries were yummy and the sauce it came with was amazing. The latkes were crispy and very tasty. The fried chicken was very good. My wife did not love the batter, but I liked it. It was very farm style batter, and the homemade hot sauce was so good. The octopus and salmon were OK but would not get again. The only item we truly did not like was the naan. It was too thin and the eggplant was not very tasty. Overall though, this place is definitely doing a lot right, and we will certainly be back. The cocktails were really good too!

I was walking in the Italian market a few weeks ago with a friend and we noticed a new restaurant had opened. We stopped in and looked at the menu and spoke to one of the employees. We were pleasantly surprised to see a very diverse menu with some very enticing dishes. We decided to try it. We started with the Naan flatbread with anchovies and leeks. It was such a distinctive dish; the anchovies with leeks were so flavorful on the tender flatbread. The dish was seasoned with a fruity, sweet aleppo pepper which added just a touch of heat. Next we had the Glory Bay salmon crudo, with an herbal green matcha sauce, sesame and avocado. The crudo was so fresh and tender, it almost melted in our mouths! Next, we tried the coal roasted octopus - the charcoal-fired oven adds such a unique flavor. The octopus had a little chili and preserved lemon which gave it an incredible taste. We were trying to decide which chicken to get as we'd heard so many good things about each of the two dishes. We decided on the fried chicken; it was so flavorful, tender and juicy and had a delicious crunchy coating. We finished with the absinthe ice cream for dessert - I typically don't care for any type of licorice based taste, but the absinthe was so subtle it added such a delightful twist, it was luscious, creamy and so rich! However, before leaving we had a nice talk with the celebrated chef, Dave Conn, who named the restaurant after his mother. He was fascinating, telling us about his experiences as executive chef at El Vez and when he opened Amada with Jose Garces. He treated us to another scoop of his house made ice cream! This one was infused with Ultimo coffee and toffee and was created by his daughter! It was dreamy and a must have! We will definitely be returning to this little gem in the Italian Market!

    Ibérico carpaccio

We enjoyed an outstanding meal for 4 last night at Alice. Our favorites-- artichoke salad, mushrooms, octopus, ibérico carpaccio, fries (truly excellent), burger, fried chicken. The eggplant naan, sardines, tarte tartin, and the pot de crème were also very good but less memorable. I loved the Tea for One cocktail and we had a great wine called Where's Linus? The dishes and glassware are gorgeous. Food, service, ambiance all top notch- the price is significant but the value is there. I don't recommend it to folks who struggle with noise-- it's substantial-- or those who dislike smaller, tighter spaces or have many dietary restrictions.

    Green salad - delicious!

Really lovely meal! Welcome to the neighborhood! The salad and naan were favorites but everything was quite tasty. Looking forward to what they do over here.

3.5/5 stars rounded up to 4 Went for brunch, which is new for this spot. I've never been super tempted by the dinner menu but brunch had a lot of things that made it worth the trip to me. I have to say overall I left a little underwhelmed. My partner got the burger and stated it was a good size and filling. It was undercooked in the center and he was not able to finish it. We split the fries and they were delicious! That garlic aioli was great. We split the French toast, which was tasty! It was deep fried so it made it crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. I had the bbq tofu sandwich. The waitress, who was great!, recommended it but I was disappointed. It's a bahn mi style sandwich but there are much better options near by. This bread was great but soaked up what sauce there was on the tofu, making the overall sandwich dry. Tofu was good and I enjoyed what I could of the bbq sauce. I wouldn't order it again though. I did feel like, even though everything overall was on the more expensive side, the pricing was better compared to the dinner menu. Atmosphere was cool and I love the location. I'd go again to enjoy brunch on a nice day outside, but would certainly change up my order. Service was amazing; the wait staff was nothing but pleasant and very helpful in checking out the menu. I will add the caveat again that brunch is new for them and I understand they're probably working out some things. So I'm open to trying the spot again but left feeling like it wasn't what it could be.
