Lavendar French Toast
Jon K.

Stopped by First Watch for brunch earlier today and was pleasantly surprised. The location was packed but was able to get a seat somewhat quickly thanks to an online waitlist option. The service was fine not too pesty and the ambiance was very lively for a brunch spot. We ordered the Lavendar French Toast, Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwich and the Kale Tonic as a beverage. The Lavendar French toast was actually really great, I opted out of the cinnamon sugar topping as it seemed to be sweet enough and was glad I did. The Lavendar cream really enhanced the entree. I was surprised how good the Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwich was since it seemed basic but the bread was so crispy and the aioli sauce made the sandwich great. I also really liked the Kale Tonic, the apple juice tasted really fresh and wasn't overly sweet. Overall, glad I stopped by. I've heard a lot about First Watch but never stopped by. I would stop by again sometime.

I had a very lovely and filling breakfast here! You could definitely tell it was a chain from the typical above-small-diner "creative" menu and decor, but that didn't make the experience (or food) any less enjoyable. I recommend the hash bowl with steak! Though, there was probably only about 2oz of steak, which was disappointing, but they fill you up on potatoes so you don't notice, I suppose ;p half of the roasted potatoes were undercooked which was, underwhelming, and why I'm taking off an extra star. Also, the cinnamon tea was super yummy and refreshing, but for 5-6$ it was a bit of robbery. Service was average.

Went back after a visit to Penn Radnor since it was close. French toast, Farm stand breakfast tacos and a stay golden cinnamon roll. Everything was very good. French toast is one of my favorites now. The tacos were good. A bit spicy for my wife but ok for me. Service was fast and friendly. Took the cinnamon roll home to enjoy later but it didn't last long. Had a lemon flavored icing. It was very good

Late day brunch with my Dad, we stopped at the Villanova location, (first time here) an the place was pretty packed arnd noon. We had the best server.. I think her name was Olivia, she was so apologetic for our wait. It was fine it wasn't that long. She took our orders I got the chickenchanga, potatoes, toast. Usually I get the samething but decided to try something new. The chickenchanga was like an explosion in your mouth, had spicy chicken , chorizo , chilies, cheese , sour cream, and it also had a lemony sauce drizzled on top! Dad ordered the works omelet which had sausage, bacon, ham and cheese, mushrooms. We both enjoyed our meals and Olivia was very nice and took care of all of our needs..

First time visiting First Watch in the Wayne, PA location. My go to location is usually in cherry hill, NJ. The food was absolutely delicious as per usual, but I sadly have to give a 3 because of service. My bf and I came here for breakfast today. We gave our name to the hostess and only had to wait 10-15minutes to be seated. When we are finally seated, the waitress is nowhere to be found. Coffee mugs but no coffee, and she was just MIA. We waited a good bit and she finally comes and quickly gave us coffee and said she'd be back to take our orders. Waited a solid 15minutes for her to take our order. I checked the time and it took 52 MINUTES for our food to arrive!! 52!? It didn't look like they were short on staff, and the restaurant was busy but not busy where there was a long line of people waiting to be seated. I saw the table next to me wait a very long time to get their check and a family of 3 on the other side waiting to place an order. Not once did the waitress check in on us to apologize, ask us if we need anything like water, refill on coffee, etc. we waited 52minutes that we ended up finishing the pot of coffee and needed a refill. Food finally arrived (again, 52minutes later) and no apology or anything. Food was delicious and not disappointing at all. Just the service... I ordered the ham and gruyere omelette which was amazing. Very generous with the ham! Potatoes were perfectly cooked and I always love the artisan bread + jam. My bf ordered the farmhouse skillet hash which he also loved. Both dishes were very filling! The cherry hill location has free coffee by the door for people waiting to be seated or leaving the restaurant. The location in Wayne did not offer that

I like the place. I'm usually not big on breakfast or brunch places in general, but I had a good time here. My now ex boyfriend enjoyed his food and mine was good. I really like the biscuit and gravy. The drinks were great. We did have a heated argument while dining and was siting dead center of the restaurant. So I apologize for those who heard us. Will update my review once I come back and try other food items.

Really great food in a cute spot…read more I will say that every time I've been here, service has been slow due to what seems like not enough staff for how popular this place is. It's certainly not the staff's fault and they've all been lovely, but it's been a significant wait every time we've come here. Moving to the food, it is phenomenal and why this place has a five star rating despite the above. The spinach artichoke dip and the tofu are both the best I've ever had at any restaurant ever. My husband got the steak sandwich and the bread was amazing and the steak was cooked perfectly as well. I got the curried cauliflower salad and the dressing was a bit too strong for me and unfortunately the salad was dressed very heavily. But the cauliflower was still cooked well. Despite the service situation, the food is so good that I will definitely be back.

I don't know if they raised prices during COVID, shrank portions, or if it was always a little imbalanced. It's not even a financial thing, I'm just still hungry after eating an entree. Curiously, the desserts are huge. Like shared for the table huge. The Pickle Pizza is excellent, as is the Steak Mac & Cheese. The Pork Taco are also really good and could sub for an entree for a light eater. Anyway, this place is my go-to before a show at 118 North across the street. I've never been disappointed, I just end up spending more than planned.

From the moment we walked in, the hostess greeted us with a smile, another welcomed us in by holding the door, and a third (a waiter) said good evening and welcome! These may seem like insignificant gestures but when going out to eat, no matter the restaurant (chick fil a knows haha), the treatment of patrons is important. Especially with the costs of dining out. Our waiter, Aladdin, was exceptional in every sense--energetic, kind, light hearted, and treated my wife and I with the upmost care. This should be the norm everywhere but sadly it is not. Dead Fearless management, take care of Aladdin--he is a national (Triple Crown) treasure! Food was delicious--highly recommend the Delmonico and potato puree! Can't go wrong with the apps and salads of course. We'll be back!

Our waiter was excellent! I can't go above four stars for two related reasons. 1. At well over $100/person ... I expect a tablecloth. 2. We luckily came early (5p) .... Thank goodness. By the time we left the room we were in was nearly full and we literally had to yell to communicate with our AWESOME waiter. Makes sense when you consider that the room as a tin ceiling, cool looking but sounding bouncing windowed cabinets, wood floor and wood tables ... there isn't a sound absorbing material in the entire space.

The moment you walk in, the vibe hits you first: vibrant colors, rustic touches, and an ambiance that feels like stepping into someone's family dining room back in Italy. It's authentic, comforting, and alive with culture. The food? Unreal. Their **homemade bread** sets the tone -- rustic, fresh, and full of that old-world character. The **pizza** is on another level with dough that's so good it almost steals the show. Every pasta dish carries that handcrafted feel, the kind that tells you the recipe didn't come from a cookbook -- it came from memory. Appetizers are just as impressive, but the **grilled octopus** stands out as a true star. Perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and proof that Exit 13 puts heart into every dish. This is the kind of spot where the atmosphere and the food work together -- where the vibe feels like home and the flavors taste like heritage. Exit 13 doesn't just serve Italian cuisine. The service was very good: attentive and friendly. The ambiance is similar to Not Your Average Joe's in Ardmore with the upstairs/balcony seating and downstairs and big screen TV showing sports, but much noisier, especially as the upstairs also was filled with guests. By the time we left at 7:45pm after a 6:45pm reservation, it was loud enough that we had to fairly shout at each other to continue our conversation. The food was okay, except the salad which was excellent, but not worth returning for just the salad. - beet salad - 4.5/5, plentiful small diced red and yellow beets, avocado, arugula, a light dressing and burrato with crushed pistachios. a very solid starter salad and the server kindly split a large order into two small plates for us to share - fried calamari - 3/5, having just eaten at Estia last night which has a very good fried calamari, this one was not breaded as consistently and some of the pieces were a tad on the large side for a reasonable bite and too chewy to be cut with the fork or knife. - penne puttanesca - 3/5, my husband ordered this and while he not a self-proclaimed foodie, for him to say it was just okay means it was really just okay - linguine vongole - 3/5, points for the very plentiful offering of clams, i counted probably 20 generously sized clams (sometimes you get miniscule clams with this dish), but overall the sauce was too salty and there's not much you can do to fix that, and the linguine was a bit overcooked, definitely not even close to al dente We skipped dessert as by that point our ears were starting to ring with the high decibels coming from around us on the balcony and the floor below. It looked like a lot of people were having a good time so maybe it's just not for us.

Peter, I believe was his name, was so courteous, calm, respectful and nothing was a problem, he just took care of things. The starters of Tuna Tartar and the Arugula Beet Salad were fabulous, so full of mixed flavors, pleasing to all senses. For entrees my friend had the Blackened Shrimp ABLT salad, so decadent, so rich in flavors and content. I had the leftovers the next day, it was still fabulous. I had the Lamb Bolognese. A creamy thick bolognese but not heavy...if that makes any sense. For dessert the pineapple upside cake ala mode to die for! Great choice. My frequent visits in the area are Rosalie's and Estia. Service was attentive although funny in that our server would ask us how our next dish was immediately after it had been placed in front of us and before we had a bite. It happened three times! So maybe not quite as attentive come to think of it. We both ordered from the prix fixe menu (sharing the appetizers) which is a good deal, and I don't remember so many items involving an upcharge so that's new to me. - fried calamari - 4/5, very good, nice aioli dipping sauce, breading was consistent and not too heavy, light tasting and delicious - greek salad - 4/5, I usually love this and it was still delicious and fresh but I noticed that 1) they've changed the name so it's no longer called horiatiki, and 2) we had a very small piece of feta with the salad whereas in the past the ratio of feta to the tomatoes, green peppers, red onions, cucumbers has been more even. And now there's a $6 supplement charge for this appetizer which seems like A LOT for a salad. Next time I might skip this because of the upcharge - lavraki - 5/5, this light white fish is just the right amount of flavor and portion and my go to choice when I go to Estia. Also a $6 upcharge but this seemed more worth it - baklava - 5*/5, also a $2 upcharge but worth it as these four pieces of cylindrical baklava, while a little difficult to eat (use your hand? try to cut a cylinder with a fork?) it is an excellent baklava We went at 5pm before it got too busy and were seated away from the bar so we were able to have a quiet conversation but as the restaurant filled it definitely got noisier and I would not want to be seated near the bar. They do have a lovely outdoor area at the front and side of the restaurant so we could have sat outside since last night was quite mild in weather. I was celebrating my birthday a few days early. There was plenty of parking available. The hosts at the front desk and our waitress/wait staff were all very, very kind. It was a pleasure dealing with everyone here. The interior is decorated beautifully. The restaurant provides complimentary hummus with sliced bread or pita bread. We chose the pita bread. The hummus was delightful. Super creamy and flavorful. I ordered the Dionysius cocktail which was quite refreshing and light. I was in the mood for a carbonated drink and this was perfect. The Estia Chips are a MUST, especially if you're a zucchini and eggplant fan. These little half moons were fried to perfection and come with a side of tzatziki. I was sad when we finished them. Their tuna is cooked rare (it's reflected on the menu as such) but oh so yummy. I was expecting a steak, but instead, squared pieces of tuna wrapped around sautéed spinach were served to me. Highly suggest this! One thing about me is I always leave room for dessert, and I was with my fiancé who loves cheesecake so we asked for that. The pistachio crust was excellent. I had never tasted anything like this before. It was my first time having Greek food, but it definitely won't be my last!
