    Burrata cheese salad
    Melissa R.

Our favorite restaurants are byobs as we love to bring our own wine, so The Choice seemed to fit the bill. Plus, we were going with friends who had been there before. The restaurant is located on Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr, and we were able to find free parking in a nearby lot which beat city prices. The place itself is fairly nondescript and on the smaller side. On a Friday night in November, all the tables were occupied. The menu at The Choice is fairly extensive although I had a difficult time deciding what to order. We shared the burrata cheese salad which was good especially with the prosciutto. The dorado with baby vegetables was interesting with the potato fish scales but just ok as was the chicken teriyaki. Overall, the food was good, but I was longing for some ambience. We ended up walking to a cool restaurant/bar up the street which delivered just that.

    Chilean Seabass

I went to The Choice for date night. The servers were friendly. For appetizers, we ordered the terrine of foie gras, pan seared foie gras, and the lobster ceviche. I thought the pan seared foie gras had too much sauce on it but otherwise, all apps were good. For the entree, we ordered the duck breast and Chilean seabass. Both were good as well. For a side, we ordered the cream of leeks. I wanted to try something I wouldn't normally try. It was ok but maybe next time I'll order a different side. I would come back again to try other items on the menu. Everything on the menu looked good and I was sad I couldn't order everything!

    Chilean sea bass with miso

Two of us recently had dinner at The Choice. For appetizers we tried the field green salad and the tuna tartare. Both were excellent. For mains we had the Chilean sea bass in miso and the 1/2 duck with orange-caramel-coffee sauce. And both of these were excellent. The plating was beautiful. The service was friendly and attentive. The decor is nice - cool lighting, art on the walls. Prices are appropriate. Chef is very creative.

The Choice is the perfect date night spot. We were able to get a reservation on a week night fairly easily, especially earlier in the evening. The hostess was friendly and the service was great. We started off with the scallops and octopus. The scallops were delicious although I think the dough, while fun, takes a little bit away from the lovely texture. The octopus was amazing and could have been a meal in itself. I could eat that dish all day. We shared a buratta salad which was very light and nice (see pictures). The halibut almondine was very light, which was quite nice after such a flavorful set of openers. Next time we come we will definitely be bringing a bottle of wine as they're BYOB. This is a fantastic place to go for date night or when parents come into town. ;-)

The sea bass with truffle broth

It is a fabulous BYOB. Everything from the staff to every dish was top notch. We were a party of 2 and had the lobster ceviche, the tuna rice cakes, the wagyu dumplings and the Chilean sea bass with truffle. All of these were out of this world. Will definitely be back to try some more of the very interesting menu.

One of our favorite restaurants on Main Line. Great dishes, savory and well prepared, gracious service, and you can bring your own favorite vino! Can't go wrong with any choice on the menu.

Covid t/o. Too pretty to photograph in a takeout box. Here it is plated at home. Fillet mignon mashed potatoes and green vegetables

The inside is very spacious and gives a very relaxed atmosphere. For the prix fixe meal, we chose: Ajvar and Pita, Mozzarella Sticks, Hanger Steak, Jelly Crepes, and the chocolate cake. Everything was amazing from start to finish. I can't believe this is probably the best steak I've had in a very long time. At first glance, I was hoping to get some steak sauce, but as it turns out, it wasn't necessary at all. They have tenderized this steak and seasoned it incredibly. It was a very soft, juicy, and delicious piece of meat that needed no sauce. I was also a huge fan of the jelly crepes for dessert. They were very fluffy and had the right amount of blueberry filling. I was conflicted between getting the jelly or the nutella filling, but I knew I would be satisfied either way given how the meal went so far. I also really appreciate the good variety of dishes they have on both their restaurant week and regular menu. Needless to say Balkan Fusion was a very pleasant surprise that blow every expectation out of the water. I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

The husband started with a cup of Borsch soup, very flavorful with a nice mix of beets and carrots. Then we shared the Hummus Platter appetizer. Nicely done with Kalamata olives, celery, cucumber, carrots and pita bread. The main event included Musaka and Turli Tave. The musaka was layered up with potatoes, ground beef & pork, topped with egg and cheese with a side salad of cabbage in a vinegar dressing. The flavors were very good and there was enough to feed two. The turli tava was really tasty. It was in a stew form and plentiful. It came with pita bread which allowed him to wipe the crock clean, as a good Italian is taught. The final scene included Honey Cake and Tulumba. The cake was finely layered and extremely decadent. The tulumba were also very good, small fried dough similar to churros, but soaked in simple syrup. Alex (chef owner) and his wife Monica (server), along with their little guy Noah were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Definitely a return trip in the future for us. If you are in the neighborhood and hungry, give them a try. Don't worry, they have stuff on the menu for the non-adventurous. It's a BYOB too, that's a plus. Check them out, 17th and New York Avenues, N Wildwood.

From the moment we sat down, it was clear this wasn't just dinner -- it was an experience. The bread alone was award-winning quality. The squash harvest soup was absolutely amazing -- rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. It was a five-course meal, and every course delivered. The cheese and cherry ravioli was an incredible sweet-and-savory combination that had me savoring every bite. The roasted duck had unique, complex flavors and was definitely delicious. I also tried a bit of the shrimp -- even though I passed most of it off -- and it was excellent. And dessert? I don't even know exactly what it was, but it was outstanding. What really sets this place apart is the full experience. We were given a tour of the property and learned about the incredible history of the building. Barry, our waiter and tour guide, was absolutely incredible -- attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the restaurant. The private tour and the information he shared made the night even more special. We also had the privilege of meeting the owner and chef, Brondo. He was a pleasure to meet -- very cool guy and an exceptional chef. Everything about La Locanda Del Cavallo is on point: Great service Great atmosphere Great people Must-try food While the food was fantastic, the entire experience is what makes it truly unique. Highly, highly, highly recommend.

The 5-course meal was fantastic; the portions were definitely great. We started with a beef soup with homemade bread. Then they served a homemade ravioli and meatball. The next course was a large lobster tail and prawn with 1/2 of crab cake. Thankfully, we took a tour before the next course to take a breather. Lol. We were able to choose from five entrée items, and we chose the rack of lamb and the veal osso buco. The dessert was custard cake with a side of fresh whipped cream and custard.... You may have to fold your mirrors in to hit cars, I'm not exaggerating. I had envisioned a larger restaurant but this was small with maybe 7 tables. We sat at one with padded wooden benches that was comfortable. We were the only customers when arrived for lunch. The menu is limited and the waitress was as authentic as the food. There were some lunch specials posted but we opted to try three things: mushroom cheese bread, potato pancakes and the blueberry pierogies. The pierogies were definitely handmade and on the larger side as soon as you cut it open, the blueberries rushed out. There was a sweet sugary sauce on the top. That was unexpected. They were served cold and not warm. They were sweet. There were two of us and we each were only able to eat one of the six that came in the order. The mushroom cheese bread was drizzled with ketchup, which was unexpected that cheese was melting and gooey. Our favorite item was definitely the potato pancakes. They were cooked to perfection and the sour cream was the perfect condiment. They do have limited drinks here, including bottled water, cans of Pepsi and diet Pepsi, and some unique bottled drinks like birch water. The biggest drawback for the spot was that I just didn't think it was as clean as I would've liked it to be. It is authentic and as you eat, there is a man in the back that you can see making pierogies by hand. I'm glad that we tried this, but I'm not sure that I would return.
