My friend and I arrived at 5:00 PM on a Tuesday to try LaScala Fire's Happy Hour. Specials run from 3PM - 6PM Monday through Friday. Excellent! We slowly began to realize that unless you're a regular, you will receive crappy service. We needed to flag the bartender down for our drink order (middle-aged woman with dark blonde hair). We also needed to flag her down to order food. She was chatty with our neighbors and other patrons but averted her eyes away from us. WTH? She walked past us numerous times but never once checked in the entire time. Our dirty plates sat in front of us for over 30 minutes (it was clear we were finished). We stacked them ourselves and pushed them forward. It was off-putting and there was zero reason to ignore us. We waved her down for our check and she even let our payment sit on the bar for nearly 15 minutes. Another bartender took our check and asked if we needed change. This experience put a bad taste in our mouths. We will not revisit. read more

We arrived on a Saturday night at 7:00 pm, and to my surprise, we had our choice between a few different spots at the bar offering four seats together. I was expecting the bar to be packed with the hopes of finding a pair of bar seats so two of us could sit and two could stand. LaScala's was busy. The tables were all occupied and they had a wedding in their private room. We started off with drinks; a couple of Tito's & Clubs, a Stoli Elit Martini with a twist and a Hendrick's Martini with an olive. Drinks were great as were the bartenders. They were friendly, patient, and one was always available to put in some food or mix up another drink despite how busy the restaurant was. We also had the mussels in red and caprese. The mussels, again like my prior visits, were delicious. They were tender and succulent, and the gravy was so good I could have ate the entire bowl with a spoon. The caprese was displayed beautifully and tasted as good as it looked. For dinner, we ordered Angel Hair with crab, Eggplant Parm, and Chicken Marsala. Again, the presentation was great. I thought the food was plated beautifully and the portion sizes were huge. The Marsala sauce was delicious. It came with two large pieces of tender chicken and plenty of mushrooms. My fiancé really enjoyed the Angel Hair with crab as well and had some leftovers she ate the following day that reheated well. The food this visit was great and we all enjoyed our dinners. The entire experience really changed my outlook on LaScala's Fire as I will not hesitate to return in the future for dinner and drinks. Side note: The bartender even offered to let me taste a beer, which I thought was very nice of him, as I was trying to decide between two drafts. Well done Italian fare, modern chic Exploring NJ and found a place to try for a quick lunch. So we made the trek to give them a try. Inside, it's very much your modern fancy locale. Open kitchen, high ceilings with exposed piping and metal painted black, marble tops to the bar and tables. A very fancy place. Our server was prompt and courteous, friendly and helpful. She checked in multiple times and always made sure our drinks were topped off. We ordered the meatball trio for me, the mussels for her, and the stuffed red hots to share. Food came out after a short wait, which gave us time to chat. The meatballs were great. The ricotta was just salty enough to help mellow out the sweet marinara and punch the flavors of the meatball. The texture of the meatball was dense on the fork when cutting, but melt in your mouth when eaten. It was seasoned, presented, and executed expertly. A very solid meatball. The mussels were advertised a spicy, but not so much. The flavor was great though. Bright, acidic tomatoes with bits of pork chorizo in a flavorful broth was a delight to savor with mussels or bread. The stuffed long hots were very hot, so much so that any semblance of filling was overshadowed by heat. But the peppers did have a great char and a good earthy tone to them. I've been here twice and both times had a great experience. The brick oven pizzas are really good. Definitely check those out. Cheesesteak eggrolls may be the best I've had. Not greasy and packed with ribeye. Skip the boneless wings though - small portion for the price and the "fire" variety were not only not hot...they were flavorless. My wife like her sushi roll. Early dinner (4:30pm Saturday) not too crowded we were seated right away. It does start to pack in after 5pm though. Parking lot is huge but you may have walk a little when crowded. The inside is impressive. Very industrial looking with a huge bar and nice booth seating as well as tables. Very clean inside. The staff was super friendly and professional. For starter we had truffle fries,Caesar salad and the Italian wedding soup. The soup was delicious! Definitely home made with tons of sausage,escarole and veggies. So good! Not sure what happened in just a year's time frame, but in yesterday's experience in which we came with family who live nearby and have been here too, both felt that LaScala's food quality had dropped way off. I'll explain. This by the way has nothing to do with Caitlyn our server, she was fabulous and the singer/guitar player entertainment was awesome. The problem lies in the kitchen and bar. All but of the dishes that my wife and I had we had on our first visit and I reviewed my review and wrote a glowing 5 star posting. This time the food was not hot, the fra diavolo sauce in the muscle dish was so watery, no body and no kick.... very sad. The chicken san remo was also not hot, the chicken was not tender, was more chewy and dry. As for my bar beverage, I ordered the Spicy Pineapple Margarita and I asked for a good left glass rim dip into the salt and what I was served was a glass that was barely dipped and was dipped with sugar, plus the beverage was so watered down that other than seeing the 1 slice of jalapeno you couldn't tell what I was drinking. We sent it back and it came back no better, however this time it had a tiny dipping of salt. As for my family's dishes, we shared the Brussels sprouts, again not hot nor warm and sort of meally. I travel for work and eat out most nights. I won't be back and will tell others about my experience. some of the staff had to move this group so they could get through. you should put people in group away from single tables like mine. For the past few years, my family has come here to celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas with family that lives in the area, and it never disappoints! I've always had either the spaghetti with clams or eggplant parm. We've also always had the ricotta board, calamari, and Calabrian brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts are AMAZING. I don't usually like brussels sprouts, but these are so good I could've eaten the whole bowl myself. And it's a large bowl! The clams themselves are usually more seasoned than they were this time...maybe they need to be soaked in broth and seasoned w/more garlic. The tiramisu cake with chocolate shavings was sooo good! The bread was fresh and crisp, the chicken was juicy and tender, def didn't overdue it with too much sauce or garlic but I had too add my own cheese. Food was good. Service was... well... The waitress informed us that it was a "Freeform kitchen", which means that food is brought out as it's ready. So if one entree is ready and the other isn't, well, then they bring out that one entree, and then ten minutes later they bring out the next. Which is what happened. My meal was delivered. I had to sit and wait for my wife's meal to be delivered, ten minutes later, while my meal is cooling off. This a poor practice, no matter what they call it. We sat outside. My family of 7 went here this past weekend for the first time. We went here to celebrate my mom and my son's birthday. When we got there we told the front that it was their birthday, and we were informed that we get a free dessert (my son was very excited). I ordered a blueberry alcoholic beverage that was not good. It tasted like watered down vodka, with some cheap lemonade and blue food coloring to make it "blueberry". I told the waitress, when she eventually got to our table, and she said not to worry it would be taken off the bill. My son ordered his dessert, the staff sang, it was very nice. When we got the bill, my husband paid without looking (OUR MISTAKE) nothing was taken off. Not the desserts, not the drink. The food was just okay. My son really enjoyed his kids plain pizza..but the rest of us were left a little disappointed, especially for the price! I say this as a warning to all! The calamari is interesting- I don't have the most advanced calamari palette and I enjoyed it however my boyfriend is obsessed with calamari and stopped eating it after the first couple because it was not crispy enough. We were on a budget so we weren't spending a fortune on each meal but La Scala fire was a real disappointment. Probably the worst pizza I've ever had and what would have been a great salad was drowned in balsamic vinegar making it almost inedible. The pizza actually was inedible. Really poor quality chopped up pieces of chicken soaked in hot sauce with what appeared to be no butter whatsoever because all you could taste was low quality dried out chicken and hot sauce and substandard cheese. The crust had almost no flavor whatsoever. Service was good and atmosphere as well. Music was a too loud. I could barely hear what the waiter was saying due to the volume. Met up with a friend at the Marlton location at Sagemore on 73. The joint is under construction. Looks like they're expanding to an adjacent storefront. While awaiting her arrival, I struck up several conversations with customers: an old business acquaintance plus spouse and a random stranger enjoying an evening with his grandchildren. Both led to friendly and welcome laughs. Large TVs playing various sports matches wrap around the top of the bar. Not my style, really. I guess it's a draw for some. Ordered the Ricotta and Honey appetizer. Very tasty. Ricotta was smooth, likely whipped. I wish my honey at home tasted this good! I could've eaten two orders all by myself. Had two cocktails, both were solid. Anthony was friendly behind the bar. Turns out my friend knew him from way back. We enjoyed a nice convo throughout the night. What a beautiful and "swanky" BIG restaurant! Very modern decor throughout with a nice black and white color scheme. One of my three best friends ever and I came for a dual birthday (me - Jan - her - in two days) lunch. No appetizers ordered ... why no complimentary bread?! We each had a pasta dish - my friend had Bolognese over angel hair, I had vodka rigatoni with added chicken. The chicken was slight and in small cubes. I wasn't impressed. Otherwise, excellent! My friend liked her dish, but said it was too spicy. She liked, not loved, hers. Our (male) server was very nice, but a bit MIA. We shared a dessert - profiteroles - we both never had before. Bland, mediocre food with bland, mediocre service. This place has an oil problem. I got the veggie panini. Not toasted, pressed or grilled at all. It was just flavorless, overcooked, mushy vegetables with too much oil between two premade chewy pizza crusts or something. And there was no spinach on it. The "crispy" fried artichokes were also bland, mushy and soaked up the frying oil like a sponge. You could feel the oil squeezing out into your mouth as you bit into them. My wife got the spinach and goat cheese salad that was semi ok. The fried goat cheese was good but the vinaigrette was just a bacon flavored oil. Not really any discernible vinegar taste at all. We ordered an appetizer and 2 meals and every item came out separately. Only saw the waitress when she took our order and dropped off the check, other than that, it was someone different each time and we kept having to flag down random employees walking by if we needed something. Definitely not worth what they are charging. Also, what the hell are they thinking with the random sushi menu at an Italian restaurant? We went here for dinner on a weekend and were seated near the bar. It was definitely busy and loud as expected. We got the Classic Arancini, Lascala Fries, Fire Wings and Calamari Fritti. The arancini and wings were okay. The calamari was chewy and the batter around it was strange and barely covered the calamari. The Lascala Fries were the best dish we tried. They were out of the Chocolate Cake when we went which was the only reason why we went because my work had a work event a few weeks prior and they had brought chocolate cake from Lascala's (different location) and it was really good then. We ended up going back on another date for the cake, but when I had it, it wasn't as good as I remembered. Service was great and friendly. It is located in the Promenade at Sagemore (shopping area) in Marlton so there is a lot of parking and is a high-traffic area. 2/5. read more

This place is beautiful inside! The Rigatoni Vodka was delicious. The sauce had a good amount of flavor but I cant say it for the rest of the food. The pizza had a tangy red sauce but the dish I would say isn't worth the price. I would not waste your money on the bolognese pasta. It barely had any flavor and was watery. The burrata board I feel like you can not go wrong with but I do think they might need to put some balsamic glaze on the side because it was quite dry. Overall the service is great but then again there wasn't much people inside. I think I would give it another try for the other dishes. read more

This is my first time here in a few years since they remodeled the establishment and all I can say is WOW! What a great decision on their part. The place looks beautiful! It is less echoey like it used to be, the new bar directly in the center breaks the place up a bit, and more booth options is excellent. Staff were quite friendly upon walking in and service was great. The food was delicious! The shrimp Pompeii appetizer is great but quite spicy as it has jalapeños so next time I will ask to omit them. The beet salad was phenomenal!!! I asked for the beets on the side and for no fennel and it was so good I still can't stop thinking about it. Honestly I'd go back just for the salad. The margarita pizza I could do without as it wasn't crispy at all and was mostly just plain sauce, nothing like one you'd get at a pizza restaurant. The temperature inside was a little chilly but could be worse. I did have to go back to the car to get a cardigan. All in all, I will surely be back! read more

Ambiance: This restaurant was renovated after the pandemic I think and it's gorgeous! The island in the middle of the restaurant is a huge bar and they have a lot more space than before. The outdoor seating is great when the weather is nice but the inside is equally beautiful. I especially enjoy the chandelier installations. Service: The service is good, usually we get in without a long wait but this place is a draw for the after work happy hour crowd. Overall the wait staff are good and really attentive and give good recommendations. Food: There are definitely some hits and some misses on the menu. Without a doubt I alway recommend the Chicken San Remo. It's definitely large enough for two people and it tastes really good. The Arancini is amazing and would definitely recommend as well. As far as misses the lemon crab and shrimp over linguini is bland and I had to send back. read more

This restaurant has been a go to spot of mine for a casual, yummy and byo place. They are currently renovating and a new section next door is supposed to open May 24. When it opens, the restaurant will no longer be byo because they will have a bar. Came here for my dads birthday and ordered a ton of things to share. Food comes out fast! We ordered the ricotta board, meatball trio, clams in white, lascala chopped salad and Margherita pizza. Everyone was obsessed with the ricotta board. Pretty presentation, delicious, sweet and amazing. Don't waste any of the ricotta honey dip! My parents really enjoyed the other starters. I've had the Margherita pizza before and it's normally very good, but tonight we all thought it was just okay. Loved thinness, how it was a bit burned but it was drenched in sauce and we didn't think the sauce was that good. Waiter said his fav pizza is the Grandma so I'll try that and the mushroom truffle next time. Finished our meal with tiramisu which was big enough to share amongst 3 people. Not going to lie, I'm pretty irritated after what was supposed to be a celebration of my 26th anniversary. I've heard good things about this place, and maybe our experience was a fluke, but I thought I should share it anyway. This is the very definition of style over substance. It's a pretty space and the food looks like a stylist put it together. But the tomatoes on the burrata board were not ripe, there was very little olive oil and pesto, and the bread was dry. The calamari was not very crispy (according to my husband). My Tuscan chicken looked beautiful, but somehow the chicken itself was super bland and overcooked. One good thing, my husband said the tuna was great. The service was incredibly lacking. As we dug into our appetizers, within about four minutes a very brusque bus person came and firmly put down both of our entrées, as you can see in the pictures. Then after eating, we waited and waited for our waitress to come back so we could ask for boxes and get out. We couldn't even see her to signal her. After 20 minutes, I gave up, and came out to the car where I sit writing this review while my husband waits to get the check. Also, one last thing, it is ridiculously loud in the restaurant, almost at sports bar level, so keep that in mind. So disappointing. read more
