We went here for dinner on a weekend and were seated near the bar. It was definitely busy and loud as expected. We got the Classic Arancini, Lascala Fries, Fire Wings and Calamari Fritti. The arancini and wings were okay. The calamari was chewy and the batter around it was strange and barely covered the calamari. The Lascala Fries were the best dish we tried. They were out of the Chocolate Cake when we went which was the only reason why we went because my work had a work event a few weeks prior and they had brought chocolate cake from Lascala's (different location) and it was really good then. We ended up going back on another date for the cake, but when I had it, it wasn't as good as I remembered. Service was great and friendly. It is located in the Promenade at Sagemore (shopping area) in Marlton so there is a lot of parking and is a high-traffic area. 2/5. read more

This place is beautiful inside! The Rigatoni Vodka was delicious. The sauce had a good amount of flavor but I cant say it for the rest of the food. The pizza had a tangy red sauce but the dish I would say isn't worth the price. I would not waste your money on the bolognese pasta. It barely had any flavor and was watery. The burrata board I feel like you can not go wrong with but I do think they might need to put some balsamic glaze on the side because it was quite dry. Overall the service is great but then again there wasn't much people inside. I think I would give it another try for the other dishes. read more

This restaurant has been a go to spot of mine for a casual, yummy and byo place. They are currently renovating and a new section next door is supposed to open May 24. When it opens, the restaurant will no longer be byo because they will have a bar. Came here for my dads birthday and ordered a ton of things to share. Food comes out fast! We ordered the ricotta board, meatball trio, clams in white, lascala chopped salad and Margherita pizza. Everyone was obsessed with the ricotta board. Pretty presentation, delicious, sweet and amazing. Don't waste any of the ricotta honey dip! My parents really enjoyed the other starters. I've had the Margherita pizza before and it's normally very good, but tonight we all thought it was just okay. Loved thinness, how it was a bit burned but it was drenched in sauce and we didn't think the sauce was that good. Waiter said his fav pizza is the Grandma so I'll try that and the mushroom truffle next time. Finished our meal with tiramisu which was big enough to share amongst 3 people. Bland, mediocre food with bland, mediocre service. This place has an oil problem. I got the veggie panini. Not toasted, pressed or grilled at all. It was just flavorless, overcooked, mushy vegetables with too much oil between two premade chewy pizza crusts or something. And there was no spinach on it. The "crispy" fried artichokes were also bland, mushy and soaked up the frying oil like a sponge. You could feel the oil squeezing out into your mouth as you bit into them. My wife got the spinach and goat cheese salad that was semi ok. The fried goat cheese was good but the vinaigrette was just a bacon flavored oil. Not really any discernible vinegar taste at all. We ordered an appetizer and 2 meals and every item came out separately. Only saw the waitress when she took our order and dropped off the check, other than that, it was someone different each time and we kept having to flag down random employees walking by if we needed something. Definitely not worth what they are charging. Also, what the hell are they thinking with the random sushi menu at an Italian restaurant? Not going to lie, I'm pretty irritated after what was supposed to be a celebration of my 26th anniversary. I've heard good things about this place, and maybe our experience was a fluke, but I thought I should share it anyway. This is the very definition of style over substance. It's a pretty space and the food looks like a stylist put it together. But the tomatoes on the burrata board were not ripe, there was very little olive oil and pesto, and the bread was dry. The calamari was not very crispy (according to my husband). My Tuscan chicken looked beautiful, but somehow the chicken itself was super bland and overcooked. One good thing, my husband said the tuna was great. The service was incredibly lacking. As we dug into our appetizers, within about four minutes a very brusque bus person came and firmly put down both of our entrées, as you can see in the pictures. Then after eating, we waited and waited for our waitress to come back so we could ask for boxes and get out. We couldn't even see her to signal her. After 20 minutes, I gave up, and came out to the car where I sit writing this review while my husband waits to get the check. Also, one last thing, it is ridiculously loud in the restaurant, almost at sports bar level, so keep that in mind. So disappointing. read more

This is my first time here in a few years since they remodeled the establishment and all I can say is WOW! What a great decision on their part. The place looks beautiful! It is less echoey like it used to be, the new bar directly in the center breaks the place up a bit, and more booth options is excellent. Staff were quite friendly upon walking in and service was great. The food was delicious! The shrimp Pompeii appetizer is great but quite spicy as it has jalapeños so next time I will ask to omit them. The beet salad was phenomenal!!! I asked for the beets on the side and for no fennel and it was so good I still can't stop thinking about it. Honestly I'd go back just for the salad. The margarita pizza I could do without as it wasn't crispy at all and was mostly just plain sauce, nothing like one you'd get at a pizza restaurant. The temperature inside was a little chilly but could be worse. I did have to go back to the car to get a cardigan. All in all, I will surely be back! read more

Ambiance: This restaurant was renovated after the pandemic I think and it's gorgeous! The island in the middle of the restaurant is a huge bar and they have a lot more space than before. The outdoor seating is great when the weather is nice but the inside is equally beautiful. I especially enjoy the chandelier installations. Service: The service is good, usually we get in without a long wait but this place is a draw for the after work happy hour crowd. Overall the wait staff are good and really attentive and give good recommendations. Food: There are definitely some hits and some misses on the menu. Without a doubt I alway recommend the Chicken San Remo. It's definitely large enough for two people and it tastes really good. The Arancini is amazing and would definitely recommend as well. This was my first time at this restaurant. We were there to celebrate our friends 50th. We had a big round booth in the back of the restaurant. I did find it odd the when we walked in there were 3 girls working up front, instead of walking us to the table, they just pointed and said the booth is all the way in the back. I've been here many times and this is my first review of the restaurant. I usually get so taken by the ambiance and great food that I forget to do a critique. This particular LaScala is casual yet chic. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Since this was a pre birthday celebration for my husband, my daughter decided to do a sampling of the menu. We started with appetizers that included shrimp Pompeii, Brussels sprouts, calamari and a chopped salad. All of the appetizers were delicious! The Brussels sprouts had a nice balsamic and pancetta glaze. The calamari was meaty and crisp. The shrimp Pompeii had a nice sauce with cherry tomatoes and peppers. Now, the chopped salad is always consistent and enough for a party of four. We then proceeded to order our entrees. I had the chicken piccata with spinach and it was heavenly. My daughter had the chicken parmigiana with pasta and she said it was delicious. My husband had pasta topped with marinara sauce filled with chicken and seafood. With all the appetizers that we consumed, we could only eat half of our entrees. So, we took home food for the next day. Oh, I forgot, my daughter had to try the truffle fries. They are to die for! Simply wonderful! We couldn't handle dessert but left the restaurant with two bags of leftovers. The staff, ambiance, quality of the food and prices are great. Came here for lunch on a Sunday. There was no wait, we were seated immediately Ordered the truffle fries, stuffed long hots, and the wild mushroom truffle pizza. The truffle fries were good, but could not taste the truffle oil, and it lacked parmigiano. I was surprised to see that the fries cost almost the same as our pizza. The stuffed long hots were delicious. This dish was served with the tomato sauce still boiling. The long hots were actually spicy, and the "famous tomato sauce" was really good. The mushroom pizza was also very good... but after having the stuffed long hots, I regretted not getting a pizza with tomato sauce. Therefore, I dipped my pizza crust in the extra sauce, and it was amazing. I will definitely come back for the long hots, and to try other food... and dessert! read more

Some ask what would be special about lunch, but this was for my team. I lead remotely on the west coast so whenever I get to see my reps it's special and we had a guest. This spot was poppin. Tons of business lunches going on but they sat a table of 6 really quick. Did the Tuscan wings, arancini, and caprese as apps. Great portions and tasted nice and fresh. Had an Italian pork panini. I come here and enjoy the pizza and pasta but lately things have been meh over there. Someone needs to get back in the kitchen and shape some folks up. Today I ordered rigatoni bolognese, which I've had and enjoyed there before. Today it was like Rigatoni allá Cipolla, seems like the cook grabbed an onion and roughly chopped it and threw it into my sauce. Now, I like bits of onion, celery and carrot in my bolognese, but I don't like want CHUNKS of onion while devoid the rest of the trinity (onions and carrots). La Scala, I like your food and flavors, but please go back and remind the kitchen staff how to dice onions and make a proper bolognese. read more

We have been to a few LaScalas. There is one in Center City one in Cooper River and now we have tried this one at the Promenade in Marlton. Every LaScalas we have tried has had consistently good food. Each of the three restaurants we tried is also very comfortable and has a pleasant open vibe. The LaScalas Fire at the Promenade is doing well and they have been expanding. They also have a pretty decent area for outdoor seating. We had a pizza and a salad and everything was very good. We had some sort of sweet and salty fig pizza and it was excellent. If Italian bistro style food is what you are looking for , LaScalas does a great job. read more

We went and tried this place for the first time and it didn't disappoint! It looked very clean and our server was very attentive to our needs and was very polite. We ordered the meatball trio for me, the mussels for her, and the stuffed red hots to share. Food came out after a short wait, which gave us time to chat. The meatballs were great. The ricotta was just salty enough to help mellow out the sweet marinara and punch the flavors of the meatball. The texture of the meatball was dense on the fork when cutting, but melt in your mouth when eaten. It was seasoned, presented, and executed expertly. A very solid meatball. The server was extremely friendly, however I was extremely disappointed with the food. At $17+ tax and tip for truffle fries, so a total of $20 for fries, you would expect something out of this world for the fries. Instead, you get a plate of fries that are not even half as good as just about any local diner, they had no salt, and the barest dusting of cheese on 3 of the fries. They were just not good. We had to send them back. The server was gracious enough to take them off the bill, so I have nothing negative to say about the service. For me it was the menu that was the issue. How are there no smaller sides offered? Either I want $20 fries or I don't get fries? The drink menu didn't appear to have any non alcoholic options, so from what I saw, there didn't appear to be any options besides water available. For a place that serves prosciutto and fig pizza and has the bougiest toppings around, how is there not a gluten free pizza option? They do offer gluten free pasta on the menu, which is fine, but this is predominately a pizza place. I wanted to try the pizza too, but essentially was limited to $17 fries, $17 brussels sprouts, salad, or a $20+ full pasta dinner. It just felt like there was so much potential there, but they need to put a little more thought into their menu. Add GF pizza, add nonalcoholic drinks to the menu, offer side dishes and smaller meal options, and for the love of all that is delicious, please rethink those fries. read more

Tried LaScala's Fire for a weekday lunch. I asked to sit in one of the dining room stations but was told only had the bar area. Had the same issue as my previous experience. Music was so loud, I couldn't hear our server when speaking. I found the large TV's very distracting. The experience was not a relaxing lunch. I had a paninis and was ok, but not great. The inside of sandwich was barely warm. The calamari was poorly executed. It was 50% coated, and no crisp at all. Lack any seasoning and had a slight smell. For the price , one of the worst calamari I ever had. I am really disappointed because had a great first meal. read more

I liked LaScala's when I went in person. I had their mista salad, truffle fries and wings inside the restaurant . I ordered a mista salad today and a Caesar salad to go online and everything was different. I added " protein" to my salad and instead of grilled chicken that I got inside the restaurant we were served breaded chicken. I cannot eat eggs so breaded chicken is a NO for me. My husband who can eat breaded chicken was not all impressed with their breaded chicken. Maybe the drive made it not taste as good but if you get grilled in the restaurant why is it not the same for take out when a choice is not offered on the menu between the two? For dressing they give you a small cup but both were filled half way. You can't fill that small cup all the way for an entree size salad that cost 20.00 each? Our top layer of our salad had dressing. The rest was dry. To top it off they gave us no fork to eat our meals! Is that on DoorDash or the restaurant? Lucky for us we had chopsticks from a previous order from a previous lunch at a different restaurant. Needless to say we won't be ordering La Scala again for take out delivery. We paid 50.00 with delivery fee and tip and got two salads that were much smaller than inside the restaurant and they gave us about 3 teaspoons worth of dressing and no forks to eat it.
