We arrived on a Saturday night at 7:00 pm, and to my surprise, we had our choice between a few different spots at the bar offering four seats together. I was expecting the bar to be packed with the hopes of finding a pair of bar seats so two of us could sit and two could stand. LaScala's was busy. The tables were all occupied and they had a wedding in their private room. We started off with drinks; a couple of Tito's & Clubs, a Stoli Elit Martini with a twist and a Hendrick's Martini with an olive. Drinks were great as were the bartenders. They were friendly, patient, and one was always available to put in some food or mix up another drink despite how busy the restaurant was. We also had the mussels in red and caprese. The mussels, again like my prior visits, were delicious. They were tender and succulent, and the gravy was so good I could have ate the entire bowl with a spoon. The caprese was displayed beautifully and tasted as good as it looked. For dinner, we ordered Angel Hair with crab, Eggplant Parm, and Chicken Marsala. Again, the presentation was great. I thought the food was plated beautifully and the portion sizes were huge. The Marsala sauce was delicious. It came with two large pieces of tender chicken and plenty of mushrooms. My fiancé really enjoyed the Angel Hair with crab as well and had some leftovers she ate the following day that reheated well. The food this visit was great and we all enjoyed our dinners. The entire experience really changed my outlook on LaScala's Fire as I will not hesitate to return in the future for dinner and drinks. Side note: The bartender even offered to let me taste a beer, which I thought was very nice of him, as I was trying to decide between two drafts. I ended up going with LaScala's blood orange IPA which was very smooth and refreshing. My fiancé who doesn't like IPAs even thought it wasn't bad.

Well done Italian fare, modern chic Exploring NJ and found a place to try for a quick lunch. So we made the trek to give them a try. Inside, it's very much your modern fancy locale. Open kitchen, high ceilings with exposed piping and metal painted black, marble tops to the bar and tables. A very fancy place. Our server was prompt and courteous, friendly and helpful. She checked in multiple times and always made sure our drinks were topped off. We ordered the meatball trio for me, the mussels for her, and the stuffed red hots to share. Food came out after a short wait, which gave us time to chat. The meatballs were great. The ricotta was just salty enough to help mellow out the sweet marinara and punch the flavors of the meatball. The texture of the meatball was dense on the fork when cutting, but melt in your mouth when eaten. It was seasoned, presented, and executed expertly. A very solid meatball. The mussels were advertised a spicy, but not so much. The flavor was great though. Bright, acidic tomatoes with bits of pork chorizo in a flavorful broth was a delight to savor with mussels or bread. The stuffed long hots were very hot, so much so that any semblance of filling was overshadowed by heat. But the peppers did have a great char and a good earthy tone to them. Overall, it was a very well done tapas lunch. It's got a bit of the modern chic going on, but they accept all. Was a great meal, and they are worth a trek

I visit the promenade at Sagemore frequently but never tried the food/drinks at LaScala's fire. I chose bar seating and ordered an expresso martini , vodka rigatoni, and TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CAKE. Everything was good! It was pretty busy for a Monday night. Not too loud but you could hear all the chatter from people talking.

    Cheesesteak eggrolls are amazing here

I've been here twice and both times had a great experience. The brick oven pizzas are really good. Definitely check those out. Cheesesteak eggrolls may be the best I've had. Not greasy and packed with ribeye. Skip the boneless wings though - small portion for the price and the "fire" variety were not only not hot...they were flavorless. My wife like her sushi roll. All around good food, and good service. Happy hour is M-F 3-6pm. Solid selection of beer on draft is always a plus for me too.

Early dinner (4:30pm Saturday) not too crowded we were seated right away. It does start to pack in after 5pm though. Parking lot is huge but you may have walk a little when crowded. The inside is impressive. Very industrial looking with a huge bar and nice booth seating as well as tables. Very clean inside. The staff was super friendly and professional. For starter we had truffle fries,Caesar salad and the Italian wedding soup. The soup was delicious! Definitely home made with tons of sausage, escarole and veggies. So good! I ordered a Mikes Hot Honey Pepperoni and Sausage pizza. Absolutely delicious! It's a 6 slice pizza brick oven style. Definitely getting that again. I'd totally come back here.

    Spaghetti w/clams

For the past few years, my family has come here to celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas with family that lives in the area, and it never disappoints! I've always had either the spaghetti with clams or eggplant parm. We've also always had the ricotta board, calamari, and Calabrian brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts are AMAZING. I don't usually like brussels sprouts, but these are so good I could've eaten the whole bowl myself. And it's a large bowl! The clams themselves are usually more seasoned than they were this time...maybe they need to be soaked in broth and seasoned w/more garlic. The tiramisu cake with chocolate shavings was sooo good! We only wish they didn't take the 4 cheese pizza off the menu. That was soooo good! The waitress, as with all past waitresses, was friendly and very attentive, checking on us often.

    Chicken Parmigian pannini

Had a great experience, the food was quite good and tasted fresh. I ordered the chicken Parmesan panini. The bread was fresh and crisp, the chicken was juicy and tender, def didn't overdue it with too much sauce or garlic but I had too add my own cheese. Next time I'll just ask for extra I definitely recommend this place.

We always have a great experience here! We love the cheesesteak egg rolls and chicken parm. We were skeptical when they added sushi, but it's now our favorite! Everything tastes fresh and well made. Our servers are always friendly, and we also had a great experience hosting an event here as well.

The pizzas here are the best ever. Very much enjoyed the mushroom truffle pizza and the fig and prosciutto pizza!! The calamari is interesting- I don't have the most advanced calamari palette and I enjoyed it however my boyfriend is obsessed with calamari and stopped eating it after the first couple because it was not crispy enough. The drinks were strong! Great place with nice live music on tuesdays-thursdays.

Do you offer "Gluten Free" Pizza and Pasta?

We do not offer gluten free pizza or pasta but have many gluten free items on our menu.

Is the margherita pizza vegan if the cheese is left off (sauce and dough vegan)? Same for the mista salad (no cheese or anchovy in the dressing)?

The margherita is vegan without the cheese. There is no eggs I'm our dough and no cheese in our pizza sauce. The mista will be vegan without cheese but make sure to ask for no bread, we use bread as a garnish and there is egg is our bread dough.

    Do you allow pets?

Yes we do. The whole promenade is pet friendly

Is it a long wait to eat outside during the weeknight? We would like to bring our dog.

Weeknights are usually not a long wait (only been 2 times on weeknights) and they always supply fresh water for our pup when outside.

Almost gave it three stars because of being rushed to finish our appetizers but more on that later…read more The outside of the restaurant isn't all that special looking, in fact one in our party walked right past while looking for it! Once inside, the feeling was a lot better. Not much in the way of art work on the walls, but still had a nice warm feeling. There were 3 of us and we did a lot of sharing. The Scallops in Shredded Filo was good but the Crab & Artichoke, with garlic aioli, parsley and capers was definitely "the winner". The Seafood Ceviche with scallops, halibut and shrimp was also delicious. While 2 of us were still enjoying our appetizers, our entrees were brought to the table and our plates moved to make room for them. I made the comment to no one in particular that I would try to eat faster as the seafood ceviche was pushed off to the side of the table. We had a 7 pm reservation and for the most part the restaurant was full by that time but we were not intentionally eating slowly. I could see if we might be taking up too much time eating and they had to move the tables but that was not the case as the restaurant was only half full by the time we left. For an establishment that is charging the prices that it is, Avg $18 for appetizers, high $30s for entrees, no one wants to feel rushed. The Halibut Almondine with Beurre Blank was good but not as good as we had hoped, with it being on the dry-side. The Dorado with Baby Vegetables was delicious as well as beautifully presented with "potato fish scales". A shared warm Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream completed our meal. Their menu is extensive making it an easy decision to return but I will mention that we would like a more leisurely experience this time around.

The Choice is one of those restaurants that appears to be hiding in plain sight. When we first…read moreconsidered dining here, noting that it had received very positive reviews from a variety of sources, we were surprised to find that no one of our acquaintance had even heard of the place, let alone darkened the door. And yet... when our party of three arrived for a recent Wednesday evening reservation, we found the 50-seat dining room full and joyously overflowing. ... And, given the fact that the menu is awash with a host of French and Asian fusion innuendos, you would probably never suspect that the restaurant is owned by two Ukrainian families. But, since the well-traveled co-proprietor Volodymyr "Vlad" Hyvel served as sous-chef in London's Nobu and also put in time at Le Cirque, Alain Ducasse and Jean-Georges, his diverse culinary inclinations make impeccably perfect sense. Matters piscatorial - both preludes and main courses - play a major role in Mr. Hyvel's repertoire. His starters, for instance, range from cold items such as Yellowtail Sashimi, Tuna Tartare, and Lobster Ceviche to a comforting tomato-y Fish Soup awash with shrimp & scallops. Among his starters, however, the chef's magnum opus proved to be his extraordinary Scallops in Shredded Filo (pictured). The rich & meaty deep-fried bivalves arrived at table accompanied by a zippy wasabi cream sauce... and were simply irresistible. Entrées are pretty evenly divided between "Meat" and "Fish and Seafood." In addition to Filet Mignon, Short Ribs, and Grilled New Zealand Lamb Chops with a spicy Peruvian sauce, the former category also included Chicken Teriyaki and Duck Canton splashed with a seductive caramel-coffee-orange sauce. Once again, however, for our party at least, seafood took center stage. My dining partners decided upon the Halibut and Branzino, respectively. The former was companioned by mushrooms and finished with a green pepper dressing; the latter was presented with creamy mushrooms, crisp potato balls, and a side of fennel dressing. My Wild Caught Striped Bass (pictured) was a particular treat, as the filet was wrapped in a crispy potato crust, served on a bed of creamy leeks, and splashed with a delicate red wine sauce. If The Choice has a weakness, it is their desserts. As noted above, appetizers & entrées are both delightfully innovative and cosmopolitan in scope. When it comes to sweet endings, however, options are exceedingly limited and creativity is conspicuous by its absence - Chocolate Meltdown with Vanilla Ice Cream... Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream... Warm Apple Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream... Ice Cream. You get the picture. Given the quality of all that has gone before, you expect more... and it simply isn't forthcoming. Just be prepared... Dinner at The Choice is not a cheap date. Those aforementioned highly-touted Scallops in Shredded Filo, for instance, will set you back $18.00. Lobster Ceviche goes for $28.00; with appetizers topping out at $32.00 for the Pan-Seared Foie Gras. Entrée-wise, that Butter-Poached Lobster will put a sizeable $60.00 dent in your wallet, while all finny fare goes for either $35.00 or $40.00. Meats are $35.00 per, with Chicken Teriyaki occupying the menu's bottom rung at $28.00. Even those rather nondescript downhome desserts will set you back $12.00 per. Given the current state of economic affairs, I am not suggesting that these prices are outrageous by any means. However, given the restaurant's location - the western 'burbs - and the laidback atmosphere and service, they are a bit on the heady side. Not exactly a likely candidate for a last-minute inexpensive casual evening out... Fortunately, the fact that you may BYOB helps to soften the blow somewhat.

You may have to fold your mirrors in to hit cars, I'm not exaggerating. I had envisioned a larger restaurant but this was small with maybe 7 tables. We sat at one with padded wooden benches that was comfortable. We were the only customers when arrived for lunch. The menu is limited and the waitress was as authentic as the food. There were some lunch specials posted but we opted to try three things: mushroom cheese bread, potato pancakes and the blueberry pierogies. The pierogies were definitely handmade and on the larger side as soon as you cut it open, the blueberries rushed out. There was a sweet sugary sauce on the top. That was unexpected. They were served cold and not warm. They were sweet. There were two of us and we each were only able to eat one of the six that came in the order. The mushroom cheese bread was drizzled with ketchup, which was unexpected that cheese was melting and gooey. Our favorite item was definitely the potato pancakes. They were cooked to perfection and the sour cream was the perfect condiment. They do have limited drinks here, including bottled water, cans of Pepsi and diet Pepsi, and some unique bottled drinks like birch water. The biggest drawback for the spot was that I just didn't think it was as clean as I would've liked it to be. It is authentic and as you eat, there is a man in the back that you can see making pierogies by hand. I'm glad that we tried this, but I'm not sure that I would return.

Everything was amazing from start to finish. I can't believe this is probably the best steak I've had in a very long time. At first glance, I was hoping to get some steak sauce, but as it turns out, it wasn't necessary at all. They have tenderized this steak and seasoned it incredibly. It was a very soft, juicy, and delicious piece of meat that needed no sauce. I was also a huge fan of the jelly crepes for dessert. The musaka was layered up with potatoes, ground beef & pork, topped with egg and cheese with a side salad of cabbage in a vinegar dressing. The flavors were very good and there was enough to feed two. The turli tava was really tasty. It was in a stew form and plentiful. It came with pita bread which allowed him to wipe the crock clean, as a good Italian is taught. The final scene included Honey Cake and Tulumba. The cake was finely layered and extremely decadent. The tulumba were also very good, small fried dough similar to churros, but soaked in simple syrup.
