This restaurant needs to stay on our radar more often! Il Villaggio offers a Happy Hour Menu with drink and food specials. It's $6 off bar menu items, $3 off cocktails and wine, and $2 off draft beers. Sunday through Thursday from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM. At the bar, we enjoyed the Filet Mignon Carpaccio, the Shrimp Spring Rolls, and we all shared the Homemade Gnocchi (Porcini cream sauce). Get the gnocchi! For dinner, we ordered the Homemade Lobster Raviolis, Penne Vodka (my love and I split this) and one of the ravioli specials. Everything was delicious. We sat at a high-top table in the beautiful bar area. It was lively and cozy. There was live entertainment but at a comfortable volume. The staff was very welcoming and warm. The staff was kind, though our waiter kept forgetting who ordered what and our food runner mixed up seafood gnocchi with my mushroom gnocchi, due to asking "and who got the gnocchi?" I do not eat seafood and was confused by the fishy smell and presence of meat. Luckily it was a simple cross-table mixup. Furthermore, the mushroom gnocchi was horrible. It was made with pure whipping cream, which is probably a valid Italian approach, but it had to have been 100g of fat, and it tasted like warm thick milk, with no flavor and minimal mushrooms. I felt sick to my stomach the rest of the night. The restaurant was packed and tastefully decorated. They have a great signature cocktail list but I couldn't hear myself or anyone at my table. Average decibel level was 85 through the course of our 90 minute stay. My ears felt raw once I got outside. Lastly, it's a mandatory (and complimentary) valet for parking. Just be prepared. If you like Italian, may be worth a shot. Folks were pleased with oysters and mashed potatoes at my table, but I have no desire to come back. read more

I really, really wanted to like Il Villaggio, and I'm surprised about the dining experience we had. This was my first time here, and my wife's first time in a while, however she's been here quite a few times in the past. We had reservations at 6:45pm on a Saturday night. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation and were seated in the corner of a little off-shoot room with only a handful of other tables. It did not feel like we were out to eat at an upscale restaurant. It took a long time for our server to greet us and we placed our drink order. Wine and cocktails. Our server came back a long while after and informed us the bar was backed up and she was still waiting on our drinks. After another very long wait, our drinks were delivered to our table. Everyone enjoyed their wine and my Manhattan was very good. Slow service was a very common theme all night long. It seemed like 30+ minutes between table visits from our server. Between four of us, we ordered two Caesar Salads to split. We also had a Shrimp & Clam Fra Diavolo, Gnocchi, and a Homemade Tagliatelle dinner special with clams, shrimp, and crab served with white wine sauce and arugula pesto. Again it took a very long time for our salads to come out and ages for our entrees. By the time our food was brought to our table I think we were all ready to leave. I think it's safe to say everyone enjoyed their meal but I cannot justify paying the prices Il Villaggio charges with the service provided. I also thought the portions were extremely small which again, I wouldn't have minded if the service was adequate. We did voice our concerns, which I dislike doing, but that's how bad it was. Our server apologized and advised us that they weren't expecting the restaurant to be as busy as it was. Not sure if that was an excuse or if they were actually short-staffed. They did offer complimentary Limoncello and desserts for the table. The Limoncello was probably my favorite part of the night. My wife and I split cannolis and there was also a Key Lime Pie ordered. The dessert tasted good, but after spending 3+ hours in the restaurant, we wouldn't have ordered dessert if it wasn't offered. To say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. I don't think I've ever waited so long for food and drinks at a restaurant in my life. The only way I'd consider coming back is if our plans were to have cocktails and appetizers at the bar. This was difficult for me to write. I don't enjoy leaving poor reviews. This was not worth our time or money. read more

Ruined an 80th Birthday Over a $100 Deposit I have hosted multiple large parties at Il Villaggio in the past, but after the experience we had for my mother's 80th birthday, we will never be back. We paid a $100 cash deposit to secure our booking and received a confirmation text as our receipt. However, when the bill arrived, the manager refused to apply the deposit to our check. He claimed we needed "proof beyond the text receipt"--a receipt they issued themselves. It was bizarre, illogical, and incredibly awkward to deal with in the middle of a milestone celebration. The manager was arrogant and demanding, with an attitude better suited for a bouncer at a tween roller rink than a fine-dining establishment in Cherry Hill. Despite our history as loyal customers, 100 person events that we have had, he showed zero professional courtesy. To make matters worse, I followed up via email and I have received no response and no apology. The hostess eventually sorted it out but no apology or follow up from our email wanting to discuss. It's a shame because we used to love this place, but the current management is driving away long-time patrons with power trips and poor accounting. If you're planning a special event, save yourself the headache and go somewhere that actually values your business. read more

I wanted to try an Italian restaurant location that I have never tried before. I scrolled through Yelp and found IL Villaggio. What a beautiful location! This is a large restaurant with regular dining seating, a bar area, banquet areas, and outdoor seating. It was a sunny but not too hot of a day so I chose outside seating. The penne vodka pasta had the perfect Al dente bite. The drinks were good! The dessert was decadent. My waitress Heather was so awesome. A long-time, reliable standby in Cherry Hill, Il Villaggio proved once again why it remains such a favorite. I hosted a staff dinner here, and the experience was a hit across the board. The holiday ambiance was warm and festive, the service polished and attentive, and valet parking made arrival effortless. We were seated promptly, and our server suggested ordering appetizers family-style--an excellent recommendation that set the tone for a relaxed, generous meal. I started with oysters on the half shell: beautiful Blue Points, perfectly shucked and served with a bright, classic cocktail sauce. Appetizers included crab cakes, tuna tartare, and grilled calamari, all well-executed and ideal for sharing. For entrées, I enjoyed the tagliatelle Bolognese--rich, comforting, and deeply flavorful. Others at the table ordered the gnocchi in porcini sauce (absolute heaven), chicken parmesan, chicken romano, penne vodka, and two of the seafood dishes, all of which were met with enthusiastic approval. Dessert was equally strong: cannoli, cheesecake, affogato--and I personally indulged in both the tiramisu and an affogato, a pairing I'd happily repeat. From start to finish, Il Villaggio delivered on ambiance, hospitality, and consistently excellent food. This was our second year coming here for our anniversary. We love everything about it here. We also sat at the bar tables for playoff baseball because part of our relationship is our love for baseball and it's playoffs baby! We split the buffalo shrimp appetizer which was excellent. The bread that came out the table was soft warm and fresh. Oddly probably for the first time ever we ordered the same thing. Chicken parm and as expected it was awesome. We ordered a side of pasta which came out hot and fresh with the perfect texture. For desert we had the cannoli and again it was amazing. As a treat we had chocolate martinis which were very different than other places we get them however that's not a bad thing because they were also excellent. A few things to note which I always look for. Everything here was very clean. Service was beyond excellent. Everybody who worked here was constantly moving there was never anybody ever just standing around if they weren't tending to customers they were cleaning something and that's the difference between dining and fine dining in my opinion. The food is always good but the service in Saturday is shockingly bad - at least in the room that I sat in. Our waitress was no where to be found ever as we watched many other servers rush around. In top of that, they brought our apps out and set them on a serving tray for no lie ten minutes without ever putting them on our table. Eventually, they came and got the two apps sitting by their lonesome and brought them to another spot in the room. Our apps came out about five minutes later (the same ones) and then I watched them give the apps that had been sitting by our table to another table that had sat down long after us. I was a little shocked. The Cesar salad tasted like it was just mayo as dressing. Not sure if they use mayo instead of egg yolks but it was just a mayo bomb and lettuce. I was recently in for a funeral luncheon and I was very impressed with the staff in general. They were extremely accommodating, very pleasant during a difficult day. Christian M was my tables main server and he was fantastic! He made sure we had everything just as requested and ensured we were well taken care of. First time here. It was Easter Sunday so very busy! Beautiful restaurant but it was raining and cold outside and they had the back double doors open! You can see all the customers putting their jackets back on. My husband had to ask to close doors. The food was mediocre at best. Three at our table ordered filet mignon all of them were tough and smaller than a hockey puck for $47 !Also, no sides with it have to buy à la carte! another three got chicken parmigiana and it was just ok again no pasta with it but it à la carte for $10 !All meals were not hot just about room temperature! Since when do meals not come with sides and have to buy à la carte! Plus all prices were higher than regular menu prices! read more

Perhaps the most disappointing dinning experience my family and I experienced in years. Our reservation was 6:30pm. Our waiter finally asked for our drink order and brought our cocktails at 7pm! Our food order arrived at 8pm, a full 2 hours after our arrival. The food was uneventful at best. Soggy salads and overpriced entrees of poor quality. Our waiter apologized for the long wait and said he notified his manager. Manager never showed up at our table! The waiter stated we would receive a complimentary "liquid dessert???".... a little shot glass with low quality lemon cello liquor.... not even asking if we even liked that specific liquor! What a disappointment. There are plenty of Italian restaurants ... find a better one as this place is a poor excuse for fine dining. read more

We came on a Friday around 5:30ish! We got seated right away and on the patio! It was nice outside and you can see fresh grapes and limes growing out on the patio! You see desserts walking by and staff moving around with smiles. We got 2 cocktails, I would say those we could have gone without. Everything else would get again!! The Maine mussels were huge and cooked great! The sauce was so yummy (white sauce). Fresh bread comes out for an appetizer. The waitress went over our specials. We ordered a salmon dusted with pistachio and a glaze. We also got shrimp and scallop pasta....whatever sauce that was it was soooo yummy!! We listened to live music as well. We dined at this restaurant on Thanksgiving. Our reservation was at 6:00, we were not seated until 7:30 because the hostess kept calling our home line knowing we were in the bar. I dined here for a work Christmas dinner December 2023. Dinner was good. When we all pulled in they were requiring us to valet. I did not care for that. I asked if I could park my own vehicle and I was told no. If I had known it was required valet, I would have ubered there. I have a brand new car that had not been driven in recent history. It was in perfect condition. I looked over the car quickly as I could when I left but it was dark. The next day I looked at the car and it had a 3" x 3" patch on the lower part of the left bumper that was ground down to metal. I was nauseated. There is no way this was done without the driver being aware. I called and left a vm. No reply. I sent an email to mgt. No reply. I knew they wouldn't be willing to help with the $1,000 body work fix. Only they have the camera footage from the property to see what happened. But, I would have appreciated being acknowledged as a customer with a reply. You shouldn't make your customers valet without notice. You should return people's calls and emails. I will never dine here again. Be wary with your cars as the valets will not treat your vehicle with care nor be transparent when an accident occurs. read more

Tonight brought me here for a retirement party. The room was very pretty - the staff, very courteous. Beautiful restaurant, overall. Thank GOD that I had lunch because the service was so slow and I don't fancy going to parties HANGRY! I would think that they'd be masters at party hosting / service ... not! My one poor co-worker was famished. Im sure others were the same. I was pretty darn hungry by the time the first course - pasta (interesting) arrived. It was excellent by the way! Next was salad - very good. I went with the salmon for my main course. Twas delicious! Coffee and cannoli for dessert. (I brought my cannoli home, as I don't like it). I used the bathroom before departing. It was cold, the faucet water was cold, and the Dyson hand dryers (you could also opt to dry your hands with dirty looking (rolls of) paper towels strewn about) were kicking out cold air! I couldn't wait to get out of there! what started out as a delightful evening spent with my sweetheart on Valentine's day. We went online to view menu and saw bronzino on the menu. Great we said. We got seated and was handed a set menu and it was not listed. Disappointed we picked a broccoli rob soup that was puréed to mush and tasted just as bad, lobster ravioli that had a nasty spice inside that was terrible.filet mignon was so tough and small. the only thing we enjoyed was the dessert . The outside seating in this restaurant is phenomenal. For appetizers we had Barada and the grilled calamari. Both were really, really really good. The cocktails here are awesome. The list has something for everybody, and if you want something off the list, they are more than accommodating. A party of eight came here on a Sunday afternoon for my mom's birthday. We over ordered appetizers. We all dove in and I forgot to take pictures! Everything was amazing! We got two orders of the burrata which had a crispy piece of pancetta on top with tomatoes and roasted peppers, a cheese platter, two orders of the clams with pesto (sauce was tasty for dipping), and grilled calamari. No leftovers! I would definitely get the clams again. For my main I got the whole Branzino. He filleted it at the table. It was very fresh and delicious although I found a few bones. I had the leftovers in a fish taco the next day. I paid extra for the broccoli rabe on the side instead of regular vegetables. They had the stoli dolis and we enjoyed those too. They have their liquor license now. I walked around the place to look at other rooms. There was a baptism celebration going on in one room and a funeral reception in another. It is an amazing space and we were all amazed we had never heard of it. We sat in a room with a nice fire. Some in my family complained that they sat all 8 of us around one round table but I liked it because no one was far away. It was a little tricky with all the appetizers but we managed. Loved the warm bread and the dipping oil too! Great food and portions were generous. Great service too and this crowd is very particular about that! We did not get to try the desserts because we brought a birthday cake which they cut and served. When the bill arrived they did not add a tip to our party of 8. First time here. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive. The soup (shrimp and crab) was decent. The lobster raviolis were not great. Sauce was good but the raviolis themselves were eh. I've had much better. My friend got a steak and I tried it. It was their special. Strip steak. It had absolutely no flavor or seasonings and I was glad I hadn't ordered it. I'll Villaggio has been a favorite birthday dinner spot of mine, so I decided to go back for my 32nd birthday. While the food and service was excellent, I had a few downsides to my visit this evening, but all in all it ended wonderfully. To begin, I made revelations maybe two months in advance (or close to it) to specify the spot I'd like for my dinner which was in one of the elegant rooms with white tablecloth covered tables. When my guests and I arrived, the hostess staff were incredibly unfriendly. They were around mid twenties of age. They often looked each other while we were talking to them and then snickered. I felt very uncomfortable. Once we were sat down, I was confused as to where we were seated which was in the room with the bar and a more rustic look and wood high top tables. If I were going to watch the game this would be fine, however well in advanced I did notate a special request to be placed in another room. I kindly told our server and the manager came over to move us. He was very kind about it and I appreciated that. We were sat in a more appropriate room with a round table with a white tablecloth and beautiful chandeliers. Our server was the kindest man who also had an appealing sense of humor. He made the night, I have to say. Our appetizers, meals and drinks were all perfect. I couldn't complain about any of the food. The meal I had was so good I plan on going back again for a normal dinner just to get it. I will say that during our meal and where we were sat, you could see some of the hostesses I mentioned earlier. They continuously stared at us and were very clearly talking about us. It was just very odd and I am surprised a restaurant like this hasn't noticed this behavior. At the end of the night, our server serenaded me with a guitar for my birthday and I loved it! As for the temperature in the restaurant, there was an on and off of air conditioning and it was October, so sometimes I was a bit chilly, but it wasn't constant so I was ok. So yes I will be back, however I truly hope they change who runs the hostess area. read more

We had the most amazing clams in white sauce on Christmas Eve. The right amount of garlic and seasoning - not too much, just enough to bring out the flavor of the perfectly cooked fresh clams. Love the service and the team at this South Jersey gem!!! read more
