My fitness-oriented friends have been posting pics from here for a while now, and it looked pretty swanky, so we thought we'd go check it out, with our expectations tempered by a smattering of so-so reviews. The menu is very wide-ranging (a bit of a red flag), so I asked our very courteous and knowledgeable server for recommendations and she steered me to the seafood risotto. My wife ordered the salmon with risotto. (she always orders salmon). While waiting for our food, I nursed a happy hour margarita, which was one of the best I've ever had. Now I know why it's so popular for happy hour. Our entrees arrived about 15 minutes later and we were dumbfounded by how stunningly good they were. Both were absolute home runs in every respect. The seafood risotto was packed with jumbo shrimp and other morsels of seafood on a bed of risotto that was just incredibly savory and delicious. My wife's salmon over risotto was similarly superb, with a milder risotto perfectly attuned to salmon's subtler flavor. There was just no end to the superlatives being expressed after every bite. For dessert my wife ordered the cheesecake with fresh fruit and I the creme brûlée. Naturally we tried each others desserts and switched since my wife liked the creme brûlée better and I the cheesecake. I normally don't order cheesecake because it's generally ultra sweet with no other flavor, but this one was wonderfully fresh tasting; I've never had anything like it! Four of us went for a dinner here on a Friday night. Wasn't too busy, but it was a holiday weekend. I guess everybody was at the shore. I looked at the menu earlier and was all set on getting a seafood dinner, but when we walked in the smell of steak was so good I changed my mind. We were seated quickly, and the service was excellent. Plus all our meals were absolutely wonderful. Steak was good, as expected for a steakhouse. One of us got clam chowder and a wedge salad. She's from Boston and she thought that was the best clam chowder she's ever had. It's New England style. Drinks were good, no complaints there. Dinner for four was about $300 including tip. A little expensive but not too bad for the quality of the food at a place like this. Good looking and friendly staff. I'll certainly go back. read more

This deserves 3.5 not 3 stars! My parents had always raved about this restaurant, so we finally dined here together. Unfortunately, they both said it wasn't the same as they remembered. The restaurant is beautiful and would be perfect for a date night or special occasion. Our waitress was friendly and honest, even mentioning that the chef had changed and some dishes weren't as good as before. We started with the crispy calamari, which was overly fried and lacked flavor. I also ordered the clam chowder and burrata caprese. The chowder was extremely salty and I couldn't finish it, while the burrata had great flavors but the dough was underbaked and too soft to even hold. My parents ordered the baby back ribs and steak frites, and both were disappointed as well. Overall, the atmosphere and service were excellent, but the food fell short. Maybe it was just an off day, but unfortunately it didn't live up to the glowing reviews my parents had shared. read more

As weird as it sounds this review is and is not what I imagined I would be writing. Prior to realizing the restaurant was attached to a hotel & not just to any hotel, but to an aLoft, I thought based on prior reviews I would be in for a treat, but after realizing it was attached to the aLoft my expectations were lowered. It was also Mother's Day brunch which I believe may have played a role in the overall experience too given the number of tables they were turning over, but with serving just a buffet and being what seemed like properly staffed I expected better. The food - horrible! I mean the warming dishes weren't even ignited and for the ones that weren't empty, the remaining scraps of food were overcooked, cold and beyond bland. Honestly better tasting food at a Chinese buffet. The "raw bar" was the best thing available - and that's only because they had nice sized shrimp but were out of whatever items were also supposed to be a part of it. My Bloody Mary was atrocious! Tomato juice and tobacco was basically what it was. Our server John was really nice and energetic and doing the best he could - everything he could control was controlled so he deserves more than the 2 stars this review is receiving. Oh and the best part, this was $75 per person and not including a single mimosa. But they did give all the women a single stem rose when the check was requested tho lol. read more

Dined here on a recent visit to New Jersey. Nice restaurant attached to a hotel in Mount Laurel Township. We called in for a the wait, a few minutes before we arrived. Our party of 5 was seated shortly. The ambiance was upscale. Full bar, nice decor and great wait staff. We ordered the Mediterranean Board for appitizers and it was nice. Also had a Center cut Filet. I had ordered to be cooked pink all the way with a hot center, bit it came out a bit overcooked than I wanted. All the same it tasted great. The asparagus went great with the stake and the brussel sprouts were very flavorful. Definitely a visit again the next time I am in the area read more

My wife and I visited Monterey Grill on Friday night for date night after receiving a recommendation to try it. We had 6pm reservations. When we arrived everyone was attentive and super nice. It wasn't crowded which was surprising. Our waited was Glenn who was very polite, friendly and accommodating. He offered us recommendations and was very cautious to serve while not rushing us. We started off with the Angry Cashew Shrimp which was Glenn's recommendation and it was amazing! We followed this with a 8oz filet each with the black garlic butter and I got the lobster tail on the side. Both entrees were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing especially with the butter added. We also got the Parmesan truffle fries and Brussel sprouts to share and both were out of this world as well. For dessert we shared the chocolate cake which was HUGE very good and moist. When we were leaving there was a band playing in the bar area and people dancing. Looks like it's a nice hang out on the weekends. When I walked in this place was busy!! Lots of people at the huge bar but I was able to grab a seat. A dip was setting up in the corner as apparently they offered live music on Fridays nights. The bar tender took my order but did not come off as friendly at all. I ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich with fries. The fries looked like it was from the bottom of the fryer. Just left over. I thought this place was great. I'd never been here before and had never even heard of it. Not going to lie, I was a bit skeptical pulling up seeing it connected to an Aloft Hotel. And they couldn't seat us in the outdoor patio that we requested. But once we sat down, we were pleasantly surprised. Almost everything on the menu looked interesting. Everything we tried was really good. The service was excellent. And the live music was good too. And unlike many places, they cooked our steak to the temp we asked for. we had a great meal the other night at monterey grill. we had a reservation, and were seated immediately, and greeted by our friendly server Brooke. she gave absolutely perfect service throughout. all of our appetizers were great, hearty portions and delicious.I enjoyed the crispy artichoke. entrees were excellent as well. I had the seafood cobb salad as my main, and it was quite large, I took some home and ate it the next day. desserts are made in house and very delicious. chocolate cake is a massive slice, so share it! This place is phenomenal! It started with Aiden the Valet, who made the first impression this was going to be a special experience with a warm welcoming smile. After we were seated, Glenn our server took care of us making sure drinks were perfect and food came out quick without rushing us. He set the perfect tempo for our fine dining experience. The food was all awesome! Rarely do I see a steakhouse get fish and chicken right. This is one of those places. I got the 12 oz filet, which was cooked Medium Rare. I got the Béarnaise Sauce, but didn't need it because the steak tasted great on its own. Over all, it was an excellent meal. Swung by this restaurant for the second time and enjoyed a good meal! My first time dining here I ordered the Center Cut Filet, but unfortunately found it to be a bit too undercooked for my liking and was not the biggest fan of the Roasted Mushrooms (gave a slightly canned vibe). But this time around I ordered the Seared New Bedford Scallops and it was divine - absolutely recommend! Loved the flavors and textures of the sauces with the pan seared scallops, and potatoes - and also enjoyed the free bread that came with the meal! Let me preface my review by saying this is not a typical $12-$15 dinner plate per person as the food here is on the higher end and quite exquisite. The Executive Chef was on Hells Kitchen in season 16 I believe. They did not win, but they went on to run successful restaurants. I was fortunate that a very senior leader with the company I work for was paying for our meal as I can't imagine how much it cost when we ordered close to 6 appetizers on top of the drinks and the meals. I went a bit conservative and went with their wagyu burger which was cooked to perfection. It came with some truffle fries, but the highlight of my dinner was the crispy bang bang calamari. Those were some of the most tender calamari I have ever had and the spice level was perfect. I nearly at an entire plate myself as I kept going back for more and more even after I told myself I should keep some room for my dinner. There was not one plate left with food one it when the 12 of us finished. Some may have taken small bites home with them, but food was incredible and the price absolutely meets the quality and quantity you would expect from a high-end steak house. I would highly recommend this place as a special occasion type restaurant as your tab can quickly make it to $100 between drinks and appetizers alone, but everything was great and the staff was very friendly and accommodating with any special requests. read more

Incredible food at Monterey Grill! We started with the Deviled Eggs 7/10, Local Burrata 7/10, and the Stuffed Meatball 6/10. For my main entree I got the Braised Short rib Ravioli 8/10 and I really liked it. The ravioli was cooked Al dente and very flavorful. Finally, on to my favorite part of the meal! The Bread Pudding with Bacon bits and Maple Walnut Ice Cream was absolutely incredible. Easy 10/10 for me. I would go back just for that. A pleasant surprise in Mt. Laurel as this restaurant is very nice. Clean, new, and stylish space with a good bar. Service was excellent and it wasn't crowded for a Sunday night. Manager and chef each checked in to ask how I was finding the food. Love a good aviation and there's was spot on. Other good cocktails on the menu. The burrata was excellent and reportedly sourced from local Amish farmers. Scallops were also great. Good sear and accompanied with nice potatoes and olive oil. A definite repeat for sure. read more

I wish I had gone to Monterey Grill sooner. What started as an accidental double-appetizer ordered situation due to a misunderstanding quickly turned out meant to be. Once both apps hit the table, there was absolutely no sending anything back. The tuna & salmon poke nachos were filling and abundant with fresh fish. Definitely ask for extra soy glaze and spicy mayo - the added drizzle takes them to another level. I usually don't order calamari without a classic red sauce, but this one came with a garlic glaze that surprised me. It didn't taste garlicky in the traditional sense. Instead, it had a nutty and sweet teriyaki-style flavor that was unbelievably good. I genuinely couldn't decide which appetizer I liked more. Another memorable feature was the delicious complimentary walnut raisin bread. The only thing that didn't earn a 10/10 score was the espresso martini. It tasted a bit watered down and lacked that bold espresso kick and let's be honest, the buzz you hope for. Not terrible, just underwhelming compared to how outstanding everything else was. The entrees were omg. The jumbo lump crab cakes were packed with huge chunks of real fresh crab. Whatever magical ingredient they used to bind it together was phenomenal. The crab cake itself was so good it didn't even need a sauce but it elevated it even more, adding the cherry on top of an already ideal crab cake. And the steak? Absolute perfection. A gigantic medium rare with a perfect flavorful sear. Tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. The chef truly knows what he's doing back there. Every dish (minus the martini) felt intentional, high-quality, and memorable. I thought this place would be stuffy, but the live music makes the restaurant lively and entertaining. Just got back from Monterey grill and felt compelled to write a review. I've been to dozens of high end restaurants and this was above and beyond the best service I have ever received. We had the please of having Bob as our server, and he went above and beyond. His recommendations were spectacular. He was very attentive and make sure we were taken care of at all points of the night. Everything was handled with great care, down to the smallest details. The lobster Mac and cheese was unbelievable, and will be something I think about for the rest of my life. Celebrated my 20th wedding anniversary here and this place is fantastic. The calamari appetizer was the best calamari I've ever had. Stayed at connecting hotel for the night so I decided to try the restaurant out. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were attentive. I started with the spinach and artichoke dip. The dip was good with a thick layer of cheese melted on top! The chips were homemade and fresh and a nice change to the typical store bought tortilla chip. I got the Caesar salad with salmon. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary yesterday at The Monterey Grill which opened last week next to Aloft Hotel in Mt. Laurel. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and every person who came to our table (we counted 10 different people) wished us a Happy Anniversary so you can tell communication is a top priority as we were treated as VIP. We were given complimentary Prosecco as we were looking over the menu. I had received an email from Harvest Seasonal Grill which is their sister restaurant for a complimentary starter. We decided on the tuna and salmon poke nachos. It had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy and very refreshing. For my entree, I tried the seared U10 New Bedford Scallops which came with 5 large scallops and potatoes on top of a pistachio gremolata. The scallops were cooked perfectly. My husband had the filet mignon which was very tender as it should be. For our side dishes, we had the Brussels sprouts and lump crab fried rice which were tasty. Our server, Ray, packed up our sides as we had plenty leftover. They give you a take home canvas bag which I was surprised to see as most places give you a paper bag. For dessert which they also comped us for our anniversary, we shared the cheesecake which was made in house. It was fluffy and absolutely delicious. The best cheesecake we have had in a while. The operating partner, Shaun O'Mara, came over to ask how our experience was and we told him we loved the cheesecake and he went to find out if the executive sous chef, Sally Ibrahim, was still there so we could tell her ourselves. She had left already but Shaun came back with the executive chef, Andrew Pearce, who competed on Hell's Kitchen Season 16. We enjoyed speaking with him about his experience on the show. Reservations can be made on Resy although last night anyone could have walked in as there were plenty of seats available. I think once word gets out this place will be packed. They do have valet parking but not necessary last night as there were plenty of parking spaces available. I really hope they do well as the food was amazing and service was exceptional. They definitely give you the VIP treatment. They also had a band playing in the bar area which was nice. read more

My husband surprised me by bringing me here for my bday. He and I were so happy afterwards as our meal and experience there was excellent. It's nice to have an upscale restaurant so close to home. It was beautiful inside. My husband said their dry aged steak is one of the best steaks he's had (which says a lot because he's pretty selective about his steaks). I loved my lobster pappardelle. I wish I was able to eat their apps since I'm an apps girl, but I knew it'd be too much food (next time!). But the reason we loved this place is their excellent and attentive service. Our server Y.N. was kind and helpful. Then we met Shaun who's the operating partner there. He overheard that it was my bday (my husband forgot to ask for a candle in our dessert which I was totally ok with), so he brought out a special extra treat with a candle. It's these thoughtful gestures that make the dining experience memorable, right? My husband and I said we'd come back for celebratory meals from now on. (Although I'm planning on coming back to sit at their bar since I loved their cocktails- filthy martini and espresso martini). Also, I LOVED their chocolate cake and cheesecake. Absolutely the worst service I have ever received. wait staff was rude and extremely slow. We waited at least 15 minutes before anyone even took our drink order. Waited over 45 minutes for our food And it arrived cold!!! Chef or cook whatever he was came out to apologize and he was just as rude as the wait staff!!! Ordered strip steak which was at least 3 inches thick and cooked to perfect medium rare. Black garlic butter, yum. Friend ordered crab cakes which were full of jumbo lump crabmeat. Husband had wedge salad which actually had cold frizzed onions. Could have been fresher lettuce and way too much bacon. We did think food temperature is a mild issue. I have dined there twice, the most recent on Friday, 10/17/25. Each time, the same band was playing extremely loudly throughout the dinner hours so that conversation at the table was almost impossible. When we asked out waiter he said it had to be loud to reach the farthest corners of the room but we were in the farthest corner of the room and it was deafening. This is the second time we have had that happen, so unfortunately, we will not be going back. The food and service were good but the music really ruined it all. read more
