    Chicken Sorrento

My girlfriend's family and I had 6pm dinner reservations on a Sunday night. This was my first time dining at Illiano in 5-6 years despite living only a couple of miles away and I have been missing out. Everything about our dinner experience was stellar. The first thing I noticed after being seated was how friendly and personable the waitstaff and management were. They're caring, accommodating, and speak to you like family. The dining room was full of patrons but wasn't overly noisy. Illiano is BYOB, We brought two bottles of wine to share They start you off with dinner rolls and pizza bread which is AMAZING! Even though I haven't dined here in years we do often bring boxes of pizza bread to parties and it is always a hit. Our server was awesome. One of the friendliest servers I've ever had. He had a great sense of humor, was always asking how things were and if there was anything he could get us, and was quick to return with everything we asked for. The food was great. We started with goat cheese stuffed artichokes and fried tomatoes. The artichokes were cooked til tender and served with prosciutto and a balsamic drizzle over arugula. The tomatoes were large and fried perfectly. We all ended up getting pasta. Gnocchi Bolognese, Gypsy with Penne, Linguini and Clams, and Chicken Sorrento with Linguine (my entree). The linguine was perfectly Al dente, ingredients were fresh, and both the clam and Sorrento sauces were flavorful. Portion sizes were huge and we all had leftovers to bring home. The entrees were all served with choice of soup or salad. We all chose salad. The dressing was delicious and it's to my understanding that it is house made. I'm not sure about everyone else but there was nothing I would've changed or preferred done differently. We were all too stuffed for dessert. I can't believe it's been years since I've eaten here especially since it's so close but I will be dining here more often. I already told a few family members we'll have to come back soon. Just a tip and there is a sign on the front door as you walk in but they do add 3% to your bill if you pay with credit card.

Nice dining atmosphere with comfy booths as an option. Two dining rooms - one has a view of a small pond. Almost always a lively atmosphere. Service is pretty good. Extensive menu. My favorite meal has been osso buco. I also like the different chicken or veal options over a choice of pasta service with soup or salad. I always get the soup. Their minestrone is very good. My meals have been usually good to great with the exception of my last visit when I got Chicken Maximo serve with old ruddy small asparagus pieces and a watery tomatoe based sauce. I will skip that in the future.

Following our first takeout we opted to dine in upon confirming they still follow Covid precautions, still being taken seriously, so you can check the box they absolutely are. Made a 3:30 late lunch early dinner (linner) for a Sunday figuring it would kind of empty, and slow, this way we can just chill and relax. We were shown to a lovely window table overlooking the pond and fountain. Our server Stosh immediately came over and introduced himself, welcomed us, our water glasses were filled, our bottle of wine was was opened and placed in a ice bucket, and a lovely plate of fresh baked goodies was brought to the table to start. We opted to forgo an appetizer being that we had our eyes on two very interesting dinner dishes which came with salad. my wife ordered the Pollo Maximo 2 chicken breasts, fresh tomatoes shiitake mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, mozzarella cheese in a sherry wine sauce served over pasta. And for my dish I had the Mediterranean zuppa do peace, jumbo shrimp clams muscles calamari and scallops combined in a zesty marinara sauce And instead of pasta I requested A side of spinach with garlic and oil, excellent choice. Both dishes were cooked to perfection the chicken was moist and tender and the seafood items were the perfect texture and firmness; all in all, made for a really great dinner. Stosh was as cordial as can be, accommodating as can be, and friendly as can be. Absolutely will be back next time will try to bring parents with us for a special meal. Be sure to see your food photos and vote for my review.

My best friend and I have been wanting to try Femmina since he moved to Medford a year again…read more Finally the situation presented itself and we decided to head there on a Friday night. The parking lot was PACKED and it took a bit to find a spot. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait, which was significantly less than I thought considering they do not take reservations for parties less than 6. We were actually sat in 15 minutes and our server brought us waters and Arnold palmers while we perused the menu and specials. After placing our order, a food runner brought us buttery warm garlic rolls and a different style of crusty bread as well. We decided to start with the arancini ( Italian rice balls) which came with four huge rice balls stuffed with a ground beef bolognese style and served with marinara. Our house salads came with a thousand island style dressing and consisted of chopped romaine, grape tomatoes, and cucumbers. Very basic but the dressing seemed like it could be made in house. For our entrees, I did the limoncello chicken and my best friend did the paparadelle with lobster. Mine had the most decadent lemon cream sauce bathing several chicken cutlets covered in crab meat with melted cheese and a huge mound of capellini. His was covered in chunks of lobster claw meat, mushrooms, prosciutto, and peas with a sherry blush sauce. Both entrees were huge and we took more than half home but everything was delicious. For dessert we opted to share the tiramisu since it's made in house. It had a thin layer of chocolate on top, which made for the most delicious mocha flavor. Our server was wonderful, the place was packed with people celebrating birthdays and everyone sang every time another candlelit dessert was paraded through the dining room. The ambience is cozy and comfortable and I can't wait to go back!

Femmina has a good size lunch menu and the prices were reasonable for lunch, especially with how generous the portions were. Entrees were served with a house salad and complimentary breads that were delicious. Our server was fantastic, she spent a lot of time in Italy and explained that the owners were from the Naples area. Both our dishes were very good and we took some home to eat as left overs for dinner. I would definitely return to Femmina Italian Grill.

We arrived a little over 15 minutes before our reservation and were seated immediately. I love the size of the restaurant. Compact with tables set very close together adds what feels like a small, homey vibe to your dining experience. Our server was outstanding! He brought energy, knowledge of the menu, professionalism, and class. He elevated our experience and may have been the best server we've had at ITA since we've been frequenting. When dining at ITA, like always, we always have to order a variety of dishes to split. We started with a perfectly cooked Oven Roasted Cauliflower appetizer. Split 3 different pastas: a rich & savory Carbonara (probably the star of the night), a gorgeous cavatelli with tender wild boar ragu, and a spicy but balanced capellini with spare ribs. All of their pasta, of course, is made in house and is beautiful and rustic, and is always cooked perfectly Al dente with a great bite. The combination of the creaminess of the sauce, the saltiness and texture of the guanciale, and the doneness of the tagliolini; led us to agree that the Carbonara was our favorite. We were split on the other two, but you can't go wrong with any of the pasta dishes on the menu. We've never had one we weren't blown away by. The entree we chose was a fluke stuffed with shrimp and served over a bed of shiitakes. The crust on the fluke was to die for and the presentation couldn't have been better. ITA is always such an elevated dining experience. You'll be hard pressed to find local, authentic Italian food that is as unique as it is here. There are a couple things we really love about it here other than what I've already mentioned earlier in this review. First, it's great that it's BYO as it helps offset the prices (which are well worth it for the quality of food served) as we can split and enjoy a nice bottle of wine with dinner. Second, the menu is constantly rotating every week and part of their menu highlights and features different regions in Italy. There are always new menu items we've never had before. I'm sure my wife feels the same, but I already cannot wait until we're back dining at ITA101.

When we first arrived, we were greeted by a gum-chewing hostess and seated right away, which was fine. It took a few minutes for our waiter, Juan, to come over and take our order. We didn't order any appetizers, so our salads came out quickly. After that, we waited...and waited...and waited. The delay was long enough that the manager came over to ask how everything was and whether we were interested in dessert. I had to tell him that we hadn't even received our meals yet. When the food finally arrived, everyone else enjoyed their dishes--veal parm, chicken franchise, and a few others. I ordered the special, described as a porterhouse pork chop with potatoes, vegetables, and a mushroom cream sauce. Thankfully, I asked for the sauce on the side, because it was very sweet--even the waiter mentioned that. The pork chop itself was cooked the way I like it, but it was not a porterhouse cut. A true porterhouse pork chop should be bone-in with both the tenderloin and loin sections. What I received was more like a pork loin cut, and while it was listed as 16 oz, it didn't appear to be anywhere near that size. Moving forward, we'll likely take a break from Casa

When we arrived there were a few people dining in the restaurant, a couple sitting at the bar, and a lot of empty tables closer to the front of the house. The hostess greeted us and told us it would be about 7 minutes before we could be seated. We sat and waited, thinking maybe they were expecting several tables with reservations but no one came in as we sat and waited. After about five minutes we were asked if we wanted a table or booth and were sat. This was the only time during the evening that things weren't close to perfection. Our server came to get our drink order and I mentioned a drink I love but that wasn't on the signature drink list. He knew the ingredients and said they'd make it for me. They brought over their bread basket which consisted of three different styles of breads including a pizza style bread, small pizza crust like bites with pesto, and regular Italian style bread. We started with the zucchini fritti which was thick cut zucchini fries with freshly shaved Parmesan on top and a marinara for dipping. The ONLY thing that could make this any better would be a lemon garlic aioli dip, but it was nearly perfect. For our entrees my best friend did chicken parmigiana and I did the chicken Bella Donna, which had mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes and asparagus in a brandy cream sauce with mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley. My entree was so good I took it home and had the other half for lunch the next day, and I'm not a leftovers girly. We skipped dessert since it was late but next time I would love to see their dessert options. I was so pleasantly surprised by how good everything was and I can't wait to come back!

I rounded down instead of up because of my personal experience that night, but I could see that half star going either way. ANYWHO, Cucina Carini.....a local pizza shop that has an attached dining room that, while pretty small, is also pretty nice. BYOB, which we didn't know heading in, and unless we are missing something, the only beverage options are either water, or whatever YOU bring. (We weren't asked what we would like to drink, nor saw any beverage options on the menu.) SO, water it was, which was fine with ME anyway. ALSO, another thing not listed on the *dine in menu,* is that they DO have a kids menu, which consists of what you would think it does; chicken fingers, fries and the like. We sit and get to work looking over the menu. We land on crab ravioli for me, (crab meat, asparagus & plum tomatoes in a sherry cream sauce), potato gnocchi for The Misses (With spinach & bacon simmered in a gorgonzola cream sauce,) and the chicken fingers meal for The Little One. Entrees comes with soup or salad (soup for her, salad for me). Where CC is losing some points is on service. Our server was fine, but the kitchen was very mixed up. When we sat, our Little One was being a kid, so while getting her situated, we ordered all of the mains. About 5 minutes later, when the server brought the bread over, we asked to order an appetizer of fried mozzarella (which I assumed would be the fresh mozzarella, breaded and fried, but instead was the packaged Sams club type breaded sticks variety..the menu says "Fried Mozzarella, Breaded mozzarella, fried golden crisp & served with marinara sauce. Nowhere does it mention "sticks." *shoulder shrug emoji*). In rapid succession after that, the kids meal came out, and then, and I mean probably 3-4 minutes after ordering the mozz *sticks,* THEY hit the table. Still no soup or salad. The mozzarella sticks were made suspiciously fast. Maybe 15-20 minutes later the ENTREES hit the table. The server does recognize that she never brought the soup or salad, and offers to put them in To-Go containers. *second shoulder shrug emoji* The entrees themselves were good, not great. Decent flavor, but both dishes underseasoned. A little salt would have gone a long way. I had to add parmesan cheese, red pepper flake, and some salt myself to coax a better flavor out of my ravioli. The Misses's gnocchi also needed some doctoring to bring out some true flavor. The kids meal was a generous portion size, but then again, it WAS $13, so..... We decided to actually do dessert, as The Little One wanted cake, and I had seen a picture of the Peanut Butter Bomb, and absolutely wanted to try it. One bomb, and one Lemoncello Cake slice was the order. The Lemoncello cake was good, but again, lacking in deep flavor. You got a hint of lemon, then the rest of the bite was chewing on air. It speaks to the lightness of the cake crumb, but the flavor needs to be punched up. The Peanut Butter Bomb however; no notes. Delicious. Chocolate mousse on top of a peanut butter mousse, on top of a chocolate cookie type base, the whole thing covered in chocolate and peanut drizzle (?) and sprinkled with peanuts. Definitely the best thing I ate here. SO, all things put together, it wasn't a bad night. Service was a little slow, which was only really a problem because we had a squirmy 7 year old. I probably would have appreciated the pace if it were The Misses and I just sipping a bottle of wine. But, the kitchen course timings and mix up, plus the muted flavor of pretty much every dish knocked it down a few pegs. I could see Cucina Carini easily being a 4 star spot and a go-to, "our spot" type place, it just didn't get there for me on my one visit. It's a little far from us, but if I'm in the area, I would definitely give it another shot.
