I found a Groupon for the restaurant and we used it for my birthday. We were the only customers at 5 pm but by 6, the restaurant was fairly full. Not cheesecake factory menu size but big enough to find something you will like. I highly recommend the crab and corn appetizer and they should have it as a main dish. The fettuccine was very good. I was really looking forward to this place and am bummed by the whole experience. The only part I enjoyed was how friendly the staff was. The hostess was welcoming and checked on us once we were seated. We were greeted immediately by our server and she was attentive throughout the evening. The menu on their website is much bigger than what was on the menu given. They were not offering most food until after NYE and were only offering NYE menu at the time. This special menu was very small and when I asked for the full menu that had pizza, we were told that's not an option. We pointed to the bar where pizza was and asked why they have it and she didn't answer. She just said pizza is not available until after NYE. The table behind us was then served pizza after we ordered. People next to us as the bar were served it as well. The hostess walked past us with two to go boxes of pizza as we were leaving for someone to come pick up. Unsure why they were all served it but we were denied the service. The ladder at the bar looks really cool but they kept moving it which was very disruptive. It's incredibly loud and high pitched squeal. We were shocked by the prices of the entrees. They were much higher than what is listed online on their own website for the same menu items. Montepulciano is peppery and bitter. They had a good assortment of beer choices! Caesar salad is good. Fresh crisp romaine. Dressing isn't that great. Watery with a vinegar citrus flavor. Not creamy. Brussel sprouts are ok. They're hard in the middle and mushy on the outside. Cream sauce is bright with citrus and rosemary I think. The earthy flavor of the Brussels overshadowed everting else. We chose inside due to breezy conditions. First impression was casual server with dirty apron. Partner got pasta. I had the overcooked salmon with corn risotto. We hosted a bridal shower at Avola this past weekend and the event was perfect! As the MOH, I arrived early to set up. I arrived an hour and a half early and the staff had already set up the tables and chairs. They were so kind and extremely helpful! They helped me carry floral arrangements and décor from my car and consistently asked if I or the other bridesmaids needed anything. I know one of their names was Riley but I cannot remember the others' names. The ambiance of the restaurant went perfectly with the theme of the shower - Tuscan (lemons). The food was also delicious. We started off with meatballs and calamari, followed by a Caesar salad and I had the salmon, which was delicious. A few people at my table ordered the chicken which they were surprised to find out it had come in a sandwich (it did not specify that on the menu). The servers were very attentive to our needs. The drinks had taken a bit long to come out, but it was likely one bartender for a group of 30 people mainly ordering cocktails. I decided to try it out after passing by a few times and getting a good report from someone else. It was very quiet at the time I arrived which was after 1:00 PM and the lunch crowd. I had a seat at an outside table under their pergola which gave a good amount of shade. My server, Shannon, was attentive and took good care of me. I started with the Insalta D'Estate or Insalata Avola which I loved. It had a great proportion of crunchy, leafy and soft ingredients (House Mix Greens, Olives, Radish, Cucumber, Carrots, Roasted Peppers, Marinated Artichokes, Pickle Onion, Feta) without being overpowered by the Roasted Tomato Vinaigrette. My main course was the Meatball Sandwich. It was a 6 inch hoagie filled with 4 huge Fresh Ground Pork and Beef Meatballs smothered in red marinara sauce and melted Fontina and Parmesan cheeses. Do not wear a white shirt or light pants because they will certainly attract some marinara sauce splatters. The portion was too big for me to finish. We came to this restaurant many years ago and said never again. Well many years passed and our friends had a GROUPON. Beware this term. Just because you can save money doesn't mean that you are going to have a good meal. Seems there was only one person taking orders while teaching a new employee the ropes at the same time. There was another employee delivering the food and then the manager making sure things were going smoothly. Drinks came out in a timely manner and we had the Potatoes Bravas, Wild Mushroom Toast Bone in Rib Eye and Cioppino. Whether it was my fault or the preperation of the potatoes- the spice level of the potatoes as well as the sauce was supper HOT. I asked for some sour cream and that came spiced too? Hmmm The rest of the table ate it. The mushroom toast had a half a container of salt in it. ?? Really. I was starving at this point. The Rib eye was cooked medium rare and was delicious and the Cioppino was just okay. When the bill came the server gave us someone else tab. It took two attempts to get this corrected. When I got home and looked at the bill I found that you get a better deal paying in CASH than Credit Card. I was not aware of this nor do I care. We WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. read more

This restaurant gets a solid 4. The food here is very good, but there's something about the ambiance that my husband and I didn't enjoy. The decor inside is beautiful, but we felt that that seating was way too crammed and overly filled for the size of the building. The waiters kept bumping into our table during our whole time there. That aside, what bothered us the most was it was extremely noisy - literally every word during our conversation my husband was like "What? What? I can't hear you over the crowd." And it felt like we were yelling. The food itself was great. My pork chops were cooked perfectly and covered in a really sweet gravy. My husbands Bronzino was also prepared really nicely. I got our son some buttered noodles and even those were really tasty too. The real star of the show was the pizza. I didn't get a photo, but the margarita was delicious. Great bread, the right amount of cheese and a sweet sauce. I would come again but during a quieter lunch hour perhaps. I hate to have to put such a negative review out but it's warranted when food safety and customer service is important! When you find foreign objects in food, that poses a safety hazard. I had food to-go from the evening prior and found three chunks of cardboard today when eating for lunch. Imagine if your kid was eating that and didn't know what it was and choked?? Not to mention, having to call three times to get the phone picked up is inconvenient and to have a full voice box is also not appropriate for a restaurant. Even when picked up, the employee has no concern over hearing a foreign object was found in food and asks for me to call later, not taking down a name or complaint. We did take out the last 2 times and both times the order was incorrect . 1st time I ordered the beet salad with shrimp , no shrimp . Spoke to the manager and she did say she would make it good next time . I let it slide . Today ordered the same beet salad with shrimp add on and the shrimp were there but ... Had chicken parmigiana. It was ok - little salty and garlicky. My issue was the undercooked pasta. It needed about 2-3 minutes to be al dente. So it was inedible. Asked for a side of pasta that was cooked longer and was served a side of undercooked pasta. How can an Italian restaurant not know how to cook pasta? For the record, I like my pasta al dente. I'll begin this review with a disclaimer that the quality of the food at Avola is wonderful. However, the experience we had when we had with our takeout order about a week ago was far less. One of the items we had ordered was a beet salad which we expected would be a full serving of a salad. What we received was a nice salad, but a far smaller serving, something more akin to a side salad on a dinner plate along with an entree (based on our experience of having ordered salads from Avola before). We did call the restaurant later to ask if there had been a mistake. I was told no, and that the manager was very busy to speak to me right away, and if we still had concerns, they would call us later. A week later, still no call. My work choose this place for our group party. We were squeezed into a tiny area not fit for the group size with only standing room and a few high tables. Note there were No other people in the place at that time and not for a while during our event...not enough tables for everyone to put one plate on and no chairs at all. We consumed one of the appetizers quite quick and after 45-60 min of waiting I figured that they were not replenishing. My coworker asked and then they brought out more. I would give it five stars if the music wasn't so loud from the bar area and in the ladies room. I just like music that is part of the background and doesn't sort of make your teeth stand on edge. I have dined at Avola many times, but this past weekend I hosted my daughter's bridal shower and cannot say enough about how perfect the venue was for this event. Anthony was the manager that day. Anthony and his staff made sure everything was perfect. They were attentive and made sure that all the needs of all 46 of us were met. Prior to the event, I worked with Patty to select the menu and the best way to arrange the tables so that people could mingle and we only wanted one long table for the bridesmaids. My daughter could not have been more pleased. Many of our attendees had never been to Avola before and plan to go back. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and we worked around their Italian blue theme with our She Found her Main Squeeze theme. Parking is plentiful which was definitely needed on this rainy day.
