Beautiful restaurant in the heart of West Chester on a very vibrant street (Gay Street). I was impressed from start to finish. Our server was awesome, she was able to elegantly go over the vast number of appetiser and main food additions, without having to refer to any notes. I had the calamari salad. It was very good. Nice balance of flavours, arugula and shaved Parmesan, with just the perfect amount of dressing. For my main entree, I chose one of the special additions, Fettuccini dish that included, muscles, nice size shrimp and olives. This dish was amazing! I couldn't finish it all. Can't wait to enjoy the next day! They also have a nice cocktail and wine menu. I got a dirty martini with blue cheese olives, yum! Overall, a great experience. This is a nice restaurant, but the food was not very good. The wait staff was friendly and my drink was ok. I had the Della Chef salad and I tried my best to eat it but it was not edible. They brought us bread with no butter or olive oil. We had to ask for the olive oil. The bread tasted stale and wasn't very good at all. We started with the Brussel sprouts and they were just mid. Nothing exciting about them. They drowned my salad in dressing. Way, way, way too much dressing. If they used half the dressing that was on there, it would have been too much. My tongue was hurting after 3 bites. I really wanted to like this place, but the food just did not hit. We had a 17-18 person wedding rehearsal dinner on Thursday 10/16 and everything was absolutely lovely!! The appetizers were fantastic and we had SO much food. The entrees were also fabulous! I loved the meats & cheese, the figs wrapped in prosciutto, the giant meatball, the burrata, calamari, and shrimp. Everything was seriously great. Our server was fantastic!! So helpful too. We had the whole downstairs private room with the bar. The space was beautiful and my mother in law brought her own decor and they let her make the space extra nice. She also brought in florals. We met friends for dinner at Teca in West Chester. Although we've been to the one in Newtown Square, this was our first visit to their West Chester location. We liked the darker, pub-like decor of this one more than the one in Newtown Square, especially since we were seated in a booth away from the bar. It was noisy but not so loud that we couldn't have a conversation. Service was on the slower side maybe because the restaurant was busy. My husband and I shared the Dello Chef salad with crumbled Gorgonzola. It was a good size for sharing. For the table, we also ordered one of their huge meatballs which was one of the best we've had. As an entree, I had the Linguine Allo Scoglio with mussels, clams, calamari, and shrimp. I was happy that they didn't shy away from a little heat as the dish was topped with a slightly spicy San Marzano tomato sauce. It was hot and delicious, and I ended up taking some of it home. My friend liked her Gnocchi Pomodoro, and her husband said the Chicken Parmigiana was equally good and filling. Both left with leftovers. My husband liked his lasagna too which arrived in a mini pan. We made reservations for Teca during a West Chester downtown event and open table said they had no availability. Called the restaurant and they got us in before the dinner rush. We went and were seated right away and the place was busy. We ordered the special ravioli and it was awesome but the gnocchi dish was just ok. They do not bring you bread unless you ask. Many people get drinks and eat at the bar. Our server was great! This place may be better during the summer when they have outdoor seating. read more

I have been there plenty of times and it is pricey. I go there mainly because one of my family members has been going there for years and they request going there for lunch. The service is always good. The lobster ravioli is my favorite. Other people of my group have had the chicken Parm and the Shrimp Risotto both were average. The sauce was nothing special for an Italian restaurant. The next entrée I like is their lasagna. Teca it is not one of my favorite restaurants in the area mainly because of parking. It's hard to find a parking spot on the street and if you park behind the restaurant it's nine dollars to park there for as long as it takes to eat a meal. I would rather go to a restaurant where they have their own parking lot, also the parking is tight and difficult to maneuver around while finding a spot read more

They have an entire menu boom of just wine; I've never seen so many wine options before. I had The Bitter Man drink which was delish. It tasted like a Manhattan- Old Fashioned hybrid. It was smooth and strong with just a hint of sweet. Highly recommend. The starter hummus plate was a great start. I loved the roasted peppers with it. Great customer service. Our server was attentive, personable, and efficient. She did a great job fulfilling all of our requests. The food was spot on. We had mussels in red sauce and the sauce was perfect! Garlicky, a hint of spice, and not too chunky. I have the burrata app as well and it was good- not enough salt, and I would try something different next time. For my main I had ziti with grilled chicken in a white sauce. It could have used some lemon peel and peas to brighten it up a bit. I had this drink they call the Sazerac and all I needed was ONE, lol. I guess I have a love-hate relationship with Teca. I do like the vibe and the outdoor seating. And I will say that their wine by the glass selections are typically outstanding. Stopped in last night to have a quick bite before the show - we got the cheese and the charcuterie boards. I will tell you that for the price both of them were lackluster. Not awful but simply little imagination - the charcuterie board Was more like cold cuts. The part that really got me was the very slow service. There are parts of the restaurant that seem quite comfortable and cozy; however, do not sit in the back room. We were a party of 2 essentially in a small table in the aisle. I have never seen more tables jammed into a small area. Very loud. Servers were very pleasant and prompt. Had the calamari (average, nothing special) Chicken parm easily the worst piece of chicken I have ever had. You could not cut it with a chain saw. The other piece seemed "ok" The pasta side was smothered in sauce (way too much for my taste). My friend had a cesear salad (I can make one much better in 5 minutes). Stopped in on a very rainy Saturday night and was not disappointed! There was a private event going on upstairs and the dining room was quite full,, but we were able to sit right away with no reservation. We were seated upstairs in a separate room with no other people in it. By the end of our dinner, other people were in the room but it was a bit awkward. All the staff we talked to were very nice and accommodating. We got the burrata (recommended by waiter) and Calamari di fritti for apps. They brought out bread and olive oil too. We got the tortellini special, lobster ravioli and rigatoni for our entrees. All was delicious! I also got an orange martini, which was very good. Everyone loves Teca, it's a West Chester staple. The staff is almost always professional and the food is phenomenal for the area. We've also had several events here including a large gathering where we rented the entire side room. All great experiences. Worst experience here, will never come back and urge others to do the same. Ordered the $49 New York strip, the cut of meat was literally awful and disgusting, so chewy I almost choked. The steak had visible thick vein lines throughout. I tried both ends of the steak and it was the same. Immediately alerted the waitress. She talked to Gene the manager and he came over. He was extremely rude and condescending. Telling me he can have the kitchen cut it up for me, which is what he proceeded to do (not sure how that can improve the cut?)- never offered another entree or to remake it. It came out - still disgusting and I did not even have a bite. He took the plate away. Then Gene refused to remove it from the bill even though he took my entire plate of food away. What an awful manager - still charged me half of the steak. So left without eating anything. Gene is an awful manager and a poor representative of this business. He also treats women very poorly. Our visit was the first for all of us, an indoor booth of 6. Cassandra could not have been nicer or more attentive and accomplished. She took great care of us. Our seating was 4:30pm on a Saturday. The outdoor sidewalk/street setup looked great too but we opted for indoor reservations due to possible weather... Drinks were great, tap beer was tasty, wine by the glass started off well and evolved into a bottle for table. Hummus, grilled octopus, bread and mozzarella started us off. The hummus was wildly great! Veal chop, lobster ravioli, NY Strip (with mushroom/gorgonzola), rigatoni, lasagna, all fabulous entrees. The tiramisu to finish was exceptional. One chocolate cake made an appearance as well and disappeared too. I know there are a lot of choices in West Chester, we were visiting, this choice was made for us; it was a good one! This is a really good restaurant and the service is incredibly attentive and friendly (5 stars for the staff) but the food was not knocking my socks off! The bruschetta flavors were interesting and worth trying (honey lavender was what we went for) but I wished the bread was toasty; it felt like a fresh sliced loaf. Also had the app with the fried tomato and mozz which was good but nothing special. We also shared the bucatini which was very good I will say but had a robust tomato sauce that I know some like but I discovered I didn't. Atmosphere was fine, it was happy hour and the bar was crowded which I came to learn was because the happy hour specials are only at the bar. Would I return? While driving from NYC to Ellicott City, MD, I needed a halfway point to stop for lunch. I sure am glad I chose this venue. Food: we had the fried calamari and meatball for appetizer. The squid ink risotto and the branzino for main course, and skipped dessert. We found the calamari and meatball to be superb, although a bit tiny in terms of portion size. The squid ink pasta was a bit more on the salty side, and the branzino appeared slightly overcooked, but enjoyable nonetheless. Service: impeccable. We had everything we needed when we needed it. Decor: the booth seat appeared to have sustained significant damage over the years - our daughter was a bit scared to sit on that spot, but other than that, we were quite comfortable. read more

Their lobster ravioli honestly made my entire birthday. Pillow soft pasta, delicious filling, and a crema sauce that was delicious in a way I still can't fully articulate. I honestly think about this ravioli on a weekly basis and cherish the day we will be reunited again. The fries were a decision we made after having one too many adult beverages but they were some of the best fries ever. The broccoli rabe was not my fave and had a bitter taste but the rest of the food was too good for me to care. They let my partner bring the birthday cake to the restaurant in advance so they could surprise me with it after dinner. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. Worst experience we've had in 40 years of dining in West Chester. The manager was terrible. Our server did the best with what she had to work with. Appetizers took over an hour to come out. I'm ok with ordering a second drink. But they wouldn't comp the 3rd. Dinner was another hour and came out over cooked. The bill for the seven of us came to $400. My daughter in laws parents picked up the tab. It was my daughter in laws birthday. Two of our dinners were sent back, burnt and uneatable.. I would have paid for the drinks and appetizers. We had reservations and were seated immediately upon arriving to the restaurant. Within a few minutes, the waitress came over and took our drink order. Teca has a decent list of drink options, from beer to wine and mixed drinks, so even the most bibulous will be content. The food menu has a variety of appetizers, salad, pasta, pizza, and special dishes. The table started off with an order of fries and fried calamari to split. For the main course, I ordered chicken marsala, and all I can say, it was delicious! The chicken was cooked to perfection; the mushrooms and sauce added the right amount of flavor, and the mashed potatoes and vegetables (broccoli and carrots) were the perfect side. Also pictured is the pan fried chicken parmesan, Teca tonnata, and New York strip steak. Everyone had high remarks for their main courses. For desert, we ordered the Oreo cheesecake with whip cream and a cup of vanilla ice cream. It was the perfect way to finish off an already delicious dinner. Been coming here for a couple of years. Definitely a little more upscale environment compared to other options, and a higher price point. But I've enjoyed every dish I've had - from the chefs specials and the chicken parm, to the softball-sized meatball and pasta dishes like penne alla vodka, lobster ravioli. The chicken Marsala is also a great choice if you seek a protein as your meal. The chef's specials are often intriguing and consistently very good, if not a bit on the pricier side. A pleasant and relaxed dining experience that is amplified further if you visit during the summer and choose to dine al fresco and order a glass of wine. The service is also attentive and consistent, with solid recommendations. Overall, a very good option for a date night - especially during the warmer months. My wife and I met friends this evening in West Chester. We made reservations at TECA for 6:00 and all seemed well. It was a beautiful night, and we sat in a nice spot and were pleased with our seats. That's when things went bad. The bathrooms were missing toilet paper. Our server was not very attentive and seemed overwhelmed, so service was slow. She seemed inexperienced and poorly trained. We ordered a few drinks and the Berry Mule tasted like cough syrup and returned it. We placed our order for entrees and appetizers and waited for 30 minutes only to be told that our apps order was never placed, and our entrees were just about ready, so we ditched the apps. Entrees were delivered 20 minutes later. In the meantime we had to ask for bread and oil like every other table got because were quite hungry. We had two orders of the Dover Sole served at market price which we were never told by our server. Instead of a thick, buttery and flaky fish, we were served 4 thin slices of what amounted to fish jerky swimming in butter lemon broth with a small side dish of mashed potatoes and roasted veg. Each dish was $58. We paid $116 for 8 slices of fish jerky! We asked our server for salt and were told that she didn't know where it was. It's a freaking restaurant! You don't know where the salt is? So, we went without. They should be embarrassed. Used the bathrooms on the way out and still no toilet paper. Such a disappointing experience. The TECA in Newtown Square is so much better. read more

What happened to Teca? We were away for 8 years. It was one of our favorite spots. Went with friends last night. We arrived at 8:30 PM . Waited until 9:30PM for bread and appetizers. I will start by saying the food and our server were very good. My issue and it is a pretty big issue is, verbal badgering and abuse by the manager to the young staff, the hostess in particular. It was later for us to be eating dinner so we stayed but if West Chester wasn't so slammed and we could have gone elsewhere we would have. The manager (could have been the owner I do not know) was yelling, cursing, insulting and being an all out bastard to the hostess and one other young female employee. Telling one you're in my F'en way. It was rude, blatant and most awkwardly RIGHT AT THE HOSTESS STAND... WITH CUSTOMERS THERE, IN EAR SHOT... WATCHING AND LISTENING TO HIM BERRATE A TEENAGE GIRL. All of the patrons waiting in the area were looking at each other hoping it was some sort of prank show (send in Dax Shepard please) in progress but it wasn't. I really hope that he sees this or someone tells him how nasty it came off because he needs to change that behavior, it is not acceptable and if people out there are wondering why places are short staffed, this guy may be an indication as to why people do not want to work in the service industry these days! 6/25/2018 - We decided to visit West Chester for the day. We wanted to find a place with outdoor seating to enjoy the great weather. After looking at different places and menus we were not convinced, then, we found Teca. After a look at their extensive menu, we knew this was the place. We walked in to the restaurant to speak with the hostess and as we walked in to their lovely colorful restaurant we decided to sit inside. Plus, they had both the Spain game and Portugal game in all the TV's. We sat at the bar and met our nice and knowledgeable bartender Josh. He gave us a background on this family owned restaurant and also recommended their featured Spanish red wine, Isabella Bobal, D.O. Ribera del Jucar. After hearing the specials we went with his recommendation of stuffed figs wrapped in prosciutto with arugula, peppers topped with a balsamic glaze. Also, a fresh tomato, cucumbers, onions, avocado and cheese salad. The prosciutto on the figs was cooked through, crispy and crunchy which made that goey cheesy middle just melt in your mouth. It is the ultimate flavor explosion with the sweet and juicy fig, and the salty, crunchy prosciutto. YUM! The salad was super fresh and just so pretty, colorful!. Josh was telling us how they get their tomatoes from a local farm. We only had the wine and these two appetizers because we were visiting for the day and wanted to try out more places but, I would definitely come back for a meal! I was looking for a nice place to eat dinner and decided on this Italian restaurant. It had 3 1/2 stars but it was worth a shot. Al fresco dining and indoor, I chose the latter cuz it was threatening rain. I was greeted by Anthony who's been here for four years and I asked him what was decent. He recommended the linguine allo scoglio. I didn't look up the meaning but I could see it had clams, shrimp, mussels and calamari with a San Marzano tomato sauce. This sauce is a little more expensive than most sauces I've had in Italian fare. This did NOT disappoint. This dish was brilliant, yes perfecto! Anthony memorized his lines for 6specials. Nice! The ambiance is real collegiate, since West Chester U is in down the street. This area of town is very quaint and pretty. Very fun, delicious and accommodating dining experience last night for a 'girls night out' dinner. My friend and I wanted to sit outside after a quick rain storm. The tables and chairs were wet. The staff grabbed dried tables and chairs for us and promptly wiped everything down again just to be sure they were dry. After being warmly greeted by our server, we were delivered our delicious drinks and told the specials. We split a salad with calamari, the olives with prosciutto and the pasta special. Teca is one of my go-to's in west Chester - and for good reason! One of the only tapas places (and the absolute best in west Chester), Teca is always crowded on weekend evenings. However, I've always been able to grab an open table reservation for two or seats at the bar at the last minute. The restaurant itself has a lively atmosphere. Although crowded, tables are decently spaced so you're lot dining on top of your neighbor. Service and friendly, polite, and well-versed in their menu. They have a great wine list as well as a variety of beers and cocktails. The menu is pretty varied, making it a nice place to go for either tapas or larger entrees. We love getting several tapas to share. Some of our favorites include the bruschetta, the burrata, the hummus platter, and the calamari. However, they also have a variety of salads, antipasti, meats and cheeses that are great as well! The entrees consist of traditional Italian pasta or meat dishes. I was so looking forward to the Chicken Marsala, but when the dish was delivered and I dug in, I literally could hardly cut the chicken which was tough with a stringy and cardboard-like texture. The marsala sauce was tasteless and had a slimy consistency. This dish was a real bummer. The rest of our party of 4 gave an average rating to the Dover sole and Super Tuscan Burger.
