Au contraire - had the chicken Sicilian (a house favorite) and it did not disappoint! Great flavors, gluten free, and a perfect portion. If I lived nearby, Ron's would be a regular stop for sure. The menu is huge....so extensive that there's literally something for everyone. What's better is that Ron is focused on catering to all kinds of food sensitivities, allergies and dietary needs/restrictions. One of our friends (that we are visiting here in PA) follows a gluten free diet but can eat the pizza at Ron's with no issues. It's because they make the pizza with Italian double zero flour...which doesn't bother her heightened gluten sensitivity. On top of that-the pizza is REALLY, REALLY good! We shared 2 large pies (special and margherita - 16 inch) and one small (pickle -10 inch). Yes...I did say pickle. Pickle pizza. That was my choice! I wanted to try something different...and I'm glad I did! Loved all of the pizza options but the sauce on the margherita was outstanding and the pickle pizza was GREAT. My semi skeptical gluten free friend went all in with me on the pickle once she tried it. I think she was surprised that she liked it so much. The crust on the pizza is also sooooo good. Super tasty. I have had a lot of cheesesteaks in my 44 years on this earth, near Philly, in Philly, New Jersey, MD, and this is by far the best cheesesteak I have ever had! From the seeded roll to the perfectly seasoned meat, and the cooper sharp. I had it to go and I can only imagine how good it is if you dine in. One of our favorite places. We were there Saturday April 18th, it smelled like someone Vomitted and it stunk. My son didn't want to leave, as this is one of our favorite places to go. Tucked away in a mini strip mall, Ron's resembles the usual version of your local happy-tappy serving up the usual assortment of nondescript pub grub to the usual less-than-discerning indigenous clientele. Well... not quite. Check out the restaurant's website... Their soups are made from fresh stocks that are by-products of their slow roasted meats and chicken... Their meats are antibiotic and hormone free... Their burgers are fresh ground certified Angus and never frozen... Their salmon filets are fresh cut by the chef; their mussels and calamari are fresh ice-packed, not frozen... Their turkey breasts are freshly baked on the premises from fresh, hormone-free fowl; their bacon is nitrite free... Produce is delivered 5 days a week, and all salads are made with fresh-cut lettuce; and the mixed greens are hand-washed, dried, and mixed by the kitchen staff; vegetables are all cut fresh and cooked to order... In addition, the menu lists the items that are gluten free, hormone/antibiotic free, spicy, vegetarian, clean eating, and/or made from scratch. Not exactly the culinary résumé of your average local happy-tappy... But the fact that a restaurant offers its patrons healthy cuisine is only part of the equation. Even the best of organic and/or local comestibles can be poorly prepared and sloppily presented. Fortunately, however, not only is Ron's food good for you, but it is pleasing to the palate and the eye as well. Taking a gander at the rather extensive menu, it may seem as if the kitchen's reach has exceeded its grasp. One cannot help but think that it would be difficult (if not impossible) for an eatery to do so many things well. But the restaurant also offers patrons a select variety of entrées, including a number of traditional Italian favorites. My recently sampled Eggplant Parmesan, for example, was tender yet firm to the bite, smothered in melted cheese, and sided with al dente spaghetti kissed by a rich marinara. Even better, however, was my dining partner's homey Black Angus Italian Meatloaf (pictured) topped with house-made marinara sauce and companioned by a mound of luscious garlic mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked broccoli florets. And don't let dessert pass you by. There are a number of palate-pleasing options to assuage your sweet tooth... but nothing quite measures up to the over-the-top Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cheesecake. After a 500-mile rainy day on the road Ron's Bar & Grille was the perfect place for a hearty meal and an adult beverage. We're were in the mood to have a "Philly Cheese Steak" sandwich (...when in Rome...) and relax a bit after a long day and this place checked all of the boxes. We sat at the bar and had Great service as well as an equally good hockey game on one of their many sports-tuned screens. The food was excellent, and fresh in quality and flavor. Their menu seemingly has "something for everyone" with lots of variety . We shared a Cheese Steak Hoagie, onion rings (wicked good!), and a garden salad. It was all perfect in taste, as well as being generous portions. To top things off they have a tremendous beer selection that complimented the meals and the evening. The restaurant and bar have a truly nice vibe, with a clientele this evening that had a great mix of locals and travelers. Avoid the "Buffalo" wings. I know what I ordered, and their recorded answering machine said they record telephone orders so they do too, but I don't know what I got. There was no flavor, crispiness or heat this Buffalo native has come to expect in something call Buffalo wings. What I got were soggy, tasteless wing parts with some sort of seasoning. If I were to take an educated guess, they were baked, not fried. I tried to save them by making my own wing sauce with Frank's Redhot like true Buffalo wings would be swimming in, but they were not salvageble. The menu said they come with celery and blue cheese. There were 3 small pieces of old celery with no crunch, and the dip was not blue cheese. It was like some sort of ranch, good seasonings hybrid with a hint of bleu cheese flavor. Once you walk through the doors, you would never know it was located in a strip mall. I thought the entrance area was a little dark but I think that's the ambience they are going for. Service was great! The place was packed at lunch on a Monday. I had the Greek salad and added grilled chicken. It was a large salad with a nice sized piece of chicken. The vegetables were fresh. I enjoyed it. The best part was the Modena balsamic imported from Modena, Italy. I was there a couple years ago and did a tasting and brought some home. I was so excited to see this as an option. I don't think there was even an extra charge. The menu listed so many items that are homemade or imported from Italy. Very impressive. The menu is also quite extensive. I feel like I didn't do the restaurant justice by just ordering a salad. I will return if I'm back in the area. One little comment is that my server wasn't telling her tables about the specials. As a local, I grew up dining at Ron's since it was founded and have had the pleasure of watching it evolve to what it has become today. If you're a local too, passing through, or just moved to the area, Ron's is the place to eat. Everyone in the area knows that, so be prepared to wait for a table if you're coming at prime dinner or lunch hours (wait can get above 1 hour some nights). They also have a nice bar area that has live music sometimes on the weekends and a fully established take-out service which is great for when you don't feel like going out or are watching a game at home. The menu has a huge variety so everyone in your party will be able to find something they're in the mood for. Usually not everything can be great when a restaurant has a huge menu, but that is not the case here! Ron's is also great at providing GF options and has a helpful code on their menus that highlights Gluten Free, Gluten Free Available, Vegetarian, Spicy, Hormone and Antibiotic Free, and meals created From Scratch dishes. They're very accommodating and offer a lot of customization options so this is a great place for those with food allergies. One of my favorites are their cheesesteaks, which you can even get in a protein platter if you don't want to eat a whole roll and it comes with a side salad and just the meat or their cheesesteak Stromboli is amazing and a great to-go option. Some of my other favorites are their wings, ovals, crinkle cut fries, hoagies, taco salad, Cobb salad, and burgers. They make all of their salad dressings in house and they are delicious!!! Wait staff is always super attentive and friendly, even on busier nights and we've never had any major issues. Ron's has been around many years and continues to be very good. Inside is a bit darkish and dated so we've tended to pick up more pizza lately than dining in. Ordering online is a bear so far but by phone is always promptly answered, courteous, and correct orders. Our favorites are the plain pizza, pizza with sausage, and their Special pizza which seems to be missing in their online ordering form but on their web menu. I was able to get enough lasagna for 2 more meals. I loved their lavender mocktail drink. It had the perfect mix of sweet and lavender. Been here a few times and have enjoyed each time. The bar is always packed and it gets overwhelmingly loud when there's live music. There's a nice selection of beer and wine. The food is pretty good. Nothing exceptional but it's good quality Italian food for reasonable prices. The service has been hit or miss. We've either had outstanding waiters or absent waiters we had to beg to order/ checkout. The only food I have caution about is the risotto. I love risotto and have tired it a few times here. Each time it is so beyond salty that it's basically inedible. Other than that the food is all pretty good. The salad dressing is really good and the pastas all have good flavor. What a delightful find on my way home from the lab! Ron's greeted me with wonderful response times from the staff, magnificent food, and a cozy, homey atmosphere! Our server, Jenny, was extremely funny, helpful, and charismatic. She really made my day! The Stromboli and wings I had were both delightfully done, the sauces were magnificent, and the menu is amazingly diverse, with options for basically any person's palette. The seats are cozy and have plenty of space, and the prices are very affordable for how large the portion sizes are (attached photo is under half of the small size of their Stromboli, can you believe it?) However, the last two times I have been incredibly disappointed in the portion size!! The chicken salad hoagie was basically missing chicken salad. There were more onions and lettuce than anything.
