    The Borough Classic Burger
    Nancy E.

Downingtown's newest hot spot!! The Borough is in the middle of Downingtown and it's bumping!! Newly renovated and still working on the 2nd floor, it's sure to expand the success of this business. My visit was on a weekday for lunch. The bright, natural light and open spacious feel shined with bright energy. Diners are seated comfortably at booths, high top tables, window or outdoor seating or at the bar. I enjoyed the house-made seasoned potato chips, classic burger (cooked to perfection) and seasoned fries. My server, Haley was sweet, attentive and informative. Keith is a hands on owner manager. He proudly gave a me tour of the 2nd floor. Opening Thursday- I was impressed! Destination Downingtown! Parking- is a concern. There is limited street parking and 3 public parking lots with in a 10 min walk.

    Ice cream dessert- delicious!

Really cute place, cozy bar. It was packed. They had a good selection of cocktails and beer. Food was delicious too. We'll be back.

While it's a bit of a trek for us, it's the perfect halfway point to meet up with friends. My husband and I enjoyed the red wine flight and ended up sharing a bottle of the Shiraz, which was drinkable and good. The food menu is surprisingly extensive--whether you're looking for a full meal or just some tapas to pair with your wine, they've got you covered. We didn't eat this time since we weren't hungry, but everything looked and smelled fantastic. The owners are welcoming and knowledgeable, which added to the great experience. My only complaint is the corkage fee if you choose to enjoy a bottle on-site. This is only the second time I've ever encountered a corkage fee at a tasting room, and we've visited many across some of the world's most renowned wine regions. It's a bit puzzling, especially in a relaxed setting like this. None of the Pennsylvania wineries do this but this tasting room and a tasting room in West Chester do and it's really obnoxious. But the good news is the prices at this tasting room are affordable and they don't charge a credit card fee! That said, we'd definitely come back. Great wine, great atmosphere, and a lovely place to spend an afternoon.

My wife and I stopped in here on a Thursday night for their "pizza and a carafe of wine for $30"…read morespecial, which I believe is every Thursday night (for the quality of pizza and wine, a steal and a half if you ask me). The first pizza and carafe was so good that we stayed for another round! The pizzas were a decent size and had great flavor. Not overly greasy, and you could tell the ingredients were fresh. Plus the crust was perfectly charred. One pizza may be enough for 2 people, but I'd order a pizza per person to be safe. The wine was great too. They clearly are wine experts and take pride in a sophisticated wine selection. The carafe contains enough for two heavy pours. The restaurant was trendy and had a good vibe to it. There was plenty of seating and we walked in and got seated right away. There appears to be event space available for rent. The service was awesome. Everyone was nice and checked in on us multiple times throughout the meal. I'll definitely be coming back here.

Our server was great and attentive, the food was really good! We ordered the Caesar salad, calamari, chicken with crab, veal saltimbocca, pasta with shrimp and crab, pasta with meatballs (the person who ordered didn't care for the meatballs but is very particular), baked salmon, and chicken parm dinner. Only issue I would address is that some of the parties food came out at least 5 minutes before the others (about 1/2 the party) which made it awkward. Otherwise, a great experience and all want to return!

When I arrived, I drove past the restaurant because I did not know where it was located. I turned around at the municipal building and drove around to the main entrance which is behind the building and not on East Lancaster Avenue. We were there for lunch so there was plenty of parking. Given the large number of tables that they have, I can imagine that the parking lot can get crowded when the restaurant is full. The interior is large with lots of tables inside and outside. Outside there are tables on a patio overlooking the river. The building appears to be a converted mill. We ordered the Caesar Salad, Basa Francesce, Seafood Fettucine, and Chocolate Mousse Cake. The Caesar Salad was delicious. The dressing had a hint of anchovy flavor. The Basa Francesce was a light fish washed in butter with a lemon butter sauce. The fettucine was not as flavorful as I expected. The Seafood Fettucine by contrast was extremely tasty. The Chocolate Mousse Cake was rich and delightful. I expect us to be back again.

I have to give a shout-out to the wait staff. Maria was amazing! She made recommendations and was always coming back to check on us...and always with a smile. She made the experience and is one of the reasons I would recommend the restaurant. She wasn't walking through the motions - a value-add for sure. Now to the food. We just had water with our meals, but they have a full bar and what looks like a fun cocktail list. We started with the mother.Guacamole. It was FANTASTIC! It's a must have. Then I had the Braised Beef Tacos - which is 3 tacos with a side of salsa verde. You can ask for other sauces, depending on how hot you like it. My friend had the Cured Pork Belly Tacos, which she loved. Since it was my friend's birthday, we shared the Apple Pie a la mode Empanadas - which were delicious. The prices were great too! For all of that, our bill, with a 20% tip was $63.00. (I've had lunches for 2 that end up being about $50 and the food wasn't as good and we didn't have the dessert.) Highly Recommend.....I will definitely be back!

She seemed to have had far more tables than she could handle. I can't hold the service against her I don't know the reason for that. Food was good although they were out of anything with shrimp in it due to a special they had. I highly recommend the mother guacamole. Drinks were good too but the spicy margaritas were extremely spicy and I love hot food. After 2 sips I gave up on it. I recommend the mother margarita and if you like sweeter ones the Granny Smith margarita is tasty. The coconut old fashion was very light and more smoky. Their old fashion was good and the beers were ok a bit hoppy for my tastes but others like it. Overall had it not been for the 90 minute wait and the overwhelmed server I would give it 5 stars.

We made the trek up from Wilmington after seeing that the Bottle Room's tap list included a unique beer from a Knoxville brewery that we'd loved at a beer fest but had never found in our area since (Xul's PBJ Mixtape sour beer, a delicious and mind-blowing sour that somehow genuinely tastes like peanut butter, grape jelly, and white bread!). Props to Bottle Room for sourcing from both local microbreweries, but also from other delicious breweries around the country! Since our goal was beer, we hadn't put much thought into the food, so we were very nicely surprised that every bite was delicious, and we're already scheming which of our PA friends might want to meet us there in the future. We started with their tuna tostada special --- won ton chips with tuna poke, edamame, avocado, and some sort of wasabi dressing. This was challenging to eat, but absolutely worth the mess. Husband ordered their smash burger with truffle fries, which was a very solid and flavorful burger, and the truffle fries had excellent texture and flavor. I opted for their Ratatouille special, which offered the usual vegetable medley served over zucchini bread (a unique touch!) with burrata. The zucchini bread was a little bit sweet and a little soft, but the overall flavors came together nicely. We were happy to learn they offer crowlers as well, so you can take your favorite beers to go!
