11 years later and still my favorite breakfast place. It really is "all about the gravy, baby." No more puréed cauliflower for me. (see my last review). Partner still in love with the Telly. And I found my perfect order. One scrambled egg, with sides of andouille sausage gravy and cornbread. The cornbread is really good. And they have V-8 and grapefruit juice. My two favorites. Now this is how you run a business! This place is awesome from start to finish. Very clean, friendly staff, great decor, land ots of cool artwork displayed, which is also for sale. Excellent menu from traditional breakfast items to amazing sandwiches, salads and other delicious mouth watering choices. I recommend the omelettes and pancakes. In fact, everything looked good here. This place is very busy and bustling. No reservations, but the staff do a very good job of keeping things moving. Other breakfast and lunch establishments should pattern themselves after Green Street Grill. Be very friendly, hospitable, serve quality food and treat your staff well. I can't wait to come back. Had previously been to Market Street Grill and had high expectations for this spot, and it lived up to the hype! Got the build your own breakfast sandwich: everything bagel, scrambled eggs, pork roll and pepper jack cheese. Super filling, everything was hot and fresh which made for a great sandwich. I brought my granddaughters here for lunch before a movie. Surprised to see it was extremely crowded, however we were seated fairly quickly. The wait staff was very efficient and friendly. They have a fairly large menu- pretty much anything one could want. My granddaughter's got an order of French toast and an order of chicken tenders and fries. They were very satisfied with their meals- plates were clean ! I had a special a salad with teriyaki shrimp and chicken. It was very fresh and nicely presented . To be fair: i don't like diners. But my partner does. He ordered the classic eggs Benedict and asked if the poached eggs could be done 'medium' They came out so runny. The whites were still wet. He sent them back and they came out more like hard boiled eggs. We both acknowledged that asking a place THIS busy for a specialty cooked poached egg was not the right move. The service was VERY friendly. We got seated quickly! I ordered a 3 egg omelette which was huge. I couldn't finish it. It was okay. The hash browns seemed a little undercooked. I ordered avocado toast with two over easy eggs to go using the DoorDash app. I live close by so I picked up my order at the exact time it said it was ready. The wheat bread didn't look toasted, it was soggy, the avocado was just plain, no salt or flavoring. The menu didn't specify there was spinach on top of the avocado toast and I definitely didn't order spinach. That definitely contributed to the bread being soggy. The order also came with hashbrowns which I wasn't aware of either. For health reasons, I just wanted plain avocado toast with eggs and pico. It was $14 and I'm really disappointed. Usually I have a great experience with the food here but I really have no idea what was going on this morning. But I did not enjoy my breakfast. I think that for to go orders, they need to be mindful of putting things on the side and letting patrons construct the food on their own. read more

How can I really suggest there is a sizable difference between Green Street Grill and virtually any breakfast place in any plaza?!? There is a difference. First, the service from host to server to busser is great. The menu is full of traditional breakfast offerings to unique. You have options for 2 egg or 3 egg omelettes, and one piece of toast or two. Makes sense. The Kennett Square omelette is delicious. Obviously mushrooms with spinach and onions, cheese. The French Toast cinnamon swirl is fantastic with a personal heated syrup on the side. We ate at the Green Street Grille (GSG) with some regularity when we lived in the eastern part of zip 19335. In fact, whenever my sister came to visit, GSG was our first choice dining spot! Now that we have moved to western 19335, GSG is not nearly as convenient. We always thought their food was very good, tasty and with an interesting variety of offerings, at reasonable prices and in EDIBLE PORTIONS. Don't get me wrong, I am not against getting 2 or 3 meals from one purchase but some times the doggy bag is just not convenient. When it comes to food, I virtually always prefer quality and taste over quantity! Recently we found ourselves "back east'" and decided we really wanted a GSG meal. We were not likely to arrive with anymore than about 25 minutes before the morning closing. For a few milliseconds, we tossed around the idea of going somewhere else, so we could enjoy a more leisurely pace. We remembered GSG having speedy, coordinated and cooperative service. No need to alter our plans just because of a little time crunch, GSG was still the place to go. We arrived at 22 minutes before closing. We were NOT disappointed in any way. We frequent Market Street grill in West Chester and then I saw this place next to my Planet Fitness. When I discovered that they had the same owners, I knew it wouldn't disappoint. The food is SO good, great portion size, amazing specials (blueberry venison sausage omelet was amazing!) More importantly, the staff is top notch..they are SO efficient, never frazzled (busy constantly) and very accommodating. Highly Recommend!! read more

Green Street is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. My family loves breakfast at any time and whenever I ask the kids where they'd like to eat, it's always "the diner!" I'm a big fan of Benedicts and Green Street has a bunch on the menu. They also have specials which add in an extra. Some of them miss the mark, but none are ever bad, just not always to my tastes, and others are amazing. My favorite regular has to be The Pinky which uses Short Rib instead of the traditional ham, but The Izzy is a close second (who doesn't love a Benedict on a grilled cheese?). read more

We had The Bullotta, a menu staple, which is not for the faint of heart: bacon and bananas sautéed with honey poured over Texas French toast, topped with peanut butter. Liz, our server, was truly amazing. She was very friendly and checked on us throughout breakfast with a genuine smile. She even offered a fresh cup of coffee to go. We went here for lunch, I'd never been to this shopping center in general even though my barber and favorite dealership is right around the corner. Green street is like a diner but has that Midwest vibe to it, really welcoming with generous portions at reasonable prices. We got the gyro with pasta salad and the poached eggs with brisket. I am a huge fan of Market Street and of course had to go to my fav place while in Downingtown. Green Street is the sister restaurant to Market Street and was very consistent with what you'd expect at Market Street. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great staff and service. This restaurant literally never disappoints. Highly recommend the sausage gravy or a PIT omelet. Christian and Waffles is also a fan favorite. If you love dark roast coffee, they serve regular, decaf and dark roast as well. Don't hesitate to try or be scared of a line. It always moves quickly. read more

Hard to believe I never heard of GSG. Thanks to some friends for suggesting we meet here for breakfast this past Saturday (11:30am). The place is quite popular, but a huge space, so you shouldn't be waiting long in most instances. Service it top notch. They all work together and I've never seen more smiles and friendly staff in any other establishment. You can tell they train them well and hustle! I wasn't going nuts with my food choices, so I had the Kennett Omelet without cheese. 2 eggs. Perfect helping. The onions were long and I would have loved them cooked a bit longer. Not carmelized. Mushrooms were huge and fantastic. Hash browns are some of the best and not heavily seasoned or greasy. My daughter's blueberry pancake as a bit rubbery. Took up the whole plate, but I wasn't very impressed and very little blueberries (nothing like some of the pics I see here). That's basically why I can't give this a 5 star. Keep pushing Yelp to allow 1/2 stars and this would be bumped up to 4.5 based on the enormous menu and the incredible staff. Back soon! read more

Cannot lie, I've been thinking about the andouille sausage gravy for weeks since I've been here. I visited Green Street Grill while visiting a few weeks ago, and had a wonderful Saturday brunch with my brother and mom. I tried the breakfast burrito with hash browns on the side, and ordered a side of the sausage gravy to accompany it. All of it was to die for - especially the gravy. Cannot emphasize that enough. My brother tried an omelette, as did my mom, and both of them enjoyed their meals thoroughly. My brother and I also split a GIANT pancake. Truly, it was the size of a huge plate. It was also delicious! Huge portions, lots of fun dishes, and very quick and friendly service. The space itself is sunny and bright, with cool local art adorning the walls. It's just above a greasy spoon vibe, but still unpretentious and creative with food and flavor. I cannot wait to return next time I visit Downingtown! Stopped in here for breakfast one weekday and was surprised that all the booths were full and there were several stools taken at 730. They must be doing something right here. The space is very casual and a lot of the early morning patrons were guys heading out to work. I order a couple of eggs with the pheasant sausage - a special- and definitely a highlight of this meal. My dining partner got the eggs Benedict which were ok as the hollandaise may have not been prepared in house and lacked seasoning overall.
