We came over here quite early so we can't attest as to whether or not they take reservations. We were one of the first customers and with 6 people, they sat us in one of the best seating locations by the window. We could see everything inside and out. The waitstaff was cheerful and quite knowledgeable and efficient. We started our brunch by copious amounts of Mimosas and what I thought was one of the best morning appetizers I've ever had, their Cinnamon Sugar French Toast Bites. You can't have just one.... Or two.... Then the main courses.... I had the Mushroom Omelet with delicious fresh mushrooms from nearby farms, a good dose of Birchrun Farms Fat Cat Cheese, a premium - and local - semisoft cheese that would make any fromager sing with joy. My spouse had the Roots Burger, a delightful concoction of a Smash Burger with the trimmings, Dijon, Garlic Aioli on a Brioche Bun, accompanied by delicious Sweet Potato Fries. Stopped in with my daughter on a Friday and first time visit. Cute place and we sat out back on the patio which is nicely covered and has a koi pond. Excellent hostess and wait staff are very nice and friendly. She had the standard breakfast and I had the blueberry French toast. Scrambled eggs were excellent and creamy. This place was overall very good but we went there in a 11:30 on Sunday and there was a huge wait. We only had a 30 min wait but it went to over an hour before we left. We were told it would be around 40-45 minutes to get a table because some really big groups had just gotten seated. After waiting, we were quickly seated. The food was good. As a 23 year old male I find a neutral approach when trying new restaurants. I'm greeted kindly, and treated well by the staff every time I sit to eat by myself. This place is truly a hidden gem and for many reasons, the quality/portion of the meal is perfect leaving me walking out without a stomach ache. The creativity behind the meals is truly a work of art and I can tell the creator cares about his/her work. Seems like they are farm to table, and if I can notice it- you will to. The price per person is more than generous, I'm a young college student who you can tell doesn't have a wallet to go out every week. However, I do end up here almost once a week. The owner of Roots took me by surprise by taking time out of his day to see me in person and thank me for loving his/her restaurant. I have never left a review in my life, and I know this was long. The food is also top notch. today i had their country fried chicken and it was so good. the chicken was fried well and the sausage gravy is so flavorful and coats the chicken so well. The potatoes are also the best i've ever had being perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and with the just right amount of salt. The only downside was that biscuit was cold in the middle but still tasted very good with the gravy and chicken. My girlfriend got the french toast bites and it may be the best french toast i've ever had. Very clean and the lighting was warm on a rainy day. I think the upstairs has a place for local sales, I didn't go up there but I saw a sign for it. The pretzel croissants were SO delicious!! The front desk and my waitress were nice, but the 2 waitresses that brought out my food confused me with my cousin that sat next to me. This is normally an insignificant thing, but I've realized that primarily white places often don't pay attention to minorities and mix them up. My cousin is like 10 years younger than me... This never, ever happens to me in Philly or NYC, but it happens all the time in white spaces. And honestly I'm sick of it.
