Mimosa Flight, Pork Belly Benedict, Apple Strudel French Toast, Avocado Croissant Toast & Ham & Cheese Croissant Benedict

This place is beautiful and the food is even better. Very nicely decorated inside and peaceful outdoor area. Service is great as well. We went for brunch and ordered a whole bunch of everything. There's nothing I wouldn't try! Not only do the plates look amazing, but they taste even better. My personal favorite were the french toast bites & ham & cheese croissant Benedict. If you haven't tried this place already, you have to!

Nice place. A bit expensive but nice eclectic options. Must have changed owners from 7-8 years ago or the owner changed their perception or got help. They had a promo coupon and I was able to use it today. Their hours don't work out well for me normally. Because of the price, I'd probably do 4 stars but they let me use a coupon for a drink and no complaints! Great, friendly staff and emotionally warm ambiance.

Busy cafe with walk-in onlys, but staff moves fast to seat people waiting, without pushing seated clients out. Staff was super nice and friendly! Inside could be a little loud if you're looking to have intimate conversations with other guests. Lovely brunch menu with a variety of options but not too many (which is great for us indecisive people). Cold brew was lovely. Food-wise, everything tasted great! The french toast bites was a great option to share and the frittata was nice and filling, great flavors! If you want a little more spice, ask for a side of hot sauce!

Spicy Cucumbers and Pumpkin-Spiced French Toast Bitespumpkin

Roots cafe is a cute small restaurant with great food. We ordered the cucumber and Pumpkin French Toast for appetizers. I have to say though that the French toast stole the show. For brunch we all shared the Autumn Scramble, Bacon & Arugula Breakfast Sandwich, ROOTS Hot Chicken, and the burger. The roots hot chicken stole the show in my opinion. Overall the service was great. The only challenge is that it's small and you may not always get seated quickly. Great place to check out !

Tight interior. Tables are pretty close together. Food is ok. The french toast appetizers were good, but coated with a bit too much sugar The fried potato pieces were good The fried chicken was average

Blueberry French Toast

Stopped in with my daughter on a Friday and first time visit. Cute place and we sat out back on the patio which is nicely covered and has a koi pond. Excellent hostess and wait staff are very nice and friendly. She had the standard breakfast and I had the blueberry French toast. Scrambled eggs were excellent and creamy. The blueberry French toast was outstanding. Will definitely be back to try more on the menu!

Pork Belly Benedict

Had a great experience dining with my family here! We really enjoyed our French toast bites and all the Christmas decorations. Our server Bryann was really nice and friendly. 10/10 recommend the brunch menu especially the Pork Belly Benedict.

This place was overall very good but we went there in a 11:30 on Sunday and there was a huge wait. We only had a 30 min wait but it went to over an hour before we left. Not sure if they were understaffed or the kitchen was overwhelmed. No real sense of urgency really. That being said our service was good once seated and so was the food! Small but cute interior- you just can't be in a rush. The cucumbers were amazing and the chicken sandwich the sweet potato fries were great! We will be back during a less busy time

Smash burger, Buffalo chicken sandwich

What a charming spot in West Chester! Great, unobtrussive service, delicious mocktails (lavender lemonade and blueberry spritz) and scrumptious sandwiches (smash burger and Buffalo chicken)!! We will be back!

This was amazing!

As a 23 year old male I find a neutral approach when trying new restaurants. I'm greeted kindly, and treated well by the staff every time I sit to eat by myself. This place is truly a hidden gem and for many reasons, the quality/portion of the meal is perfect leaving me walking out without a stomach ache. The creativity behind the meals is truly a work of art and I can tell the creator cares about his/her work. Seems like they are farm to table, and if I can notice it- you will to. The price per person is more than generous, I'm a young college student who you can tell doesn't have a wallet to go out every week. However, I do end up here almost once a week. The owner of Roots took me by surprise by taking time out of his day to see me in person and thank me for loving his/her restaurant. I have never left a review in my life, and I know this was long. But Root's cafe blew me away, and I hope everyone can experience a meal from this beautiful cafe.

Croissant Breakfast Sandwich

Super delicious breakfast! We were looking for a quiet and comfortable place for brunch and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the breakfast. I got the croissant sandwich and it came out super quickly with friendly staff willing to accommodate the menu. The arugula sandwich is a must try! Thank you guys for the yummy meal.

One of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Small inside, likely to be a wait but well worth it.

Brunch was amazing! Portions were huge and the price isn't bad! We got there right at 10 and there were plenty of seats inside and outside.

The restaurant is beautiful and still very comfortable. And the service was outstanding. They brought me a little stool for my purse, which is such a nice touch. And they were so helpful and friendly as they stopped by our table to explain each course on the night's menu. I also really enjoyed my wine, and my husband his cocktail. While the experience was lovely, I was underwhelmed by the meal unfortunately. They brought us a little starter (off menu) - a fritter with duck confit, which had good flavor but an odd texture. The first course was turnips and squid, which was okay (I didn't get the squid on the dish - it didn't have much flavor or do much for the dish). The second course was Pizzoccheri - a pasta dish made of hearty, dark buckwheat pasta with boiled potatoes, Savoy cabbage, melted cheese, and butter. It was delicious and rich and great for winter (it snowed later that night - the first of the season). I was glad they served a single portion for two people - because it is rich. But I'd eat it again for sure, my favorite dish of the night by far. The third course was a strip loin with salsify and leek cream. This dish was pretty good, too. I loved the salsify - I'd never had it before. And the jus was delicious. I didn't love the cook on the strip loin - it was medium rare on one end and over medium on the other. The dessert was a profiterole with candied quince and cherry. It was too sweet for me, and I didn't taste much of the quince or cherry. The dish I'd want to eat again is the Pizzoccheri, for sure. It was a lovely meal - the restaurant has a great ambiance and the service was wonderful. I didn't love the food on this first visit, but their menu is creative and it's very possible that on another night it would blow me away. I do love a set menu/tasting menu at this price point and with only four courses - a great value, and a great portion of food (not too much like some tasting menus). It's beautiful spot in West Chester; I'd be happy to try it again if I'm in West Chester for dinner again.

Arrived…read moreon time but got seated about 25 mins after our resy which was a little bit of a bummer cause there was no bar or lounge area to wait in. We did, however, get a pretty great seat in the window with a view of some nice decor, lights, and general street life. The only downside about this table was that it felt like we were dining in Antarctica. The windows and floor trim were old so it was very drafty. The restaurant is aware of this, as they provided us copious amounts of blankets, which we did take them up on. Then we were snug as bugs in rugs. Well, as snug as bugs in Antarctica could be. For drinks, we got the Arneis, Chenin Blanc, and a Quince Spritz. The Arneis was so light and pleasant, a crowd-pleaser for sure. The Quince spritz was a very nice cocktail with a bright honey taste. Now, for the food. The favorite of the night was the duck confit. The duck was delicious and very rich, but pairing it with the apple and sauerkraut really helped to temper that so it didn't feel so heavy. My partner and I have differing opinions on our least favorite (beet tartar & buckwheat cake). Overall, a very solid meal, with some real stars, but we're not itching to go back. Perhaps we'll give it another shot in the Summer when Pennsylvania produce really shines and they have more options for sourcing (and so we don't have to dine under multiple blankets).

Once we got up, they do not seat you. Seating and tables are first come first serve, including the bar. The upstairs bar where they do the sleigh bar is a lot smaller than it appears to be online, and you will do a lot of standing so be prepared. Plus, it can be pretty loud. Now onto the drinks: they're pretty good. The Sleepless in Suburbia is probably one of the best espresso martinis I have ever had. I also enjoyed the sleigh ride cocktail too. As far as their snacks go, they're alright. I understand not having a full food menu since the bar is pretty small, but $5 for a plate of popcorn is pretty crazy, not to mention that the popcorn itself was overly salty. The Cajun fries were pretty good though. The sleigh bar is starting to become a West Chester Christmas staple, and I cannot wait to come back next year!

We definitely over-ordered but told plenty home for leftovers. For appetizers we ordered the pork belly bao buns and the Thai salad with shrimp. These are more entree size so be forewarned. The bao buns came in a taco server and had three buns filled with plenty of pork and a spicy aioli. The Thai salad came with 5 nicely charred shrimp and a Napa salad. This ate a little dry-I would have appreciated a bit more dressing- but I can see where more dressing might have made this a bit soggy. We would definitely order these again For entrees, we tried the burger and the chicken pot pie. The burger was a double patty with cheese, pickled onion, and a mayo based sauce on a sesame bun. I have to say I was happy to see that they opted out of the usual sad lettuce and anemic tomato that is typical of early spring. I think it was lacking some salt as it was missing something but overall was ok and served with crispy shoestring fries. The pot pie was topped with some puffed pastry and had a nice velvety sauce with hints of tarragon. Very nice. My dining partner finished my burger and took most of the pot pie and the side salad that came with it home. Even though my dining partner couldn't finish his regular entree, he wanted dessert. After looking at the choices the server suggested the seasonal dessert which was beignets with whipped cream, chocolate and strawberries. I was reticent but was happy with the choice because the chocolate dipping sauce (of which there was plenty ) was DELICIOUS! The beignets were fried puff pastry or croissant dough that one dipped in the warm chocolate fudge-y ganache and/or whipped cream. I ordered coffee which paired well with the dessert and it was delightfully fresh. Service was good, friendly and attentive. Decor is industrial farmhouse.
