Dined here on 9/21 for my mother's birthday. 3 of us had a salad with "grilled chicken" which was not actually fresh. It was obviously frozen chicken pieces that had been thawed. This was very disappointing as the rest of the salad was very good. read more

I'll start by admitting I have a soft spot in my heart for PA "Tappy's". The tavern culture is a staple in SE PA. You can usually count on good to above average food, a reasonable selection of beers and liquor, decent prices, and a very local crowd. Beaver Creek Tavern fits that bill. Stopped in or lunch on a Saturday. Fish and Chips, burger, and Ham 'n Cheese. graced our table. Generous portions, hot and quick. no need for apps - it would have been too much. I had a challenge before me : Find a comfortable, mid-range, great food place for NYE late dinner after an early hockey game...in between Reading PA and Exton. Impossible, I sighed. That was, until I consulted my dear Yelp community, who pointed me to Beaver Creek Tavern. Yelpers FTW people. This place was perfect. We called ahead and made a reservation because NYE is popular. We did our best to gauge the approximate arrival time given that games can go long. As it turned out, the game ended about a half hour earlier than anticipated, so we headed to Beaver Creek, figuring we could probably just have drinks at the bar while waiting for our table. This is an old inn, and They have a parking lot which was decently lit. My only feedback there would be to perhaps invest in some of those parking stops/blocks for the spots along the drop-off, I was a bit nervous Lion would pull in too far and we'd take a header over the embankment. He thought I was amusing. I still think blocks would be nice. The grounds are meticulously maintained, with the pavers being in perfect condition, no dips or gaps or growing things. There are two outdoor dining areas, one on their covered porch and one in a rear area. Both were clean and well put away, given that it was December and cold, no need for outdoor space. The interior as a whole was clean and kept in style with the old inn/building that it is, with modern amenities. I like that, it feels true to the historical nature of the place. There are two distinct rooms - the bar with tables, TV, signs, and tile flooring, and then the adjacent dining room, connected by a doorway. It's carpeted (this is important), with curtains, art, chair rails, etc. It's, classier, without being overdone. We arrive a full half hour before our reservation, and once we found the host (that's a little tricky, there are two entrances and no clear host stand) we were told sure, no problem, here's a two seater - and then we spot OUR TABLE with a little 'reserved for ....." sign with our name on it, just waiting for us. LOVE IT. We would not have had to wait for our table at our appointed time because they had cleared it at least a half hour before. This is old-style, usually restaurants just try to time front-of-house-dining and bet that your table will be ready roughly when you had reserved it. What we noticed was that in this very full, cozier dining room, with a few 6-8 groups, with everyone talking and laughing and enjoying, it was quite pleasant. Lion and I were able to converse ourselves in perfectly normal tones, not straining to hear ourselves or the waiter. Further, we barely heard the full and joyously noisy bar in the next room. That, my friends, is excellent acoustic management, and that thick carpet is a big player. We both could not resist the bison burger, and we both loved it. Juicy, good flavor, nicely done. Fries were great, as was our homemade soft pretzel appetizer. Dessert was lovely, a warm brownie with ice cream and a good amount of whipped cream decorations. Service was spot on, even for a very busy night everything was managed well, prepared well and served with a flair. The best part is that it's not terribly far from Lion's place in Exton so you bet your sweet bison burgers we will be back. If they execute that well on a super busy night, you can expect they'll be just as good on any day. read more

Get the pierogie & the wings. Don't try to get a decent drink. Stick to beer & rum/coke type things. Apparently, I was asking for too much ordering a whiskey sour. The sour mix was absolutely disgusting, must be the cheapest thing you could possibly find. It tasted horrific. Great service! read more

Have been here 3 times now. Each time the service is fast and friendly and the food is overall great! Nice local feel. Highly recommend! On Mondays they have wing night, wings are $1 each with a minimum of 6 a not sure if they have other daily promotions. I've tried the jerk wings, the fish and chips, Philly flatbread, mushroom flatbread (amazing), and the mozzarella sticks. The fish and chips was the only thing I would give a 3 stars on. The fish is beer battered and was cooked perfectly...comes with a ton of fries, but the coleslaw had too much mayo for me and lacked in flavor. The tarter sauce also lacked flavor. The wings are a good size and not very fatty. But, if you've had real Jamaican jerk these don't come close. But had a nice flavor and we're very juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I got ranch with them but it didn't taste like anything so I'd skip that too. I'll definitely be back! read more

We're local and come here a bunch of times each year. The food is always pretty good. They have the best traditional onion soup (consistently great). The servers are always friendly. The reason for the somewhat low rating is because I have a pet peeve that is almost always triggered when we go there. Appetizers should come out first, then after a period of time, entrees should follow. Our last few visits, everything comes at once. It's pretty aggravating. While I'm enjoying my soup, my entree is sitting there getting cold. Their food is also starting to trend in the wrong direction. I write this with trepidation as I don't want to disparage a local business. All is not lost, but some attention is needed. read more

My family and I went here for lunch after seeing how highly reviewed it was on google, and we were left extremely confused. Did we eat at the same restaurant? I don't mean to be rude, but it had to be one of the most disappointing meals I've had in recent history. The French onion soup was swimming with oregano to the point where that was the only flavor present. The cheese served on the side of the Bavarian pretzel and cheesesteak egg rolls was straight out of a can. I will say the fish and chips were fine, and everything else was mediocre but not overtly offensive. Our waitress was a sweetheart, and from the reviews we read it seems like the locals really like the staff, so at least they're doing one thing right. Also, it's worth mentioning that we were told they were short on kitchen staff that day, but overall we would not go back. God bless, and please stop putting oregano in your French onion soup, it's not Italian. read more

Beaver Creek has always been hit or miss for us. We took our family there when all were living at home, and had some great dinners in the dining area. We've also not been served (and left), food ordered has not been included in take out orders, and the bar area is typically crammed. Unfortunately tonight was the biggest and last miss. Not only was the food tasteless, the amount we paid for what we got was disappointing (do understand that we will pay more these days). As pictured the take-out caesar salad was tiny pieces of romaine..some brown on the edges, with a few croutons. The soup had few onions, and for $6.99, filled half of a soup bowl. Thanks to Yelp we found this gem in rural PA. We happened to be in the area and it was lunch time. Picture an old stone building in a hilly treed area. In the summer you can dine al fresco on a porch overlooking some nice scenery or dine out back on their patio. We had no choice but to dine inside, which was pretty cool too. We sat at the bar and were greeted by a very friendly bartender who doubled as the waitress at all the tables in the bar area. She was quite busy but we never felt neglected. They had several nice crafts on tap and partook of one. I ordered a chicken tortellini soup that was excellent and a turkey tavern wrap. It came with waffle fries but I opted for the slaw. Food was fresh and tasty. Bathroom clean. Friendly crowd, great service, good food, nice ambiance. Can't go wrong here. read more

Stopped at this great little tavern full of locals on a recent trip out to PA. Yelp comes in mighty handy when you're in an unfamiliar area! The atmosphere was definitely that of an old tavern with lots of wood décor. There was a great outdoor sitting area but alas it was not a day for outdoors so we sat a the bar. The barkeep was super friendly but service was a little slow because she was doing it all, bartending as well as waiting the tables. They had a couple of good craft beers on tap so hubs & I both got a beer, relaxed & chatted with some of the other patrons at the bar, who I might add were very friendly. I decided on the chicken sandwich w melted provolone & red peppers with a side of sweet potato fries. When the food came out, it was hot & quite good. We were in town for a lacrosse tournament and came by here to try some local eats. Did not disappoint. While the restaurant bar ambience is ok, it's not bad or a dump just nothing that would set it apart. That being said the staff working was very welcoming and attentive. Now on to the good stuff. I had the Philly cheese steak and was one of the best sandwiches I've have ever eaten. Highly recommend it! My son had the brisket and it was out of this world. Give this place a go. read more

My family and I wanted to try some place new (to us) and not a chain. I looked to Yelp for help! There were a lot of great reviews so we decided to try it out. First impression was that the parking lot and grounds are well maintained. The man smoking the cigar right next to the path for the entrance did not enhance the ambiance and we quickly moved to get past the smell. We walked into the bar and were promptly seated in the dining room. The menu was good, normal bar food, with a kids menu! Great since we have 3 kiddos! We started with the pretzel bites and we all enjoyed them. The kids each ordered a drink (all different soft drinks) and a meal, of course all different, since they're kids! I ordered a beer, but they didn't have the kind I wanted. They recommended something else so I tried that - yuck, tasted like it had olive juice in it. I was never asked if I was happy with it, and didn't see the server again, myself, until the meal, and my beer, was almost finished - so I drank it with food so it just went down fast. The kids each got their drinks and meals, with everything done the way they wanted. Mine wasn't really - I got a simple cheeseburger with tater tots but it came with sweet potato waffle fries - um, okay, I like them too so I ate them. I forgot to specify the type of roll I wanted and the one I got, can't say what kind it was, I didn't like. It was a little stale, which could've been better if it had been toasted but wasn't, was just split in half and the burger put on. I only ate the bottom half. I couldn't mention it to the server because we didn't see our server again for a while (I had been in the restroom when the food came). My husband got the fish and chips meal and, while huge, the fish was greasy. Disappointing to say the least. The fries were good and my burger was decent but the devil is in the details!! Two of the kids wanted refills of their drinks so when we finally saw the server, asked if they could have refills. She took their cups and gave them back, but filled them both with the same drink. It was another disappointment- especially for the kids but we couldn't mention anything yet again, because there was no one to talk to. We even tried to get the attention of another server, but no luck. We got the check and it included charging us for the drinks for the kids, which were supposed to be included with the kids meals but honestly, for $6, I didn't want to take the time to have the charge removed so just paid it. It could've been great, it was one of our first times out since the quarantine, and it's so close to home. The overall experience made the decision for us. We won't be returning and will search out another restaurant. read more

The food here is great. As an African-American, I don't feel comfortable going into this establishment so I order from Door Dash, and again, the food has always been outstanding. There are 2 reasons why I won't go into this location physically: 1) I once saw a 20 member biker gang hold up the road to visit this place. 2) Today, I saw 2 Betsy Ross flags exchanged for the traditional American flag that's normally there, I'm guessing as a show of support to the latest controversy surrounding the racial uses of this flag, and Nike's response to using it on a canceled product. I will continue to order from this place using Door Dash, the food is really good despite the image of the culture I've seen when passing by this restaurant. read more

A surprising find. While out with the family at my granddaughters soccer game, we came across Beaver Creek Tavern. The food was very good and satisfied the appetite of all six and a 1/2 of us. This was our first time dining here as a while family. It is divided into two spaces, one side being a bar while the area is for dining. The dining area was better for our family. We ordered our meals with the girls splitting a kids spaghetti and meatballs. My husband and I ordered burgers after much deliberation. I ordered the bison burger and my hubby the bacon cheddar burger. We both ordered ours medium. When we received our burgers, they were over done. The fries were tepid and not even hot and without salt. I ordered mine with old bay but it was omitted. Our waitress asked if we needed anything and barely waited long enough to hear either one of our requests for condiments, napkins, and such. 5-10 minutes went by and still no condiments. Another waitress saw our need and asked us what we needed. She promptly did so. She was working so hard compared to our waitress. Needless to say, the burgers were a disappointment. Maybe another dish would have been better or not, but we decided that we were not going back again. Our waitress never returned to check on us or fill or drinks. We spoke to the manager and he took the time to hear our disappointment. read more

I've eaten here several times and the experience has always been good. Not great but good. Service can be spotty and the place always feels like it's understaffed. Food quality is decent, bar food with a few decent main dishes. Person I was with spoke highly of the wings he ordered the last time I came. This is a local hang out for sure and I'm pretty local so that's why I end up here at least once every few months.
