    Buffalo Cauliflower
    Lilly G.

Decided to stop in for lunch on a week day and it wasn't crowded at all. We were able to seat ourselves. We ordered the Brisket Nachos which were huge AND delicious. Chunks of yummy brisket, the chips were perfectly crunchy. The nachos were served on a large plate so every chip was able to be covered by the toppings. We also ordered the buffalo cauliflower which was delicious as well - perfectly crispy. We ordered a burger to go for later and it was quite literally the best burger Ive ever had from a restaurant. Definitely would return again for lunch.

    Short rib spring roll

I come here when in town and the food is consistently good and the service is friendly and the kitchen accommodating. We usually order some appetizers to share followed by entrees. The appetizers were a couple of flatbreads, cheese platter, short rib spring rolls and pirogues. Flatbreads were rich and the flatbread totally crispy with sufficient toppings to make the flatbread solid...the margarita and mushrooms with truffle were delicious. The pirogues were a little heavy with the topping and more salty than needed - not a great item. The spring rolls were tasty and cooked the right way, and were more fluffy than I expected. The cheese platter was generous and was made up of three local cheeses and appropriate savory and sweet accompaniments. The small melba toast was exceptional and the whole dish was a big hit. Must try either at the beginning or end of the meal. Entrees were varied and everyone was very pleased. I ordered the salmon and gulf shrimp but asked for it to go on a different bed rather than the risotto. It was very tasty. The fish was cooked a little over what I would have liked but had a very nice crust which gave it a nice texture and taste. Shrimp were firm and rather general, nothing overly special. Bed was made up of brussels sprouts, which were cooked perfectly with a nice crunch and light dressing. Overall a very nice dish. Cioppino was the other favorite and it was really generous and the sauce was well made with a large dipping roll grilled with a cheese and garlic topping. The ravioli was also a hit and the salads were popular too. All were enjoyed and each was very generous in size. The wine list is not extensive but has some nice affordable choices. We tried the tempranillo which was very cost effective and tasty and accompanied the meal very nicely. A great spot when in town.

    Black bean soup

Pretty interesting location as this is hidden in the back of a corporate industrial park. It's a really cute place. Up front is a bar that has a happy hour that was crazy crowded! I opted for quiet and went to the dining room and enjoyed the black bean soup and a 14oz strip steak with asparagus and Brussel sprouts. It was seasoned well and cooked exactly to my specifications. A really cute place overall that can work for a romantic first date and an after work happy hour.

Food was not remarkably bad, nor good. Portions, the same. Nothing outstandingly creative on the menu, very crowd-pleasing bougie-bar-pub type food, and that seems to suit the crowd here very well. Reuben was underwhelming, as was the "brownie" (more of a ramekin cake), but the handmade potato chips and hand-cut fries were very good. Ambiance, also crowd-pleasing bougie-bar-pub. Deck looked like it would be fun in season (visited in Dec). Server was a little slow. Lacked water a few times. Arrived for lunch at 1:30pm, and dining room was empty before we left. Guess our server was cleaning up in back. Tipped well, since I've been in his place, but having been there, I also know he could have done better.

Nachos and Sicilian Lemon Parmesan Wings.

Thought we'd give this place a try. Service was good. Had the Grapefruit Cosmo and it was excellent. Ended up only sharing three starters as portions were large. Nachos were great, all the basics you want and great portion. Sicilian lemon parmesan wings nicely done and tasty. The pulled pork sliders were nice and moist with a good portion of pork on each. Need to try the main courses now. Patio was a nice comfortable place, filled up quickly. Lots of parking.

    Scottish salmon - delicious

Best meal I have had in a long time! We arrived early on a Friday evening and sat in the enclosed deck. The restaurant is nicely decorated and open. Our waiter, Justin, was helpful and funny! My husband ordered the Maryland crab cakes ($24), and I ordered the Scottish salmon ($24). Husband had salad and asparagus with his crab cakes. He said that his meal was very good. He ate all of it. My salmon had shrimp, artichoke hearts, and rice with it. It had good flavor and was the perfect amount of food. For dessert we had the chocolate brownie ($7.50). They were out of peanut butter ice cream, but it was still wonderful. The caramelized bananas on top were the perfect addition. We will eat here again!

Food took 30 minutes to come and was not good. The brisket was dry and the bread was soggy. The salmon was overcooked.

Overall, The Jockey is solidly average when it comes to food, service, and ambiance. Nothing outstanding, but nothing terrible either. Where The Jockey truly shines, though, is its Happy Hour value, which is easily the best in the area. Drinks are a great deal compared to nearby spots: half off all beers on tap, plus discounted house wine and cocktails. The Happy Hour appetizer selection is larger than most, and the quality is surprisingly good. Buck-a-shuck oysters! Only one variety, but for a dollar, you can't complain. Bonus points for offering Happy Hour on weekends, which is rare. If you're in the area during Happy Hour, it's absolutely worth stopping in.

True to my nature as a "prior proper planner," I already had an appointment scheduled in West Chester, so I headed down to get the repairs underway. While I waited, I decided to find some local eats. A quick Google search led me to The Jockey just outside of Philadelphia. The reviews mentioned it was a family-owned joint, and the decor looked incredibly inviting. The aesthetic actually reminded me of The Polo Bar in NYC; it has that same sophisticated, equestrian charm. Personally, I love horses--I know all the horses in the world, and they know me--and I know the horses. so I was eager to check it out. My mother picked me up from the dealership, and we "galloped" our way down to the restaurant. The Food I was surprised to find the place packed at 12:30 PM on a Tuesday, but I assumed we had just hit the peak lunch rush. We started with the calamari, my mother ordered a sandwich, and I opted for the salmon with drunken noodles. Honestly, I think the chef in the back was more "drunk" than the noodles. * The Salmon: It arrived super crisp and borderline burnt. * The Calamari: Overcooked, greasy, and wet--it felt like it hadn't seen a strainer or a paper towel since leaving the fryer. * The Sauce: The marinara was watery, almost as if the back-of-house was running low and decided to stretch it with water. The Verdict The only saving grace was the aesthetic. The decor is lovely, and they have a very inviting event space in the basement. However, you can't eat the wallpaper. * Food: 2/5 (A hard pass on the kitchen's execution.) * Service: 3/5 (The staff never checked on us while we were eating.) * Location/Convenience: 4/5 (Close to everything in a great area.) I likely won't be visiting this place again. I'm genuinely surprised this is a local favorite in such an upscale area--perhaps the locals just haven't ventured out enough to know what they're missing.
