Wood Grilled Octopus
Matt L.

Very good Italian in Malvern. Try the wood fired octopus. It's really good. My wife had the attic char and I had the pasta with shrimp.

Grilled octopus with chickpeas minus a few bites

Very positive experience. Food was great. Waiter was congenial and helpful. Price point is high but worth it. Octopus appetizer, Duck entree and chocolate bread pudding dessert. All fabulous. The one negative was we were there for happy hour and they did not seem prepared for that.

I have dined at Alba many times. Last night was the third visit in a month. I love it, and have also after some of these dinners left (5 star reviews) here. Sadly, last night was a disappointment. We had made plans to dine with another couple. One of the two does not hear well. The main dining room can get loud. After my husband and I had dinner there last Friday, I approached the hostess and asked that we be seated the following week (last night) in the quieter middle room. She looked at our reservation and said that we were already booked into that room but she would make a note of it to be sure. Upon arrival last night, a young woman started to lead us into the front room and I complained. The manager came up and said he had people who had booked it "weeks ago". How is that the case, if the hostess last week said we were already booked in that room (from a reservation that I had made "weeks ago"). I found this treatment to be quite disappointing. They clearly ignored my request, possibly for people who dine there even more frequently than us. Not sure but it left a bad impression.

I have not been to Restaurant Alba in a while but will be coming much more often! This is a hidden gem with amazing food and great service right in the heart of Malvern! What a wonderful atmosphere and community in down town Malvern!!

Sunchoke special

Alba brings fine dining to the suburbs. The quality of food offered on a menu that changes fairly frequently based on local ingredients availability stands out compared to anything else nearby. The restaurant itself has a fancier dining room area (where we had dinner) & a more lively bar room (where we grabbed pre-dinner drinks). Service is fast & the servers are knowledgeable about both food & wine pairings (helpful with such a large wine menu!). For appetizers, we split the anchovy bruschetta (salty & delicious!), sunchoke special (definitely get bread to dip in this sauce), & eggplant (fried without being oily). For my entree, I got the squab & foie gras ravioli. The brodo was light but flavorful, and it was definitely needed because the ravioli themselves were a touch dry (but packed with flavor). The lightness of the dish was perfect after all the apps we shared, and I left full without feeling stuffed. Alba always delivers! Food: A- Drinks: B+ Service: A- Ambiance: B+

Date night favorite. Ingredient focused dining with all the accoutrements. Bartender Bryce always has the best food/drink recommendations.

It was 15.50- and the restaurant added a 75 cent fee to bake it as a grinder which I thought was ridiculous. ****UPDATE-owner specified that is for cold sandwiches-i did not pay the check and the charge was not applied****Given the price of the sandwich I was disappointed in the size too. There were only two meatballs on the sandwich cut up. ****UPDATE**** owner thanked me for the picture and noticed the cook shorted me a whole meatball. He will address with the kitchen staff. Maybe I'm spoiled but where I live now you would've received a large sand which with at least 4-5 whole meatballs for several dollars cheaper. The value is not there for sandwiches in my opinion. I didn't have an issue with the flavor, rather the value. I got a side of pasta eith vodka sauce that I enjoyed a lot. The service started out very slow and we were wondering if we had been forgotten. Once our server approached we were well taken care of. Anthony's decided that they will no longer do reservations.

They're both just miserable. He'll at least thank me for my business, but she-- good lord it's like she's doing me a favor and absolutely annoyed at my buying food from them. I've shared that with friends who go there and we all have the same stiff interactions. They have good italian food - have tried several things and their pizzas - good, fresh crust and I think they have one of the better sauces around. But money is tighter than ever and it would be nice to be treated as a valued customer, not an interruption or annoyance. I think the clincher for me this time was the italian hoagie I ordered. It was bizarre from packaging (non-recyclable styrofoam container over paper wrap) to a hoagie made by someone that clearly knows nothing about hoagies - Wawa does a better job. I asked for oil and vinegar - and they didn't put it on the roll which is traditional. So when I picked it up all this oil came spilling out of the sandwich because they put it on the meat and cheese. And I tasted no vinegar. The tomatoes weren't sliced, as is tradition, but diced. That's just a sin in hoagie etiquette. Same with the onion. I took the whole thing apart when I got home, got out my own vinegar and olive oil out, and made it the right way. The roll was good.
