After a long day we got here at 9:30pm when they close at 10pm. Got welcomed with a smile and Janet was amazing! She was so patient with us while we figured out our order, and food was delicious!!! It was a great feeling, great live music and awesome food! Thank you for my special bowl of soup and a great night!

Rubbery chicken. Powdered mash potatoes. Funky tasting mushrooms. Sent it back.

Not a great place. Tonight they had a live musician who was louder than words can describe. The food was awful. Microwaved soup. Over cooked chicken. Powdered mash potatoes. I sent it back. To give them some credit, they did remove my meal from the bill and the waitress was very polite. Free WiFi here. Hackers dream. All the POS terminals and the credit card machines as well as the TV's are on the same network.

This has to be the best Prime Rib available in the area period...and I have eaten at Ocean Prime and they can't touch it. It came to me sizzling on a sizzle pan and it was perfect just like i ordered it. The wait staff are very attentive to you and Kudos to Dina and Lisa the 2 waitresses that took care of our area and it was phenomenal...we also told them to inform the owner of the same. Great time good atmosphere and people and covid safe....whT more could you ask for.

Baxters really is a three-star place as another reviewer already mention but deserves for stars because frankly the food was great and the service/bartender was outstanding. All Baxters really needed was a fun crowd. This bar has the makings of a great upper scale dive bar. It clearly has a following of the "older set. We were absolutely delighted to find out our friend Jeff Dominik was the guitar player so we had to come out and have a good bar food and great tunes. I am adding Baxters back to the rotation for sure. Can't wait to try their lollipop lamb chops on the appetizer menu. I enjoyed the Philadelphia platter consisting of chicken salad and fried oysters. Let's keep this place alive... With some business

This place has been a family favorite for almost 30 years. My grandfather was a regular here so I felt like we needed to pay tribute when we visited PA. The food is good and the staff are all so friendly. The place could use some upgrades but that's also part of it's charm

Have not been here in a while as we moved a large distance away. Still one of my favorites. Wish they were closer.

Apparently, it's hickory smoked which made it unique from other prime ribs I've had. I also ordered a Cool River Salad which can be added to your entree. My husband got the Jim Beam Rib-Eye which was presented on a steak board with the accompanying salt on fire. Very unique! We also ordered a side of fingerling potatoes which were well seasoned. As there were only three people working in the restaurant, one was tending the bar, one was taking orders, and one was wheeling the food out on a cart, and it was busy with sports families, which seem to be the main clientele, it took some time for the lone server to take our order, but he checked in on us and apologized for the delays.

One seated we didn't have menus. Then took another 12 mins to have a waiter take drink orders. We ordered food at that time not taking any chances. Another 15 mins another waiter comes and asks if we ordered drinks. We said we did and he asked what we ordered. He brought the drinks out. We ordered Crispy Calamari as an appetizer. It was room temp and chewy. We ate about half before we couldn't take it anymore. We each ordered the COOL RIVER SALAD which said it was; Danish bleu cheese crumbles, Granny Smith apple, candied pecans, maple vinaigrette. Problem was each had big bowl of mixed greens. A pinch of blue cheese. I couldn't find mine. 4-5 pieces of candied pecans and what looked like shredded apple sticks which was wasn't even from a single Apple slice. I thought it was a garnish. It was pathetic. When we flagged down a waiter we asked for some more blue cheese and apples. Waiter didn't even acknowledge our request and returned with a single side cup half filled with blue cheese. Non apples. I was pissed but I got the look from the wife to let it go. She ordered a loaded baked potato which came out dry which had a dab of sour cream an essence of butter, a pinch of cheese, bacon and 3 scallions on it. She asked for more Sour Cream and butter and they brought out another dab of sour cream and side order of melted butter. Not one inquiry as to how the food was. But they were quick to bring check. Other families were coming in and not getting seated either. Saw a few leave which was probably best. We should have also. Not worth the time or the effort.

We stopped in here looking for a drink and hopefully some bar food. Wow! We got so much more!! The food was absolutely outstanding. We shared the Crispy Brussel Sprouts ($12 - Hoisin glaze, Sesame Seeds, Nori, Wasabi Mayonaise) and i think these may very be one of the best brussels I've ever had. Wow; they definitely blew me away and I am going to try to emulate the recipe at home. Both of us ordered the giant Wagyu Truffle Burger ($27 - Half-Pound Wagyu Beef Patty, Fontina Cheese, Crisp Prosciutto, "Frizzled" Onion Rings, Arugula, Truffle Aioli, Brioche Bun). This is a pricey burger but it was really good. Was it the best burger ever? Nah but I did enjoy it very much, however, I really couldn't taste too much truffle. You're definitely paying up for the Wagyu...I have had regular burgers that have been just as good as this Wagyu one but again, I did enjoy it. And it was huge and was packed with delicious stuff. Still, I'd even go as far as saying it was a standout burger compared to some others I have had. The rest of the items on the menu sounded appealing too. Prices were definitely comparable to where I'm from (L.A.) but this is suburban Philly so I don't know if they're high or not. Neat fact: The building dates back to 1746 and served historical figures during the American Revolution like George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette and Freiderick Wilhem Von Steuben. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend Black Powder Tavern.

Service was friendly and the menu was surprisingly deep. Overall, the food did not disappoint. We started with the French Onion soup - it is on point and if you like French Onion, I recommend it. I went with the meatloaf sandwich. It was good, but the BBQ sauce was a bit sweet for my liking. Still a creative and enjoyable sandwich. We also got a poke bowl, which was very fresh. I'd recommend getting the dressing on the side as that could overpower some of the aspects of the bowl, but no other modifications needed. I've heard this place can get busy and is a bit of a dive bar. Given its location, I am sure it can get busy so I would plan ahead if you want to eat. As for dive bar, not sure I'd call it that but if I did it would more bit a complement. I say give Berwyn Tavern a go if you are in the area.
