The first we noticed was our utensils were inside of a cellophane sleeve and placed on the table. I love breakfast and there is something for everyone. We started with coffee, which was perfectly brewed and piping hot. My entree was the short stack buttermilk pancakes, bacon and a scrambled egg. Our second entree was an acalpulco omelet with chorizo, cheese jalepeno(excluded), onions, home fries( added green peppers and onions) wheat toast. The bacon was delicious, crispy and cooked perfectly. Coffee two cups later, it was really good with only half&half and one sugar. There is also a lunch menu. We will definitely return for breakfast. There's always a line on weekends so we finally decided to try it. Good diner food - we all had some variation of eggs, breakfast meat, and potatoes. First trip to H-town Grille. Walked in for a table of 2 at 9:15 on a Sunday. It was busy but a few tables were open. It was awkward to stand at the "please wait to be seated" sign for 8 minutes without getting acknowledged. Despite the slow entrance, I am more than willing to chalk it up to a busy Sunday morning. Once seated, we were promptly served coffee and lemonade. Our breakfast choices included Nutella French toast and the Greek omelette. Honestly, both were delicious and came out piping hot. I love homemade home fries, and these are clearly just that. There is a public parking lot two storefronts away, makes it so easy to get in and out. Found this place on Yelp and decided to take my suga woo to breakfast for his birthday. Walked into a small dining room with another room attached. A young man was cleaning tables and chairs and after i inquired we were told to sit anywhere we wanted. The same young man asked if we wanted something to drink and we ordered beverages and looked the menu over. When the young man came back with our beverages we were ready to order and he said "he will be right with you." No lie, we wanted another 5 minutes and as we were about to leave "he" came out to take our order. We received our order, must say the food was average, nothing extraordinary. We were ready to pay the check which was never given to us, so I went up front where the cash register was. Came here for lunch with my friend. This is a typical breakfast place, so the inside is nothing fancy but it was nice and clean. We came with my toddler and they were accommodating and had a high chair. They have the usual breakfast options on their menu along with sandwiches and such. My friend ordered a Belgian waffle and a side of bacon. She really enjoyed her meal, she says she loves their waffles. For some reason, I was craving a cheesesteak which is not what I would normally order from a breakfast place. But, it was surprisingly great. It would probably be a good idea for Breakfast restaurants to have some type of hungry man special. But I'll adjust when I have to and in this case I did. Short stack of each French Toast and pancakes with a side of bacon. All of the food was great! Nice fluffy easy to cut pancakes and the French Toast had a delicious and obvious cinnamon flavor. Many places can't pull off flavors beyond the egg. The bacon was perfectly cooked crisp, not burnt and the pancakes had a beautiful smooth golden brown color you know the kind from a clean grille? LMBO!! As for the coffee it was a little strong but good. The restaurant has a plain but bright appearance with simple restaurant furniture. The walls were a Soft green boasting Philadelphia and Philadelphia Eagles art. The tables were constantly cleaned by a very busy bus person. For my left overs I asked for a container five times before receiving one. My food to go for my mom came without the requested fried onions in the home-fries. Basically requests have to be made several times before a result is produced. I understand being busy but a little more organized teamwork needs to happen. The old Hanne's has gone which I along with a majority of Havertown and surroundings knew oh so well. Little sigh on my end, no more tea cooler being served, but it sure is a whole lot cleaner and brighter. Coming in here I'm still not used to the clean counter, floors and tables, a nice little flat screen hanging in the wall. What is this improvement? cleanliness? a clean grill ? I am still at awe of these improvements. Great ladies here doing a fabulous job. Nothing but delicious, almost plate fillers that covered a good portion of the dish. The bacon was nice sized strips, cooked just right . Wasn't burnt, wasn't chewy , you know what it was. Simply perfect. I came in here again with breakfast again on my mind, seeing I was very pleased with my first visit . I had heard from others that the french toast was a great dish also , so you know I had to go a little Texas style. Texas style french toast with powdered sugar on top, these 6 pieces were fantastic. Perfectly made, golden brown and just delicious. I had asked for a side of sausage and hash browns to compliment and full fill my meal. The sausage links were not little skinny links either, these were some big boys. I was pleased with them , great taste to them mixed with a little syrup and we are all smiles here. The hash browns were even better, I had asked Nick if he could throw some onions in the mix with the order of hash browns. I am glad to have found a good, family run breakfast/Lunch spot because there are so few of these left in Delco. And its not in my neighborhood but totally worth the 20 minute drive. I had the short stack with a side of creamed chipped beef. Both were homemade and you could taste the love. The pancakes reminded me of my grandmother's and the chipped beef was awesome. Coffee was very good and refilled often The owners and workers have put the word SERVICE back into the restaurant experience . Service was quick, cordial, respectful. I took my time and never felt rushed.. When looking behind the counter while they were cooking and getting drinks you got the feeling everyone communicates well because I was impressed with the coordination. Sure, you had your server but based on watching them I got the impression everyone took ownership of ensuring my experience was good. Having only see this type of service in Lancaster or Cumberland Counties the last 10 years, I was very happy to see this in Delaware County. I will be going back. read more

The Reverend Dr. Steak, the Young 'Un and I headed over to check out their breakfast. It's a storefront in a small strip with a township parking lot just a few steps away. For those familiar with Downtown Havertown, they are in the space formerly occupied by Hanne's Breakfast Nook. The restaurant is small in a cozy way, brightly lit, freshly painted and very clean. The grill area gleams. There's a long granite counter with stools for seating and about 8 - 10 tables, mostly 2 tops but there are some 4 tops as well. This is a simple, comfort food/greasy spoon menu (the food was NOT greasy, it's more of a genre in my mind). They serve breakfast and lunch staples - eggs, french toast, chipped beef, burgers, sandwiches, salads. As we do with every new breakfast space, we had the chipped beef - a metric, of sorts, for us, and also the french toast. Both were very very good. Beef was ranked slightly below Gateway II Cafe but above Hymies. French toast was nicely done, firm but not chewy or soggy. Scrapple ON THE FLAT TOP was very good as was the bacon. Service was excellent and the price was very reasonable - we ate for $22 not including tip. read more

Stopped at the Havertown Grille while visiting colleges in the area. We were really hungry for a good home cooked lunch and the Havertown Grille delivered. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful when ordering. They insured our meals were delivered while everything was still piping hot. The cheesesteak was not only huge, but it was delicious (this is Philly after all). I had mine with everything on it. My daughter was equally pleased with her cheeseburger. We shared a large order of fries, which was just enough for the table. The fries are battered before they are fried, which makes them extra crispy and extra delicious. The restaurant delivers a solid meal at a fair price. While this may not be haute cuisine, the Havertown Grille knows how to take basic American food to the next level. A pleasant surprise. My sisters and I needed food fast and our first choice was not open. It's still takeout only/delivery because of Covid. We called, ordered, and picked up our food smoothly and safely. They got cheeseburgers and I got a Reuben. We were all pleasantly surprised and definitely full afterwards. The burgers were juicy and fresh; the Reuben was tasty without being too salty or over-dressed. I would definitely eat here again. Came here on a Thursday for lunch and it was surprisingly busy. One waitress was serving eight or so tables. I ordered the chicken gyro, served with fries. The gyro was just ok. It required a knife and fork and was pretty dry. The fries were cold. My dining partner had an egg sandwich on a bagel, also served with cold fries. I know it's hard to find help these days, but they really needed somebody to assist with serving and we were surrounded by tables that needed bussing long after the other diners had left. The prices aren't on the menu; you have to scan a code to see them, which I unfortunately didn't do. I had sticker shock when we got the check! My family loves the Havertown Grille so much we are regulars. We would either go during the day or weekends and it's always amazing. The owner, Nick, comes over each time and talks to us which makes us feel at home. The other servers, Matt and Maria, are amazing there's never an issue and just as welcoming. Highly recommend this place and the food is to die for. I'm a fan of the avocado toast with eggs, for healthy eaters. Second visit to Havertown Grill. Certainly not something special nor value for your money. A Greek Diner in a café setting. Same Greek Diner menu. Nothing of the slightest interest. The prices, however, are very high for the plate they present. $11 for a single Belgian waffle! $16 for bagel and lox! $11 Grilled Pepper and Eggs A Belgian Waffle at Country Squire is $7.99, Peppers and Eggs are $8.99. If breakfast is the most important meal of the day it seems like it's often difficult to find a good place. Fortunately as a huge supporter of all things Havertown we now have the Havertown Grill. These folks are in the short strip of stores between Hoopty's Pizza and Katz Pharmacy. Parking is a breeze thanks to the public lot next to Hoopty's. It's a tiny place with stools at the counter for maybe six and about ten tables. Most are 2-tops with a couple of 4-tops thrown in. The spacing is tight so be prepared to love thy neighbor! You're not coming here for the atmosphere but because you're hungry. The lovely wife and I stopped in this morning at about 9 am and the place was very busy. We snagged a middle seat and perused the simple menu. It's a single 8X10 sheet with one side for breakfast and the other for lunch. These folks are not open for dinner. The best way to describe this menu is standard comfort food. Fortunately it's comfort food done very well. We both ordered omelets. I choose Florentine and my wife picked the Greek version. They come with your choice of toast and hash browns and go for about $7. They came out quickly and were plated nicely. The fillings for the omelets were plentiful and fresh. The hash browns were excellent and not greasy but need a little seasoning. I would have liked a few onions in them but that's a personal preference. The toast is served dry with plenty of butter and jams available. Throughout our meal the service was outstanding. Never a problem with coffee or water refills. We were in and out with our bellies full in well under an hour. There are a few other spots to grab breakfast in Havertown but these folks will be on our short list. read more

Old Hanne's Breakfast Nook, which I frequented quite often growing up. It was definitely weird walking in and seeing the place so clean. It was a breath of fresh air but weird as the layout is backwards from Hanne's. About 10 tables along with counter seating. The wife and I went early on a Saturday Morning. There were 3 waitresses a bus boy and a short order cook. A little excessive for such a small place but I guess it is good when it is crowded. I had scrambled eggs, with bacon and hashbrowns, while the wife had a cheese omlette. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced. With drinks it came out to about $18. A one page breakfast menu offers the classic options, pancakes, french toast, omelets, bacon, sausage, and of course, scrapple (a local favorite). I opted for one of the omelet specials, a chorizo omelet with onions and peppers topped with salsa and served with a side of hash browns. This is a three egg omelet and was crammed with big chunks of chorizo with bell peppers and onions. This was a monstrous omelet and I got full well before I was able to clean my plate clean. The table was very pleased with this breakfast joint for the fast and friendly service and the delicious food. The price is right and I can see why they pack a crowd in here on the weekends.
