He was one of the nicest servers I have ever had, ever. He recommended some good drinks and he had a few tables in our area and the table behind us were tourists who didn't speak English. He was so patient with them and he even brought out Google translate so he could better help them. He was joking with us and really he made the quick bites go from a 4 to 5 star. A belated review for my favorite Philly brewery that's off the beaten path!…read more Unless you live in the area, plan on meeting friends during one of their many events, or need to chill with some good brews after a successful Wissahickon hike, then this brewery is one that you're likely not going to visit due to it not being near much else. And honestly that's the only thing that keeps Wissahickon Brewing from being a perfect five (and is also why I need to check out their newly opened Fishtown branch). But once you arrive you're transported to a good sized indoor/outdoor brewery space that uses all of the space that it has to perfection. Definitely check out their calendar to scope out the vast amount of food trucks that they play host to throughout the month. but other events might include an open mic night, yoga, or bands playing during vendor markets. For beers I love that they don't rely to heavily on IPAs while offering s good amount of brews that play to the seasons. Favorites of mine include the Sunnyside Mexican lager, the Devil's Pool Double IPA, the Wigwam Hazy IPA, and the their various Frux fruited beers.

I tried a small pour of their Fiona, which is a nice and light winter-spiced beer. I also tried their gin and jam cocktail, which was potent with a nice hint of sweetness from the jam, but not overpoweringly so. We didn't order any food, but it was nice to chit-chat with the bartenders. The space is cozy and chill in contrast to the Fermentaria's bustling atmosphere.

I stumbled across with internet brewery exploration Tired Hands and immediately fell in love with their swag. So for a while now I've been purchasing t shirts and hoodies through their online store. It wasn't until just recently I had the opportunity to try two of their beers in which Steve and I both enjoyed considerably. To start we got the Trendler Dopplebock which had a delightful caramel, toffee and malty flavors in the beer which made the beer pretty enjoyable to drink. The beer we really liked however was a session stout, a type of stout that you don't come across very often. This beer was called the Crushable Void which had a great smooth, roasty, creamy and malty flavors with a low ABV . Like all session beers they are made to drink at a slow pace throughout the day and this stout definitely fits into that category nicely. *Update* Thanks to a fellow Yelper there is another Tired Hands location that remains open under a separate Yelp entry, the Tired Hands Fermentaria remains open.
