A solid choice in the center of Wayne , it is a large space with a good amount of stair steps to the upper level, but an appealing atmosphere. The edamame with house spice is a nice appetizer. The spice sweet drunken noodles with shrimp brings the silken noodles with a spicy edge. Nice selection of N/A drinks - featured on menu. Coffee shop quality cappuccino. read more

First off, this restaurant is beautifully decorated! I was lucky to find a parking spot right out front which is a plus. Services was amazing! I don't remember the name of our waitress, I wish I did so I could give her a shoutout. From start to finish, she was attentive and seemed genuinely happy (which I find rare now a days). I sound like a 70 yo. ‍ Anyway, the food was sooo good. I definitely would go back. They easily accommodated my friends who are vegetarian and another who is gluten free. To the woman who was sitting next to us with her boyfriend/husband, there were tons of red flags! Run for the hills! read more

Came here for happy hour and had a nice time! Otherwise Wayne generally is too pricey for me. The blue elephant cocktail is gorgeous but impractical: you have to stir it but the glass is so filled, spillage is inevitable. Enjoyed it regardless. They had shockingly good wings here as well. I'm interested in coming back for the $28 lunch buffet (which apparently includes sushi now). Our server was lovely and it was lively on a Friday at 5! read more

We were looking for a wonderful Asian place for dinner and we definitely found it. Our waiter was so kind and friendly. He made it a wonderful experience. Tuna Hand Roll was just ok. It had a fishy taste so I didn't like it as much as I wanted to. Waygu beef on a hot stone was absolutely fantastic. We loved it. My husband enjoyed his old fashioned. Drunken Noodles were so good. We loved them. I absolutely loved my cider. We'll definitely be back the next time we visit and have to try other tasty things on the menu. read more

The Blue Elephant is a beautiful space--smaller downstairs, larger upstairs (split staircase without an elevator). A portion of the upstairs is divided by sliding steel/glass doors, which looks like it'd work for a semi-private event. Service was great--our server helped with a drink suggestion and relaying some food allergies to the chef and staff. I enjoyed a lovely Pineapple Basil No-jito (pineapple puree, thai basil, yuzu ginger syrup, soda). For our starters, we shared: - Seaweed (sesame seeds); and - Main Line sushi roll (spicy tuna, scallions, avocado, tempura crunch, eel sauce): a solid sushi roll, no notes! Mains: - Tom Yum Koong (shrimp, squid ink creste di gallo pasta, lemongrass, galangal, bird eye chili, cilantro, kaffir lime dust): a beautiful plate with wonderful flavor; - Drunken Noodles (wok stir-fried wide nodles, eggs, bell peppers, spicy thai basil chili with tofu): so pleased to learn the chef is Thai--this plate was perfectly balanced with salt, fat, acid, and heat; - Poke Bowl (sushi rice, scallions, edamame, shiitake mushrooms, cucumber, jalapeno, fried shallots, spicy aioli, eel sauce with tuna); - Branzino (edamame puree, sauteed garlic spinach, wild mushrooms, tom kha beurre blanc, kaffir lime dust). Would definitely return if out that way again! read more

Had an incredible time at The Blue Elephant. I've been trying to explore more places in the burbs and heard great things. They delivered well. From the food to the ambiance to the service. All excellent. It's a large menu with various flavor profiles. Tons of options for everyone's taste. We ran the gambit. Massaman dish was hardy, tender, flavorful and delicious. I can't stop thinking about the sai ua gnocchi sardi. Very unique dish blending a handful of cultures. It really works and I want more. Truffle fries are addicting and the sushi stole the show. Fusions usually aren't my favorite but this is by far the best combination I've had. The restaurant itself was dope. Elephant themes everywhere. Dramatic stairs to the upstairs dining room. I loved the feel. Our waitress was awesome. Helpful, funny, and personal. All things that are the mark of a great spot. Looking forward to coming back and eating my way through the menu. read more

Was looking for a last minute resy and snagged a spot for lunch with girls at Blue Elephant. From the atmosphere, wonderful and quick service to the delicious and comforting food - it was a hit and I am definitely looking to return with my husband when we are in the area. I ordered takeout for a treat as I was in Wayne for something else. The app had said it would be an hour, but the guy in front of the house made sure the kitchen knew I was there and he found me a comfortable place to wait. I did like the elephants decorating the place. Both items had a nice presentation within the containers. My avocado salad was very fresh. The crudo wasn't my favorite as I don't like tart or vinegar and the liquid it was sitting in tended in that direction. read more

Had a really good experience here. Good service and food, and we were kindly given a complementary dessert because we were dining for our anniversary. We ordered the pork gyoza and spicy tuna roll for apps. Both were good flavor. For an entree, I did the teriyaki eggplant which was amazing. Cooked perfectly, loved the sauce, and the green beans were some of the best I've ever had. Husband got the crab fried rice which was very good. The restaurant itself is very beautiful inside, and I loved the gold chopsticks! Will come again. read more

After a long, delayed flight from the West Coast, I arrived at this restaurant hoping for a relaxing meal. I chose to sit at the bar, where three seats were empty. Despite sitting there visibly and even raising my hand to get the bartender's attention, he-- a white male with dark brown hair tied in a ponytail--never once acknowledged me. He served guests seated on either side of me but completely ignored my presence. Fifteen minutes passed without so much as a menu. Then, a man sat down next to me, and within 30 seconds, the bartender greeted him, handed him a menu, and took his drink order. Only after I waved him down again did he finally bring me a menu. At that point, I decided I'd be ordering my food to go--he wasn't getting a single extra dollar from me. Unfortunately, the food was just as disappointing as the service. It lacked flavor, and the only mildly redeeming dish was the chicken lettuce cups. As I left with my takeout bag, a couple took the bar seats I had just vacated--and of course, the bartender immediately handed them menus as they sat down. This experience was disheartening and frustrating from start to finish. read more

My experience at The Blue Elephant was 10/10. From the moment I arrived, the entire staff including the host, our waiter, and the bartenders were all so kind and very attentive. My friend and I ordered quite the spread - chicken lettuce wraps, steamed gyoza, shrimp tempura hand rolls, short rib, and drunken noodles. The portion sizes were very generous and the prices were (mostly) reasonable. The Peachy Queen cocktail was $17 (which I thought was pricey for an ordinary cocktail). But The Blue Elephant on the other hand ($13) was a much better drink in my opinion. While the food was delicious and the staff were amazing, the tables were very small. As much food as we ordered, I wish we had a little more space to comfortably enjoy our meal. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at The Blue Elephant. I can't wait to check them out again for brunch and happy hour. read more

Food was good, service was good. I will go back. The ambiance is nice. High ceiling, nice bar. Good fusion alternative choices.

Went to Blue Elephant with a friend who likes trying all kinds of Asian food. The ambiance, especially during the holiday, was very charming, warm, and festive. Service was great. Super cute half asian twins sitting next to us with their attentive parents was a bonus! - miso soup - 5*5 - I'm used to getting miso soup that has a few small cubes of soft tofu and a few small sheets of seaweed. This one, for $6 (what a bargain) came with about a dozen mushrooms, plentiful cubes of tofu, and a delicious miso soup base that wasn't too salty or gritty at the end. - crab fried rice - 5/5 - this was perfectly cooked rice, it was almost like each grain of rice was coated with the flavor of the sauce, we loved this generously portioned dish. - drunken noodles with chicken - 4/5, the flavoring was also delicious - I think I may have overheard the waiter saying it was the same as the crab fried rice, and the dish was not oily (as sometimes drunken noodles can be). the only downgrade was for the pieces of chicken in the noodles, they were very thin slices and very dry which was surprising and detracted from the otherwise excellence of the dish I'd go back and try other items - such a beautiful quiet spot with easy parking, at least on a weekday. read more

I LOVE this spot. The atmosphere is super cute although I was a little bummed we ended up in the bar area. If you want something a little less loud and crowded, upstairs is a better option. The spicy salmon appetizer was by far the best thing we chose. The sushi rolls were a great appetizer option. The fried rice and drunken noodles were excellent. The eggplant entree was not was my friend expected, it was a lot of fried food. The salad was very peanut buttery. I would ask your server for recs or check out the pictures before you spend the money. read more

We had a very subpar experience, especially disappointing because we were celebrating our daughter's birthday. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu and current offerings. There had apparently been drink specials over the weekend, but they could not tell us whether those drinks were still available. More concerning, they were unable to answer whether certain dishes contained egg, which is important information for diners with dietary restrictions or allergies. We were asked to place our entire order upfront, which we did at 6:40 PM. Our appetizers did not arrive until 7:10 PM--a 30-minute wait--and then our dinner ticket was apparently lost altogether. During that time, our server did not check on us. At 7:40 PM, with still no entrées, we finally had to ask where our dinner was. The manager came over and apologized, but by that point the evening had already been significantly affected. What was most disappointing was the lack of basic hospitality throughout the experience. We were there for our daughter's birthday, yet no one made us feel particularly welcomed, cared for, or acknowledged. Even simple details were missed--our water was not poured into our glasses. Mistakes happen, and delays can happen, but the combination of limited menu knowledge, poor communication, lack of attentiveness, and a lost dinner order made this experience well below what we expected. read more

Birthday dinner review! Usually, it takes some digging for me to decide on a place perfect for my birthday feast. But when I found out that the restaurant team behind favorites of mine like Azie and Mikado Thai Pepper had a fusion restaurant that merged Japanese and Thai cuisine with Italian. And the end result was perfect fusion without the confusion. The interior was posh and featured a lot of the decor played to the elephant theme. The service was spot on with their recommendations, and the bar poured tantalizing cocktails and mocktails while also featuring an exceptional beer and wine list. The miso old-fashioned was smoky and flavorful with its Suntory Toki whiskey, miso, and bitters. The seasonal Fallen Leaves cockail was a surprising tiki concoction with Bulleit Rye, kabocha squash orgeat, blood orange, and lime. The Italian and Asian fusion shined throughout whether it was through items like a red curry duck pappardelle, edamame truffle tortellini, panko breaded eggplant teriyaki, and a wasabi Caesar salad. But for our dinner we indulged upon the following: Kobe Beef Hot Rock - perfectly seared by us kobe beef with an incredible ponzu sauce! Signature Nigiri - when you get a chef's selection of five perfectly prepared pieces of nigiri you tend to enjoy it before taking a picture! Senza "Tuna" Rolls - vegan sushi is something I've never been curious to try before, but seeing spicy tuna done with soy-marinated bell peppers, carrots, pickled daikon, and a tofu-based spicy aioli was something that unexpectedly delivered. Green Curry Lobster - a classic made even better when it is paired with a basil mafaldine pasta, white wine! Passion Fruit Chocolate Cake - a perfect mix of decadent chocolate and tropical fruit that should not work but absolutely did! Toss in a weekday happy hour, a late-night happy hour on Friday and Saturday, and a Sunday brunch buffet and you have plenty of reasons to check here out! read more

4.5 Came back for happy hour and saw they updated their HH menu! The shishito peppers were the favorite of the table. Salmon canapé would've been a strong contender but there's only 3 small pieces for $8. Also felt like the umami tots weren't worth the price, it's just tatter tots with spicy mayo. The corn fritters were crispy and indulgent. Probably should've gotten less fried food but that's our own fault. Beautiful looking space and we only saw the main floor. Our server Charlie was fun to talk to as well as informed. They have a large menu but not overwhelming with many very interesting sounding choices. They present themselves as Italian Asian Fusion. It had the right combination of heat and sweet with cabbage slaw, soy garlic gochujang (spicy red chili paste) and pickled cucumbers. The Wild Mushroom Agnolotti pasta with seared shiitake and black garlic reduction was also a hit. With various cocktails and beer available it was a very different and fun experience. The Blue Elephant is unique in many ways. From the outstanding menu, to the interesting decor, to the reason I chose to come here initially, and that is their buffet brunch, which is such a wacky and amazing amalgamation of foods, you simply have to experience it to understand why it's the best place you don't know about yet for a morning meal. Mimosa with your seat? Check. Multiple classic breakfast selections? Check. Rather have sushi for breakfast? Check. Plus who says you're not allowed to anyway? And that is exactly why I wanted to come here so bad. Miso soup, sushi, and pan Asian fusion wonders for breakfast and brunch alongside staples, all served in a wonderful buffet of seemingly endless choices that simply wouldn't stop. Everything that I had was wonderful. I definitely leaned towards the Asian influences when I was there, and the sushi was outstanding. Multiple chefs preparing sashimi, nigiri, sushi, and rolls fresh all morning alongside the hot food and other stations. I also made sure to try a little of everything I could find, because why not? Pro tip: they have the MOST delicious blackberries piled high by the waffle irons. Take a small bowl, collect some and bring them back to your table to drop into your mimosas and muddle lightly with a teaspoon; absolute game changer. The traditional breakfast and brunch offerings were less of a draw for me, but were also good but nothing to write home about. Some were unique though, and they do a good job of ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy that comes through the door. The staff was upbeat and happy to help with any request we had, although we didn't have many. Mainly just mimosa requests! The upstairs space is nice and large with windows to look outside and in my case enjoy the icy cold of the winter gripping the little downtown area of Wayne. One thing of note... there is upstairs and downstairs seating, and the steps are steep and small. The buffet itself is entirely located on the second floor. If you are planning on going for brunch, I highly recommend making sure you plan your reservation (as they are required) to be seated on the second floor or you will be consistently walking up and down these seemingly treacherous stairs. This is the kind of place that I will definitely be returning to for brunch again because it was delicious first, but also you can bring almost anyone with you and know that they will be satisfied with their meal and the choices available. Returning for dinner at some point would is also on my list because the menu looks extremely interesting beyond the brunch offerings, and almost as if the whole place transforms in the evening into a mysterious and wild underwater themed wonderland. If you are nearby or visiting the area, this is a definite must try, just make sure to plan your seats in advance! read more

Night after night in this area, we always pass it after dinner and say, we should try the Blue Elephant. Well, we finally did. The worst part was why we didn't try it sooner. From making the reservation, to checking in at the hostess stand, our waiter, and food - EXCEPTIONAL. At first looking at the fusion they are aiming for, it may leave you wondering why or how. Honestly, I do not know either of them BUT whomever created this fusion and prepared it was a genius. Steamed Dumplings - AMAZING Shrimp Tempura - Even better with their house sauce that comes with it The Bread (Appetizer)- Simple but delicious (large enough for 5 ish people to share Short Ribs + Curry= outstanding Our server was very attentive at all the right times. We didn't have to wait for anything such as refills or clearing the table, he was spot on every time without being overbearing, which allowed for us to enjoy our dinner date night together. If I have to say anything that needed improvement, it would be the volume of the patrons in the restaurant, although given the space I am not sure there is anything the restaurant could do about that. Also, it was 7p on a Friday night so it was very busy. A must try place! read more

I celebrated my birthday at The Blue Elephant on Tuesday. The restaurant is beautiful both on the outside and inside. The upstairs seating is super cozy and spaced out enough to where you don't hear other conversations happening around you. Our waiter was helpful and provided his personal favorite cocktails, appetizers and specials since it was our first time dining here. We started off with the tempura corn fritters. Corn is one of my favorite vegetables and this certainly did not disappoint. It was like eating crunchy, buttery corn and the aioli sauce added a nice touch. I'd 100% get this again! My entree was the eggplant teriyaki. This was an interesting way to use eggplant but it hit every mark. I loved the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce under the eggplant slices. The green beans were excellent, too. Finally, the star of the show - panna cotta. I can't say I've ever had this before but clearly I've been missing out. The crunch honeycomb pieces on top were amazing. I loved them so much, I googled where to find them. Perfect service, lovely atmosphere and killer food. The Blue Elephant is a beautifully decorated restaurant with equally tasty food! The gold and blue design with elephants incorporated throughout (their bathroom handles are elephants!) is incredibly elegant. I recently went on a dinner date here when visiting PA and this is easily one of the best restaurants I've been to. We got an intimate table near the top of the staircase and were greeted by our waiter who was super friendly and provided excellent service. We ordered the tempura corn fritters, edamame truffle tortellini, lobster gochujang gnocchi, and panna cotta for dessert. The edamame truffle tortellini is a MUST TRY. All of their pasta is freshly made in house and it reflect in how high quality it tastes. The edamame truffle tortellini is delicious, the herb cream sauce with the mushrooms is a terrific pairing and the yuzu foam and chive oil really brings everything together. I loved the gochujang gnocchi too, but I do wish it was a little spicer. The tempura corn fritters were also terrific, I loved the gorgonzola dipping sauce that came with it. I have been craving the tempura corn fritters ever since I had them! The panna cotta came with honeycomb alongside some fruit and a tasty jam. It was so rich and creamy and a great portion to share between two people. Blue Elephant - Wayne is one of my favorite restaurants now. The Blue Elephant is Italian/Asian Fusion and I think whoever dreamed up this idea struck gold. The decor is beautiful and memorable (see: gold Elephant handles) Everything looks incredibly ornate but also... hip? It works is what I'm getting at. The food: I could spend a lot of time being a glutton here. Unfortunately, I could only order a few things off the menu. I started with a thai tea- it was exactly as anticipated, but it's always been my favorite drink to order. Ordered a sushi roll call the mainline for an appetizer. I love tuna... that's what drew me to this roll. It had great flavor, a subtle spice and a little crunch when I bit into it- I was instantly excited for an entree. For dinner, I decided on the Duck Pappardelle. This dish encapsulates the fusion style perfectly. The sauce was a curry base with microgreens. It was beautiful to look at and even better to eat. Teetering between a 3 and a 4 but I think this meal was an overall solid 3. I checked in for my reservation about 10 minutes early. I was advised that there are no indoor seats available, only outdoor. I was confused as I thought I made an indoor reservation and I even said to the host that I thought I made an indoor res. We ended up sitting outside to avoid a long wait. I checked my reservation when I got home and it was for inside. The Umai shrimp was the star of the show. It was flavorful and a sizeable app. As for my gochujang gnocchi, this $32 dish should have been bursting with flavor but it fell flat. The lobster was really good, but the sauce was really missing something. My friends fried rice was also flat. She opted for the garlic sauce, there was zero garlic flavor. Second time trying the Blue Elephant as we wanted a hand roll but also something warm for dinner without venturing too far. My first visit I was not too impressed with the food nor value for money, but I think we have the order strategy locked in finally. The key here is to focus on pasta and occasionally a roll. The Blue Elephant is a beautiful business- bilevel, great interior design, pretty bar and sushi bar upstairs. Prices are a little high for what they are serving in my opinion (with some exceptions), but that's what you expect when eating in the main part of Wayne. We were quickly seated on a Sunday night, although for some reason they want a phone number to "check in" walk in parties. I declined. Last night we ordered two hand rolls, the wasabi Caesar, the green curry lobster pasta, and the beef drunken noodles. Hand rolls were pretty good. Fresh but won't blow your mind. The wasabi Caesar was an entire skip. I love Caesars and will eat just about any variety, but the dressing was incredibly bland (although fortunately light), conveying 0 wasabi taste. Lots of parm over the bitter greens was really the only saving grace, but came off as bitter and poorly textured. The fried wontons as croutons felt dated and similarly tasteless. Now here's what to order: noodles. The green curry lobster pasta was excellent. Green coconut curry made into the pasta dough made a light, incredibly flavorful dish. Very satisfying. The drunken noodles were spot-on and had a small, satisfying kick, although the beef was cubed so minutely you could miss it if you weren't looking for it. Takeaway: don't come to Blue Elephant expecting to pay less than $45-50/person, but do order the pasta or noodles. Would rate likely a 3.5 if half stars were allowed on Yelp. Next time, I'll try a signature cocktail! read more

We had such a great, spontaneous dinner at The Blue Elephant a few weekends ago! We were able to snag a last minute reservation within a few hours of our arrival on a Saturday evening and were seated quickly on the 2nd floor in the bright, front section that features plenty of natural light (though the tables are VERY close together!). To drink, I ordered The Delightful Geisha, a cucumber and citrus gin cocktail colored with butterfly pea, which was crisp and delicious, while my husband ordered "The Pineapple Express," which was an excellent smoky Old-Fashioned-inspired cocktail made with caramelized pineapple. From there, we ordered: --- Shishito Peppers: lightly tempura-battered and served with a garlic yuzu dipping sauce that made for a delicious but light appetizer --- Temaki Trio: three sushi hand rolls each featuring a different fish, all of which were very yummy, though the salmon was my favorite. --- Green Dragon Roll: I always love trying a vegan option when given the chance, because I love seeing what chefs can do with vegetables. This was a flavorful, delicious, and texturally satisfying roll! --- Main Line Roll: a Spicy-tuna inspired roll that was a solid spin on a classic --- Gochujang Gnocchi: a fun Italian-Asian fusion with pillowy gnocchi and lobster served with a creamy sauce with a mild kick --- Green Tea Tiramisu: good, but not great. Not particularly sweet, if anyone prefers their desserts to be on the less-sweet spectrum. Overall, a delicious meal, and a place we'd return to when in the area. read more
