Five stars for our server! Our server, Tony, really went above and beyond. I have a severe shellfish allergy and he went and checked with the chef to make sure there was no hidden shellfish. Good thing he did, because there was lobster stock in the sauce (it was duck pappardelle). I was able to switch my choice seamlessly. There was a small mixup and the original was brought out with my husband's entree, but Tony came out and quickly whisked it away, before checking on my replacement entree. He was extremely thorough, which was appreciated. It can be hard eating out sometimes because my allergy is not taken seriously. Tony apologized profusely for the mixup and comped a dessert for us, which was really nice. The food, itself, is very good. We had the tempura corn fritters, tuna crudo bruschetta, edamame truffle tortellini, and wild boar pappardelle. It is exactly as advertised - a fusion of Thai and Italian. It had the richness of Italian food and the light fragrance of Thai food. An interesting combo, which surprisingly works. The manager, however, was a bit unprofessional. After the mix up, we saw her going to speak with Tony and the other server (who was very confused) about the duck dish making it to our table. We heard her literally shout "you didn't cancel the other one!" at Tony, clearly in earshot of patrons. She appeared to be berating him. Additionally she never came to check on us, which is fine, but usually in a case like this the manager will come over once the mistake is fixed. It overall didn't seem appropriate. read more

The food is highly overpriced for the quality. We were a party of 7. We ordered two orders of gyoza. All cold. Three steaks were ordered. 2 medium rare and one medium. 30 min later the food arrived room temp. The medium was rare. Sent back to kitchen. Brought out a totally new steak 15 min later. It was rare. That was about it. We told them we weren't paying for the steak. They took it off the bill. Drunken noodles were almost inedible due to spiciness. I had Blue Elephant sushi roll. Mango inside roll was not ripe. Like eating a potato. In the middle of summer you can't find a ripe mango? Cmon! This was our second visit to Blue Elephant. It will be our last. Just really bad food. Ambiance was brutal. It was lit up like a mental ward on a Friday night. Dim the lights. Add candles to the tables. Here's the list of what we got: Squash soup: flavorless and grainy in texture. We sent it back. It had croutons on the side that tasted like the ones that come in a premade salad mix at acme. Haikado bread: also flavorless. The butter and jam on the side was fine. Chicken fried rice: rice was overcooked, chicken was dry. Just terrible. Two sushi rolls: forget the names but both were small and loosely rolled. Taste was ok but there is much better sushi out there. Dumplings: lacked meat and tasted like frozen dumplings Also we had a few cocktails and they had no alcohol in them. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in the area!! We got the wagyu appetizer which came with a sizzling hot stone to put the wagyu beef slices on. I ordered the tom yong pasta, my husband got the steak, and we also got the goat cheese crouton salad. Then we got a creme brulee to share. The salad was quite a large portion size! The goat cheese croutons were cool -- it was like the cheese was breaded and deep fried. Very tasty! The tom yum koong squid ink pasta was SO good. I have never had pasta like that before and it was so chewy and tasty. The flavor with the pasta is very unique. If you like thai flavors then this is good! The steak was really good as well, although the steak was quite fatty so the size is not quite as advertised. The dish was overall very good though! We came here pre concert for a cocktail and appetizer. The bar was full but quickly we were able to sit. The bartenders were very attentive and accommodating. The drink selections were interesting Asian twist on classic cocktails. I opted for essentially a smoked old fashioned with pineapple. Although I couldn't taste the pineapple per se the drink was boozy and delicious. We also opted for a standard old fashioned not wanting miso, tea infusions, and sake in our cocktail. The restaurant was hip and lively with people. We also had the vegetable and pork gyoza. They came 6 to an order and were steamed. The flavor was good and the dipping sauce was so good. I can say for the few things we tried it was good. The food coming out also appeared good and the vibe was good. All in all for drinks a good stop on a busy Friday night in Wayne. I was a huge fan of Matador, which was in this spot for quite awhile, so I was curious as to what had replaced the delicious tapas there. So on my first visit to The Blue Elephant, I was hoping to experience something special with their smaller plates, and they absolutely delivered far and beyond my expectations! The aesthetics of the main room and bar areas are extremely welcoming and bright, and comfortable for a variety of Main Line types, from the casual diner in shorts to a tailored jacket patriarch. The staff is warm and friendly; and are informed and ready with drink and menu suggestions. The hand rolls are simply amazing a-la carte delights, so exceptionally delicious and fresh! The California Roll features lump crab meat, rather than the traditional cube you will find at most sushi establishments. The texture blends in to the avocado and rice, while standing out in its flavor. The Yellowtail Roll is nothing short of amazing, possibly one of the finest rolls I have ever eaten! To follow these, I tried the pork gyoza, which was soul-transporting: perfectly prepared with a dipping sauce which will send your taste sensations aflight into the heavens! I am certainly going to return - SOON - to sample more of this inspiring fusion menu, so look for me to add to this review in the near future! Not sure where those low ratings came from. My friend and I came here for dinner the other night. First off this restaurant is breathtaking! The details are beautiful from the chandeliers, gold elephant decors, gold rimmed glasses and gold utensils. We sat upstairs and ordered a few items. My friend is currently pregnant and was able to order a mocktail that they had (forgot what it's called but she enjoyed it!). I got the blue elephant which was beautiful and tasty. I got salmon and branzino sushi for an appetizer. Both were very fresh fish. I enjoyed the spice from the wasabi. I also got the pork belly ramen. Really good. I just wished there was more of the pork belly or dish overall? My friends for the shrimp tempura hand roll and the shrimp drunken noodles which she enjoyed. The prices are high here but I can see why since it's located on the busiest street in Wayne. Our server was very nice and attentive as well. I thought it was a great experience overall! Would love to have work dinners here. I think they would enjoy it. Can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu :) read more

I ordered a NA drink that was well made but I don't remember the name (but $14 for a n/a drink is crazy). They have a downstairs floor with tables for dining and a bar. They also have more room upstairs for dining. We were promptly seated and greeted by our waiter who was very nice and provided friendly service. Cocktails were delicious. As the food came out throughout the meal, we couldn't help but notice how efficient the service was. The food came out fast but at the same time we did not feel that it was rushed whatsoever. They timed it perfectly. The food itself was delicious. The tuna bruschetta had nice flavor with the dill aioli and wasabi all packed in a bite. The philly special roll with kobe beef had a nice smoky flavor. The main course involved asian inspired fusion. If you want to go somewhere that takes a bold spin on food and utilizes unique flavors that work-- this is your spot! My lamb was cooked perfectly and cut like butter. The Thai curry sauce that accompanied it was so spicy and flavorful. Finally, the dessert had such a delicious combination of matcha, fruit, and crunch that accompanied the creamy texture. It was AMAZING!! shishito peppers- tempura battered, japanese spices, garlic yuzu aioli ** Sooo goood, very lightly battered and full of flavor without being spicy!! umai shrimp- crispy tempura batter, gochujang aiol ** crispy and tasty!! tempura corn fritters-togarashi, chive oil, gorgonzola crème * Seasonal item*** these were probably one of my favorite. The Gorgonzola cream with the fritters were absolutely amazing.!! wasabi caesar- baby kale, crispy wonton, parmesan, edamame, black sesame, wasabi caesar dressing *** this sounded very interesting and since we really love Cesar salads, we had to try this. Did not taste the wasabi, but the salad was very tasty! eggplant teriyaki - panko breaded italian eggplant, sweet miso, garlic sautéed french green beans, white rice **** this was so delicious! My date was on time but I got caught in traffic and was late for my reservation. The waitress and manager spent the rest of the evening treating us like we weren't wanted there. The dining area was empty but the manager refused our request to change tables. The waitress told us when had two minutes to order and then said we had to order the full menu at once. The whole night was unpleasant service and the manager eventually asked us to leave. But the food was even worse than the service. The mocktail I had tasted like sugar water. The avocado salad was a pile of mixed greens with half an avocado on top. The tofu teriyaki didn't seem to have any teriyaki and the tofu was practically raw. Good balance of vegetables. 2. Spicy crab fried rice. Needed a little more spice and crab. 3. Drunken noodles with Kobe beef. (3 of us ate this). Excellent meal and the beef was tender. I would have enjoyed more Kobe beef or a recommendation of Kobe beef on the side. The staff was outstanding on New Year's Eve. The interior designer did a great job designing this space! Every little detail adds something to the visual experience and ambience, even the playlist. Good song selections and the volume was low enough to hold a conversation but also tune into the music every so often. We sat at the bar on a Saturday afternoon and were able to order from the brunch menu and full menu. We sampled the Thai iced tea, fried chicken sandwich, green curry lobster pasta, and the Philly roll. The food and drink were delicious. Service upon arrival 10/10...very nice and hospitable.. it was our 1st time there, wasn't sure how to pay, but being in the restaurant industry, after we told the busser we were completely done and all plates and silverware were taken, I was expecting the bill, went up to the "manager" to pay, "she said, Am I in your way! Blue elephant and miso old fashioned drink were both beautifully crafted and dangerously flavorful that gave only small hints of alcohol. Started with the tuna bruschetta and hot rock wagyu which were both light and delicious. Do not miss the interactive hot rock wagyu- completely worth the fun of searing it yourselves at the table. We also enjoyed one of their special rolls, edamame tortellini, and a seafood pasta with a little spice! So very good. Our drinks came after our appetizers by accident but they immediately comped our first round without asking so I would call that flawless service. The pace of dinner was perfect for our date night. I throughly enjoyed my dining experience at The Blue Elephant! Beautiful decor and classy ambiance, the restaurant was packed for happy hour on a Thursday. I ordered the blue elephant cocktail. AMAZING. This was a great way to start my meal and left a fantastic impression on me. My friends and I ordered the tuna bruschetta, shishito peppers (twice!) and happy hour hand rolls. Next time, I'd forgo the hand rolls, but other than that, I enjoyed my meal. Usually when restaurants are overly nicely decorated, the food quality is compromised, but not at Blue Elephant!
