I went there with a few friends on a Saturday night and surprisingly the place was fairly empty. We were seated upstairs in one of the private rooms which was nice and cozy & intimate. The food was very good; however, the service was a bit on the slow side. I hate to in-a-sense penalize a restaurant because of poor or slow service could easily have been just our server. Had we had a different server, perhaps the service would have been different. Everything on the menu was on the more expensive side, but Maison Lotus is located in the Main Line, so prices will be on the higher side, because the general clientele can afford it. My coworkers and I came here for happy hour last night. First off the restaurant interior is so so beautiful! I love the green wallpaper with golden accents. It gives a tropical/jungle vibe. We all sat at the very nice curved bar and ordered a bunch of drinks and different food items on happy and off the happy hour. I got the lychee martini ($8) which was pretty and good! A bit more of a floral taste from the rose then actual lychee. I also got the $7 sparkling wine which was also good. The happy hour menu is small but has some good items. The salmon crudo and Korean fried chicken bao buns were a hit with our crowd. My coworkers also enjoyed the mussels, mushroom bisque, drunken noodles and seafood curry fried rice. I got a the waygu pho which had a nice broth (even though it was lukewarm) and a decent amount of meat. Pretty good pho but not sure if it was worth the price tag. Overall it was a good time until we had to settle our bill. Some coworkers left and paid their portion but at the end the bartender decided to put the rest on one tab which made paying super confusing. Came here for a Friday happy hour and had a nice time. The bartender was awesome, very friendly and personable. It was quiet on a Friday at 4pm so we had the bar almost to ourselves. For happy hour we got the tuna crudo (not a crudo, more like sashimi) and that was tiny for the price but I'm glad I didn't pay full. The crispy chicken bao buns were to die for and I would've ordered more if my fiance were hungrier. The brussel sprouts were actually just ok. I'm finding fewer fried sprouts out in the wild that do it for me anymore. A sticking point for me was they put raw nuts in it. Which not only aren't the best texture, as they get stuck in your teeth, but not a very nice flavor either. Overall, a pleasant dining experience at Maison Lotus (sister-restaurant to Blue Elephant). The interior of the restaurant is much larger than it looks from the outside--we were seated in a quiet area upstairs, which filled up as the evening progressed. Service was solid. We started with: - Pillow Bread (3 pieces of fried dough, pandan spread, sweet miso butter), which I thought was delicious with either spread or butter; - Crispy Duck (4 bao buns, cucumbers, tamarind hoisin), which had extra-crispy duck, though the tamarind addition to the hoisin slightly dampened the flavor profile; - BBQ Pork Buns (3 steamed pork buns, milk bread), which were great when you got bits of pork, but were generally light on filling. On the recommendation of a diner who had been before, I went with the Drunken Noodles (wide rice noodles, eggs, bell peppers, spicy thai chili basil) + Lump Crab, which was plentiful, but I think I'd have preferred a less overpowering, more traditional protein. We came here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. Ambiance on the inside is very beautifully decorated. We ordered the Maison 175, Indochine Bloom, wagyu pho, signature banh mi, and pistachio opera for dessert. Our server was super nice and gave great recommendations. I think the manager stopped by as well to check on us. Overall service was excellent. Drinks were fruity and strong. Wagyu pho was good, but on the light side in terms of flavor. I also wish they had a different protein version other than wagyu, as it makes the pho pretty pricey at $28. Banh mi was good, the napoleon dessert was just okay. Overall it's a good lunch option, but keep in mind it's more fusion leaning and can be a bit pricey. That said, we are interested in coming back and trying their dim sum brunch. read more

Maison Lotus is the more Vietnamese-themed cousin of Wayne's Blue Elephant. I was initially hesitant as I am not a fan of Blue Elephant but a friend's suggestion brought me around to trying this centrally-located, upscale eatery. Immediately, I was more impressed than I expected. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully appointed in golds and greens with an attractive central bar convenient for small groups or drink dates. The drink menu featured some fun themed cocktails (I tried the Pho cocktail- gin, herbs, etc, and really enjoyed the spice and savory flavor). The dinner menu features some raw options, dimsum, and curries, which felt like a bit of a jumble in theme but was well executed. We adored the crab spring rolls which were bursting with real crab meat and juicy flavor. The crispy chive dumplings were a mochi-style and served with a molasses sauce. They were good but could be passed on. I was very impressed with my spicy green curry, which contained ample vegetables and a nice kick. Maison Lotus is doing a service to Wayne's food scene and we'll be back! (Looking forward to trying their basement speakeasy some weekend in the future, too) read more

The staff were wonderful! Very inviting and helpful with the menu. I stopped by for happy our a glass of wine and 3 "bites" items came to $31 which is a good price for the lovely atmosphere. I would say however the food itself was a little lack luster. The dumplings were on the blander side and the bao chicken bun was mostly breading less chicken than expected. The tuna tartare was okay the mouth feel of the tuna wasn't my favorite. I don't think I would come back for the food but I'd definitely stop in for a drink again. read more

Mason Lotus is a great go to place in Wayne. I come here regularly with co-workers and friends. Just about everything here is delicious and high quality. The servers are always attentive and Ralphel is especially warm and welcoming. My favorites on the menu are the brussel sprouts, salmon crudo and chicken dumplings. The Sunday Brunch Buffet is AMAZING and a favorite after church. I also appreciate that tea forte is the tea of choice and served regularly here! Delicious! Love, love, love! I've been to Maison Lotus a bunch of times now, and I have never been disappointed. In fact, I can't wait to go back. The menu is really terrific. They have lots of different kinds of food, including French onion soup, fried rice with various protein types, wonderful appetizers, coffees, teas, and Danish pastries. I love their pad see ew. They have dumplings of all sorts, dim sum, and, of course, wonderful Vietnamese food. They have brunch, etc. The atmosphere is really fun and energetic, and the service is outstanding. A friend was tagged on Facebook having dinner in the most beautiful restaurant. "Where is that?!" I asked. That's how I learned about Maison Lotus, an Asian restaurant in the former Margaret Kuo location. Did I love my meal there? Not exactly, but I thought it was by-and-large good, likely prompting a return visit. I generally gravitate to restaurants that specialize in one type of cuisine. Maison Lotus is fusion, offering Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese dishes. We started with wonton soup. The broth had subtle sesame flavor, enhanced with cilantro and crispy shallots. I wasn't enamored with the wonton or its stuffing -- a combination of shrimp and pork. For lack of better description, the dumpling was "mushier" than I thought it should be. The star of my meal was pad see ew with chicken. Though I doubt their wide noodles are homemade, they tasted like they could be. Lucky me; leftovers tonight! My previous experience with shaking beef was in a Vietnamese restaurant on Buford Hwy, an area known for Asian restaurants in Atlanta. The dish was memorable. It had tang. Maison Lotus's version is Americanized. The filet mignon was good quality and cooked medium rare -- but it lacked distinct flavor. (My husband, not an aficionado of Vietnamese food, thoroughly enjoyed the dish.) Maison Lotus's bartender serves up innovative drinks. Their dessert menu also stands out. The staff we interacted with is great, particularly William, the assistant manager and Olly, our server. While my preference is for Chinatown hole-in-the-walls, I think Maison Lotus has a bright future on the Mainline. Great atmosphere, fun and tasty cocktails, and good appetizers at this Vietnamese inspired fusion restaurant. Service and entrees were not as great. The real stars were cocktails here. The pho cocktail was incredible and really did have the herbal and star anise flavor from pho. We got the crispy duck buns, summer rolls, and a salad to start and all were decent. The summer roll wrapper was a bit plastic-y but otherwise tasty. The mains were a bit more disappointing with the pork in the Vermicelli bowl being overcooked as well as the beef in the Crying Tiger. The seafood curry fried rice had some mussels that tasted a bit fishy but overall was good. I'd recommend coming here for happy hour or just some cocktails and an appetizer or two. read more

Wow! This place is beautiful! So it is a cafe starting at opening, the dining room opens at 11am for lunch and upstairs opens at dinner time. Very nice people working here, offered descent conversation and invited us back. We plan to return. I enjoyed a delicious capaccino and spinach and cheese Danish. The dough was magnificent! In March, TikTok first piqued my interest in the newly opened French Vietnamese Maison Lotus in Wayne. No disappointment with the food, service, or the lovely lotus-focused atmosphere. Our server, Olly, was very attentive and accommodating during our stay. Our chosen appetizers: steamed dumplings and crispy spring rolls -taste freshly made. Interesting little spot in downtown Wayne. Close access to parking in a slightly less busy section of town, this place has ample seating both at the bar and throughout the dining room. Service was friendly and fairly attentive. The drink menu is fantastic! Fun combinations, uncommon spirits (pisco, for example), and fantastic flavor. Highlight of the evening! The food was less of a success. The hot stone wagyu was fun, but the pho sauce was a little bland. Still a fun experience though. The shumai were bland and mushy, not a good offering on either taste or texture. Hard pass for next time. I'm a huge fan of pad see ew, so that was a must, and they have a decent offering. Though, if you like a darker flavor, this might not be for you. I like it all, so it worked for me. The Shaking Beef was pretty good as well, with a large portion of well cooked meat. Delicious! For a side, we got the mushroom sticky rice, and that honestly wasn't that great. Bland, overcooked. Sounded excellent, but just didn't deliver. Overall, the drinks are great, and the noodles and entrees we had were good, but everything else was a miss. We will probably be back for drinks, but it'll be a bit before we try again for dinner most likely. Stick to the noodles and specials, avoid the apps and sides. read more

My neighbor and I came here for dinner on a weekday. We order the lobster shumai, the dumplings, and the rock shrimp. The lobster shumai was very buttery, and took me slightly by surprise. The dumplings were typical, and the rock shrimp was our favorite. But it is quite hard to go wrong with rock shrimp. Given this small portioned meal, the price is not worth it. We recently decided to stop by Maison Lotus for a nightcap after dinner at Blue Elephant (their sister restaurant). We absolutely love Blue Elephant so we had high hopes. I would like to go back to try the food to give a full review, but the bar menu was good and I enjoyed my cocktail. Also the aesthetic of the bar itself was very nice, and the bartender was very kind. The main reason for deducting two stars is because of the flies. Perhaps it was just because we were sitting somewhat close to the front door (where two big LED lights are mounted), but there were small flies and gnats ALL over us, as well as the floor. Every time the front door was opened, we'd be pelted with more bugs. It was so bad that we decided to leave after just one drink. I really think this place has potential, and I would love to come back once they get a handle on the issue, maybe in the winter months, or just at a different seating area, and try their food. I don't want this deterring anyone from trying it out, more just a cautionary tale not to sit at the bar by the door (hopefully that's the only spot that has an issue)! read more

For starters, coming from an Asian background, I'm very nitpicky about Asian restaurants. Most of the highly hyped, aesthetically decorated spots don't deliver food that matches the energy put into their design. Maison Lotus had delivered both, an interior and modern fusion vibe (very reminiscent of a city restaurant) and the food did not disappoint. Asians know how crucial pho broth is, and the chef here nails it. We also ordered the mussel appetizer, and the portion was so big, it could be an entrée. As someone always on the hunt for cute coffee shops, the cafe did not disappoint either. I got the ube coconut latte and it had the perfect balance of flavor, sweetness, and caffeine! The apps we got were outstanding (cloud bread, shrimp shumai, crispy duck). Our entrees were equally good, and huge portions for both the shaking beef and walnut shrimp. What a fabulous welcome our bookgroup received at Maison Lotus! Manager Juanita is a wonderful hostess and the staff were so attentive. Our group had read Kamogawa Food Detectives, a Japanese novel in translation which deals with recipes and nostalgia. We were able to use a lovely private room to share the show and tell of Japanese ceramics. The small plates we shared, especially loved the lotus salad and the lotus shrimp, were absolutely perfect. We enjoyed tea service and the wallpaper in that private room is just stunning! I would heartily recommend Maison Lotus as a meeting location for any size group. read more

This French Vietnamese restaurant is beautiful. We stumbled onto this place after finishing White Lotus (HBO show) and felt we were magically transplanted to a tropical paradise. We were pleasantly surprised with the ambience. The restaurant spans 2 floor and provides ample seating with private-ish rooms (a couple tables are segregated and it felt like an oasis). Our party of 6, including 1 baby, were seated relatively quickly. Since the restaurant is new, the server admitted that they were working out a few kinks and asked us to provide honest feedback. I appreciated that they were upfront about this and were quick to correct any mistakes. For example, the duck was cold, felt like it came out of the refrigerator (it was rare and we loved it). We asked if that was correct, and the server took the dish to the kitchen they seared it and overcooked it. We never found out if it was supposed to be cold so, there's that. We ordered a variety of apps and entrees and shared them so that we could try everything. The food was good and it tasted like they use quality ingredients. The bill reflected that. For cocktails we ordered (and what we thought): 1. the Maison 175 rabbit (collectively did not like this one, it tasted like alcohol and lychee) 2. Moon Rabbit ( was fine) 3. Gabriela's Pho (tastes like what it reads, but colder) 4. Indochine Bloom ( complex flavors and group favorite) For the apps and salad: 1. Our overall favorite was the Lotus salad as it seemed the most authentic 2. spicy beef salad (it was actually spicy) 3. leaf wrapped waygu (packed with meat and grill flavors). 4. steamed dumplings (other places do it better) For our mains we ordered: 1. Roasted duck (flavorful and cooked rare, but unsure if that was intentional) 2. But, my meal was outstanding My party of 4 was seated upstairs right away and the service throughout was attentive and informative. The vegetable spring rolls were crisp and hot and the dumplings were tasty. The pillow bread starter was great, also. Our entrees came out quickly and were all excellent. The shaking beef was tender and delicious, the sweet and savory chicken was great, and the miso salmon was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Desserts were also wonderful. The pistachio opera cake was good but the vanilla bean crepe cake was the star. The seating was comfortable and the noise level was not bad. Overall, a great experience and I will be back. Disappointing on all counts. Cafe, Lunch, and dinner were all meh at best. The Pho broth was a tepid temperature barely warm enough to be called warm. The shaking beef (a Vietnamese staple) was overcooked, tough, and missing its signature sourness (salt and lime sauce). Portions for apps are not shareable, and you'll need to order them individually rather than for the table. The duck was soft and mushy; How can you serve duck with soft and fatty skin rather than crispy? As for service well they tried their best but if a customer sends something back, I'd expect someone besides the server to come over and ask why. If food is sent back make some inquires! Everything felt like a rush like they wanted us out the door after dinner right away. The pastries are very hit or miss; Unfortunately, I got the misses, but my friend got a hit. The tarts can all be skipped but the Ube tiramisu was good. Sadly, we don't think we will be back just for that. Lunch was more of the same. Service was iffy and I ate the most expensive disappointing Banh Mi of my life. Philadelphia was a large Vietnamese community and with a short train ride I can have better Vietnamese food and less than half the price. As well as having cocktails and apps late into the evening without feeling pushed out the door.
