Made a reservation for dinner here and checked out the previous reviews for dress and environment. Dressed up a bit and showed up for an early dinner around 5. I was surprised when we arrived that the place was empty. Environment is upscale Asian decor with high ceilings and a combination of booths and tables. Tables and the parking lot filled up by the time we left. Everyone was dressed very casually. A regular at the corner table came in her tennis outfit. We came, of course, for the food. Two of us ordered a sushi special roll and another off the menu for an appetizer. They were not impressive or tasty. The crab roll seemed to be lacking a lot of crab. The foie gras appetizer although $45 was a good value for three pieces nicely browned on top of some sushi rice. The entree special of scallops with risotto was just ok. The scallops needed a better sear and the plate presented was a sleepy beige all around. The venison special was the envy of everyone at the table, tender and flanked by the goat cheese dumplings. The rack of lamb was not cooked as a rack but as individual chops. It was tasty nonetheless and served with pillowy gnocchi. Desserts were enjoyable including the beignets, chocolate cake, and the strawberry frasier. Service was ok but we were obviously treated differently than the regulars. I'm glad I stumbled upon this place while driving. I went during lunch hours on a Tuesday so it was not packed at all. Another thing I noticed was how clean and beautiful the inside was. This place has some good drinks, but what stands out here is the food! I ordered the spicy tuna and tuna avocado rolls. Both very fresh and delicious. And I was absolutely blown away by the coffee creme brûlée. Easily one of the best desserts I've ever had here. The service here is also phenomenal. I highly recommend Nectar! read more

The beef was WAY too strong and I couldn't really find any kind of nuance of flavor; the curry chicken had zero detectable curry. My mom was quite bummed. Not a bad dish; just no curry. I came here for a work dinner the other night with some coworkers. The place is very beautiful and spacious inside with Asian themed decor and a huge wine fridge that spans 2 floors! We got a bunch of appetizers to try from pork bao buns, calamari, edamame, pork dumplings. Everything was very flavorful and cooked well. I also got a lychee martini which was delicious. Allergies were noted (we had two gluten free and one but allergy in our party) and our waiter was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. I got the surf and turf which was the lobster and filet. It was very pricey but worth it! I got a lot of lobster which was sauteed with this delicious sauce. The filet was very tender slightly overcooked (I wanted medium rare but it was medium) and needed some seasoning. I subbed out the blue cheese potatoes for some whipped mash. The asparagus was crunchy and had a lot of flavor. A well balanced dish! We also got a side of lobster fried rice which was also good. For dessert we split a maple creme brulee without the pecan pie. Wow! This is an extreme surprise, you go down a quiet suburban road and out of nowhere pull into this restaurant, there's complimentary valet and a huge (no marijuana) sign. You step in and it's a huge upscale dining room, similar to Buddakan in Old city, there's a huge bar and a sushi bar. The menu is much more extensive with sushi, sashimi, Chinese and Asian items. We ordered some sushi, 2 appetizers, and three mains for the 4 of us, portion size is generous. My favorite were the Vietnamese sandwiches, the wok chili tenderloin and the saffron infused fried rice. We definitely didn't have enough space for dessert. But such a great place. I've always heard great things so I finally tried it. I was incredibly impressed with the quality of service by the entire staff. We sat at the bar and the two bartenders Dominic and Tim were great. They gave good food recommendations and were very friendly. All other staff were very friendly greeting everyone with big smiles. It's really beautiful inside with various sitting areas. The bar is small but comfortable and great quick service. Overall the food was good but wasn't as amazing as I've always been told. The quality of the food isn't worth the high prices of each item. The Brussels sprouts are good and very crispy. Every bite is crispy which is rare with Brussels sprouts. They're good but lack flavor other than the Brussels sprout flavor. They're pretty dry because they don't come with any sauce or any other flavor component. Pork dumplings are a bit mushy and don't have much flavor. They had a weird texture and were barely crisped. Chicken pad Thai- very good flavor. Well cooked with crunch and a zing but not spicy Fried rice- good charred flavor. Sausage is a bit spicy. Fluffy rice and all veggy flavors mix well. We had a lovely meal at Nectar last nite. The service was attentive, but not pushy, and very responsive. It was packed on a Saturday night creating a pretty loud atmosphere. If you're looking for a quiet meal this is likely not the place for you. That said, the energy was good. Their menu consists of sushi items as well as more traditional plated meals. We started with the Dim Sum Bento for 2 and I would highly recommend it. Always nice to have rates of a few different things. My entree was one of the specials; seared scallops over a pea risotto. The dish was presented well, with a generous portion of 5 scallops. Overall, it was tasty but extremely salty. While the scallops were delicious and butter tender I would argue they didn't appear seared at all. My mango ginger martini was tasty, and the right amount of sweet. Then after we asked about the room upstairs, we were seated right next to a celebrating party. Nigiri slices of tuna and sake were pretty thin. Spicy tuna handroll was decent but nothing unique. Not pictured: Crispy calamari & Edamame - 3/5 - calamari was fried well but not much flavor - relies on dipping in the accompanying sauce. So this place wants to be pretentuous upscale asian fusion. The space is really cool, a little loud but cool. It is starting to show its age a bit though. We had reservations and arrived on time. We were dressed casual. They hid us away upstairs, which was fine. There are three or four waitstaff. Its a social experience for them. Never checking with the table. Never asking to refill or replace water. Although at the speed the food comes out I don't know if there any pauses long enough. Apps came out in under five minutes. No joke. Dumplings, good flavor, skin a bit thick, but lukewarm. Sitting on a congealed bed of chili oil. Tuna tartar, too cold, premade and shaped way earlier, it had that fuzzy "not fresh" feeling to it. Shrimp miso soup, loaded with everything, lukewarm. So we'll rate all apps as "meh". Presentation was nice enough. It'd be nice if they were made to order, or at least heated to order, with less dependency on chef mike. The entrees fared a little better, but not by much. Nothing was really flavored that well. None of it spent enough time in the wok to get hot enough, nor were the ingredients that special. Particularly at these price points. It just fails to deliver. Its all just "meh". We started with drinks, and I had a hard time settling on just one. I chose the Lavendar Goddess, and it was delicious. Service was attentive, timely, and pleasant. We ordered many appetizers. We recently came to Nectar with a graduation party of ten. We were seated at the height of a Saturday dinner rush, immediately at the time of our reservation. Everyone ordered off the menu, no dishes were repeated. The service was impeccable, every dish was served perfectly prepared and more or less at the exact same time. Birthday dinner review! For years my birthday tradition was doing dinner in Philly with my closest family. But after a couple of decades of doing it, my dad decided this year that he was done with city driving for rightful reasons, and requested that I moved it to suburbia. That didn't mean that I couldn't try and find the perfect white elephant city-style restaurant in the suburbs. Based on a lot of people's reviews on here, and the huge exterior caught glimpses of while passing by on the way back from work, it seemed like Nectar fit the description. I was also drawn by the thought of savoring some Japanese French fusion, and being able to relish in some dumplings and sushi with some damn good surf and turf. And for all of the above Nectar was a revelation! Service was attentive AF throughout and gave plenty of good suggestions as needed, and the interior space was as large and impressive as the first. It's pretty easy for fusion restaurants like Nectar to go through fusion confusion. But they blended their menu quite well and also served some great straight-up Japanese sushi options. I also enjoyed the drink menu which featured some great signature cocktails and a well-rounded beer list and the fact that they made their own desserts on site. For food I enjoyed the following: Chicken Curry Dumplings - a perfect Asian Indian dumpling with just the right amount of spice. Crispy Calamari & Edamame - two of my favorite appetizer options come together with the right amount of spice and two delicious dipping sauces. Yellowtail Scallion Roll - The perfect not too fishy roll to share with some people who aren't that big on sushi. Sea Salt Crusted Shrimp and Beef Tenderloin - tender flavorful beef combine perfectly crusted shrimp, zucchini, asparagus, and some fresh chiles for a bit of a kick. Deconstructed S'mores - S'mores get better when you use peanut butter creme brulee and banana marshmallows. Nectar Valrhona Chocolate Torte - When your waiter surprises you with a chocolate torte for your birthday, you pass it around the table and savor that incredible dark chocolate and smooth raspberry coulis! All of this exceeded my expectations enough for me to want more. While visiting friends on my drive from Florida, they gave me a choice of 3 restaurants and I had never been to Nectar soooooo it was an obvious choice. Absolute best decision of the night and a true highlight of the trip. Magnificent service, food, and ambiance. From the warm greeting at the door to packaging our leftovers, everything was impeccable. Our waiter was so personable and patient with my seafood allergy and the changes I requested. Chef was very accommodating and made a steak and cucumber roll that was exquisite. The chicken curry dumplings were a perfect blend of curry and were delicious. The crispy chicken had the best sweet and sour sauce (crispy outside tender inside). And the basmati fried rice was smack your lips good! My companions loved their Halibut and cleaned the plate. The salmon avocado rolls was perfect. The restaurant is like the Tardis and looks small from the outside but large inside with a second story perimeter dining that overlooks the first floor. The 'mood lighting' was not too dark and I could see my companions and the music low enough to still be heard but not intrusive. If my phone hadn't died, i'd have taken some interior pictures and the menu; but, as I said, loved every morsel and will definitely be back. read more

Everything was excellent. First, we sat at the bar and had Margaritas and the "Asian Manhattan (infused with 5-spice) which was so nice, I ordered it twice. For apps, we had the edamame dumplings and the calamari, which were perfect. The calamari was crisp and flavorful, while the dumplings were just an enhanced favorite of mine. For the main course, we had Crispy Chicken and the Moo Shu Pork, which are both phenomenal. We had the Francis Coppola to complement, which was great. We finished off the night with the Espresso Panna Cotta and coffee. Both were great, though I wish there was more Panna Cotta. Finished off the evening with a gentle nod from M. They spatially planned the seating area and private rooms, the outdoor seating area, and the orange saffron color being used in unexpected ways throughout. There is no one there to execute the grand plan. The tables are a bit dirty, the floor in the ladies room made me come home and leave my shoes outside. The dishes and glassware give off an odor of dirty water. The wait staff is not relaxed and happy. The dishes are hit or miss with one dish Being great and another making you not want another bite. There is something missing between the planning and execution here and at this price level the execution should not be lacking. The highlight of the evening was the hard working valets who are friendly and hustling. And to the rude couple in their G wagon next time don't park in the handicapped spot and try to tip the valets. Ugh I'm so sad to write this. We went to spend our anniversary dinner here but we're extremely let down last night. I don't know if they had an off night or WHAT but the food was just subpar. And it took over 10 minutes for any server to even acknowledge us. The edamame dumplings (our usual favorite) were barely coated in that liquid gold sauce (see pic)- usually it's smothered on the dumplings and dippable on the plate. Maybe they started cheaping out on portions? The lobster sliders are NOT worth it- if you have to take one thing from this review. The buns were stale and the lobster was skimpy and dripping in some type of mayo. Gross. For $24 was expecting huge chunks of high quality lobster but it was finely chopped end bits. The wok lobster had an awful taste like the grill wasn't cleaned I can't explain it. The fried lobster pieces were tough and fishy tasting. Last time I got this dish I asked for it steamed- much better this way. I feel dissappointed after dining here last night, especially on what was suppose to be such a special occasion. This restaurant has been one of my family's go-tos for years and I was so excited to dine here last night for the first time since COVID. Our server was amazing and attentive, but at the same time never made us feel rushed. The different courses were spaced out perfectly. We started with our favorite cocktail, which is the blood orange martini. The flavor is perfection and it is served icy cold! Definitely a must try. We got the edamame dumplings to start. It isn't a huge portion, but the flavor is amazing. They are almost more of a ravioli texture than a traditional dumpling. Definitely recommend for vegetarians or anyone that loves veggies/edamame! Then, we got some signature sushi rolls, which are always top notch. I had the mango roll and my mom got the tea smoked salmon roll. Both were incredible! Both of which was horrible. The steak was cooked well done and we asked for medium. The manager was unprofessional schooled us on how a steak should be cooked and gave us our steak back after they took back to the kitchen. This has always been one of my go-to places when in the area - and was very surprised to see how busy it was when we ate here last night (and glad things are maybe returning to 'normal' post COVID). I had to change our reservation a few times (thank you open table) and we were seated right away when we arrived. We ordered the crunchy vegetable tempura roll as a starter along with a zen martini and a mule. The martini was well balanced and not sweet at all (the sake and lime really mellowed the pear vodka and St. Germain). The roll was delicious (who doesn't love tempura veggies?) Main course I ordered the grilled green tea salmon - it was cooked perfectly, and the faro salad with feta cheese, mushrooms and cashews gave it a delicious Asian flair. Hubby started with the whiskey blueberry drink, a diet coke for me. Then we shared the dim sum bento for 2 which was fantastic - the edamame dumplings were the star of the show here. Entrees: 1. Smoke venison filet with beet & goat cheese dumplings, beurre blanc sauce 2. Sushi bento for 2 Both were fantastic but the venison dish stole the entire show. Valet is required but it's free. They are also quick to get your car too! Ambiance- We ate outside in the back and it was pleasant. You could hear the music from inside but it wasn't too loud when outside. The road noise was pretty loud. They had tiki torches going and we didn't have any issues with bugs. A friendly voice answered the phone at Nectar. They were Happy to take my order and deliver my food for me and my family. In the throes of the coronavirus crisis I was thrilled to order some super delicious over-the-top comfort food. I highly highly recommend they're delicious salad! Wonderful pork buns, fantastic wild boar lo mein etc. etc. etc. You cannot go wrong with ordering nectar. I was shocked when they delivered within 40 minutes of my order. I am so grateful to have had this wonderful meal! This meal was "life-sustaining"for us because felt like Community. It tasted like a "five star" restaurant in my home. My co-workers and I went here for dinner last night. The ambiance reminds me of going to a nice restaurant in Chicago. The waiters and waitresses that helped our table were super friendly and helpful. We started off with a few appetizers: Chicken curry dumplings- these were small, bite size dumplings that had peanuts sprinkled on top. They came with a spicy peanut sauce. Pork dumplings- had a half of a bao that was folder over the slice of pork. It had a really nice, spicy sauce on the meat. Edamame dumplings-normal size dumpling that was steamed and was filled with edamame and mushrooms. The sauce over the dumplings was very good and not spicy. Tuna tartare- had tuna, baby greens, and avocado that were shaped in a circle. Drink: Jalapeno infused pineapple tequila- it was citrusy with a hint of spice. It was not overly sweet and was pretty good. I am not a tequila girl, but I really enjoyed it. Entree: Pan Seared Seabass- was cooked perfectly and had a crispy skin. The fish laid on a bed of asparagus and mushrooms. It had a really good truffle sauce. Dessert: Deconstructed S'mores- it had a graham cracker that had a scoop of light banana ice cream on top. Around the cracker were small dollops of chocolate and three banana marshmallows that were toasted and tasted like homemade marshmallows. There was also a smooth and silky chocolate peanut butter creme brulee. Overall, I had an amazing time and the food was so good! read more

Another day, another trip to the suburbs of Philly to try a different sushi place located in Berwyn, PA. The dishes were lobster sliders, oysters, lobster fried rice and a sushi assortment and as always uni. Food was great, lobster was great, and the drinks were amazing. Soo. I'm sorry to all you main liners but this place is only worth the aesthetic and the drinks. And their bao buns are decent. I wanted to take my gf somewhere nice, because well, she's nice. And also smokin. Why wouldn't I want to show her off? She loved the decor. Loved her drink. And we very much enjoyed the buns (though slightly too fatty). But that's about where it ends. Their fried rice has NO flavor. She's a bit picky so if we go Asian I always make sure there's fried rice. The curried fried chicken on top was tasty and unique, but couldn't save the dish. Then I got the chicken and shrimp wok dish. Definitely too much fish sauce. Not a lot of flavor. And an added present.. Yes I found a long hair. Was not mine, as it was straight, and mine is v curly. Shot happens. I get it, but I can't continue eating after that. So I informed them. They, however, did not go about the situation as one should. So first a woman came up told us none of the chefs have long hair so it could've been them, but she would still take it off the bill. So I said OK, I don't know what you're inferring but whatever. Then our waiter comes back tells us all the chefs have short gray hair, it couldn't have been them. They think it's your hair * point to my girlfriend.* So now this is when I get pissed. First off. I didn't make a scene. I didn't demand a free meal. Why on earth would you everrr go and blame the customer?! She also hates seafood and wanted nothing to do with my dish. Such a let down as the place is truly gorgeous. Anyways, that left a terrible taste in my mouth. We won't be back. Should've hit up the byob Thai after all. read more
