Have been here many times over last few years since they opened (original first review is below) and converted many new devotees since. M&M NEVER disappoints. My wife and I had a delicious NY Eve Dim Sum dinner last night and as usual they hit on all cylinders...including some nice updated decor since last visit. I was a little concerned pulling into parking lot as there was a brand new Sushi/Japanese storefront right next door, and thought perhaps someone decided to take up the challenge of competition....only to be thrilled to learn that M&M ownership actually expanded next door to add even more amazing dinner options!!!! Can't wait to get back and try that experience. This is by far the best Chinese and now Japanese food I have had in this area in an extremely friendly but relatively low key setting....although the new Sushi setting is definitely a bit more upscale in terms of decor. The Owner is still genuinely one of the nicest and most hospitable restauranteurs I have ever met!!! We will be back....again and again...if you haven't tried it yet you are absolutely missing out on a local gem...and dare I say well worth a car ride if you're not local to Paoli/Wayne/Berwyn/Devon/Strafford/Malvern etc area! read more

Visited with wifey and had incredible dumpling soup - that could have been a meal by itself. It's for two and the dumplings have plenty of meat and shrimp. Lots of bok choy and the broth tasty. We added soup dumplings (yeah not dumpling soup) and shrimp Shumai and the lamb cumin skewers. So much good. All flavorful. The service was very helpful. Will be back to try more. read more

Authentic dim sum that you don't need to Philly for. They serve dim sum all day but there won't be ladies rolling out the carts it's all a Le carte. Prices are a bit high especially the rice rolls but the quality is good. read more

Grabbed early seating on a Thursday evening... so glad my wife and I stopped here instead of just another Americanized Chinese restaurant. This was recommended to me recently. The person who recommended it might be the smartest person ever. I ordered pork shumai, pan-seared chef dumplings, and lobster and shrimp steamed dumplings. I ate the shumai first and fell in love. They're huge first of all and full of meat. Honestly I could have just ordered these and been content. The chef dumplings were equally as good. I devoured the two orders and then realized my mistake. I saved the lobster dumplings for last and I was damn near full. I managed to eat one and, surprise, it was phenomenal. Mental note: eat the most expensive dumplings first. Or, next time load up on shumai. Everything was wonderful but that shumai will be what brings me back. read more

Wowza, I didn't expect to have such good dim sum in this area. I felt like I was transported to the motherland! My parents and I came for lunch to M&M the day after Christmas; the restaurant was packed. We indulged in lotus root stir fry, crispy tofu, tofu stew, sesame pancake with red bean paste, and scallop dumpling. The second I tried the second dish that came out, I knew this restaurant was serious about their craft: The crispy tofu was perfectly crispy yet soft as a cloud on the inside. A masterful skill according to my mother. All of the dishes were great and have that umami flavor I've sought after. The food came out in a timely manner; the restaurant was bustling with energy on a brisk afternoon. The employees don't speak English well; a sign the food is about to buss. My husband and I are huge fans of M&M! Best dim sum we've had and we drive all the way from Manayunk to get it. The staff is so nice and always greet us. We get a different assortment of dim sum whenever we visit but some favorites are the Peking duck sandwiches, soup dumplings, shrimp shumai, scallion pancakes (they are SO crispy), and the lotus wrapped sticky rice. We're also obsessed with the Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce and inhale the entire plate every time. read more

Use to go here for dim sum but it wasn't the best. I think this is the last time I will visit as the food tasted bland. We also ordered wonton noodle soup and that had NO taste whatsoever. Some of the dim sum was lacking flavor too. It's expensive and not worth the money. There are other places around so will go elsewhere. read more

We went here again recently for dim sum and were not disappointed. We over ordered so we ended up taking some home. The dumplings were delicious, the bao large and fluffy, and the noodles delightfully spicy. Shrimp shumai were larger than most with nice chunks of shrimp and the salt and pepper squid was crispy and tender. Skip the noodle wrap and the boba as they were ok but you can get better elsewhere. read more

Made a reservation for Lunar New Year, place filled up by the time it hit 12:30 with a line of people waiting for a table. Jasmine Tea was floral and flavorful. Our favorite dishes were the soup dumplings, snow pea leaves ($20 but worth it), crispy sesame balls with bean paste, duck bao. Fast and super tasty. Shrimp dumplings were light and glassy, chicken dumplings had a good amount of white pepper flavor, they were just "ok" compared to our top four. Took off a star because got turnip cake and wonton w noodles, bought for the auspiciousness of the day, weren't great and wouldn't do them again. Turnip cake was a bit mushy for my taste and wonton soup had no flavor (though the wontons were good and tasty). Will have to come back to try some of their traditional large format dishes! read more

This is probably the most authentic and best dim sum place in Montgomery county in PA. Most of the food is close to what you would find in Chinatown, probably about 70% of it...customer service is great, food is decent, and ambience is average. They upgraded the seats and tables so thats been helpful. We are regulars and would have to say that as much as we enjoy the food, its way over priced. A dim sum dish can run between $8-12, when we go to Philly its about $4. It definitely adds up quickly. Economy is tough so we have to curb some spending, and it will be a while before we come back here. I guess that's to be expected in main line. Either way, great place for dim sum and authentic chinese food if you don't mind the prices. read more

The dim sum is not really Hong Kong style. Many of them have the same filling, ground pork. Only the wrappers and appearance are different. It is a bit disappointing. I also have dinner in this restaurant. The food is fine. read more

Great local restaurant! I'm glad I don't have to go into the city to find good dim sum anymore. Among the Cantonese style dim sum dishes, I loved the crystal shrimp dumplings and radish cakes the best! Bur the real MVP (custom ordered) dish was the Peking duck. The steamed flounder was a close runner up. Everything was served steaming hot and delicious! The restaurant owners were very pleasant and accommodating. We reserved the side room for a bigger dinner party, taking over two large tables. Our party enjoyed a long overdue reunion here. It's been 2 years since I first came to this place for a quick take out of roast duck and roast pork and I was disappointed at them. I want to give this place another try as it was lunar new year and I didn't want to drive down to Chinatown. I only came here for dim sum really but also ordered a main entree noodle dish that was written on the menu by the waiter but never came, which was fine because I had many dish out and we were all full. There was also 2 item I order that did not come out, but I did get the correct check. This place is probably run by people from Hong Kong, they play Cantonese music, speak Cantonese. If someone isn't getting the service they expect it's probably a cultural experience, the place looks fine but I am there for food not the look. I ordered a lot of stuff as you can see from the photo, scallion pancake is crispy and good, the bean curd skin roll is full of flavor, crispy fried dumplings is good and it was my wife first time trying it and she loved it. Some of those food are not as hot it's probably I went there late. The stick rice lotus leaf is fine but I had better, mango pudding was my daughter flavorite. The sesame ball with red bean paste used too little red bean paste, the Peking duck sandwich is good, but there was a piece of meat that I bite into it that was attached to a small piece of bone, I am used to eat food with bone so if this happen to someone they will complain. Egg tart was just ok, the shrimp ball is ok because I had better one in Chinatown. The dumpling was also ok. I haven't tried the chicken feet or other usual HK dim sum so maybe next time, would I go back? Yes only for the one dim sum that I know we like. read more

Recently did a marquee birthday dinner with a party of 14+. The staff was very accommodating and Michael, the owner (I think) made sure we had a good time. Between copious amounts of delicious dim-sum, dumplings and other Chinese dishes, we got out of there for a very reasonable price and had tons of leftovers. They let us order a'la carte for everything, instead of trying to charge us a per-person fee. Its BYO, so we were able to drink whatever we brought for much better quality drinks. Everyone had a great time and no one walked away hungry if me and Michael could help it, since he threw in a couple extras. On a side note, I frequently go there for the $6-Pork Shumai Dimsum (with shrimp) which gives you 4 very large pieces as a nice tasty snack/lite-meal. Ask for some side dumpling sauce (theirs is very good, but not included for shumai typically). read more

I'm very picky about my dim sum having grown up with great Chinese options & Chinatown not too far away, and I have only ever had great experiences at M And M! The food is delicious & hits the spot every time. Definitely go with a big group to maximize trying as many things as possible. Hot tea is served right away while you peruse the menu. We got several dumplings (the pork soup dumplings were packed with flavor & the chicken dumplings were surprisingly spicy), scallion pancake (perfect for dipping in leftover sauces), spare ribs with garlic sauce (flavorful albeit fatty), Peking duck buns (always a hit), snow pea leaves in garlic (good to have a veggie), salt & pepper squid (the crispy shallots were my favorite part of this dish), chicken & ginger congee (comfort food to the max), & spicy cucumbers (crazy good flavor without being very spicy). The cucumbers were my surprising favorite part of the meal! My only complaint is that I wish the table had a lazy susan to more easily share all the dishes, but that's so minor compared to the quality of the food. We've been here to this restaurant twice for their dim sum and it's probably the best dim sum you'll get outside of Chinatown. The food is ordered off a menu (not a cart style), which is the normal these days post-COVID. The quality of the dim sum offerings were pretty good and have the typical offerings you'd expect - pork shiu mai, har gow, bbq pork bun, shrimp wrapped in rice noodles, egg tarts, etc. The dishes that aren't dim sum, such as some of the stir-fried vegetables or seafood options, are also worth ordering. Out of my group of 6 people that came, and we ordered a lot of food, it ended up being $27 per person after tax and tip. Quick reasonable for what we got for sure. The location also has a parking lot and is much more convenient than having to park in Chinatown. Overall, this is a place I've bookmarked for dim sum. read more

Authentic dim sum spot I'd been eyeing up for awhile. Owner says they've been open about 9 months. Went here for lunch and upon walking in seemed very authentic with a dim sum display cart. Ended up getting 20 total pieces of dim sum of various items which was a bit too much for two people, although delicious. The sesame buns stole the show: hot, warm and fresh. This placed use to be a hot pot restaurant. You can still see the concert belt for the old restaurant concept. Still the old tables as well. The food is decent but the sauces are slightly off in taste. They taste fine but they are not what I expect. For instance the sauce of turnip cakes is sweet but not salty. And the sauce for the dough stick in rice rolls is not very sweet. They brought out a spicy dipping sauce for the scallion pancakes instead of the usual vinegar and soy sauce. But I will say their chili dipping sauce for the scallion pancakes was actually pretty good so maybe I should be more accepting of non traditional dim sum sauces. Cash discount. I'm glad to see a dim sum place on the main line. It beats driving into Philly. read more

The dim sum was just ok, dependent on what we ordered. The shrimp and rice noodle was excellent, and the spicy egg fried rice was also good, but pretty greasy. The other stuff was not very good. The scallion pancakes were just drenched in grease, the spring rolls were over-fried and very mushy inside, the sticky rice was pretty good but the Chinese sausage tasted gamy as if it was in the freezer too long. The biggest problem, and what upset me the most was The pork soup dumplings. When they came out, all the soup had come out of them and was under the steamer actually on the table. The waiter told us we had not eaten them properly with a spoon and that's why. When I told him that we eat soup dumplings all the time, and know how to eat them properly, and that's the way they came, he then told us that the kitchen had over steamed them. That made sense, because they were also overcooked. He then turned around and walked away, without offering to replace them or take them off the bill or anything. That is absolutely outrageous for a waiter to do. I have dined in thousands of restaurants, and I've never had a waiter tell me what the kitchen did wrong and then turn around and walk away. When he came back and asked if we wanted a box, I told. him no and that they were basically inedible, and he still said nothing. Just brought the check. The owner seems to care, and is a nice enough guy, but this was not a great experience. There are many other dim sum and soup dumpling restaurants in the area, I'm not sure I would return here for dim sum anyway. I might possibly give it another shot for entrées. read more
