Loved the marinade on it, though wasn't clear it would be medallions. It was slightly fatty & I am very picky about that but I ate the whole entire plate! Wife and I wanted a quick bite to eat between the rains. Decided to sit at the bar. Place was crowded but not overly loud. Bartender took our drink orders right away and a few minutes later we had great goose martini. Manager stopped by to introduce themself and wax extremely nice. Came here for dinner with my husband after wanting to try it for years. This is great spot for a date night and has a really nice ambience. We got cocktails that were on a special which were great. I wanted everything on the menu so we just ordered a bunch of stuff to share. We had: Chay roll: my fav roll and loved the crunch rock shrimp: amazing Kobe beef hot rock: this was our favorite. You cook your own Kobe beef on a hot slab. This was a fun experience and tasted amazing Crab fried rice: very good, def on the spicier side though. Poseidon roll: this was also good but I liked the chay roll better. Overall, all of the food was great. This was probably too much food for two people though. I dined here for the first time in several years recently and the food was even better than I remember. I started with the Kobe beef hot rock and the crab spring rolls. The Kobe beef was delicious, tender, and a fun interactive way to begin the meal. The crab spring rolls were jam packed with crab and featured no filler meat. The crab was melt in your mouth tender with just the right hint of seasoning. For the entree I had basil crab fried rice. I love this dish for the spice and flavor. It's a standout. I had two lychee lemon drop martinis. I believe this one is seasonal and it's a must try. I finished all of this off with the perfect creme brûlée. Service was fast, friendly, and the restaurant was comfortable and quiet on a random Wednesday night. I'll definitely need to start returning more frequently. read more

I just went there by myself, arriving at 2:35 knowing they served lunch until 3, and I wanted something quick. When I got there, a woman said she was sorry that they weren't seating anyone past 2:30. I said that their website said 3:00 PM. She explained that was when the kitchen stopped receiving orders, but there were no seatings after 2:30. Despite it being only 2:35, and just me versus a group, she refused to seat me. I live within literally walking distance (I've done it) of the restaurant and my family has been going there since they opened 20+ years ago and typically spends between $1,000 and $2,000 a year there. But, because I was 5 minutes late, I had to leave. If this is their new attitude, I need to revisit ever going there again. read more

I've been to Teikoku several times over several years and have always had a good experience and good food. Tonight was a different story. my husband and I stopped in for happy hour (our first time) and were basically turned away. Per their website, happy hour begins at 4:30. We arrived At 4:38pm and were told it was full. We walked to the bar and saw several empty tables around the bar. When we asked the hostess, she told us that happy hour is only at the bar and 2 designated tables. A real bait and switch. There was plenty of available seating in the bar area but we were told that on 2 tables were for happy hour and they were occupied. Mind you it was 4:38pm. Apparently happy hour is only for a select few. We drove 2 miles down the road to Ruth's Chris for an inviting and enjoyable happy hour. All the tables in the bar/lounge area are included. read more

A friend and I had dinner there and it was excellent. We started with the Peking Duck and Lobster tempura fondue. The tempura came on skewers with lobster, shrimp, broccoli, carrot, sweet potato, zucchini and a dip of melted gorgonzola. The Peking duck came with steamed tortillas and had hoisin, scallions, cucumbers and plum sauce. The duck was quite delicious. The tempura was good and the dip was good as well. For dinner we both had the Hoban yak seafood that included lobster tail, scallops, shrimp and white fish with season vegetables and a ginger garlic truffle butter soy sauce. It was excellent. The waitress was quite exceptional, noticing that the table was uneven and placing something to level it as well as cleaning the table in between dishes. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes. We both really enjoyed the meal and would love to go back again. read more

I live out of the way so it's been over three years since I last came! Highly recommend their Sunday brunch.The space was as beautiful and spacious as I had remembered, it exudes a zen charm as well. This visit I came with my friends and their toddler. They didn't charge the toddler for food, which was nice. The brunch has artful pastries and small bites, a good mix of Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Western so it's a great place to take someone who is a picky eater! I'm not a picky eater but I am vegetarian but still took a plate full of everything. My favorites was the chocolate mousse, sweet potato rolls, and hash browns. There are pastries, dumplings, fried oysters, shrimp cocktail, and other apps. The standout was the green tea fried dumpling! There was a great variety of sushi and crudo. Spicy tuna, veggie roll with crab salad, hamachi scallion, albacore tuna with jalapeño to name a few. All were fresh and very tasty. The chef was behind the counter and was sharing what each dish was. There was also soup and hot entrees like pad Thai, fried rice, filet, fried grouper, and salmon. There were traditional breakfast items but no need to try them honestly with the wide variety of awesome offerings! Sampled the thai tea shooter and yuzu tart for dessert - they were also great. If you want pancake and waffle you can get that, but if you want different sushi rolls, some gyoza, maybe a fried oyster, some shrimp, some shrimp lollipops, steak, salmon, veggies, and more and more, this is the place. This is a well lit & spacious Japanese Thai restaurant located in Newtown Square. It has both table seating as well as sushi bar seating which is hard to find nowadays. Sadly since Covid many establishments have done away with bar/counter seating. The staff was friendly & attentive while not being overbearing which is always a plus. The amount of menu offerings is large & they seemed happy to try to accommodate customer wishes. The food itself was flavorful & only slight complaint is there were not many green vegetable side options to add to your dish. This place is nicely decorated and was very busy when I stopped in around dinner time to pick up takeout. The food was just ok, nothing special. My husband ordered chili glazed wings and was very disappointed to find that they just gave him plain wings and a side of some kind of sauce. The sushi was very basic as well. The best thing we got was the spring rolls. The basil fried rice was spicy but lacked flavor. Every time I passed by the restaurant, I always wanted to go inside. The wooden building has very traditional Japanese aesthetics, but the entire experience inside felt very fusion. Dishes were inspired by many different Asian cuisines: Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, French, etc. The overall vibe was very intimate - the front room is where the bar was, but we were seated off to the side room where it was a little quieter and less busy. We ordered a number of appetizers and entrees to share, and ended up with more than we could finish. Our server was very attentive, and my hot sake arrived very promptly. The food came out hot and delicious, and we didn't have to wait too long. However, the vegetables and mushrooms in the teriyaki duck breast entree was very salty. Paired with the rice, it wasn't so bad. But you may want to order something else if you're watching your sodium intake. Also, if you want a bento-style, it is only available for lunch. You will not be able to request a bento for dinner unfortunately. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, and we had leftovers the next day. Thumbs up. read more

I went with a group of 4 and had a great experience. The restaurant is quite nice and there are several break off rooms and outdoor seating for private parties. We booked a reservation through their website and were seated promptly. It's probably a good thing we made a reservation because it was graduation week and the place filled up with parties soon after we were seated. After passing this place for more than 15 years, and always promising ourselves we would try it out (it's just so out of the way for us), we finally tried it last weekend. It was well worth it, we will be back. Everything was delicious: Steamed gyoza, spicy salmon & tuna sushi (very good but too cold), chicken red curry, spicy noodles, fried ice cream. Calling out the Japanese sweet potato fries, I'm coming back just for that. Not your regular sweet potato, that glaze is out of this world. The menu features heavily to sushi and sashimi but has a variety of dishes ranging from filet to teriyaki. The Kobe beef hot rock is an at least once experience. The Hot and Sour soup is rich, full bodied and loaded with mushrooms and bamboo shoots. The Chefs sampler of sushi and sashimi is delightful with a solid variety from bronzino to yellow fin to salmon. Bell's 2 hearted on tap is a plus. read more

My family had a big Christmas party at Teikoku. With eleven people and a bill of over $700, I was just wondering why they insisted upon charging us a $20 fee before agreeing to let us eat a small 7" gluten-free birthday cake brought for one of the kids who cannot eat wheat gluten? No cake at all is available on their menu and nowhere does it say anything about a cake charge. If gluten-free cake was on the menu, I'd have ordered one but the manager insisted we pay before the cake could be served. I have no problem understanding a corking charge for wine or even a cutting & serving charge but $20 bucks to let us eat a cake that we brought because they had no cake of their own? The irony is if I had called first and asked if I could bring the cake before making the reservation, I'll bet they would have given me the OK instead of losing the reservation. I wonder if this is customary at the entire group of WIN restaurants. P.S. the food, service and ambience were all very good! I got takeout but boy was I pleasantly surprised by how delicious the sushi at Teikoku was! This place was BUSY on a Tuesday night, but the food for pickup was on time. I thoroughly enjoyed my bluefin tuna lover sushi and the spicy noodles. Both had excellent flavors and you could tell everything was fresh. It doesn't look like much from the outside, I won't lie, but the inside is beautiful and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals as I walked in to grab my takeout order. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for some time now after driving past several times and remembering it as the old Bobby's seafood, which was wonderful but burnt down many years ago. Finally stopped in last night. Here is our take: Pros: food delish! I had the scallops, which were perfectly prepared and cooked. BF had the hot stone Kobe beef for appetizer, followed by the Chilean Seabass. Also perfectly prepared. Kiddo ordered tuna sushi. Just a little warning here: they actually put wasabi between the rice and the fish, supposedly to offset the oil in the fish. I've never seen a restaurant do this before and not everyone likes wasabi, so if you don't like it, make sure you request NO wasabi. Cons: Considering that there were not many people in the dining room, or at the bar, service was considerably slow. And the worst part... The bathrooms were filthy! Trash cans overflowing in both, stuff all over the floors. No excuse at all for this. Even most fast food restaurants require their staff to check the bathrooms every hour on the hour. An upscale restaurant like this should have impeccable restrooms. That was a huge turn off. Makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like? (I shudder to think about that!) I think It's kinda like having a really shiny clean car on the outside, yet having the inside of the car could completely trashed with garbage and stains. Why? Just why??? read more

Their Sunday brunch is everything I could've hoped for and more. We got here at 11:30 when the restaurant opened and there were people waiting outside to get in. This was a good sign. We made reservations, but if you get there at the beginning of the brunch buffet (11:30 - noon), you probably don't need them. To kick off brunch, you get a complimentary mimosa. This is the perfect way to start off a brunch. The food was served "buffet" style, but don't let the term "buffet" fool you. This was a smaller setup, and very clean and laid out nicely. They had finger foods, sushi, sweet and sour soup, dumplings, and hot Asian dishes (cashew chicken, pad Thai, beef and broccoli). They also had waffles, bacon and other standard breakfast/brunch items. There was fresh fruit and desserts as well. Every single item we had was delicious. This is the type of buffet where the food is good that you can't stop eating... Going into this, I have to admit I didn't expect much of the sushi on the buffet. I was wrong to make this assumption. The sushi was extremely fresh and was the best quality sushi I've had in this area. The variety of rolls was great, too. Tempura rolls, standard sushi rolls, veggie rolls, and sashimi. For the variety of the buffet and quality of food, the price was reasonable. We will definitely be incorporating this place into our regular rotation of restaurants, and I can't wait to go back. One note: during Sunday brunch, I don't think it is possible to order off of a regular menu (at least that option wasn't offered to us) - so be aware of this going in. read more

Made a Friday night reservation for 2 and we were happily seated outside on a beautiful night. Lobster tempura & fondue: delicious. Skewers of lobster, shrimp, sweet potato, broccoli, and zucchini. My only gripe was that we could not eat either shrimp skewer as both were entirely translucent inside, indicating it was indeed raw. Did not realize this was going to be a WHOLE ribeye steak. The sauce was mild and flavorful. Steak served perfectly rare. My favorite dish of the night. Enough leftovers for two lunches! Teriyaki duck breast: absolutely delicious and quite confusing at the same time. Did not get a hint of teriyaki. The duck breast was cooked medium and extremely tender. Served over mushrooms and spinach. The sauce was savory, almost like a marsala or madeira sauce. It was fantastic regardless The kitchen sent out a delectable vanilla panna cotta to celebrate our anniversary. Ugh so good! There was one gentleman serving the outside area and every table was full.
