Nice gem a few miles outside the city limits but worth a gander. The grounds are beautiful and generally easy to negotiate but, if you have a wheelchair etc., check for other arboretums that are specifically accessible. Opening day was crowded but everything flowed, mask wearing and social distancing was in full effect. From the entrance to the body of water everywhere was well maintained and a beautiful sight. The staff was informative and helpful. I was given an overview of things and a stamp in my American Garden Capital Passport. This book lists details about gardens in the tri-state area. Everything about the Jenkins Arboretum is inviting and peaceful!

A beautiful hidden gem in Wayne. The employees in the info center are kind and provided great education on the history of the garden. The entirety of the trails take a fairly quick amount of time to go through. I believe it is under 2 miles to walk the entire thing. I would love to go again when more flowers are blooming!

This is a great little find right in the heart of the Main Line! Free to enter, it's a cute area filled with beautiful plant life of different sorts, as well as a charming pond in the middle. We stopped by on a Saturday morning and enjoyed our time walking through the different trails and taking pictures of all the trees and flowers! For COVID-19, seems they've done a few things to keep everyone safe - there are signs everywhere reminding people to maintain distance and wear masks, and the main building is closed, with the plant shop set up outside. We would totally come back to check it out again, especially to see it in different seasons!

I like that this arboretum is very well manicured, and there's many intersecting walking paths you can take. It's clear that they put a lot of effort at maintaining and financing into this location, and everything seems renovated and new. They have a decent variety of trees and plants, and while there are many duplicates I feel like they laid out the walking paths and different sections in a nice way. It's not a huge place so you probably won't spend all day there, but it's a very nice place to visit and take a walk.

Finally tried them for veggies the other day and we were really pleased. We normally get non-organic produce from Gentile's in Newtown Sq if/when it's decent quality (prices can't be beat, but quality is sometimes lacking), or we trek to Wolff's in Media for better quality (which you pay for there). What made the Garden Shoppe helpful to us is its convenience to the nearby Acme and Rite Aid we use, and the quality we got for the price. Quality can sometimes be on par with Wolff's, but with lower prices than Wolff's. They did not have the selection of the Wolff's or other larger produce stores, so expect what one might find at a roadside produce stand, not a full market. But for basics, they filled our need very well. One complaint was the corn. Places like Wolff's will normally let you husk it there, and if you get a half-brown dud, you don't end up paying for it. Wolff's has a lot of pride and does not want to sell you something like that. At the Garden Shoppe there is no means of husking, and we have ended up with 40% of our ears in really bad shape (half the kernels missing, worms, rot, etc.), so if they could set up a husking station it would be a great relief. For the other items, though, we're glad we finally tried them, and are sorry we didn't do it years sooner.

D & M was the middle bidder on the job and I am very glad we engaged them. They provided superior quality plants, often a bit larger than specified by the landscape architect. When John Fridy came to meet in person and take a look at my front beds, I explained that I envisioned a pollinator destination that would grow into a lush garden in the years to come. John understood exactly what I was looking for, made an individualized plan, and returned - in person - with pictures of the plants he envisioned throughout my front walk. These included plants that would provide unique interest in the design process, were deer resistant, and would ensure something was in bloom throughout the spring and summer seasons. A few weeks later, he and his team of polite, careful, and professional individuals removed the existing shrubs and placed new shrubs and perennials, using healthy soils and mulch to ensure our new plants would thrive. The butterflies and birds are now all over my front yard! John is going to return in late fall to plant bulbs and is also coming back in the spring to make sure everything is growing beautifully and incorporate annuals. I could not be happier that I reached out to John and the Naturescapes team when I did. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. Call John and the Naturescapes team!
