Rosalie has been my go-to for always wonderful, always absolutely delicious, special Italian food. I highly recommend it to bring out-of-town guest to this location as well. Order a bunch of things and watch everyone swoon. The food is rustic, but also at the same time can be dainty and super flavorful. I love the atmosphere in this restaurant, and I've always enjoyed every bite I've had, whether it's the Shakshuka or Casoncelli with veal, golden raisin, amaretti, parmesan (my favorite go to) see many pictures. Occasionally, you can find chicken liver pâté on the menu, and I've always enjoyed their fish. The Branzino is spectacular, but don't miss out on the Crudo in the antipasto section. Last time I was there, I tried the focaccia bread with ricotta--don't miss it! The food is New York-worthy, absolutely delicious. A few other standouts over my past experiences have been.- yummy appetizer size pizza, delicious meat, mushroom, gnocchi, handmade, pastas, wonderful simple salads, and the crispy potatoes are delicious as well. I've also tried the Arancini, which is the best I've ever had. OK, I'm officially gushing, but this is how I feel about this restaurant! read more

We had dinner on Wednesday June 24, 2026. My son and I we're early but there were still a number of diners. The dining room is beautiful and very comfortable. Our server Angela greeted us right away. She introduced herself and asked if we were celebrating. She was very sweet and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. We had the arancini (3) which is amazing! and the pesce cruda, yellow tale with lemon, radish snap peas and sesame. We then had Casoncelli a veal stuffed pasta with golden raisins, amaretti and parmigiana as well as Siscillian Meatballs (3) served in escarole broda, crumble pine nuts and parmigiana. We had no room but still got dessert! The pistachio cream cake with cherry jubilee and a beautiful flor de latte ! we also had the espresso ice cream cake with toffee and salted caramel. I can not put into words how delicious and beautiful everything was! it was art on a plate. We wanted to compliment the chef and he came out to thank us!!! What a talented and nice man. Thank you Angela for superb service and making our experience so memorable and to Jesse for the absolutely incredible food and his down to earth spirit! We highly recommend and will come back!!! Hopefully we can have Angela again! read more

Rosalie - Pistachio Cream cake! sorry we ate everything else before we thought to take pictures! - Italian Near Me - Wayne, Pennsylvania

We love Rosalie! I grew up right on Louella Court so I like coming here because it really makes me feel like I'm truly at home. My grandmother was a waitress at the Wayne hotel many decades ago so this is just a really special spot. The pasta is what we always go for to be honest so we really haven't tried much on the menu, but it is very good and I would recommend this place for any happy hour or dinner. You can't beat the interior design and the vibe of the inside of the old Wayne hotel either it is so cute and cozy. The outdoor deck is also a wonderful place to sit even in the middle of the winter. They have really really good heaters out there. read more

Pretty average for a place that is supposed to be Italian cuisine. Buratta didn't really feel like a buratta. And the pizza was less Italian and more American. Would not recommend. read more

This review is basically for the gnocchi, which came highly recommended by a friend. The gnocchi is immersed in a broth of Kennett Square mushrooms. There are also smaller pieces of possible gnocchi in the broth. The gnocchi are the buttery soft kind that literally melt in your mouth. It easily compares to the best gnocchi dishes I've had in downtown Philly. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish and would definitely come here again just for this dish. The pistachio cream cake was great, too. I actually ordered just the pistachio gelati but was given this instead. It was excellent. read more

I'll start with the good- The ambiance was really nice. The decor is cozy and fun to look at. We sat inside, but the porch area looked pretty cool too. However the actual experience was meh. I will not be going back. We had a 10am reservation and arrived right on time. There were maybe 1-2 tables seated already, but otherwise the place seemed empty- I go to the hostess stand and nobody greeted me because they were chatting. I felt a bit awkward standing there. I told her my name and reservation, and she made me wait until the other person arrived after I said they parked and were walking in. Not the end of the world and it's typical for restaurants to do that, but also it was entirely empty. You could just seat me and trust that I'm not lying? That' whole interaction made me feel weird and kind of bad and self conscious for no reason. The hostess who seated us was very nice though. I will note that I wouldn't have had a second thought about this entire interaction if the rest of the dining experience had been good. We ordered our food probably around 10:10am at the latest, and it didn't arrive until around 10:45. I repeat- there were barely any people in there. There was no reason for it to take so long. The server didn't check on us the entire time, and around 10:40 he saw us and said "oh! You haven't gotten your food yet?" And went to check on it. He came back with the food. The food: it was fine overall. The waffle was a bit dry, and they put the maple syrup on for you so we couldn't add as much as we would have liked. I also felt like $15 was a bit steep for what we got, and it was nothing to write home about. The Bartlett pear topping- I'm not sure if they were canned or if they had been sautéed/cooked on site, but the end result was canned pear texture and flavor. The white blobs were not on the menu and I have no idea what they were- whipped crème fresh? Mascarpone? No clue. I didn't love them- too sour for the dish, and whipped cream would have been better. The egg in the hole was delicious- the side of smoked salmon was a really nice and unique touch. I only ever see salmon with bagel and cream cheese, and I plan to recreate this dish at home. The egg was cooked perfectly. My mom's coffee had coffee grounds floating in it. I didn't take a picture. Our server was friendly and polite. There's also a credit card fee they don't warn you about. I'd have paid cash if we had known. read more

I would definitely check out the menu beforehand. I consider Italian to be pretty safe for everyone but the menu seemed limited in my opinion (not in a bad way! Just missing some staples) There were plenty of people working so everything was done quickly! I thought my pizza was good and did not hurt my stomach in the slightest (like most pizzas do these days). My mom didn't love her chicken parm but I thought it was pretty good! The decor is very pretty! read more

Rosalie is one of my favorite places to visit. I absolutely love it, and it never disappoints. The dining room is warm and dimly lit, with velvet seating, cozy booths, and soft pillows that make you instantly relax. It's the kind of space that makes you want to settle in and keep enjoying just one more bite. This visit, I had the veal stuffed homemade pasta and the Sicilian meatballs both rich, comforting, and beautifully balanced. The pasta was tender and clearly house-made, and the meatballs were perfectly seasoned in a slow-simmered sauce full of depth. The shrimp appetizer was the standout, served with a special house-made sauce and crispy pickled cucumbers for the perfect bright contrast. Truly my favorite shrimp appetizer I've ever had. Our server, Andrea, really made the experience even better. She helped us navigate the menu and offered thoughtful suggestions that we absolutely loved. Between the food, the ambiance, and the service, Rosalie always feels like comfort done right. read more

The experience was a little bizarre. Their website says "Rosalie doesn't allow reservations for 1, please just walk in". I walked in, as directed, just for a very flustered man at the front of the house to fumble with his system for a good 10 mins. Telling me there was a table, then taking it back and saying there were no tables for the night, then saying nevermind and making me a reservation for two (which I would have done if not discouraged by the website) for half an hour later. At this point I already had a very bad taste in my mouth from the level of chaos. I waited outside for my table. When I got to my table I will say my server was very nice until a strange comment came up at dessert. Once I ordered my dessert, he left and came back with two spoons, saying "I brought two spoons for us." It almost seemed implied he'd join me. I dine a lot alone, voluntarily. Most of the time it's after work and I really don't want, let alone need, company. His comment gave me anxiety as I wondered how I would politely tell this man I wanted to dine alone. When he brought the dessert he did not join me but made sure to say "I'll be back for a few bites." Maybe it was a joke but to me it was very odd and made me pretty uncomfortable. I gave three stars just for the Cacio e Pepe. It was very good. I did (without giving tmi) have a very sick stomach after the meal and the morning after so I wouldn't return just incase that was the cause. Like a said... a weird experience. read more

Fantastic Italian "comfort food", a must try. Give yourself few extra minutes to find parking, at least on a weekend.

What a delightful experience at Rosalie. It's such a cute little gem with beautiful decor inside a lovely hotel. It's a nice surprise in a small town I'd heard little of but went to for a client dinner. Our server, Yasir, was excellent. We had a party of 8 and he did such a good job basically herding cats through drinks, appetizers, and entrees. For the pastas, you can do half portions and most of us chose to get half portions of two different pastas (each person) and it was just so much to remember so he deserves a lot of praise on nailing everything. For apps, we got the watermelon salad, arancini, focaccia, and Brussels sprouts. Loved it all but especially the arancini. Sooo good. For my pasta I got the gnudi and the Casoncelli. I'm a sweet and savory kind of girl which both have since they casoncelli has the golden raisins and the gnudi has the cherries so I loved those. Also they have a great selection of mocktails - I loved mine. Would definitely return - it was a 30 min drive from Philly for the work dinner but so worth it. I want to come back and bring my bf! read more

Ensconced in the Wayne Hotel, Rosalie is yet another entry in Marty Grim's ever burgeoning stable of Fearless Restaurants. A few of his other diverse establishments include such popular eateries as Autograph Brasserie (also located in Wayne), the floating Moshulu at Philly's waterfront, Tucker's Tavern on Long Beach Island, and five White Dog Café outposts. But Rosalie, if you'll pardon the pun, seems to be a restaurant of a different color, presenting itself as a purveyor of "Italian Soul Food." This, however, is something of a misnomer. First of all, on the basis of what I've managed to glean from both the restaurant's website and other sources, the phrase "Italian Soul Food" is little more than poetic license. In other words, it's a fancy way of describing Italian comfort food. The various forms of Pizza here - Margherita, Suppressata, Potato, Quattro Formaggi - though hardly exceptional, are quite good. On the other hand, there are other items of infinitely more interest. Several of the starters, for instance... Arancini, saffron risotto balls with meat ragu & smoked mozzarella; Crudo, bigeye tuna, chili-garlic, agrodolce (sweet/sour sauce) & avocado; Sicilian Meatball; and Lioni Burrata with tomato jam & grilled ciabatta. But salads also sounded quite interesting as well. So, my dining partner and I decided to share the Mercato, a tempting combo of baby lettuces, pickled peppers, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and marinated cucumber, all enhanced with the subtle nuances of a parmesan vinaigrette. A wise choice. With regard to entrées, my dining partner was quite pleased with her Gnocchi (pictured). These are small, soft dumplings traditionally made with potatoes, flour, and eggs. The dough is formed into small ropes, cut into pieces, and then boiled in salted water until the dumplings float to the surface. Gnocchi are frequently served with a variety of sauces, including tomato, butter & sage, or various creamy concoctions. They may also be pan fried in order to provide a crispy texture. In this case, they are companioned by Kennett Square mushrooms, fontina cheese, and a generous splash of 8-year balsamic. The result proved a delightfully delicious crowd-pleaser. On the other hand, my entrée of choice, Lasagna alla Norma, has its own rather unique story. A variation on the Pasta alla Norma theme, which was originally called Pasta con le Melanzane, the term literally means "pasta with eggplant." This dish is typical of Sicilian cuisine, particularly from Catania, the second largest municipality after Palermo. It is made of penne or other pasta (in this case, lasagna) with tomato sauce combined with slices of fried eggplant and served with ricotta salata cheese and fresh basil. The dish was named in honor of Vincenzo Bellini, a native of Catania and composer of the opera Norma. Interestingly enough, the first time we both ordered this dish, it was something of a disappointment, arriving at table barely lukewarm... And not even a return trip to the kitchen was able to adequately ameliorate the situation. During my most recent encounter, however, the temperature was spot on. Dessert-wise, my dining partner and I finally decided to share the Limoncello Cheesecake Torte, lemon curd, citrus cake, vanilla meringue kisses . I find limoncello - in whatever form - simply impossible to resist. And the cheesecake torte was certainly no exception. Outlandishly rich... refreshingly tangy... totally addictive. A high point of the evening. One final word... During our several recent visits, we have always found the service to be first-rate. Young, attentive, and pleasantly personable. And the homey, comfortable ambiance is quite a plus as well. read more

Went here for to celebrate Valentine's Day with a special dinner. Immediately noticed that the place is busy, which is generally a good sign. The ambiance is clean and intimate with small LED votives and flowers on the tables. There is also a bar if you want to sit there. The food was excellent. The verde salad had a great taste. I wish some of the greenery was cut up, as some of the pieces were rather large. The service was great but felt a little rushed due to the how many people were there. The focaccia bread and spaghetti al limone that I ordered were the highlights of the meal. Enjoyed the affogato for dessert, which I'd never had before. Solid four out five stars. read more

Last night was our first visit to Rosalie. The food, atmosphere, drinks and service by a very professional young man named. Tommy were all first-rate. The smoked salmon pizza was particularly great, something we have never come across before, as was the amazing chocolate cake. If you live on Philadelphia's mainline, you've likely driven past Rosalie, located in the historic Wayne Hotel on Lancaster Avenue. Lovely ambience, an interesting menu -- not as extensive as other restaurants -- and solicitous staff. We deviated from our usual salad-then-entree dinner. My husband, who had his heart set on lamb shank, ordered the only legitimate main course amongst the three of us. My daughter and I were on the same page about trying a little of this/a little of that. That's how I'd do it again at Rosalie. Two dishes I loved: arancini, made with saffron rice, meat ragu and smoked mozzarella, is as good as NYC's Norma restaurant, my idea of the gold standard for Italian rice balls. I'm generally not much of a pizza person, but looking at Yelp photos, we ordered the Salsiccia pizza (lamb sausage, marinated squash, meyer lemon and sesame.) Somewhat puffy -- not a usual description for pizza -- and very good. Gnodi looks great, however S and I found the ricotta dumplings too doughy. We liked the accoutrements: caramelized onion, fig and hazelnut, which I used as a dip for my pizza crust. One order of the tricolore salad was ample for the three of us. I would have preferred a little less endive and more baby gem lettuce but with the buttermilk vinaigrette, candied walnuts and blue cheese, the salad was pretty darn good. If you're a lamb shank kind of person -- that wouldn't be me -- Rosalies does it right. Tender and flavorful with Greek yogurt, squash, lamb agrodolce and mint. (I had to look up "agrodolce" too! It's a sweet and sour condiment.) We ordered what they call a quartino of wine, a fancy way to say "carafe." Their bases are covered with a selection each of white, rose and red. The artisan cellar super Tuscan isn't exactly "super" but it was okay. And dessert: we shared a chocolate budino trifle (somewhat like a thick pudding) and limoncello cheesecake. The bar was hopping Friday evening. (Remember, the restaurant is attached to the hotel.) Reservations are warranted if you're there to eat, and like many restaurants, there's a 3% upcharge if you pay with a card. read more

Rosalie in Wayne is always poppin on a weekend and for good reason! Make sure to make a reservation. The food is quite delicious and flavorful, however it is definitely a bit heavy for my taste since I do not enjoy super heavy creamy food (that is just personal preference). The prosciutto was excellent and buttery and they bring it from Italy. The pasta dishes were great! I love that you can do half sizes. The gnocchi is probably the best I've had in Philly. However I did prefer the meat pasta dish we ordered. The pork was good however I was a bit thrown off by the sweetness and it was a bit too rich for me. Again -- this is just personal preference but I can see how some people would love it . The only issue we had is that we ordered the salad with dressing on the side but they still dressed it. Not a super big deal -- it was pretty busy so they must've forgotten! read more

We've been here a couple of times since my first review and it's still as good as the first time. Both appetizers, the Tuna Crudo and the Prosciutto with fried dough were delicious. We don't eat as much as before so it's great that you can get 1/2 portions of their pasta entrees. The Radiatori pasta (Short rib, pork shoulder, fennel sausage, San Marzano tomatoes) and the Kennett Square Mushroom Gnocchi were very very good. We were full so opted for a Cappuccino for dessert. Very nice atmosphere, with 3 rooms to choose from, along with a friendly and informed staff. They have a full bar with a wine by the glass option. Bottles seem to me to be priced on the high side. Be sure to check this place out and make sure you make a reservation. By 6:15 or so, on a Thursday night, the main dining room was just about full. read more

I love going to a place where the waiter is in love with the menu. Nestor took care of us tonight. It really heightened the experience to have someone going over the menu and making suggestions that they seemed genuinely excited for us to try. Honestly some of the things we would've never chosen for ourselves and they turned out to be the best. It was also my wife's birthday so we were given a glass of champagne for her and ginger ale for me. Such a nice gesture. For instance the prosciutto with the horseradish kind of scared us, but the horse radish was so subtle. It came with something similar to an Asian crispy noodle. There was a crispy pork dish with pineapples that was absolutely delicious. Fritti I think was the dish. Nestor explained to us how it's made and why it's so good. The roasted beets were delicious. The Burrata salad was so good. It was a very different mix of tastes that would make no sense if described separately but spectacular when combined. Like Captain Planet. For my main dish Casoncelli is what was suggested to me. It was fantastic. I also got the crispy potatoes. They were perfectly crispy and good but I don't recommend wasting space on them. The cannoli cheese cake was amazing. We were bursting at the seams after all this food. Portions are perfect. We are already planning to return for brunch. read more

Ordered risotto pescatore. Very disappointing. Four cold mussels atop rice grains that were not separated, just one gloppy blob. Oh, I forgot, the other seafood mentioned on menu description were "cut up in small pieces and added to the rice." "Why?" I asked the waiter and subsequently, the manager who later came over. No one could answer this simple question. I guess it's cheaper to chop up 1 or 2 shrimp than place 4 or 5 on top of a $32 entree. Also, the pinkish sauce was unidentifiable- was it tomato or fish? It certainly was fishy and salty. I would have been much happier with a Chinese shrimp fried rice dish. No question. Bottom line - an Italian restaurant should know how to cook Italian food. Some of its patrons are actually of Italian descent and know their food. Do better. Especially at the $32 price. read more

Oh my, Rosalie, what a dream! Recommend? 10/10. Obviously, we kicked things off with drinks, and I went for the End of Amalfi Summer. Let me tell you, it arrived with a chocolate flaked topped. Pure perfection. First course:Tuna crudo. If you love raw fish, this is your dish. But we couldn't stop there, enter the marinated cucumber masterpiece, possibly with Parmesan on top? I've been on a mission to recreate it ever since. Pasta time. GET. THE. GNOCCHI. That's it. That's the review. Main course: I had the Bronzino, and it was so flawlessly cooked and seasoned that I went full on savage and cleared the plate. My partner went with the scallops and was absolutely obsessed with the celery root purée. This spot? Adorable, cozy, and welcoming, with a staff that's on point. Bonus: We were seated next to legit food critics, and guess what? They were just as blown away as we were. What. A. Find! read more

My husband and I came here for our anniversary. I found this place and thought I was being nice by not making him drive to the city for dinner. He said he would have rather driven to the city to get a better meal. The meal did start off promising. The hostess wished us Happy Anniversary. There was lots of pasta dishes that looked good. We ended up getting 4 of them and splitting them. The ravioli Al uovo was the dish we were most excited to get and it was a little disappointing. The egg was fully cooked with no liquid at all. I got the gnocchi which was ok but a little weird. It was 4 big gnocchis which had collard greens and something else in it. I don't know if it really went together. I also got a crab pasta which was a little spicy- but it came with a weird pasta I never heard of. I forget what it was now. The best pasta dish was probably the casoncelli with the amaretti and brown butter sauce. But I've had this type of pasta at a lot of other restaurants and it wasn't as good as compared to the other restaurants. The cocktails we got were just ok, it seemed like something was off in it like it was missing something. We ordered a lava cake for dessert. The service towards the end was horrible we were waiting forever for our waiter to come back over. He didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert we had to flag him down to get dessert. Maybe we shouldn't have bothered. We had to wait even longer for the dessert to come out and when it did it was disappointing . It tasted like a cake you would get at Applebees or somewhere like that, one that is frozen and they just reheat it. The chocolate wasn't even liquidy in the middle. Our waiter never acknowledged our anniversary either, I don't know why there is a section on the reservation form for anniversary if no one does anything special for it. We learned our lesson and will probably just go to Philly to go to a nicer restaurant next year. read more

Beautiful establishment, but food was subpar. Small and bland portions. I like my food bland, so this was pretty bad that I had to add salt and pepper to everything. The crudo was a sad excuse of an appetizer. It was like a sad sashimi. Then the weird pairing of steak and beans? That they overcooked, but they gave us a new serving and a slice of tiramisu on the house. However, the pizza was actually pretty good. I also like my glass of Chianti. Super cute restaurant with fabulous service. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, knowledgable, and enthusiastic. If you're looking for a good date night spot or lunch with gals, this is it. The portions are about what I would expect, maybe a bit small, but the quality is good. They offer small sizes and entree sizes on some of the dishes, and I would suggest getting several things to share. Of the four things I tried, the gnocchi was my favorite. It had a bit of chew, and the mushrooms were fantastic. The arancini was probably my least favorite--something about the texture of the risotto that I wasn't into, and the flavor was a bit plain. The casoncelli was very unique, but I wasn't into the amaretti or whatever those little crispy sweet almond bits were, and the sauce was very rich in a borderline overwhelming way. Brussels and burrata were as good as expected. Overall, great experience with quality ingredients, and I'd be happy to come back and try other dishes! read more
