    Barry Allen and money talks

I had the privilege and honor to spend this past weekend with my bestie and she knows how much I love sushi so we checked out Izzy's. The ambiance in here was so cool and cute. I think what this world really needs is more cocktail bars. The drinks here were the perfect combination of delicious and strong. We tried almost half the menu (my only mild complaint is the small food menu) and everything was delicious. Would highly recommend the crispy tofu bao buns and the salmon hand roll

Absolutely loveeee the vibes at Izzy's! Cool, creative cocktails and lots of little dishes perfect for sharing. The bartenders are very personable and great with recommendations. I know it may sound basic but get the edamame, it's cooked PERFECTLY and has the perfect amount of yuzu salt. Highly recommend Izzy's!

    Pottery from the artist

Omg the pottery bowl that holds the citrus fruit and the ceiling work really caught my eye! These chefs continue to impress with food you didn't know was possible on the mainline. Detail and honor. I wonder if they know or get along with the team at Ripplewood, another fav, just down the block!! Shout out to James and top notch bartenders the lot of em.

Neighborhood vibe, friendly staff, creative and tasty cocktails. The Whose Blues and Juxtapose were both fantastic. I'm also a fan of the citrusy-salty edamame. Recommend!

    The Pullman Restaurant and Bar

We had a bizarrely mixed experience at the Pullman…read more The pretty decor implies fine dining, but when you look more closely you see scuff marks on the dirty floor, fingerprint smudges on the light fixtures, dust over the ledges, and dusty cheap candles from the dollar store. The food quality and prices were equally uneven. The very small portioned chicken dish (priced the same as the wagyu meatloaf) was dry and flavorless, and seemed as if it had been barely reheated in the microwave. The star of the meal was the meatloaf: perfectly seasoned with the most delicious, moist, and tender texture. But this dish was served with a very strange rubbery bacon covering some asparagus. The potato puree was very well executed, not gummy or over whipped, but silky and delicate. Strangely, the vegetables were also highlights: perfectly crisp grilled asparagus and Brussels sprouts. The most offensive dish of the evening was the dessert in the form of an apple crumb described as "flaky" and "buttery." I am not exaggerating when I say that this tasted like an Ikea cafeteria dessert that had been stuck in the display case for a month. Truly the most abominable, rubbery, dense, dry dessert I've ever had. I'm shocked they had the audacity to serve this. Service was mostly excellent, but we were confused as to why another table had the specials recited to them when we didn't. Perhaps this is decent place for happy hour, but I wouldn't recommend a full meal here.

For my main course, I had a crispy fried chicken cutlet topped with a perfectly dressed Caesar salad (not on the menu but absolutely worth asking for). I believe it was around $31 and worth every bite. The frosé was spot on too but order it as soon as you sit down so it has time to reach that perfect consistency. The service was amazing . Everything was on point. I'll definitely be back!

They also have a private area upstairs from this area where one could do a party for 10-12 and was used during the baby shower to make fresh flower bouquets, what a nice idea! Now to the food: - platter of fresh and grilled vegetables - 5/5, I only had the broccoli rabe and it was excellent - passed hors d'oeuvres - arancini 4/5, a little greasy but tasty, stuffed mushrooms 5/5 - not sure what they stuffed them with but delish!, whipped ricotta toasts with fig jam 4/5 quite decent - caesar salad - 4/5 - I thought it was overdressed but that didn't stop me from having several helpings - chopped salad - 4/5 - excellent and could have done without the pieces of salami in it but that's personal preference - margherita pizza - 4/5 solid offering - gemelli pasta with pistachio pesto - 5/5, this was one of my favorite items, light and tasty - fancy grilled cheese - 3/5, a little strange, with scrambled eggs, cheese, honey, inside thick sliced bread. Not inedible but also not at all what I was expecting - crispy potatoes - 5*/5, these were outstanding, think smashed pieces of potato lightly fried with salt (some pieces a little too salty) but perfection otherwise with the crispness of the potatoes. I would go back just for these potatoes The ambiance and service were great. Selection of cocktails and mocktails offered (not sure if they were specially made for the baby shower so I'm not going to comment) were solid. I'll go back and try it again for a dinner or lunch out

We decided to stop at The Grog Grill which I had only been to once before in the 23 years I've lived in the area. I recalled that at that time, the Grog burger had been named best of the Main Line so I tried it and thought it was definitely not the best burger. The service was excellent, the pub environment was pub-like, we were seated at a high top at the back of the restaurant and next to a door to to the outside which made it very cold! I wore my heavy coat the entire meal. Cobb salad - 3/5, I think it's hard to mess up a cobb salad, but this was just okay. Tons of bacon bits and not a lot of salad greens, almost like a deconstructed salad which is weird for pub food. Mushroom flat bread - 3/5, just okay What redeemed our lunch was that when we asked for the check, our lovely server told us that the older gentleman at the bar had taken care of it along with the checks for several other patrons that day. That's never happened to me before! I will need to pay it forward...just maybe not at The Grog Grill.
