The gentleman serving us -- a member of the family who owns Fellini -- was solicitous. While our meals were good, there are things I realized after the fact that bother me: -- Before ordering a Caesar salad, we asked if it's made with anchovies. The salad is listed at $9.50. We asked to split one order, which came to the table divided. I noticed, after my husband paid, that we were charged $13. An undisclosed $3.50 for anchovies that should have been included in the first place?! I think not. -- Chicken Rollatini -- This was T's favorite dish in our former neighborhood restaurant. As a point of comparison, Fellini's was okay, but it was over-sauced with a thin gravy. Plus, at $26.95 an overload of spaghetti didn't make up for one small roll of chicken. -- Chicken Francese -- Fellini's has a different spin than the lemon butter I'm used to. The menu claims asparagus and mozzarella. While I was eating, I thought 'this is good, but not as described.' And this is what happens when waiters don't write down orders. They gave me saltimboca. Fellini's is byob with no corkage fee. A sign outside offers a free glass of wine. Perhaps, because we didn't request the freebie, our host brought us amoretto on the house. A nice gesture. We went on a Thursday afternoon and had a blast. The atmosphere is absolutely 5 stars: you are surrounded by twinkle lights, fake plant and fruit decor, mini columns, and the sounds of 2000's Italian Pop music...with the addition of the old men arguing in Italian in the background, the vibes were absolutely impeccable. What a welcome change from the new modern, devoid of personality, sterile Italian restaurants popping up recently. Service by an older Italian man was efficient and out of the way. We were given a free glass of wine as well as a little beverage at the end. Unfortunately, the food was hit or miss. Having been to Europe a few times, I would describe this as a very mediocre performance of very authentic Italian food. We ordered the chicken special, as well as the lasagna. While the flavors were deliciously fresh and balanced - not at all heavy and salty like Americanized Italian food - the orders came out lukewarm and so fast that it seemed like they just microwaved the food. Lasagna had very little meat and was mostly cheese (still delicious). Bread was served cold with cold pats of butter in plastic. Servings were small, European sized but very pricy. This place is top notch, the hours are limited so definitely make a reservation! They give you house made wine for two people each a glass and four or more people a whole bottle! The food is delicious every time and they can usually make a variation of whatever pasta you want so if you don't see it on the menu just ask! We were greeted warmly and politely and treated well until the end--I'll get back to that. The decor is over the top in a fun and festive way--lots to look at and a magical air. It's nice to be offered a free glass of wine, regardless of the quality. Food was a mixed bag: soup and homemade pasta were excellent, but both eggplant and marinara sauce were oddly flavorless and the shrimp in a pasta dish had a fishy, not-quite-right taste. They also upsell by offering side dishes without explaining that they are not included with the entree (and, for the prices of the meals, they should be). When I asked for clarification of the bill at the end, the warmth and politeness evaporated. I would have chalked the costly side dishes up to experience and returned if the entire meal had been tasty, but the hostility at being questioned + an only half-good meal = we will not come back. read more

I am very surprised about some negative reviews from this Italian restaurant. We have been going here for years... Or their location before in Ardmore. every time we go there the food is solid, and it is a great value as well. It's a BYOB and it is a down to earth Italian restaurant. Finally got to try this place, I have been to numerous Fellini Cafe's over the years and this one did not disappoint. Ordered To Go, Pollo Parmigiana. I was really having a hankering for some chicken parm and this did not disappoint. I went with the pasta side, paparadella? A flat thin noodle in nice red sauce. As with most italian restaurants they don't serve the pasta and chicken together, even tho this is where it all ends up anyway...The pasta was perfect au dente, and the chicken was delicious! He even thru in some bread which was half a roll and went perfect with my meal. It is very cute inside, I love the decor. I'll probably order more to go before I sit inside during the pandemic tho. We've been going to Fellini's since it opened in Bryn Mawr and always enjoy our meals and the service we get from Pino. I'm not adventuresome so I usually order the homemade Pappardelle with red sauce and meatballs. it's always good and there's so much of it, I have lunch for the next day. The hub typically orders the special pasta of the day and cleans his plate. It's BYO so the dinner tab is always reasonable. read more

As an Italian food lover. I was yearning for some great Italian food last night. I ordered a Caesar Salad, Veal Parmigiana with a side of pasta, and asked for some extra marinara on the side, from Fellini's Cafe in Bryn Mawr, around 4 PM on Thursday, July 14th, using Grub Hub. I tracked my GrubHub driver on the app, starting from the time that he arrived at Fellini's Cafe for pickup. His wait time was short. And, even though he left my food at the wrong door, it was delivered quickly. The lettuce in the Caesar salad was warm and soggy, the veal parmigiana was covered in some unusual cheese that did not act like melted cheese when I cut into it; It had the texture of cheese whiz. The cheese was even worst than the veal itself, toughest veal ever...I may never eat veal parmigiana again, anywhere. By the way, I never got the side of extra marinara, maybe they just poured it all of over the meal. When I called to speak with the manager the next day, Pino, I let him know that I was not looking for any refund or payback, but, since I have enjoyed the food there in the past, I thought someone in charge should know about such an unappetizing meal that I got from his kitchen the night before. I told him all the issues. However, as soon as I mentioned to him how tough the veal was he kept interrupting me as I was speaking. He said, they have the best veal and that customers lick there plates clean. My dog would not have licked the plate that this meal was on. He implicitly called me a liar. I will never dine there or order another meal from this Fellini's or any others again. The meal was disgusting and the manager was rude! It was like flushing money down the toilet which is where the meal should have been disposed of too....very very disappointed! Stay away from this place! And, after my conversation with the manager, the establishment seemingly must have an implicit policy..."no complaining allowed!" This dining establishment's review history has decreased slowly over the years - which is expected, but now, they are down to a Yelp 3.5 stars. Just check-out the amount of one-star reviews recently. We received delivery tonight form Fellini Cafe. We have eaten at the Berwyn location and the Newtown Square location. Doordash only offers the Bryn Mawr location, so we ordered from it. The Gnocchi was mushy and tasted raw like dough. The bread was stale. Possibly a day old? The chicken parmesan was below average. It tasted like a frozen chicken patty with sauce and parmesan cheese on it. NO MOZZARELLA, all parmesan cheese which tasted like Kraft. The salad arrived with the dressing on it. We took polite bites and left the rest. I think this meal qualifies for the worst of my life. Where to start? We went to Fellini about 3x before the shutdown, and it was uniformly excellent. Particularly amazing were the lobster ravioli (that sauce!) and the chicken Marsala. Also the beautiful salads. I didn't have any of the issues noted with service then or ordering in (see below) -- t owner is super nice. During the shutdown we ordered their dinner for 4 I think 4x now. It's routinely dinner for 4 and lunch for 4 more :) let's just say the chicken Marsala got ordered repeatedly. The Chicken Fellini is also great. I think at this point we have had all the pasta varieties on their menu, I think. You really won't go wrong, but the mushroom pasta is the one we keep coming back to. I had an amazing takeout meal last night and tonight from The Original Fellini's Cafe in Bryn Mawr. The appetizer was stuffed calamari was filled with shrimp and crabmeat in a delicious crab sauce. The entree was amazing braciola with homemade pappardelle pasta in a marina sauce. The portions are very generous. I thought I was 10 yo again sitting at the dinner table with my grandmother who would make this exact meal from scratch. Pino and Franco (owners) are phenomenal....last week I had takeout dinner for 3 on Monday and dinner for 4 on Wednesday. My guests were amazed and wanted the contact information. With only 2 raviolies eaten server doesn't ask if there is a problem. $16 no salad or soup. 1 pc of bread. 1 butter. After waiting 15 mins for cappuccino and now waiting 20 more mins for someone to take my payment I decide to make use of my time by writing this post. Let's recap. Slow surly service. I live locally so I thought I'd give this place a try. First of all, it is so dated and tacky inside,walls coverd in plasic flowers and blinking xmas lights!!! Walking in I was overpowered by the smell of old mops...not the arouma I expected.
