    Western Omelette
    Anna Z.

I normally like Nudy's but then again I only get their eggs benedict. This time I decided to go with a western omelette and was very disappointed, not only once but twice in one sitting. I requested that the onions and peppers be cooked. I HATE raw onions and peppers. What I got was raw onions and peppers in my omelette! I requested that they redo the omelette which was not better, still hard and there was NO taste to the omelette! I always assumed that omelettes were made with the eggs wrapped around the fillings and not cooked along with it, which I believe not only dries out the eggs but also over cooks the egg. I just took it home and deconstructed it the next day and made it just the way I like it!

Nudy's never disappoints! Food came out quickly and was delicious, staff is always super kind. The best place in the area to go for lunch and a great place to sit outside if the weather is nice.

    California Benedict

We went here for late breakfast/lunch and I was quite surprised to see it pretty empty! Granted, it was Eagles Sunday. The restaurant is very quaint, but a little more basic than many of the other locations. Our food was very good. We got the cinnamon roll French toast, the California Benedict, and a Buffalo chicken wrap. I did feel like service was lacking, though. We had an issue with one of the dishes (which was only mildly annoying), but our server didn't come back for us to correct the issue. When he did return, he asked if we needed anything, we were done. Additionally, a different server came around for coffee refills and only had regular coffee. My friend was drinking decaf, but she said she wanted more of that. The guy never came back with the decaf. We all were out of drinks for a bit. It was survivable, though annoying. I would try here again, but I would prefer the other locations to this one.

But after several satisfying dinners - usually as a…read moreprelude to an evening at nearby People's Light - Fork & Bottle has not only captured my attention, it has also continued to impress. The setting, as you would undoubtedly surmise, is typically hotel-esque in nature. That being said, however, the room still manages to generate a certain generic charm. And I would also hasten to add that the service - even with our various parties of 20 or more - has been excellent in every respect. But on to the food... The dinner menu isn't quite what you'd expect. Take the starters, for instance. The usual suspects - Cesare Salad, Shrimp Cocktail, French Onion Soup, Buffalo Chicken Wings, Cheesesteak Egg Rolls - as you note, are present and accounted for. However, there are also a number of innovative diversions - such as Soft Bavarian Pretzel Sticks with Delco Lager cheese sauce, Pepperoni Bolognese Flatbread spruced up with crème fraiche, ricotta, Fontina & Parmigiano cheeses, and the Ten Million Dollar Dip that features Maine lobster, sour cream, bacon, cheddar, almond, scallions, and Ritz crackers - that manage to grab your attention. Moving on, diners may choose from either the Entrées category or take a more casual route with Sandwiches & Pub Fare. The former, which lists a number of all-too-familiar ingestibles, still manages to tempt our taste buds by teaming them up with some rather intriguing sidekicks. A not-terribly-exciting Pan Roasted Chicken, for example, is prepared agrodolce, with an alluring sour-sweet demi-glace... Chilean Sea Bass is cooked up teriyaki style... Canadian Salmon is adorned with a sweet & spicy glaze and companioned by mango & yogurt... Sautéed Lamb Sirloin is enhanced with a rich & savory Madeira sauce... and a 10oz Strip Steak basks in an addictive shallot & port wine reduction. Other main course possibilities include Angus Filet au Poivre with cognac cream, Char Grilled Pork Flat Iron marinated with garlic & oregano, Lobster Fra Diavolo, Crab Stuffed Shrimp, and Broiled Scallop & Lobster Gratin. On the other hand, should you decide to take the Sandwiches & Pub Fare route, have no fear, you will certainly not be disappointed. During previous visits, I sampled the Garganelli Pasta Bolognese and the Chicken Cobb Salad. Both were excellent. The former is comprised of buttered garganelli (egg-based pasta from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy), angus beef Bolognese, olive oil, and Parmigiano-Reggiano. The latter combines mixed lettuces, hard-boiled egg, tomato, blue cheese, bacon, and avocado sprinkled with a zesty lemon vinaigrette. Most recently, my dining companion made straight for the Crab Cake Sandwich, to which she gave an enthusiastic "thumps up." I, on the other hand, couldn't resist the considerable charms of the Chicken Cutlet & Ranch BLT, a luscious combo on toasted brioche immersed in an incredibly addictive herb ranch dressing. I should add that the delicious hand-cut French fries, which accompanied both sandwiches, were a considerable drawing card as well. The dessert menu runs the gamut... from such familiar sweet endings as Crème Brûlée and Warm Chocolate Lava Cake to Mango Lime Cheesecake with raspberry sauce, Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding garnished with vanilla ice cream, and Frozen Mississippi Mud Pie. The restaurant also offers Bassetts Ice Cream & Sorbet, should you be so inclined. For my money, however, nothing quite surpasses The Desmond's Warm Bread Pudding. Bathed in a sweet vanilla sauce, this is one outrageously rich, thoroughly delightful denouement that more than lives up to its considerable reputation. Simply not to be missed.

If you time it right, it's fine. If you don't, enjoy wandering around awkwardly with a beer while hunting for a seat that does not exist. I've definitely bailed a couple times after realizing I'd have better luck finding parking in Center City. Beer is... fine. Nothing life-changing, but there's enough variety to keep you from complaining too much. Usually a couple decent IPAs--I've been into Coastal Quest lately, so there's that. Food? Also fine. Specials? Also... fine. But credit where credit's due: the Italian Grinder Pizza actually fantastic! RIP Happy Hour beer deals, which is a choice I will continue to side-eye. Bombers still exist, though, so I guess we take the small wins. Real talk: this should be a 3-star place. BUT--the staff absolutely carries it to a 4. They're fast, friendly, somehow remember your name and drink, and will magically find you a seat when the place looks like a human traffic jam. Also always down to chat when it's slow, which makes you feel like a regular even if you're not. So come for the convenience, stay because the staff is awesome, and just emotionally prepare yourself for the 5pm chaos.

They close on the early side, but still a good spot, and I saw some families there too. Note, I don't know if it's all the time, but when we were there, ordering was at the bar, not at the table (except maybe food, but we didn't eat that evening). A bit loud, but that's to be expected. Looks like a fun spot for a larger gathering too.

We ordered pulled pork and brisket dinners. The pork was eatable. Sides were Cole slaw, which had too much celery seed in it and wasn't flavorful, and collards which were ok. The brisket was terrible, very dry. The burnt top was not appealing or tasty and contributed to the dryness. It was so dry I couldn't eat it. It was worse than bad burnt ends. The cornbread was terrible. It was hard, thin, and dry, like the baking powder wasn't added. The mac and cheese was cheesy, but didn't have any flavor. In light of this, while they're close to my house, we don't plan on returning.
