Went there last Saturday and it was fully packed. The atmosphere itself is something to experience--I've never been to a diner that almost ran out of parking spot. Everything was good, from food to service!

The food is actually awful. I grew up here, I know it's a really classic spot, but the food is just awful. No complaints about the service, just the WORST food. If you are under the age of 75, go elsewhere. I got a Reuben, and it was the worst reuben I've ever eaten, no exaggeration, in my life. It wasn't even on rye, even though the menu said it would be. The meat was rubbery and lukewarm. My husband is REALLY easy to please, and even he said his burger was "really bad" and he "powered through" to get it down. My cousin got the Greek salad with chicken, and it looked decent enough. Nowhere near worth the price, but probably the best of our orders. But definitely not worth the price.

My family and I have been coming here for many many years. The quality came down right after the pandemic, and now I feel the quality went back up again (thankfully). The service here always has been stellar with super friendly servers. The quantity of food they give you is always plenty. I can easily just eat half, and other half home, but I always end up eating everything The place looks full most of the time, but the space is pretty large so they always have tables for us. Just a side note: during Villanova University's school year (especially weekends) this place is very busy.

Can't sit down until your entire party is there. Big menu with plenty of options. Very busy on weekends so be mindful of potential wait times but food comes out pretty quick. Pay at the front so it's convenient if you're in a rush during busy hours.

2 eggs over easy. Country potatoes. White toast.

Good comfort food cooked perfectly. Usually I ask for my corned beef hash BURNT, well done and crispy. I forgot, I was sleepy from taking the red eye from LAX. It was cooked perfectly! Eggs were eggactly how I love them. Potatoes were a little crispy and soft on the inside. I wanted sourdough but my only choices were white, wheat and rye. The toast was Texas toast little sister. Had a thickness to it but very light and fluffy. The server was very hospitable. Although I saw 3 people standing at the counter and I desperately wanted more water. It took a couple of minutes. Place was clean and well kept. Bathroom was very clean.

Hosts weren't very friendly but our waitress was. Chicken noodle soup of the day was good and so was my tortellini Alfredo (which the waitress was ok with adding green peas to). Yummy rice pudding. Would definitely go back.

Still the go to spot for Sunday brunch. It gets packed starting at 11 but the tables turn over quickly and the staff are friendly and efficient. We were very happy with our pastrami Reuben and turkey platters which came within 10 minutes of ordering even with the high traffic level during prime time on a Sunday.

My mom and I stopped in for a quick lunch. We were in and out which was perfect. Our total meal was $25 which was a great price for what we got. We got 2 meals and 2 sodas. The food was wonderful and the portion size was perfect. We will be back!

Classic diner with a fully stocked bar. Everything you'd expect from a diner including polite, attentive servers.

Clean, efficient and good food. Exactly what you except of a Northeastern diner. Good omelet and great home fries. No gluten free toast.

Delicious food with great variety. Been a customer for years without a problem. You can't go wrong with Minella's for a good 24-hour diner.

So many times when I eat out and a savory pie is on the menu I find myself staring at a deconstructed thing. All the ingredients piled on a plate in a lovely gravy with a Pie Puff on top. Good, but not great. In this The Silverspoon already has my vote as they made an honest to god PIE. Full crust top and bottom and when you factor in that the filling was spectacular, the duck juicy and tender and the crust not too flaky and not too crunchy? I was in heaven. Piled atop the Pie was a veritable mountain of watercress and Pomegranate seeds (next time I will set them to the side so I can choose the proper amount per mouthful) and it's here that the Pie really took off. The Pomegranate seeds were little jewels of sweet and tart juice that gave a little pop of color and cool to the delicious duck with every bite. I was so very thrilled with it. I got an opportunity to speak with the new proprietor Michael and he was also an absolute pleasure. The service was friendly and the food was incredible. I will absolutely be back! The only thing I wish was that I had checked my doggie bag before I left, sadly my pie leftovers must have been placed in another bag. That's okay though, it just means that I have to go back and order again :D

Why did she have to be so miserable when she could have had sweet, ol' lovable me forever. Anyway, nothing has changed other than the menu. The interior still had warm paintings of cute doggos all around, and the service at the bar was spectacular. Peter, I believe was his name, was so courteous, calm, respectful and nothing was a problem, he just took care of things. The starters of Tuna Tartar and the Arugula Beet Salad were fabulous, so full of mixed flavors, pleasing to all senses. For entrees my friend had the Blackened Shrimp ABLT salad, so decadent, so rich in flavors and content. I had the leftovers the next day, it was still fabulous. I had the Lamb Bolognese. A creamy thick bolognese but not heavy...if that makes any sense. For dessert the pineapple upside cake ala mode to die for! Great choice. My frequent visits in the area are Rosalie's and Estia. And now put White Dog back on that list. It's time to become a regular again in that rotation.

I was back in Philly for work and wanted to check out a breakfast/brunch spot that I used to love…read more Unfortunately, things were different this time. FOOD: The breakfast burrito was not good at all. They put huge chunks of raw onions and green peppers in it. I had to pick them all out. They should cut them small and at minimum sweat them down a little. Those are 2 products that should be used sparingly due to their powerful flavor. It was also supposed to have bacon in it, but there were only a few teeny tiny pieces in it. By "few" I mean like 4 bacon bits in the entire burrito. Based on the size and the taste, I think they actually used a jar of those little red salad dressing isle bacon bits. I have a good palate and struggled to even taste the bacon. I even pulled 1 of the 4 bacon bits out and ate it on its own & it tasted like nothing. Unknown if that was because it was so small or because it wasn't real bacon. SERVICE: They sat me at the bar, but I didn't get a server to come greet me for almost 10 minutes. But I do acknowledge it was very very busy so I wasn't too concerned. ** I probably just ordered the wrong menu item. I do not recommend the cowboy burrito. However 9 of the 10 times I've dined there it was a good experience. The place was packed on a Wednesday morning. So obviously people love this place. ____________________________________________________________________ GOOD: Those little Jewish Apple Cakes were the same as they always were. We were promptly seated and attended to; drinks were brought out right away. When our server asked if we had dined there before, the others hadn't but I mentioned I'd attended their recent Yelp Elite event, which she was familiar with. We all shared the General Tso Cauliflower, which was delicious and fun! I also enjoyed the Crab Bisque as a starter and the Fish Tacos for my entree. Everything was hot and tasty, and the portions were just right. No complaints. Initially the food was brought out pretty quickly, then service slowed wayyy down. It did start to get busy, but not unmanageably; however, it eventually felt like we were forgotten about. It took forever to get our check, and the system wouldn't recognize my Burtons membership info to give me points for the visit. But I mentioned the date in the beginning because the AWS outage occurred that day. I think that was ultimately the issue, but the lack of communication and check-ins from our server added an element of frustration to our experience that could have been prevented. We skipped dessert, as we were full and literally out of time (had to get back to work). Overall it was decent, and I'd still go back again. (Oh, and I did finally get my points credited to my account, so that's all good!)

After being seated, greeted by a heavier bald guy who was kind and gave us a moment. After we placed our order no one checked on us. He came by after our food was already done being picked at and he asked if we wanted any coffee drinks or deserts. I actually really did want to get a tea because the lemonade tasted horrible but he never stopped to check in on us. I actually started to observe and noticed on the other side of the restaurant he checked on two people who weren't paying, so it made me feel uneasy. This is not a place I would recommend to anyone that I know. Sure it's nice inside and they said everything they make is homemade which is great, but the food doesn't taste nor the drinks and the service couldn't hit the mark. This was a disappointment. I know people judge you based off of how you dress and who you are. We did not fit in being two people of color in a restaurant full of older white people. It's sad. I expected better I attached a picture of what I have on today (I started writing this review after getting in the car)
