I had such high hopes for diner here, and even bypassed all the fabulous dining options next to our King of Prussia lodging to come here in hopes of some good down home cooking. We got everything but. First off the lot is undersized for a diner of this size, but is located on a main road. The diner itself it pretty dated, clean at first glance but at closer examination you can see it needs a good scrub. The menu was extensive and had lots of good salad options. Although I was intially leaning more towards a home cooked meal the enticing variety of salads drew us both in, and that's what we ultimately both ordered. He ordered some sort of fried chicken with honey mustard on mixed greens, while I ordered one that was a little more original. I also got soup which was pasty and overfloured. When the salads arrived they were massive, however after digging in realized they were both missing key ingrediants missing in the description, and instead of the spring mix as described, only had a sprinkle of spring mix on top a heaping pile of romaine hearts. Mine was basically inediable and sent back, only we had to call someone else over to get our waiter's attention because he never did a follow up. He was good on the eyes but not much else as his service was poor. He did however admit and agree to the faults with both and even went so far as to say they hide the romaine lettuce under there as a money saver. Hubby kept his but left most behind. Mine came off the check. At check out which is basically a strange little bar nook with a non verbal, prehaps autistic man running the register (and serving drinks....weird), the whole experience felt very off. Stopped in to Minella's Diner on my way home to pick up a little something sweet. The dessert cases looked tempting - cakes, pastries, cookies. My server was very polite and helpful. I thanked him for his good American spirit. I chose 2 desserts totaling over $10. When it came time to pay, I was met with an older gentleman's mental voyeurism & name calling. I shoulda given him my name as Det. Olivia Benson. Let them eat cake! absolutely a waste of time. The small Lemon Cake w/ filling & creme seemed baked for 1 second. Really, really substantially messy & insulting. The eclair consisted of the same overload of custard with no baked hardness to the pastry shell. Minellas is what I would define as a true diner that still serves delicious food at a reasonable price. Great service and overall food. I've been here a few times previously but recently moved out of the area so don't frequent this spot as much. The menu is extensive so it may take you thirty minutes to decide what you want. They are open 24 hours and serve breakfast all day. I chose the mile high meatloaf which came with soup, mashed potatoes and onion straws for around $15. It was definitely enough for two meals. How I miss diner food since I live in Florida! My sister and I flew up from Florida in June to visit family in the area. Eating at diners is near the top of our agenda for our weekend visit. The menu here is quite extensive so there is something for all appetites 24 hours a day. Our sister who lives in the area brought us to Minella's for lunch the day we arrived. It is a cozy place to grab a quick lunch or sit and chat for a bit (like my sisters and I did). Service was a little slow but we arrived at the peak of lunch hour on a Friday afternoon. I ordered a Mushroom Cheeseburger without the bun because I'm gluten free. I was a bit disappointed that a place like Minella's doesn't serve gluten free bread. My meal was delicious even without bun. The burger was piled high with mushrooms and bacon. One of my sisters ordered Chicken Croquettes. According to my sister, the croquettes were excellent. We finished off the meal with rich, creamy rice pudding which satisfied our sweet tooth. Our server was very pleasant and other employees that delivered the food and cleared the table were friendly and efficient also. Right before going here, I was thinking "Is it possible to mess up a tuna melt?". Thankfully Minela's answered my question with a hard yes. The tuna melt- if it can be called that- was bland, using a English muffin for a base, unsalted tuna that was flavorless and why, why, a slab of AMERICAN cheese. Tonight I had the egg plant that was sautéed with tomato and topped with mozzarella . Fresh and delicious without breading. The spaghetti gravy is home made , slightly sweet- delish. Greek specialties are my fave too- gyro with a Greek side. salad , spanakopita, moussaka. Traditional diner meals - Turkey, gravy, apple stuffing and 2 sides ,soup or salad and fresh rolls - I fall into a comfortable thanksgiving food coma and soooo delish. I think the breakfast food was good but not great - the sides of potatoes are thin sliced and don't taste like much (under cooked) and the English muffin on my eggs Benedict wasn't toasted which was odd to me. I enjoyed my breakfast at Minalla's. I used to go here when I was in college at Villanova all the time. It was nice to come back. I got the grilled blueberry muffin and the mainline special. As stated in my previous reviews I've been a long-time customer since approximately 1978 but my experience in the last years have garnered an upgrade to 5 stars. And I would encourage you to read my previous review please Because In this update I'll be pointing out a few different things. No matter who I have dined with the last two years, perhaps 10x , the first thing we always say when we go to make that turn into the parking lot is "I wonder if We will get a spot?" We drive around to the back scanning the area for the first spot we find that many times we're getting what is one of only two or three spots open. And this place has a huge parking lot!! When our meal was done at approximately 130 and we came to retrieve our car there was one not one spot available. The place is that good! The other thing worth noting Is how incredibly clean and pretty it is inside. Pretty countertops, booths, tables and the gleaming stainless steel ceiling so reminiscent of those dining cars Of decades past. And yet, Minella's interior is totally modern. What To say about the staff? Professional, nicely attired, Courteous, pleasant, welcoming, efficient, accurate. You don't see all of that much these days and I must say it has always been a pleasant experience to dine here. And all of that is good but what you really want when you go to a diner is to have good food served professionally and accurately and up to your expectations. I can say this is always been my experience at Minella's. In the past two years I've dined with Yelp friends, My millennial daughter who by the way absolutely loves this place and former work associates. Today I am dining with an older acquaintance who like me enjoys good food with good portions served hot and fresh at a reasonable prices. Ding! Ding! Ring the bell because that happened today. Menu: Salad platter with a smaller or larger option and our choice was beef, chicken or a vegan burger. Both of us chose the smaller version with the vegan burger which sat atop greens, Surrounded by red juicy sliced tomatoes with a huge portion of coleslaw. If you choose the larger platter you would also get a huge portion of potato salad. Both are homemade. With our platter came a cup of homemade soup. My companion enjoyed the chicken noodle and I went absolutely nuts over the Greek lemon chicken soup. I'm going to have to Google a recipe for that one folks because it was fabulous. The smaller version was a large enough meal. I'm still trying to figure out where in the dead of winter they were able to find these beautiful, tasty tomatoes. The coleslaw was awesome. Minella's is everything you want in a diner - We have lived in the area for a long time and simply never gone. Not because we heard bad things, but simply never thought of it. We had a large group in town and figured it would be our best bet at getting at able. Our party of 9 was seated immediately on a Sunday. They were bustling but had a few open tables they put together for us, which was much appreciated. Our server was awesome (and patient) - she got all our orders right and paid careful (and really sweet) attention to the little ones who were encouraged to order on their own. Everyone agreed their food was delish and our family of four decided right then we'd add them to our rotation. It's great to find a local diner with good food that also has plenty of seating. So many of our fave diners are tiny so we try to only go at opening. Minella's has space for everyone! Let's start with the food. Two eggs with French toast and bacon was my order. The eggs were cooked to perfection, and they seemed to be good quality (bright golden yellow yokes). The French toast was pretty good. Thick cuts were light and fluffy, and had good taste. And the side of bacon was crispy just how I like it. Not undercooked or burnt. Service is next... seated quickly and the service was appropriate. Kind and responsive. Food came out quick and hot. Ambiance was pleasant. The mirrored wall with the etched Philly skyline was a nice local touch. Just felt like a traditional diner. Also, very clean. Floor and tables were clean surfaces. My friend ordered a Monte Cristo. I ordered the Lancaster Ave salad with grilled chicken but with romaine instead mixed greens and balsamic instead of mustard. We both thought our meals were delicious. The chicken on my salad was well seasoned and tender. The salad itself was well balanced with the creamy blue cheese and tart cranberries. I would definitely get it again. I also got a side of waffle fries which were well seasoned and nice and crispy. We went about 1pm on a Tuesday and the place was pretty busy and you could tell pur waitress felt overwhelmed. I love a diner, and Minellas is a great dining experience. I have gone here several times and I really have not been disappointed yet. Their food pricing is slightly more expensive, but it does make up for with the portions you get and the overall taste of the food. The service is always very quick and speedy. There have been a few occasions that I extend my meal by finishing off my coffee and the servers turn "cold" and want me to leave. When we go out for late night diner food, How can you go wrong? A diner visit must include breakfast and dessert. My dsughter enjoyed a short stack of blueberry pancakes with the sausage links. My son devoured the cheeseburger deluxe, onion rings, bacon, and fries. The cheesesteak egg rolls were delish. Crispy and filled with just enough cheesesteak. When you're hangry! Nothing could be finer then eating at a diner! Found this spot on the way home from Lancaster Pa. Yes we took the long way home but the view (and this pit stop) was worth the time. They are doing a good job of keeping patrons separate while maintaining a cozy atmosphere. Every other booth was shut down for additional social distancing. Good quick service and huge portions. Warm bread and a nice salad was provided and meal cook just as we requested. Had lunch at Minella's and was very impressed with the food and the service. I am shocked at the mediocre Yelp reviews since from my experience, this diner is truly a 5 star place! We ordered sandwiches (the veggie club and the steak and mushroom panini) - both came with Cole slaw, a pickle, and fries. We subbed one for sweet potato fries which were amazing. The sandwiches were both great, good portion sizes and tasted amazing! As soon as I walked in, the dessert case caught my eye so we finished off our meal with a carrot cake which was delicious. This is a real diner in all the best ways. Broad menu with solid consistent quality food. You can even get a beer with your scrapple and eggs if so inclined. A nice, homey Main Line institution. Nothing special, but there's good service with lots of friendly smiles even when it's busy, a great atmosphere (people of all ages--high school-college students to senior citizens!), and I love the booths and diner vibe. The portions are pretty large, so you can definitely share or take some home for later. It's open 24/7 so I think it'd be great for making a pit stop late at night or early in the morning. There is free parking in the lot! The omelette I had was alright. I liked the chicken but the avocado wasn't ripe. The potatoes were just right! My friends liked their eggs and one got coffee and split pea soup she enjoyed. You take your receipt up to pay at the end.
