If the food doesn't kill you, a customer might. I wish I could get this place a lower rating. Food quality has gone downhill especially during lunch and dinner, they can barely make breakfast. How tough is it to make eggs, pancakes, and French toast with screwing that up. Severs try to push you out the door as fast as possible and will make nasty comments about other customers in front of you as if you can't hear them. Customers have become worse,. The last time I was there I watched a man eating with two teenage girls, he threatened them that they owed him money and that he would take things away from them after they left because of the money he claimed they owed him. I went here with family from out of town for a birthday lunch. When we walked in we were greeted by the friendly staff & seated. I saw Quiche as one of the Specials ~ I was so excited because I haven't had that in decades, never see it on menus, I ordered the ham Quiche & was not disappointed. I'm going to give Minella's a solid 4 stars-- they are a true "diner" if you will. My last diner experience was less than stellar and left a bad taste in my mouth for diners (literally), but Minella's has me wanting to come back for more. The atmosphere is...diner-y. We walked in on a busy Saturday morning and were immediately shuffled to a table for 2. Service was fast, a little ornery, but isn't that why you come to a diner? It was lively, family and kid friendly, and welcoming. The food was also solid diner food. Homefries were more of a hash brown (which is what I was looking for anyways) and were crisp, not soggy, and not greasy/oily. The poached eggs over medium were "perfectly poached" (not overly soft or hard and sitting in their own egg water). Canadian bacon-- good! Toast came dry with a side of butter (better than having to ask for "dry rye" which tends to get stares from my husband). Service was attentive and we were in and out with our stomachs happy! I use to once love this place. Have been here many many times and today was just the worse experience of my life. With racism and the disrespect that me and my fiancé received in this establishment; not only are you blatantly speaking to other customers how you feel about us as a whole but how we are the ones being disrespectful. Since we sat down you did not care to come to our table because of the color of our skin. When our server first came to us when we order drinks we told her we're ready to order as well. So we gave her our drinks and she immediately walked away not saying anything which I thought was strange and rude but 10 minutes later came back with drinks and walked off again. She not only did she not listen to us she was rude and unprofessional by walking off. Now let's get into the blackened nachos we order. Not only was that an appetizer and she brought it out after our meals, but the fact that they threw chips on the plate and threw a scoop of beans and cheese on top. I have never seen nachos so dry in my life even Taco Bell is better than that. We order cinnamon raisin and blueberry French toast and it was okay but the server wrote it down and completely forgot to tell the cooks. She even said my bad I forgot to tell them; well how miss you wrote it down. When we told our server we didn't want the nachos because it was poorly executed you decided to look at us like we was dumb took the plate and said under your breath as you walked away," if these aren't nachos I don't know what is" and told your manager. Which is completely what you should've done but the fact that the manager of this establishment didn't care to walk over to us and have a conversation about why or what is disrespectful and unprofessional. Any manager of a restaurant or fast food establishment you'd think the manager would come and talk to us about our experienced; if I could give no stars I definitely would but no stars. I have been in some racists establishments but this was just too much. Like the old school diner vibe and having Coke over Pepsi.The `free` on request cole slaw/pickle was very `vlasic` like and nothing special.Most of our neighbors around us were having brkfst which looked great,but at 1pm we wanted a bridge to hold us til dinner. I'm surprised by the low overall rating here, but after reading a few reviews about not enough salt or a bland omelette, I think some people are just special. Word to the wise; If you're looking for a "dining experience", don't go to a friggin diner. I had business in Wayne yesterday and decided to revisit Minellas. In the past it had always been excellent. First impression. V clean. Lovely waitress, clean menus, table and condiments. I ordered matzah ball soup. Delishous if in need of seasoning. I'd rather have no salt than the whole salt sellar in my bowl. My main course of centre pork chops arrived. The vegetables of rice, broccoli and apple sauce were beyond good. The chops were dry and tough, like old boots! I imagine perhaps they'd been pulled out of the freezer and partially defrosted before slamming them on the grill. Such a waste and disappointment. Minella's is a staple diner on the Main Line. I used to go often in my younger years, but now I'm way too practical to pay for breakfast too often and I don't have many late nights. I went recently for a networking meeting with an old colleague. I was sat immediately and offered coffee, yes please. The breakfast menu is your typical diner type things - eggs, omelets, french toast, pancakes, etc. I ordered an egg white omelet with a side of fruit and dry toast. The portion was fair and the price was aligned with the Main Line, but didn't feel over charged. The two guys working the register were pretty funny and friendly. Hope this is a one-off, but the food was absolutely terrible. We have been going to Minella's for over 20 years and I don't know why the quality sank to this low. Ordered Eggs Benedict and the egg whites were barely cooked. Sent it back and ordered the nachos. Portion was smaller, the grated cheese wasn't melted, the tomatoes were quartered (like you would put on a salad) and the sour cream and guacamole were in small plastic ramekins, instead of being placed on top of the nachos. My daughter ordered an omelet, which was way overcooked and rather bland; the homefries were way undercooked. On top of that, the prices seem much higher. $13 for an omelette seems a bit much for a diner (I know I know, food prices are going up everywhere). Minella's has done a lot better by us, lately. Several more trips for late-night cheesesteaks, reubens, and about 4 trips for the Greek Sampler, and everything seems to be back on track! Of the last 4 orders for the Greek Sampler, they now have a new option. If you want salad and bread (as takeout) there is a surcharge, fine with me. We opted for that each time. One of the four times they forgot the add-ons but when we let them know the next time, the manager made up for it with a huge 'ol pile of bread and gigunda salads. VERY nice customer service! This definitely shows us they want our business and encourages us to go back. We are very happy to be back as customers for the much-missed Greek Sampler, and I don't mind paying a surcharge to get my precious bread and salad to go with it, because it makes a wonderful meal! read more

Horrible service! A shame that I was going to this diner with friends every Wednesday night. I attend a function on Wednesday nights until between 9pm - 9:15pm, which happens to be located down the street from this diner. I always order a waffle, one scoop of ice cream, fresh fruit (banana, strawberries, and/or blueberries), sometimes topped off with whipped cream on top, and a fountain soda, which winds up costing about $20. One of my friends buys desserts for my kids; one time he purchased over $85 extra in desserts for people to take to their kids. After going here for the past 4-6 months, every week, sometimes 2 times per week. We went there last night, after our meeting; we were able to get there, find parking all the way on the back, and it was exactly 9:28pm when we walked through the front doors. The waiter George was completely nasty, he made an X with his arms and proceeded to push them open stating in a very aggressive rude manner, "We are done." I heard the woman running the register, question him. He responded saying, "The kitchen closes at 9:30pm." So according to everything online this place closes at 10pm. Also, we always eat and then leave, plus we were all going to get the waffle, ice cream, and fresh fruit, which takes no time. So today, the owner and manager were informed of what happened last night and their response was, "If we come there all the time then we should know the kitchen closes at 9:30pm." When the owner doesn't care about the business and has horrible customer service to those who are giving them their hard earned money and keep coming back. Then the manager doesn't care about the business and continues the horrible customer service. Then the staff doesn't care about the business and continues the horrible customer service. (I had to talk my friends into continuing to go to this diner after: - the tables and seats are always nasty, we have to ask them to wipe them down before we can sit - the bus guy (same person who is supposed to wipe the tables), slams the bus-pan around.... clanging dishes, throwing dishes into the bus-pan.... clanging dishes, and slams the bus pan back.... clanging dishes - Then the biggest reason is... I had a horrible migraine and the same guy was next to our table vacuuming at 9:15pm, so my friend politely said can you do this area last my friend has a migraine headache and the guy said, "No he needs to do this." Some coworkers and I just had a great lunch at Minella's. I hadn't been there myself in probably about 15 years or so, and my boss suggested we give it a try as he goes there often with his family. Anyway, our waitress was super friendly. Not overbearing or anything - just very talkative and lively. Can't recall her name but she said she'd been working there for 36 years which is pretty amazing! The food was really good and definitely worth the price - no complaints at all from our group of four. We ordered four different sandwiches - chicken parm, cobb, asiago and chorizo, and a chicken sandwich with bacon and honey mustard. They were all really good, as were the fries. I really liked the coleslaw and mentioned it while our waitress was there, and the next thing I know, she brings me another little container of it - very thoughtful of her! Also tried the matzo ball soup which was very tasty, and apparently the chicken noodle soup was really good too. All in all, I don't know why I waited so long to go back to Minella's. This diner is an average diner located on the mainline. This past Saturday it was jampacked with families and a couple of other couples. Our drinks came out fairly swiftly considering the crowd and our food followed shortly after. I wonder why can't diners serve Habbersett scrapple? It is so much better then any other kind I have ever had. I fear the people who are tourist order scrapple because it's a "famous Philadelphia" food and they are not really getting a good feel for how it should be. Frankly, I should never let any fellow diner order scrapple unless my husband is cooking it. He makes the best crispy scrapple. All in all our food was pretty good, if you like this kind if food. There were three of us, I had the cheese omelet with bacon and toast, Jimi had eggs over easy with bacon and home fries and Larry, a bacon omelet with home fries, toast selection was white, wheat or rye. Waitress was a sour puss. She came over in a timely manner but never introduced herself, just a do you want anything to drink. The drink orders were filled quickly. She then took our order and a asked questions like white or wheat toast in a monotone voice. It wasn't overly busy but we never saw her again for a half hour. We were finished when she asked me if I wanted more coffee. I declined but would have had another if she had come back 25 minutes earlier as the coffee wAs very good. Had a couple bad experiences here recently. Called to place an order for a sandwich online and the online menu had French fries included. Was told on the phone that the online menu is incorrect and it doesn't come with it but I could get them "just this one time." Came back another time and we still had not gotten up from our table when one of the owners put a dirty bucket of dishes on it. Lastly I spoke to one of the waitresses who was in training. I wanted to ensure she received a tip. She was great. Not only did she inform me that she wouldn't get a share of the tips but also that training is UNPAID.
