If you are enjoying Valley Forge Park & looking for a historic breakfast or lunch and even dinner on Friday, look no further than the G Lodge Cafe! You can taste the love in the food managed & served by Family! For lunch I highly recommended the Pastrami Reuben or the Turkey Rachel with both the crinkle cut fries & the crispy delicious onion rings! Grabbing a bite at the G Lodge is like icing on the cake for a trip to Valley Forge! Go & Enjoy!!

Veggie 3 egg omelette with home fries and GF toast
Tara V.

I've eaten at this place on and off for 45 years. It's mostly been mediocre and at times there was a whole lot of crazy with the one owner's wife. It seems to have leveled out. Good was solid. Omelette was fresh veggies, cooked perfectly. They also could easily do the home fries on the grill to avoid the fryer. They had GF toast! Server was nice and not overly cloying in her diner service. Just as kitschy an interior as I recall.

Veggie omelette

Update: Had breakfast here again, with a much more disappointing experience. Decided to try one of the daily specials, Huevos Rancheros, which is one of my favorites, but the plate came out with many fried elements. The Hashbrown patties had been deep fried, as well as mini tortillas, something I've never seen before. I don't like fried food, and don't expect that for breakfast, so I had to send that back. So I opted for what I had there before, a veggie omelette. The food was OK, not bad, not great. It was also not something I would go out of my way for. Service was also not good. It was not busy, but I almost got up and left when nobody came over to take my order. I had to keep looking around and staring down a server. I requested that she top off the coffee frequently as I like coffee really hot, but each time I had to request it. And in the end, though I asked for a check, I wasn't presented with a bill. I had to go to the register to pay where she presented the total, which took me by surprise. $16 for an omelette and a cup of coffee in a divey place. Turns out they also add 3% for using a credit card. Sorry, I won't be going back. There's another place I like much better about 5 minutes away.

Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure

Different cheesesteak #1,000 in the last four years. I love Jim T's cooking and this is old building. Mark Wahlburg filmed a movie here with M Night Shyamalan. Jim cooks a very good ribeye. When I go back I am going to get the ribeye in one of the other 5 menu items. Probably the cheesesteak omelette. Everything was good, for me it just didn't work as a cheesesteak. I don't hate kaiser rolls. It had a good amount of cheese surrounding the meat but I like it mixed together. Jim's ribeye doesn't really need mushrooms and onions but mushrooms and onions can enhance good ribeye. I would have liked more mushrooms and onions.

Meat Lovers Omelet, Home Fires, English Muffin, Sweet Tea
Shaniece L.

The food here was so good. I had the meat lovers omelet, home fries with onions, an English muffin and a sweet tea. Next time I'll try the sweet iced coffee. There was a wait but it wasn't too long. All of the staff was very welcoming and attentive. Defiantly will be back.

Sure it's oddly dated. Like a cross between my moms early 70's Colonial living room set and a 50's diner. I mean this in a nice nostalgic way. The service was pleasant and the owner has a really cute dog. The food was spot on. Crispy grilled cornbread, friend had a perfectly cooked omelette and I had bacon crispy and eggs with hash browns. It was all delicious . It's on the expensive side but breakfast is cheap even when it's expensive. Right by Valley Forge park so you can stop before or after.

Under new ownership. Friendly service with great breakfast menu. Seating by the fireplace, windows or counter.

Met my friend here for breakfast at what she affectionately calls the G Spot. Very old building with exposed wood beams. The bathrooms have the old heavy barn style doors with the metal latches that you have to lift up to get out. Very cool. The diner style seating adds a nice touch. Extensive menu with many items that I wanted to try like the strawberry cream cheese french toast, crepes, and banana walnut french toast. I chose the Island french toast that had pineapple, pecans, and coconut. I was served a very large portion and it was very good. Couldn't eat it all. My friend had the maui fruit salad which had blueberries, raspberries, bananas, and more! It came with yogurt on the bottom. My friend was pleased to hear she could get it with Greek yogurt. My friend ordered scrapple which shockingly, I have never had. I know, I'm from Pennsylvania Dutch country I should have had this many times before now. My mother certainly ate a lot of it! If you don't know what scrapple is, you probably don't want to know. However, I tried it and liked it! Go me! Our waitress, Karen, was lovely and kept our cups full of coffee and earl grey, my fav. Lunch items sounded good and if I was there for lunch, I would have had the pork roll. As a side note, the famous director my Indian friend calls Shamalamadingdong filmed a scene from The Happening here. If you haven't seen The Happening, don't. However, do stop at the G Spot for a bite to eat!

Fabulous quaint spot that was able to accommodate our large party. We had everything from scrapple to waffles to steaks and burgers. Worth the stop - eat

This has officially become one of my favorite brunch/breakfast places. Unfortunately, I live in NYC…read moreso I am not sure when I'll be back but the food was delicious! First, the restaurant is so cute. It's like you're transported to a teahouse! The staff are really friendly, and they let you know immediately that everything is farm to table. The eggs were a deep yellow so I knew it was the truth. If you go, definitely order the biscuits and the mimosa flight. The biscuits comes with 4 different spreads (fig jam, peach butter, strawberry butter, and a brown sugar butter). The biscuits were a good size, and my favorite spread was the fig jam. I wish I could have put some in a jar. The mimosa flight flavors are so fun. I was not a fan of the soursop but the lychee and passionfruit are really good. For the main dish, we tried the chicken & waffle and the tres leches French toast. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and was crispy. The French toast was actually on a croissant. I can't wait to come back here!

Stopped in for brunch after our Pilates instructor recommended this spot. It is super cute inside…read morewith lots of drink options. I went with an Arnold Palmer while everyone else got different coffees. I ordered the short rib grilled cheese (asked for no onions, but it came with them). The waitress was super nice about it and had it remade right away. The short rib was tender and really flavorful, and the salad and homemade chips on the side were great. The rest of the table got omelettes and enjoyed them too. Would definitely come back to try more of the menu.

From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming--it had that pure neighborhood feel that's hard to find these days. Add in great food, and it was the perfect start to our day. If you're looking for a local spot with a warm atmosphere and excellent breakfast, this place is a must. I was the only individual that wasn't recognized as a regular yet the cozy charm was still imbued amongst the service I received and I was still greeted enthusiastically. ENVIRONMENT Cute and cozy are the first words that come to mind when walking into the breakfast nook. The environment can best be described as the dining room of a cottage. There was ample seating and a sense of familiarity that instantly makes you feel at home. FOOD Bomb coffee!!!! I have to start there. While I was waiting for my food I heard several quips amongst the regulars about the quality of the coffee and I decided to take the dive myself. I was NOT disappointed. The other standouts were the turkey sausage and THE PANCAKES. There's no shortage of breakfast spots along Mainline both commercial and locally owned. Julie Anne's stands out for the warm environment and well-made comfort food. Happy eats!
