Used to like this place. Food hasn't been as good lately, but we still go. Until today. Towed mine and several other's cars away because we walked over to watch the Steam Train. Almost $400 to get it back and no help calling the number posted. Will NEVER go to any of those stores and shops again. read more

Update: Unfortunately, Spring Ford Diner isn't what it was 12 years ago. The coffee was fine, but one of the treats there was the liverwurst on rye; along with the pie, it was a great place to go for a special treat. This time, I saw that the liverwurst sandwich was a special, and didn't see it on the menu. What I got was a small sandwich (I'm pretty sure it wasn't so small in the past), with a single layer of liverwurst and a thick slice or two of onion. Awww! The last such sandwich I had definitely had more meat, but it also had a stack of thinly-sliced onions, which made the perfect crunch, and the perfect liverwurst sandwich. Unfortunately, the dessert isn't as good either. I ordered a delicious "upside-down peach cake," made in single servings. It's like a huge muffin with two extremely thin slices of peach on the top and that's it. It can't be expensive to put a decent amount of peaches on these, but it was a big disappointment. They did have some Shady Maple pies, but only a few. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to have breakfast or lunch there if I was in the neighborhood, but it's not a place I'll want to travel to again as I did in the past. 2/1/20. My son has been enjoying this restaurant but it's not right near me soo I don't think to go. Plus making a left out of this parking lot (towards where I live is almost impossible) anyway. . . I was visiting my son after I was working out with my future daughter in law at her gym super early and we were getting really hungry. We decided to go to go to Spring Ford Diner. Honestly if i hadn't heard it was good I wouldn't have bothered. It doesn't look very appealing from the exterior. It is in a very old, dumpy, run down looking scary shopping center. I wouldn't even consider walking around this strip mall alone at night- just sayin. I was pleasantly surprised. The smell of fresh cooking bacon and breakfast was wafting through the air when we arrived. The interior has beautiful flooring and spacious seating all in excellent condition. I was amazed and very taken with the clean simplicity of the restaurant.. The hostess promptly greeted and seated us. She asked if we wanted a table or booth and we opted for the booth. My behind had barely touched the booth seat and our waitress was offering drinks. THAT was AWESOME! She was an older lady and extremely attentIve. Friendly too. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with sauce on the side. It was only 6.99 and came with two eggs Benedict and breakfast potatoes and I added onions. Delicious!! Their kitchen knows how to execute! I noticed they have a table tent and have blueberry sugar free pie supplied by the one. The only. Shady Maple. Hubby is diabetic and we find sugar free apple pie but seldom blueberry so I ordered a piece to go for him and he loved it! I wouldn't hesitate to go back! Highly recommend! Food was and service have gone downhill. Upon entry the hostess asked our preference of table. We asked for a booth and the hostess asked the cashier were any booths available to which she rudely replied "I DONT KNOW" So the hostess went and checked herself and quickly seated us. Our waitress's attitude was horrible. From asking her a question during ordering and being abruptly told no. To being brought the wrong items and then being rudely told we should have ordered differently. Not offering to fix the issue. Even after we pointed out it was pictured differently on the menu. To make matters worse another table sat down next to us and order the same thing as us and she specifically asked them their preference when the same curstosy wasn't extended to us. After asking for a second time for the items to be fixed she visibly irritated agreed to bring the items we wanted. While waiting for a the correct items to come out two other waitress come by and one expressed how "F'ing annoying" customers are that we're "not doing anything but just sitting there". Our waitress finally brought our food but by that time time I'd lost my appetite. She offered to box my food to which I said no thank you and asked for my check. Then she proceeded to ask me why I didn't eat. To which I kindly responded and asked for the check again. Her said attempt at making things right was way to late. We proceeded to the cash register to check out and the same cashier was there with her same attitude. The others in my group felt the food was not very good and didn't finish their meals. Not terrible but not great. Food was average - somewhat bland. I'm not big on adding salt and pepper, but it needed something. Service was fair too, the employees were complaining about another customer next to us, which was extremely unprofessional, but I get it. We were sat almost immediately and the overall service was fast. Decor/covid: everyone was wearing a mask and the tables were cleaned between each party. As with all Diners, you need to apply this simple, but effective algorithm, which will help you decide if you should go, and what you should order... Do you want breakfast? Yes, get breakfast... Do you want lunch? Yes, but breakfast would be better... Do you want dinner? Yes, but order breakfast for dinner... I don't know any Diner's where I could recommend the dinner service, but breakfast all day is usually a no-brainer. I had a wonderful experience my first time here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The western omelette, with cheese, was quite tasty. My GF got poached eggs on toast...the eggs came out perfect. They have home fries, and cubed potatoes to offer... Service was good, but perhaps a little rough around the edges. Not rude, just not warm and friendly...everyone has an off day, and it didn't really impact our meal. My first time back to this diner in a while and what a change to the interior. It used to be dark and dingy but it has a fresh new look. Walls are bright and the horrid sticky carpet is gone. The new menus looked great. We got breakfast, which they serve all day. Love that! Not sure they updated the booth seats. I felt springs in my seat. All in all, I was pleased with the overall changes and that is evident in the continuously packed parking lot when I drive by. I think we will be headed back for breakfasts more often :) read more

The only reason why I gave any stars was because I had to give at least one star. I ordered a chopped steak medium well done. I got my food (it was warm and the gravy was almost solid it was so cold). After a few bites I saw my steak was fully pink in the middle. I called the waitress and she took it and threw it away. I asked if I ordered it wrong but it was reflected in my ticket that I wanted it medium well. I couldn't even finish my salad because my stomach hurt from eating raw meat. When I went to go pay for my meal they refused to remove the chopped steak from my order and only offered me 50% off (after having to call the boss). The host Ryan was very rude telling me it wasn't his problem and he didn't care about me giving a bad review. I'm beyond disappointed as this was my first time eating here and the diner had great reviews. However, the due to the poor level of service I received I will never be coming back here. My wife and I eat here every Saturday for breakfast and usually one other time a week for lunch/dinner. This is our favorite restaurant in the area. the food is consistently great! Breakfast is awesome all day! Their prices are great, and they have enough variety that you will probably have several favorites, as I do, such as their Downtown Special, Mediterranean Omelet, Banana pancakes, and the classic Eggs Benedict. Their lunches and dinners are also excellent. Most dinner entrees are big servings and come with a free soup and salad bar. Their salad bar, while not the biggest, is always fresh and of high quality. My wife loves the Chicken Supreme, my adult boys usually get sandwiches, such as their clubs and the Reuben. My son actually complains that there's too much corned beef on it! They have specials every day, too. My only complaint is that they rarely have breakfast specials. read more

Avoid! Typical diner food served by inexperienced staff and rude management. We ordered a Cheeseburger and Fries to go after we were finished eating and waited and waited and waited. I actually went next door and washed my car and waited another 20 minutes until we finally asked for it to be removed from the check so we could get out of there. Then we had to listen to the manager and cook complain about us for another 5 minutes before any attempt was made to remove the still unmade item. Finally after waiting in a long line to pay the check, we had to listen to the same manager complaining to the cashier in front of all of the customers how she can't get any cleaning done because too many people were there. I placed an order with Door Dash and the order was completely wrong. I called the restaurant and mentioned that the order was wrong to the man who answered the phone. He was extremely rude! I asked if I could please come and get the correct order and drove to the restaurant. The man once again was rude and told me the lady who got my order together gave me the correct order and that he didn't have the kitchen remake my order. He told me to go home and get my order which I did. When I arrived back the man completely ignored me and the lady looked at my bag and apologized. The downside is, the foot traffic thru the dining area for customers going to the salad bar located at the far corner of the dining area was annoying. Well, I have to apologize to our normal breakfast joint but I had to do it. They were closed today due to the snow and we had no choice. I'm a very loyal customer to our normal breakfast spot so now I feel like I cheated on my girlfriend with another. However, sometimes you are just forced to put your fork into another's pancakes. And today was that day. I was told about a month ago about this place but never really saw the point in going here. My favorite place was a few blocks closer so there was no need to cross the bridge and enter into the forbidden wasteland known as Spring City. This morning we had no choice though. And to be honest, I'm glad I did. We both ordered the #7 Spring Ford special. That's two pancakes or french toast, two eggs, and two pieces of sausage or bacon. Not bad for $7. Add in a side of hash browns and I was all set. The pancakes were great. Light, fluffy and with just enough crust on em. My eggs were also cooked exactly as I asked them to be (over easy) and the hash browns were nice and crispy on the outside the way they should be made. The service was great too. For a diner breakfast or brunch, this is terrific. Very good quality food, healthy portions, good friendly attentive service, broad menu, lots of space, quick check-out, easy parking. One of my favorite places in PA! Decided to come here before visiting Pennhurst. We were on a time crunch and had less than 45 min to eat and be out. The staff was accommodating seeing as we had a large party of 10. We were expecting below average and got the opposite! This place was delicious! I can't remember what everyone else had but the crabwich sandwich that I had was great! It was fresh and served on Texas style toast with fries and a pickle. They also had a soup and salad bar worth the purchase of an entree. It was small but good. I had a cup of lobster bisque with visible pieces of lobster and a fresh salad spread with all the fixins including bread and butter. We worked all day and were in the area around 7pm on a Tuesday night. I was starving to the point of falling over. Yelp to the rescue! This was the restaurant closest to our location at the time and off we went! Upon entry we realized as middle agers we were the youngest clientele in there - no worries! We didn't feel out of place and were quickly seated. The décor was what was expected of a family restaurant - cozy with lots of wood. The fall decorations were tasteful and not overdone. There were a few areas that could have used an overhaul - as one Yelper mentioned the carpet was dirty, but not extreme. Our Formica table top was cracked in several places, and in the ladies room the toilet tank was held in place by a bungee cord. Not sure what that was all about.... But at this point we would have ate off the concrete! With bellies growling we made our selections from the menu. It had a good variety of sandwiches, wraps, soups, and meals. The selection was vast but not overkill. It was what one would expect from a family type dining establishment. We both choose different sandwich "melts" because we wanted something quick so we could make the long trek home. Our food arrived in the normal amount of time and was made perfectly. Each sandwich was grilled and gooey. My turkey melt consisted of carved turkey and not processed lunchmeat which was filling and fresh. We each had a side of battered fries (good, but obviously from frozen) and were supposed to get a side of coleslaw - which we had to ask for. While I felt my portion size was adequate hubby was slightly disappointed. In fact I think aside from maintenance issues service was probably my biggest gripe. Our waitress was not warm and friendly - but rather cold and to the point. I had to ask twice for mayo despite there only being one other patron in her section. I had to ask for the coleslaw although it was included. We had to ask for the check. We didn't get water refills like we should of. It wasn't horrible, just wasn't extraordinary either. Food was good but not special. Obviously a place that caters to older clients where everyone knows each other - good for them and good for us in a pinch. WORTH MENTIONING: we paid with a credit card and handwrote the tip however we were not offered a copy. Red flags go up immediately when that happens. Fortunately I asked for one, as it is easy for them to transpose what you wrote. After reading the non-recommended reviews there was mention of one customer who added a cash tip to the table only to have the cashier add another to his card w/out his consent. IF PAYING WITH A CREDIT CARD INSIST ON A RECEIPT! Although him and I might be an isolated case it's better to be safe than sorry! read more
