Yuck! I ate at First Watch today. I ordered the avocado toast. It tasted rancid. I called my server over and said to her, this went bad sometime yesterday. She said, "I'm sorry we didn't get our delivery on time this morning, there have been a number of complaints today about it." Are you f-ing kidding me?!?!?! The restaurant knew the product was spoiled and still served it to me?!?!?!? Who does that?!?!? I went to First Watch today, a Tuesday, with my grandmother for a late breakfast. Noon = lunch time = packed like it's Saturday morning. We waited 15 minutes for a table, no big deal. We were then seated and waited an additional 15 minutes to even be acknowledged. Others seated after us were taken care of almost immediately. NOT a good feeling. I made eye contact with the hostess and signaled to her that we were still waiting and not too happy at this point. She then got our server, who quickly apologized and asked if we were ready to order. Yes, we'd have enough time to read the menu several times over so we were more than ready. We finally got our coffee and placed our order. The food was delicious as always. I got the Farmhouse Skillet with scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, avocado, tomatoes, and cheese. It comes with a small side of fruit and toast with jam. No complaints about the food as this is my go-to First Watch meal. It's always great to find a good brunch place close by. This is no exception. I've especially come to like all the little farm to table type places that keep popping up. The rustic look of the restaurant and friendly staff is very welcoming. I could do without the "mainline attitudes" around me but that is no fault of the restaurant. The complimentary coffee while waiting for your table is a nice touch. BTW, expect to wait about twenty minutes during peak breakfast time. The place isn't huge and is clearly popular. Really enjoyed the salmon frittata I ordered and the fact you aren't charged for every substitution you make. I was able to get egg whites and potatoes in lieu of a salad for no upcharge - thumbs up! I came here for brunch on Sunday 3/24/24. After checking in and being told it'll be a 10-20 minute wait and we'll be called to get seated. I watch a bunch of people going front of me to get seated. So after waiting 35 minutes I went back to the hostess who didn't put me on the list at all so everyone skipped over me and then was told I'd have to wait another 40 minutes before being seated. Great breakfast place near Nova! I've been coming here for the past couple of years and I absolutely love the food. It has all the classic brunch dishes, but it is slightly more expensive that the nearby brunch spots. The only problem is the wait time. The whole process of waiting to be seated, to order, to eat, and to pay is abnormally long. There is a new way to check-in on Yelp or on other similar apps, which speeds up the process. However the wait to order and get the food is still very long. Lastly, when you head to the counter to pay, there is always a line. The host that seats you also takes care of the payments. The bright side is that there is free coffee while you wait! There's a dispenser near the entrance with sugar and creamer. read more

I'm glad to see there's a First Watch in PA. We loved it in Florida, so when we saw it pop up in PA, we had to stop by. It's in a nice strip with easy access to parking. Bright and clean inside the restaurant. The hostess could've used a smile, and shown some type of acknowledgement upon our arrival other than just giving us a stare down. Thankfully someone else came over, did the greeting and brought us to our table (which helped bumped it up to a four star). Seated rather quickly (we arrived 9ish). Our waitress was nice and friendly. Food was fresh, portion just enough. My daughters pancake off the kids menu was huge! she ate probably a 1/4 of it, way too much for her.. Didn't have to wait too long for our food to come out as some of the previous yelpers had mentioned. But again, we did go around 9ish, before the crowd hit. I don't know if that makes a difference. We also noticed how some of the staff actually wipe down the baby highchairs!! That's something we haven't seen in many restaurants! So kudos to them! read more

This place is pretty cool. Similar to Panera but with waitress service. Actually, when I was eating my turkey club with bacon and avocado, I thought I was at Panera and had to remind myself that I wasn't. The club is exactly, and I mean exactly, like the one at Panera right down to the untoasted bread. Untoasted bread on clubs and BLTs is a pet peeve of mine, so I will have to remember to ask for it to be toasted next time. I had the combo so I got to try the Sweet Honey Pecan Salad as well, and it was pretty fabulous. I'm pretty sure it was the warm honey mustard dressing that was on it. Yum!!! The combo was a pretty good deal for just under eight bucks. Loved the decor in the place - cool lighting fixtures, different wood tones, nice furniture in pretty colors. The service was good but it did take a little while for the food to come out. Overall, it was a good first time visit and we will definitely be going back. read more

We never had a designated waitress, as two waitresses brought food and drinks to us while we dined. Our experience felt very rushed. Several times we had to request things like extra plates or napkins while our waitress walked by; never stopping. When the meal was over, our check was brought without asking us if we wanted anything else. Not a huge deal, but I wasn't able to request another coffee to go. First watch was installed in Whitehall on Rt. 51, the northbound side, just north of the cloverleaf. When it moved in a few years ago, I kept telling myself that I really should stop in to check it out, as there is nothing quite like it anywhere near by. I finally stopped in with the family yesterday, and I was not disappointed. A breakfast-brunch-lunch eatery, the menu is packed full of well described, easily understood meal options, complete with appetizers and coarses. The ambiance is that of a rustic farm house, but with modern industrial-architectural elements such as reclaimed wood table tops, meeting bare steel chairs. The coffee is excellent, and I point this out because a lot of breakfast places get the food, the dining room, and the menu right, but forget all about the quality of the coffee. It seems like a minor thing, but if the coffee isn't right, it sets a tone for the rest of the breakfast dining experience, for the negative. I had such high expectations for this place after reading the reviews but sadly it just didn't measure up. There was a very long wait on a Sunday afternoon, as expected for Sunday brunch. Although we had joined the waitlist via yelp, they were unable to find our name on the list and we had to start over when we arrived. There are nice benches outside to wait on though. The atmosphere is very nice! It is open, clean, and rustic with lots of room between tables and an open kitchen in the back. The menu was extensive and they had several creative menu items and specials that sounded delicious and interesting! We did like the carrot ginger chai they had as a special. From there, our experience went downhill. We waited a very long time once seated to both place our orders and then to get our food. Our waiter was a bit clumsy and dropped several utensils, etc during our meal, including dunking the handle of a coffee pot into one of our drinks! When prompted, he agreed to replace the drink, but it was odd that he didn't initially offer. The food itself was mediocre at best. All of our eggs were cold and tasted as if they were microwaved rather than made fresh. My meal came with avocado which was mostly brown. The bacon was very unevenly cooked with some raw areas and some overcooked areas. The portions were random - while I had lots of eggs, my friend's plate was pretty sparse. Overall, it was a disappointed experience. The ambiance and menu are so great, but the food and service just don't measure up at this point. read more

My family and i had a great experience here! We came around noon for brunch on a Sunday. Definitely recommend joining the waitlist on the yelp app before you arrive. We didn't know this was a thing until we arrived, but only ended up waiting about 20 minutes for our table. Our server was super sweet and our food came out quickly and hot. The donut holes are to die for and are the perfect shareable starter. Three of us at the table got the farmhouse skillet and loved it! My mom got the biscuits and gravy and it was super yummy too. Had THE worst service ever that I can recently recall. Came in at the tail end of the lunch rush and seated immediately. Waiter approached us immediately and took our drink order much to the consternation of a nearby table- mom, dad and young child- who were obviously seated before us. It took 45 minutes to get our food from the time we ordered. Had a view of the kitchen line and witnessed disorganized and slow cooking line. Waiters standing around talking to each other while waiting for their orders while a dozen tables were left unbussed. Cooks staring at tickets and discussing. Counted 8 ticket up there at once and four cooks behind the line... slow. Sitting across from tables now that have been partially bussed twice and still not clean. Mentioned the issues at the host stand and one of the two staff there said "There's one manager on and he can't manage much at all..." Do yourself a favor and skip this place altogether. This place is becoming a tradition whenever I pick up and drop off our son at Villanova. It's a short jaunt from campus and the breakfasts are top notch. I usually opt for the 1/2 sandwich + soup combo at a reasonable $8. If you are feeling breakfasty, the buckwheat pancake is huge and tasty. Don't skip the side of million dollar bacon, which is 4 thick strips of bacon with brown sugar and lots of pepper. Sweet and spicy. Apparently there is an app now where you can virtually wait in line before you get there. Very helpful as the weekend wait can be substantial. read more

The first red flag was the bowl of International Delight branded coffee creamers at the table... I started my meal off with one of their juices. I love a good fresh, healthy juice but this one just too sweet. My fault for ordering a juice with agave. Next time I would skip on the sweetener. My husband and I split the AM Superfoods Bowl and Ricotta Pancakes. The superfoods bowl consisted of fresh fruit and granola over chia pudding with a side of toast with almond butter. Everything was SO SWEET. I often make chia pudding at home and this one was just loaded with sugar. The pancakes were overcooked and dry, which was sad because ricotta pancakes are usually so light and fluffy! I thought the prices were decent, our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was fun and crowded (in a good way). I loved the lemon pancake with blueberry but didn't love it all the way lol first bite was like wow then as I moved on to the second pancake the lemon taste was not there... it taste like London puppy seed cake but as pancake! 2nd time I've been to first watch. 1st was a great experience - quick service, fresh, great food. Today was a different story. Waited only 5 minutes to get a table but then nearly an hour to get tacos, a pancake, and a veggie burger. Drinks were great - had a kale tonic and morning meditation which came out quick. Tacos were solid but unfortunately had 2 small hairs on the plate which were under the salad and one of the tortillas. Pancake came out hard as a rock so ended up sending that back and the waitress decided to comp the whole thing which was unexpected. I usually never complain but the pancake was inedible. I overheard they comped a few other tables around us that waited an hour+ for their food. From other reviews and my personal experience it looks like this place struggles a bit when its packed. After several months of working in the area I decided to stop into first watch. I'm more of a quick breakfast type of girl so I usually head over to the Starbucks next door but this morning I wanted something a little more special. I ordered a BLTE (BLT + Egg) which was actually bigger than I expected, but for $10, it better had been that big. I really wish they toasted the bread on it though (but that's personal preference). It came with a nice small side Salad which Im saving for lunch. Overall the experience was good, the ingredients in the food tasted fresh & I was in and out the restaurant for takeout.
