What a wonderful surprise! Tonight was our second visit to the restaurant and the sushi was so good both visits it prompted a review :) We had the sushi happy hour combo both visits and tried the...spider roll I believe...and the volcano roll tonight. Both were divine, very fresh and such good flavor. We have only tried the sushi and some appetizers but everything was delicious. The atmosphere and friendly service are 5 stars as well. When I first arrived we were instantly greeted by a very friendly hostess. We were seated at a Hibachi table and our drink orders were taken. The restaurant was very clean. Our server brought us our drinks very quickly and took our orders. Our hibachi cook arrived and he was fantastic. Great personality and very good at what he does. I ordered the chicken and steak. The food was amazing and more than I could eat. Seasoning was right on and cooked to perfection. Overall this was a great experience and if I come back through this town I will definitely be going back. read more

100% better then Tokyo the chef actually new what he was doing on the grill. Didn't just bang his utensils on the grill he put on a decent show. For the price you get way more food then at Tokyo and their yum yum sauce has a better flavor. read more

We LOVE this place! My husband and I cam here for a date night and fell in love with ebery piece of food that hit our stummochs. The sushi is fresh and so very good as well as the soup and warm food! Ordered take out. Two different dishes that my wife and I shared. Both dishes were overcooked. Rice was not fresh. Shrimp was way over cooked chewy and hard, the spring roll was hard and had virtually nothing in it. This is a newly opened restaurant....won't last long serving the crap we were served this evening. Called to complaint the next day. The Manager didn't offer to compensate for the terrible meal. So much for service recovery. read more

Showed up at 12 minutes to 7 (happy hour ends @7) was seated & no waiter would come to the table till after 7 & we were told happy hour was over. 30 minutes before order was taken & when the food finally came, there was 1 order of the 5 that was not ready. The other 4 waited 15 minutes & started eating. We were done eating before 5th meal showed up & We asked for it "to go". We then had to go to the cashier to get our check only to discover a "mandatory" 18% gratuity added. $190.00 for an average meal & poor service for 5 people.....First & last time We will dine there. read more

Overpriced for what they serve. We had a dinner on Sunday afternoon, I was very hungry as I love Japanese food, unfortunately everything we ordered were just one or 2 pieces, so tiny, and we needed to order more and the noodles are not Japanese noodles they brought us ramen soup and very spicy. Was unfortunate as I was hungry and I was still hungry after many orders. The bill was overpriced, the taste was nice, but is not worth to pay that much for the amount of food you get. Hibachi salmon and NY steak came with fried rice, noodles, salad and house soup. All very good but a little on the salty side. Well sized portions (a well known trend in the great state of TX) and decent prices. Dinner mates had udon w chicken and teriyaki chicken. We all left stuffed and satisfied. read more

I travel in my line of work and come to the Lufkin/Nacogdoches area twice a year and was happy to see the shady Chinese buffet gone replaced by a Japanese hibachi/sushi bar. Beautiful decor and friendly service but sadly the quality of hibachi in the dining area was lacking. I wasn't a fan of the square plate where every item was quarantined into its own section. It felt as though I was eating from a TV dinner and prevented me from mixing items together. I ordered the steak and shrimp and can honestly say the steak was off. As, on the verge of being rotten, obvious from its sour almost gamey taste. I had more than enough food (if not due ordering hibachi AND sushi) and the shrimp was great but that steak was horrendous of which I could only eat three bites. I didn't want to cause any issues so I didn't say anything (which I regret) even though the steak nearly ruined my appetite. Where I live in the N. GA/S. TN area there is no shortage of Japanese restaurants with at least 15 of these types of restaurants in the area and I have been eating at Japanese restaurants for 30 years with eating at nearly 100 different establishments so I have seen every trick imaginable at a hibachi grill and have learned what to level of quality to expect. I might be willing to give it another try but I'm not sure when I think about that steak. read more

I really wanted to like this place but I had very bad experience last time I visited. Two servers came to take our drink order, the first one disappeared after he brought the waters while we clearly said and were looking at drinks menu. The 2nd server reappeared 15 minutes later to take our order. As I was telling what I wanted she told me to wait a minute and went back to do other stuff such as brining other people's drinks and answering a phone call. 5 minutes later she comes back and when I mention how long we've waited she says it's just 2 people working and they're under stress!! The place was not crowded, 3 tables at sushi area and I could see more people working clearly. It's not how you treat customers. The food was also bland, though I must say they put a lot of taste on presentation but that's about it. Won't be returning here. read more

My husband and I went out for a very enjoyable meal. We had steak and shrimp Habachi cooked to perfection. I ordered the best hot and sour soup I have ever tasted. The restaurant was especially crowded at the multiple habachi grills and ours was the last one seated. We had to wait for an available chef to cook our food. The wait staff explained the wait and offered the table 2 free sushi dishes while we waited for our chef. The chef was very entertaining and paid extra attention to the child at the table with us to make sure she enjoyed her food too. All in all I would highly recommend this restaurant to friends and family or any one wanting an enjoyable evening out. read more

My first time coming to this place, and didn't really know what to expect. The menu is pretty extensive with many options and great variety. My brother and I both enjoyed our options; he had the "Wonderful Roll" and I had the "Rocky Roll." It has a good atmosphere and nice people. I would recommend to anyone. read more

Searching for a sushi place. We picked this one for good reviews. We gave it a shot. It was a huge disappointment!! The customer service was awful. We waited 30 min for our sushi. I waited about 15 for just a alcoholic drink. The cups smelled like they have not been washed properly. So I stopped drinking my water and ordered a different drink. The sushi kept falling apart and it looked like the waiter cared more for his bigger tables than us. Worst experience and would not go back there again. read more

Ambience and decor are really nice. Half sushi bar, half hibachi with plenty of cooking tables and space. The sushi was very good. The hibachi chefs were noticeably more entertaining and friendly than the other local hibachi spot in town. The hibachi food was average/good. Good menu selection. I will go again. Only real complaint is their table soy sauce tastes like 10% soy sauce 90% other flavors (like Worcester?). read more

Order a LARGE to-go order and get back and the food is not right. 3 people they left the order off completely but charged for it. The manager admitted to shorting the sushi but they shorted the chicken hibachi twice. Went back to get missing food and still no food for the missing people. I will not be returning. read more

Best Asian Cuisine in Lufkin. I like it better than Toyokos. Toyokos is good too. This place has better food and decor. Udon noodles are always fresh, made order and really good. The various different sushi rolls are good. Don't be afraid to try if you in Lufkin. read more
