Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo
Jimmy K.

My wife and I have been coming here since we were SFA students over 20 years ago. It's a nice place for a romantic Italian dinner. We visited on Valentine's Day and took our daughter. We had a 30 min wait for our table of 3. The table tops were covered with pink paper, which my daughter loved. My wife ordered a Bellini but the waitress forgot to bring it out until the meal came. My wife's meal was also delayed coming out, so my daughter and I waited for hers to come out before eating (5-7 min). My daughter enjoyed her spaghetti and meatballs. I enjoyed my chicken fettuccine Alfredo. My wife loved her spicy pasta once it came out. Service was slow, but it was a busy night. Definitely worth checking out.

Quite underwhelming. The started bread was great. Freshly baked and perfectly crispy. The rest of the food was just okay. I felt that the food in general lacked seasoning and it was just meh. Our server was really great though-very friendly and quick. This restaurant definitely had a family vibe to it so it's a good choice with kids. I don't know that it's worth returning to, but I don't regret dining here.

The menu has some great choices, I am curious about the meatloaf (bc of one review on it saying it's iffy and that's what I wanted). I am going with the wedge salad and pizza italiano TOGO, simple and you can order quickly at the bar. The place is busy on a Saturday night but it looks like there is plenty of space to accommodate lots of large groups. There are tv screens at the bar playing sports. Lots of parking. On a last note, I wish we could have ate here after coming in and seeing the huge patio. Makes me think I could bring my dogs. But yeah Sophia offered loaf bread with my togo order which makes this as close to dine in experience as possible from the hotel. Above and beyond! Someone update the meatloaf review, I wnna know!

Plenty of parking, ADA Compliant, plenty of seating and the food is not too bad. We've dined here for many times over the past 10 years and nothing has changed, which is probably good considering the customer base. But, at the end of the day, change is good and this place could use a deep clean and updated decor.

So good!!!! They have the best spaghetti, Bolognese I have ever had. It's also such a pretty place to go for a nicer date night!

This restaurant is highly recommended in the Nacogdoches area, but I don't agree. I came in here after a long drive expecting some good food and a nice experience. Starting off, the place is super cold and wasn't very pleasing to be in. The tables were nice and spacious and chairs were pretty comfortable. When our waiter came, he was very patient and knew his way around the menu. The menu is full of options and very inviting. I took the colizzi combo as that's what is said to be popular. It comes with lasagna, fettuccine alfredo, and chicken alfrado. The pasta was overall good but it was dry and not super flavorful. I also ordered italian raspberry soda which was delicious. This place is called american-italian but there was just too much mix of american and not much usual italian flavors. I don't think I would come here again but it is a good spot depending on what you order!

Nice ambience. Nice staff. I don't remember what we got but it was meh. The bread dipping sauce seasoning was just overfried garlic pieces.

Food was ok. Prices seemed a bit high and menu was lacking variety. Tables are a bit close to one another.

Onion rings are one of the hub's favorites so off we went. The restaurant is located inside an old railroad warehouse and it has a very rustic atmosphere. You can feel the history ooze from the building's pores as you slide into your seat and get ready to take in the nice sized menu selections. I had a few items picked out from different sections and Zyra our waitress helped me make the best choice. We started out with the onion rings with ranch dressing and we DEVOURED THEM! We both chose the blackened catfish and were both very pleased. The fillets were perfectly cooked with nice seasoning and topped with pico de gallo. The pico added some much welcome acidity and zestiness to the dish. I ordered the pinto beans and crispy new potatoes and they were all superb. We enjoy stopping in Nacogdoches and soaking up the history and great food that the oldest town in Texas has to offer! We will definitely return to Clear Springs. There are way too many items on that menu that I need to enjoy!

Good Food, Laid-Back Atmosphere, but Smoking Outside Was a Problem…read more The restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere, making it a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy a meal. I ordered the chicken-fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, seasonal vegetables, a small side salad, and coconut cream pie to go. Overall, the food was pretty good. The side salad was actually delicious! It tasted fresh and wasn't dry like some salads can be. My only caution is that the bacon bits were extremely hard. If you have sensitive teeth or dental issues, you may want to skip them. The main dish was good as well. I especially enjoyed the mashed potatoes, which had chunks of actual potatoes, and the gravy was tasty. The chicken-fried chicken could have been a little flatter, but it was still flavorful, especially with the gravy. The seasonal vegetables were okay, although they were a bit too watery for my liking. I also ordered the coconut cream pie to go. It was pretty good, but I've had better at other restaurants. My biggest complaint, however, was the smoking right outside the front doors. As we were leaving, people were smoking so close to the entrance that I could barely breathe. I kept telling my family to walk faster because I could only hold my breath for so long, especially after eating a full meal. It was ridiculous to have to deal with that just to leave the restaurant. People should not be smoking right next to the entrance where customers are entering and exiting. If you choose to smoke, at least have the courtesy to move away from the doors and the waiting area so others like children don't have to walk through a cloud of smoke. The food was enjoyable overall, and the laid-back atmosphere was a plus. However, the experience of leaving the restaurant was unpleasant. Management really needs to address the smoking issue.

My wife and I came to try…read moresomething new because we'd heard that their fried green tomatoes were good, they are fantastic by the way, but we had no idea it was a catfish place. My wife is not big on catfish, she got burnt out on it after working cafe's for years; anyways we gave it a go. Now the menu can be a little pricey but they have lunch specials and poboys so it's offset that way so don't be discouraged. We got the appetizers sampler with fried green tomatoes and mushrooms and they were fantastic the tomatoes were great, not greasy still firm and delicious. The catfish is large filets, lightly battered, excellently seasoned, cooked perfectly not greasy nice and flaky. This is the best catfish I've had in the Nacogdoches Lufkin area for some time now y'all. They make their own tarter sauce and it's really good. The shrimp are huge, delicious and their cocktail sauce has a nice zing of horseradish. They have delicious crab cakes you have got to try, the flavor is amazing a nice buttery crab taste that just melts in your mouth. One of the nice things was that our food though pretty much all fried didn't come out drowning in grease. So for the best Catfish you're going to find in the area and some of the best add-ons to go with it check out Sam's!

However I ordered a to-go order of 2 piece fish/ 2 shrimp from here, and my fish was rubbery , my hush puppies were over cooked, and my shrimp seemed to be fried in flour and had a very off putting color and texture, I believe because they fried the shrimp in a flour batter and not cornmeal???( WHY)?? Also the coleslaw was watery.. In the same order was an order of lemon pepper chicken that looked dreadful and over fried in a very dark color....( weird) not looking at all like lemon pepper wings I've ever had before. And a burnt piece of bread/ biscuit or whatever it was.. Sadly I will not be back...
