My first time here. The line was long but moved very quickly. Line was inside nothing like lines at Franklin. The Blueberry Ribs were daily special. Perfection is best description. The Brisket had great smoke ring and was delicious as well. Potato salad was good but nothing spectacular. Jalapeño corn was tasty but wife makes a better version. It needs more seasoning. It's still a tasty side. They definitely meet the standard for Top Texas Barbecue joint. Ice tea is definitely up to standard. A great tea to complement your outstanding meal!
We had heard so many great things about this place that we had to give it a try while we were in town. When we arrived, there was a short line, but it moved quickly. The restaurant was clean, well-maintained, and had a welcoming atmosphere. Once we reached the counter, the staff greeted us warmly and had our order ready in no time. The drink station was also clean and well-stocked, and we quickly found a seat to enjoy our meal. Everything was presented nicely and looked absolutely delicious. The ribs were the standout for me--tender, juicy, and nearly falling off the bone. They were so flavorful that I didn't even need BBQ sauce. My wife really enjoyed the moist brisket, and we both loved the mac and cheese. The half chicken was well-seasoned and stayed juicy, while the sausage had great flavor and a satisfying snap. The only reason for four stars instead of five was a couple of the side dishes. We tried the jalapeño cream corn, which used pickled jalapeños. The flavor was a little unusual for our taste, though it may simply be a style we aren't accustomed to. The potato salad was also more tart than we expected. That said, we still finished everything on our plates! Overall, it was a great experience with excellent barbecue, friendly service, and a clean dining area. We'll definitely stop by Brendyn's again when we're in the area. Go check them out
I stopped here after. It was their anniversary, so they had live music and free peach cobbler. Got brisket loaded Mac and cheese, a poblano popper, and duck boy in. I appreciated the variety and the hospitality. Food was great, service was warm.
Ohmygoodness.....you guys.....this place was even better this time! We arrived during the lunch rush on Christmas Eve EVE and Santa Claus even showed up! We ordered ourselves a little sampler this time of sausage, pulled pork, brisket, potato salad, cream corn, pinto beans, and the Marvelous Taco. They really knock it out of the park with the brisket and pulled pork. The sausage had the very satisfying snap and was very tasty. There is a good smoke level on everything and I cannot wait to return. We had a magnificent time standing in line and visiting with everyone, including Santa! I would like to mention also that this place is very clean and has clean restroom. The staff here are super friendly and a lot of fun to visit with.
Worth the 45 minute drive for sure! Family of four and we had: ribs, brisket/sausage sandwich and loaded potato (largest we have ever seen!) Very generous portions and the meat was spot on. Everything we had was perfect to be honest. Will definitely be going back!
This place is amazing. Clean, with plenty of tables inside. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, fantastic smoked meats, sides, and a killer banana pudding. Got a quarter pound of fatty brisket, quarter pound of pork ribs, and jalapeño creamed corn. The brisket was easily cut with a plastic fork, that tender. The creamed corn was one of my favorite bbq sides I've had at any restaurant. Review wouldn't be complete without mentioning the banana pudding... it was almost a cream cheese consistency, killer flavor and taste. Truly 12/10 dessert.
Definitely earned its spot on the top 50! Pit master Leanne is happy to go over the menu, offer samples and make suggestions. Jalapeños wrapped in candied bacon is also a must try. Be ready for spicy! Try one of the menu sandwiches or customize your own! BYOB.
People are friendly and food is delicious . The price is reasonable and you gotta try the loaded Mac.

Rib perfect spot that is a my favorite spot in Texas, just for the walkable town that lead me to this place. Ribs have a nice softer bark with a flavor that needa no sauce, but their is great. Smaller eatery that you order at the counter and they bring it to you, you will see everything ordered by others and wish you had more belly room. Friendly staff who recommended items. The only thing I had issue was the banana pudding, it seemed beat to death bit there was (I could be wrong) chunks of cream cheese in it....what!? I ate my wafers stuck on top and called it a loss on dessert but a fabulous meal win. read more
What a treat! Service and atmosphere: The staff were nice and served customers fast. The restaurant is spacious enough, clean, well organised and nicely decorated. The building outside looks clean and inviting. Food: The BBQ items we ordered and tried were outstanding! Brisket and ribs were succulent and very well seasoned. The meats paired well with their signature sauce. Let's not forget sausage. It had great texture and flavours. Tasted like typical Polish sausage. If you're in Nacogdoches you have to go to Brendyn's BBQ. If you have a car, you need to get there soon if you are BBQ lover! We arrived around 1pm on a Saturday so we were sweating that a place that was on the 2025 Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ joints list may have a line or worse be sold out Lucky for us we arrived to front row parking and a short line inside the door. Super nice folk! Matt is one of the pit masters and was leading the cutting line for us. We pretty much had rehearsed our order as we had plenty of time to study the menu. Brisket, Ribs, Sausage, jalapeno poppers, and potato salad. The brisket was near perfection with a deep smoke ring, moist, tender, well-rendered, simply seasoned, with an excellent crust that had slight crunch. Ribs were also fantastic - meaty, smoky, and slightly sweet. Sausage was some of the best I've had this year. Potato salad was a memorable, creamy mustard style for us potato salad junkies. The restaurant seating is not big area but they have plenty of covered outdoor-seating. Lots of fun signage to gawk at too. Our bonus was a personalized pit tour with Matt. The staff was friendly and helpful, it's got a great atmosphere, and the food was phenomenal. I got the Garebear with jalapeno cream corn and they are both incredible. I finished with the best banana pudding I've had anywhere. I highly recommend it. read more

"Brendyn's BBQ didn't just stick the landing; they brisket-bombed my taste buds into orbit." TL;DR: Hot honey burnt ends that light up your soul like a backyard fireworks finale. Ribs seasoned with authority. Poppers that balance creamy heat and smoky crunch. Slaw with personality. And banana pudding so divine we finished it before a photo could be taken. Stamp twenty-one, secured. Stop number four. The East Texas BBQ blitz kept rolling, fueled by smoke, ambition, and just enough belly room to tempt fate. Big D and I had logged two stellar joints already, got turned away at stop three (sold out), and now we were heading into the final leg with hope and hunger in the tank. We arrived at Brendyn's BBQ just after 3 PM, the kind of timing that lets you stroll in calm but still chase greatness. One lone customer ahead of us, then we stepped up to the counter. The crew was sharp, friendly, and fully locked into their craft. Once they heard about our road trip and passport stamp quest, the energy kicked up a notch. Pitmaster Brendyn Todd was out, but the pit was in the expert hands of head pitmaster Leanne Perkins, who kept things humming like a well-tuned offset smoker. We came for the Hot Honey Burnt Ends, and we got them, glistening like gold nuggets in a pool of sweet fire. We added a couple of pork ribs, two bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers stuffed with seasoned cream cheese, a side of slaw (Leanne's top pick), and a couple slices of white bread to soak up the glory. The feast: Burnt Ends: Deep char, sticky glaze, buttery texture. These didn't meet expectations, they body-slammed them through the table. Ribs: Confident seasoning, ideal bite, and a rich smoke profile that lingered just long enough to be polite. Poppers: Balanced heat, rich filling, and that candied bacon crunch made them the sleeper hit of the tray. Slaw: Bright and crisp, with red and green cabbage holding their own in a creamy dressing that didn't drown the texture. Then came a surprise worthy of fireworks: the staff brought out banana pudding on the house. No heads-up, no warning. Just layers of fresh banana, silky pudding, and most important of all, the vanilla wafers served on the side, exactly how I like it. I don't do soggy. If the wafer can't hold formation, it doesn't belong on my spoon. We didn't bring anything home. My wife told me before we left, "Don't bring any leftovers home today." So like a fool, I listened. Terrible decision. That banana pudding was the best I've ever eaten. The bowl was cleared before I could even think about a photo. It vanished so fast, it was like we were trying to hide the evidence. We wrapped it up with a tour of the pits and a photo with Leanne. Stamp count: 21 down, 29 to go. Final word: This place deserves a detour, a reroute, or a pilgrimage. Whatever it takes. Dad Sign-off: I told my wife I didn't bring her any banana pudding. She said, "That's fine." If you're searching for some of the best barbecue in Texas, look no further. This place lives up to its Texas Monthly Top 50 award, and it's easy to see why. We visited on a Tuesday right when it opened, and it was already filling up with happy patrons. The ample parking and friendly staff made for a great start to the meal. The Meats The brisket had a delicious salt and pepper bark with a nice crust. While it could have been a bit more moist, the rich, smoky flavor was on point and a great representation of a classic Texas brisket. The ribs were a definite standout. They had a beautiful, deep smoke ring and came clean off the bone with a perfect pull, not just falling apart. The dry rub bark was fantastic, allowing the natural smoky flavor of the meat to shine. Both of the sausages were excellent. The house sausage was juicy with a satisfying snap to the casing and a nice peppery kick. The boudin sausage packed a great spicy flavor without being overly filled, which can often make boudin greasy. The Sides & Appetizers We also tried a couple of the unique sides and appetizers. The jalapeño poppers were a pleasant surprise. I usually prefer a protein filling, but the cream cheese had a wonderfully flavorful and creamy texture that won me over. The jalapeño crème corn was another highlight--incredibly creamy with a tangy, spicy kick from the pickled jalapeños mixed throughout. Overall, this barbecue joint is a must-visit. We stopped by this place for lunch. The service is outstanding. The staff is so incredibly helpful. I enjoyed the sausage but it wasn't as juicy as I like but the flavor was on point. The jalapeño poppers were smoked and seasoned beautifully. The brisket was on point and delicious. But my favorite part was the ribs. Taste, texture, pull, smoke, bark... all for ribs! The sides were ok. The beans were good and above average even for the top BBQ restaurants in Texas. The jalapeño creamed corn was just alright. It had a nice flavor but was missing something. The Cole slaw was bitter and lack luster. I added bbq sauce to the coleslaw to make it better for me. And their BBQ sauces are really good. I will go back for brisket and ribs for sure. And they have some other dishes I want to try. All in all, I recommend this Texas BBQ joint! read more

Down, right, amazing meats. If it's your first time here, mention it. They gave us some meats to sample, and omg, so good. The brisket fell apart in my mouth. Was super amazing. The sausage was very good and had a little kick to it but not to spicy. I was able to get the Garebear, I think it was called. My fiance had the big apple. She said 6 stars easy. Lol. Mine was a great sandwich, amazing. Had several meats, and the taste was just amazing. read more

Finally! After chasing a decent plate of 'cue all over East Texas for the last 40 years or so, Texarkana to Beaumont I landed at Brendyn's spot east of downtown Nacogdoches. Sat on a bench outside with my friends, shared a beer with the pitmasters, just like the sign listing the rules said to do. Their outside dining was very reminiscent of some of the old school joints you used to find on the back roads of deep East Texas. The food, though. What about the food? The front of the house staff was very helpful and downright generous with the burnt ends, short ribs at the end of the rack and the wet and dry brisket. Did the barbecue trinity of brisket, sausage and ribs. Even the dry brisket was moist and tasty with a good smoke ring. Rub was subtly spicy and not super salty, a bonus in my book. The ribs were also a little spicy, but with a slightly sweet finish. Sausage was course and juicy with a nice snap to the casing. For sides I got the jalapeno cream corn and the pinto beans. The beans were pretty good. On the creamed corn I'd recommend switching to fresh jalapeños, instead of using the pickled kind because i think it made that dish a little sour, but that's a minor quibble. So, nice joint, good atmosphere, clean inside and out. Top notch meat and sides, for the most part. However, what really drew me in and hooked me was the genuine warmth and generosity that permeates this place from the top down. Brendyn told me what he really likes to see is good people having good times and eating good food, just like me and my friends. We will be back, Brendyn, and I'll make sure we all bring one to share with the pitmasters! Thanks a million, keep up the hard work and you better believe Daniel Vaughn is on to something! Sooo good! Best bbq I've had. The brisket was tender, and you can pull the bone right out of the ribs. The corn with sour cream was good, the Mac and cheese was even better. My husband and I moved away from Texas several years ago and we find ourselves missing good barbecue often. We found ourselves in Nacogdoches and weren't expecting to find the best food, but Brendyn's blew us away! When we got to the front of the line, I asked the person behind the counter if he had extra moist brisket. He looked at me and said "well..." and then he squeezed the brisket, and so much juicy amazingness dribbled out that I felt like crying tears of joy. it was an incredible sight and one I will never forget. I could really talk about the brisket all day long. I've had amazing barbecue in Austin and Lockhart and other places all around Texas, and my husband is a native Texan, and the brisket was the best we've ever had. Like ever. We also ordered some other things, but I've pretty much forgotten all of them because WOW the brisket. read more
