This location's on Stallings, on the left before you arrive at Lowe's. Easy to turn in, or to escape with your tasty dinner fixins. Check out the menu photo: There's the usual armada of entries and desserts, served with a smile. I'm especially partial to the truly superior BBQ-baked beans. Don't over-look the tater salad, either! Their onions are sliced, not chopped, same for their dill pickles. Items can be ordered in 'bulk' or in standard meal plates. This really comes in handy when you don't know exactly how many relations will be showing up in your kitchen. If you're in the mood for a BBQ dinner that's totally non-traditional, order your bulk chopped beef with smoked sausages blended in! Trust me, it will change your BBQ world!

When I saw little roaches crawling by my tray. Then I saw another one on top of the sneeze shield above the beans and cobbler. It almost fell into the beans. My heart sunk. I had loved the food here for so long and now I am completely and suddenly disgusted. We left and have not been back since. I can't make myself go back. The owner seems to be a nice guy but it obviously did not faze him a bit. The health inspector said that they have proof that they have sprayed for roaches but somehow he let this business stay open. I was totally grossed out. Can't go back and will not suggest this business to anyone.

Onion rings are one of the hub's favorites so off we went. The restaurant is located inside an old railroad warehouse and it has a very rustic atmosphere. You can feel the history ooze from the building's pores as you slide into your seat and get ready to take in the nice sized menu selections. I had a few items picked out from different sections and Zyra our waitress helped me make the best choice. We started out with the onion rings with ranch dressing and we DEVOURED THEM! We both chose the blackened catfish and were both very pleased. The fillets were perfectly cooked with nice seasoning and topped with pico de gallo. The pico added some much welcome acidity and zestiness to the dish. I ordered the pinto beans and crispy new potatoes and they were all superb. We enjoy stopping in Nacogdoches and soaking up the history and great food that the oldest town in Texas has to offer! We will definitely return to Clear Springs. There are way too many items on that menu that I need to enjoy!

Good Food, Laid-Back Atmosphere, but Smoking Outside Was a Problem…read more The restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere, making it a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy a meal. I ordered the chicken-fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, seasonal vegetables, a small side salad, and coconut cream pie to go. Overall, the food was pretty good. The side salad was actually delicious! It tasted fresh and wasn't dry like some salads can be. My only caution is that the bacon bits were extremely hard. If you have sensitive teeth or dental issues, you may want to skip them. The main dish was good as well. I especially enjoyed the mashed potatoes, which had chunks of actual potatoes, and the gravy was tasty. The chicken-fried chicken could have been a little flatter, but it was still flavorful, especially with the gravy. The seasonal vegetables were okay, although they were a bit too watery for my liking. I also ordered the coconut cream pie to go. It was pretty good, but I've had better at other restaurants. My biggest complaint, however, was the smoking right outside the front doors. As we were leaving, people were smoking so close to the entrance that I could barely breathe. I kept telling my family to walk faster because I could only hold my breath for so long, especially after eating a full meal. It was ridiculous to have to deal with that just to leave the restaurant. People should not be smoking right next to the entrance where customers are entering and exiting. If you choose to smoke, at least have the courtesy to move away from the doors and the waiting area so others like children don't have to walk through a cloud of smoke. The food was enjoyable overall, and the laid-back atmosphere was a plus. However, the experience of leaving the restaurant was unpleasant. Management really needs to address the smoking issue.

The second thing I noticed was all the red chairs were disgustingly stained. Weird gross patterns. Apparently it was formerly a Chinese place so I guess they kept the dirty chairs. 1/5 THE BEER: The have a giant beer list which I presume is keeping with the Barkeeps name. We ordered 3 different drafts and they all came out flat. Not a good sign when you purport to be a beer joint. Must have kegs sitting around for a long time or they have no idea how to do a proper tap. The flattest beer I've ever had in my life. 1/5 THE FOOD: Getting to the menu it was not at all what I expected based on the name. Pho, Bahn Mi, Naan tacos, Asian bowls, Salads, Curries, they all looked amazing on the menu. Pictures on yelp also looked great. We ordered Samosas, Boudin Eggrolls, and Potstickers for appetizers and they were all delicious. Had never had Boudin Eggrolls before and they did not disappoint. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki bowl with cucumber, avocado, lettuce, and white rice was FANTASTIC. The sauce was delicious and all of it was delicious and fresh. Would love to order this again. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. No complaints there. 5/5 THE SERVICE: A little slow but we were a big group. 4/5 OVERALL: For the food alone I would go back again the kitchen was crushing it. I would avoid the draft beer. Wish they would update the tables and chairs. 4/5

It was a busy and a little loud Friday night so we sat at the bar. The bartenders were so friendly, welcoming and provided great service. The chicken lettuce wraps were so yummy and crunchy. I also had a beef bulgolgi taco on naan bread. It was a nice mixture of flavors that I really enjoyed. My friend had the chicken tandoori salad with ginger miso dressing. The salad was outstanding! The icing on the cake is that this place is super affordable!
