Had 3 meat platter. All three were dry. The sauce was bland and I supplemented it with hot sauce and jalapeños. The sides, beans and Mexican rice were unremarkable. Bodacious BBQ has been around a while and I have been there a few times with inconsistent experiences. For this visit I had a 3 meat plate( sliced brisket,sausage, ribs, and two sides coleslaw and potatoes salad. The sausage was quite good, Smokey flavor, moist and good snap on the skin. The ribs where tender, flavorful and didn't need anything else. The brisket is where it went flat for me. The brisket was very dry and crumbly and the flavor was like cardboard. I did not enjoy it at all, brisket is a BBQ staple and I judge joints on how well they put out a brisket. This was very disappointing for the price of $24.00. The coleslaw was a creamy slaw without it being drenched and good flavor. The potatoe salad was more like cold mashed potatoes with the fixings of potato salad mixed in. It wasn't bad at all and I enjoyed. The service was decent and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed. The dining area was clean and organized. Overall not too shabby but sadden at such a poor showing for thier brisket. read more

I've given Bodacious multiple chances (3) before writing this. Save your money and go somewhere else. I've ordered sliced brisket on each occasion and I'm not exaggerating when I say even my dog wouldn't eat it. EXTREMELY dry with no flavor. To be honest, when I opened the box the first time after arriving home I thought to myself I'd be embarrassed if I charged a customer $16 for this. Again, 3 chances, same experience. read more

Wow! Great Texas BBQ! We came here for lunch on a quick trip to the area when we were in search of BBQ. The baby back ribs were tender and smoky, the brisket was flavorful, and the potato salad and cole slaw were tasty. The sides were not amazing, but they were good the meat is the main event at a barbecue place. They also give you two slices of plain white bread, which my husband tells me is pretty standard in Texas. I didn't eat those. Texas BBQ has the sauce on the side, which I like. This place had a very nice sauce that didn't overpower but was great for dipping, etc. They smoke the meat on site. If we are back in Lufkin, I would certainly come back. Highly recommend! read more

While I admit that, coming from a big city with lots of high quality 'cue choices it might seem unfair to hold Bodacious to higher standards. At the same time I am compelled to point out the complete and entire absence of anything even remotely resembling a smoke ring on the dry, characterless brisket. The ribs were good, tender, moist, but still little smoke flavor. I had a side of beans, they were very good. Not at all salty, like everything else, thankfully. My wife had the chicken, ribs and a stuffed jalapeño, sometimes referred to as a Texas Twinky. She sais she thought the chicken had been frozen. Came out very dry, no smoke flavor and she actually thought that in the right light it was slightly green. I disagreed, but we both agreed the Texas Twinky was delicious! Her sides were cole slaw and supposedly potato salad. The slaw was White Swan/Sysco bucket o' slaw. Nothing special. The potato salad, she said, should have been called Sweet-N-Sour Potato Soup. She changed our order without us knowing (assuming it was only two people eating) and never gave us a receipt. This is my 2nd visit. Last time I picked this place from a list since we were in the area. This time I was really looking forward to going back to taste more of their moist and perfectly cooked ribs. They are to die for! They tasted just like last time! Perfection! I would like to try their brisket next time since the ribs are so delicious. If I can arrange it, I'd like to treat my family to some good Texas bbq (not always so easy to find). I also enjoy their cole slaw. I do like mine a certain way. And theirs is not vinegary, which I really appreciate. Their beans are a bit different and remind me more of a chili than regular ole bbq beans. A bit salty for me but everything here has bold flavors. BBQ sauce was left out last time so I had been waiting to try it. I do suggest you check your food before leaving the parking lot. The only thing I wished is that they had asked me if I wanted bread since I did not. I did not want any and I especially did not want them in a plastic baggie, placed directly on top of my ribs. Yes I definitely recommend this place. My personal favorite is the stuffed jalapeño peppers and half chicken, very juicy and flavorful.

They only had pork ribs left and they were great!!! Wish they hadn't sold out of brisket and sides before we got there. Would have liked to tasted them. read more

Love this place. BBQ is always good! We like to pick up by the pound and will eat on it all weekend! Easy during the summertime!

Very clean and friendly but the food was good but not great. Just average in my opinion. We were hoping for something extraordinary but as with other BBQ restaurants we've tried that have expanded to several locations they seem to be missing that personal touch. read more
