R.& K's has an outdoor covered outdoor patio that is enclosed during the winter with great heaters. We like sitting out there. They have a new menu that does not include our favorite item. So now we have a new favorite that includes fried shrimp, stuffed shrimp, fried crawfish tails, fried catfish, seafood gumbo, a hush puppy, and one side of choice. We also love their hot homemade yeast bread. Our server, Randy, was great. She was very attentive and took care of our every need. We will ask for her next time. read more

This place always has a packed parking lot, but we were seated right away. Our server was really nice, but I wish he had kept up drink refills more. I ordered the bacon wrapped filet with a side salad, my biggest complaint is that the filet was supposed to be medium rare but it leaned more rare. The filet was a bit chewy and hard to get through, but the flavor was good. The right side of the restaurant has a bar area with live music and that's pretty cool. Filet minion steak had to be sent back, still bleeding when medium well was requested. Appetigers came out pretty quickly but meal took an hour and a half after ordering for our group of 12. Drinks went empty several times. Menu states under the seafood platters that one side is included, bu then directly under seafood platter there's notation of no substitutions. Since nothing but the seafood was mentioned in the description you're led to believe that means one of the meats in the meal cannot be substituted but according to the waiter it means French fries can't be substituted without an up charge. French fries were not even listed in the description. Only one waiter for our party and the service wasn't worth the 18% tip charged on all receipts. This was a very disappointing visit. read more

Had a couple really good meals here, with excellent service. The rolls with butter were light and tasty. One night had snapped over a meaty cajun rice with lemon butter sauce and grilled shrimp. I enjoyed this, especially the sauce over the fish - very good. Had a "small" crawfish etouffee, which was sizable in itself (not a small cup, it was a real bowl) and full of crawfish. Another night had the seafood feast, which was also all good as well, I liked their hot sauce over the oysters and catfish. Service great both visits. This place used to be a good place to eat back in the day. Those days are gone. My husband got the oysters and they were teeny tiny and fried to death. The sauce on my seafood was bland, tasteless and well... just plain sad. Was supposed to have six shrimp they brought me five measly shrimp. Do yourself a favor and save yourself some "clams" and go to Tia Juanita's Fish Camp (try the Tia's Painkiller) or Pelican Point (great Hurricanes). read more

The Cajon seafood was very verry good rating 4.5 stars. The service was so very good from start to finish rating a full five stars. Went to have dinner there on Friday night with the group of people. I ordered the fried crawfish tails. When the food runner with the long bushy black hair brought us our food, I asked him could I have some tartar sauce and he said he would bring it right out. Everybody else was eating and finished their meal and our waiter had not come back and neither had the food delivery person that promised me the tartar sauce. So I just sit there and waited. By the time the waiter came back to our table to check on us, everyone at the table had finished eating and I was still waiting on the tartar sauce. Mt meal was cool now. It just absolutely ruined my whole meal. I hate it when food servers say they will get you something and then they just disappear back into the kitchen and forget about you. I brought this to the waiters attention once he came back to our table to no avail. I will not be going back to this restaurant. read more

I had the blackened fish tacos and they were served with flour tortillas. It became very chewy. I asked our very nice waitress for some corn tortillas. It made it so much better. Do t come if you are gluten-free. When asked for a gluten-free menu they said the only thing gluten-free was the chocolate cake. Not even interested in accommodations with the salads and no croutons. Just say no. With prices being high on everything it's really disappointing to spend good money on bad quality food. I'm from Louisiana and I don't expect Louisiana style food to be exactly authentic outside the state but at least try to come close. An example is the gumbo. Really simple, the roux is not supposed to be lumpy. My suggestion, if your chef is not from Louisiana then just find some good basic recipes and don't get too fancy. Great giant space when you walk in. All nice tables and chairs and you can look at the cool fish in the tanks. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. I had the seafood jambalaya with rice, shrimp, crawfish and sausage. It was a giant bowl and I had plenty of leftovers and it was delicious. Had one of their sweet mixed drinks was a bit too sweet but that's to be expected. Still worth it. Everyone else's food was excellent as well. My husband and I love this place. We ask my sister and her husband to meet us there to each which is 2 hours for the both of us. That's our halfway mark to each other. I love the ambience. The staff is very friendly. They have a lot to choose from. We had fried pickles and potato wedges for our appetizers. I had red snapper with shrimp and crap meat with sauce on top with asparagus and it was delicious. My husband had the same thing. My brother in law had the steak and said it was really good. It was so big he couldn't even finish it. My sister had shrimp, jambalaya, and etouffee with a cheese and butter sauce to dip her shrimp and bread in. Everything we had was delicious. I celebrated my 23rd birthday yesterday and I had a wonderful time with my family I don't make it into town much as it is a 2 hours commute though, I do myself work at a Cajun seafood restaurant. The food was great, I have some basis and have been with my restaurant for 2 years now however I can confidently say my meal was prepared incredibly, accompanied with a nice environment and well mannered host/lighting. I however was not impressed with my server who failed to introduce himself to the party in it's entirety. I myself had 2 Don Julio ranch waters which were beautifully crafted though my date never received a single drink despite that drink appearing on the delivered bill. Upon reading said check I realized my server was Suriel, He did not number the seat while taking orders, I myself pre-bussed the table after multiple stacks of plates found themselves between me and my guests so to expedite the area I moved them all to the end of the table which was fine. I ordered a couple orders of hush puppies to start though they did not arrive with the appetizers ordered in full so I informed my server. My aunt, who recommended this location to me unfortunately was one of 3 guests who did not receive they're entree on time, including my date and grandmother, after I asked the server, he said "the chef forgot to make her ribeye" shortly after this, he returned to asked if she would like a side or soup for the mean time. Which, I responded by requesting that the side she ordered with her ribeye come out alone as everyone else was already served, Suriel brought her braised potatoes out per my request and assured us, she would be served soon. When her plate was brought out he added a baked potato unprompted, I assume this was because her side of braised potatoes had by then been finished. My aunt assured me the service was typically of higher standard, as my family frequents this location specifically. I asked the host for boxes, bags and dessert plates to distribute the dessert my mother had purchased in advance for my celebration, as we had concluded our entrees by this point, the host was prompt and polite. The server delivered the checks and the chaos of having not appropriately organizing the check initially began to show itself, I'd like to add that as a supervisor/server myself I understand a table of 16 with 3 children can be slightly overwhelming, though no one in my party changed seats after initially ordering starter drinks. When checks were presented 5 out of the 8 checks were disorganized. I took it upon myself to ask each group in my party which checks were correct and paired a credit card which the 3 correctly rang tickets. I instructed my server that checks 3,6&8 were correct and could be closed out to more easily "connect the dots" elsewhere. After which, those of my guests thanked me and left the restaurant. Everyone else worked with Suriel to correctly place the remaining items and after a 2-3 minute back and forth, he crumbled the remaining 5 tickets and stated "why don't we start over" taking each guests order back down in groups by seat numbers to place the items correctly. After 15 minutes of waiting he returned with tickets in hand and said his pos (computer system) crashed on him twice in one term of usage, explaining his delay in returning to the remaining group. I reviewed each of the 5 tickets and can confidently say that all in all I had a wonderful birthday surrounded by those who I haven't seen in a very long time and despite the, missing (comped) alcohol, sporadic entree delivery, and lake of pre-bussing, am very pleased with the meal I personally received. I initially requested a house Paloma however they did not have grapefruit on hand which is totally understandable, as it was not listing in the provided menu, though I would have loved for it to elevate the incredibly constructed ranch waters I did receive. I'm excited to return with my family though I can say that I will be requesting to be seated in the live music area next time, of course having a party of 16 was the reason we did not do so last night. All in all I enjoyed the food that's for sure! read more
