1/2 the menu for you to consider.

We had a craving for local fried fish so went to the Catfish King. I wish I'd tried it years ago. The food is tasty, very filling and the service very friendly. I chose the lunch special for $7.99 3 catfish strips, 2 hush puppies, coleslaw, home style French fries and a drink. Was more than I could eat and that rarely happens! Also, I found they have a 50% veteran discount, one per veteran. Since I and my sister are veterans we both got the discount. I would eat there regularly without a discount after trying it but with the discount will become an extreme regular! I noticed they also serve shrimp, oysters, and chicken fried steak so will have to report back after another visit!

Great catfish fried well. Great prices. French fries were good not soggy or old. Maybe a bit too many. Hush puppies were a bit strange, taste like the rest of the fried items. This restaurant as well as most others everywhere still serve ketshup with high fructose corn syrup. Come on take the leap to start changing our food for the better! Service is order at the counter. We ordered close to rush time and the food came out fast. Tables not too close to each other. No loud music or noise

This is a classic place to enjoy fried catfish and chicken. I've been eating here for 20 years. Their consistent quality is rare these days. Also they've added fried oysters and shrimp to the menu. While these late arrivals to the menu are very good, the namesake catfish is still "king" (pun intended). By they have a nice, fresh salad bar and delicious hush puppies with every meal. Prices are below average as an added bonus. If you're passing through Lufkin using the loop 287 bypass, give them a try.

Great fish at reasonable prices. This place desperately needs a deep-cleaning, though.

The food here is good but I think it's crazy that they charge $1.75 to put Cajun seasoning on your fish instead of regular seasoning.

Catfish is delish! Always on point. I recommend bringing the entire Family. I've tried everything and I've yet to be disappointed.

Very typical East Texas catfish dinner. The food and the service were excellent. Both the cashier and the waitress were extremely friendly.

Pro tip there is a huge amount of road construction around the restaurant so plan accordingly. We were greeted and sat promptly. Karen our server came and greeted us and got our drink order. I went to the restroom, it was clean but in need of a cosmetic upgrade. The restaurant itself was clean and had a Louisiana feel. My wife ordered the Salmon med rare, and she said it was excellent. I ordered the shrimp quesadillas and I was impressed by the buttered flavor of the flour tortilla that was crispy on the edges. I also was pleased with the amount of shrimp and cheese. The guacamole and the pico were fresh and tasty. For appetizers tried the Pistolette and were not overly impressed. The Boudin Balls and sauce were very good. I think they could have been a little spicier, but they were great. The bread pudding was just average in my opinion, but my wife loved it. My wife and I agreed that this will be one our go to stops when driving through Lufkin.

Having humble & genteel personality while being a menu wizard, she made me feel right at home with her hospitality. My Oysters Royale cooked by Michael were fantastically perfect & delicious. I should've gotten the dozen instead of the 1/2. Being it's my first time, I had to make sure they were on point first & they were! I loved the charro bean side that came with rice & sausage bits topped with pico. The hush puppies are decent with some garlic butter you might want to dive into like it's the Summer Olympic swimming relays. The music and atmosphere was nice & festive. The booths are comfortable & being solo, the 2 person sized ones were perfect for me. Lufkin has a mainstay that most towns would be jealous to have. Come eat here & leave satisfied. Bring all your friends! You can't go wrong here with Tia Jaunita's. You just might want to camp out here.

We walked up to the window and a really sweet lady took our order and we walked to get our drinks. The entire place is outside whith an awning which is cool! The chairs and tables were a bit weathered but I think it made it feel more southerly and homely. Shortly after our food arrived, we ordered 2lbs of snow crab, 1lb of crawfish, boudin sausage and some quail eggs. The snow crabs were pretty tiny and not very fresh, the crawfish were big fat and juicy while the boudin sausage was kind of lacking in flavor but the sauce it came with was yummy! We also were shorted a corn and potatoe and we still to this day have not tried the quail eggs! (they are jarred and pickled). We would go back but probably not for the crab but tjust the crawfish, the ambiance and the great service. Remember it's BYOB!

They have some soft drinks for purchase, but it's largely BYOB. The menu is pretty simple: order crawfish and shrimp by the pound, and extra potatoes, corn, and sausage are available separately. They feature an outstanding boudin in huge links; make sure you don't miss this. Our group of four adults loaded up with a platter of three pounds of bugs, a pound of shrimp, and extra corn and potatoes for everyone. We brought beer and soft drinks, and dug in. The crawfish were plump, easy to peel and devein, and seasoned to perfection. Shrimp were already cleaned and the shells were precut to make peeling a breeze. They were large, firm, and went great with the horseradish forward cocktail sauce. Potatoes were small and perfectly cooked, and were clinging to the wonderful boil spices and salt. Corn was a little soft, but delicious. After you demolish your haul, there's a washbasin outside to get clean, and they even have lemon juice to help stop the heat. Bottom line, this is a great place to get your Cajun on, whether you're from the swamps, or just appreciate the cuisine. And it's right here in Lufkin! Check 'em out!
