My wife and I use to eat at the other location on North Steet way back when we in college here. It had been years since we had been in Nacogdoches, but events brought us back, and we were determined to go back and hit this place up (the original had closed years ago). The town has changed considerably since we went to school here, but finding this location was easy as it is on the main road. Parking is easy as they have a big lot, and we were able to get near the entrance. We walked in and memories came flooding back. We knew exactly what we wanted to order, chopped beef for me, and chopped pork for my wife. Unfortunately, they were out of her pork today, so my wife ended up with the chopped beef too. Service was friendly, quick, and efficient. Orders were placed and food was delivered quickly. As we had one of our dogs with us waiting in the car, we had to take the food to go. We could have eaten inside as the weather was unseasonably cold for this time of year, but we couldn't do that to our dog. The sandwich was just as I remembered and still tasted like they used the same seasoning and sauce (that's a good thing). In this day of high prices, we found the prices to be very reasonable (although it was much higher than when we were in school-lol. Will I return? If I am ever back in Nacogdoches, no doubt that you will find me coming here.

I got the rib plate and all of my rib where among the best cuts of meat I've seen. The ribs were lean, tasty and cooked very good. However I'm only giving three stars because the house bbq sauce is not that good bad enough that I asked for another sauce. They did not have any options so it's a bbq place with only one bad bbq sauce: very disappointing.

Workers don't wear gloves or hairnets and touch the food. Chipped beef sandwich was just slopped together. I won't be back.

We arrived around 1pm on a Saturday so we were sweating that a place that was on the 2025 Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ joints list may have a line or worse be sold out Lucky for us we arrived to front row parking and a short line inside the door. Super nice folk! Matt is one of the pit masters and was leading the cutting line for us. We pretty much had rehearsed our order as we had plenty of time to study the menu. Brisket, Ribs, Sausage, jalapeno poppers, and potato salad. The brisket was near perfection with a deep smoke ring, moist, tender, well-rendered, simply seasoned, with an excellent crust that had slight crunch. Ribs were also fantastic - meaty, smoky, and slightly sweet. Sausage was some of the best I've had this year. Potato salad was a memorable, creamy mustard style for us potato salad junkies. The restaurant seating is not big area but they have plenty of covered outdoor-seating. Lots of fun signage to gawk at too. Our bonus was a personalized pit tour with Matt. So fun learning about their process, learning the story of the pits they have acquired, and the secret to their brisket's crunchy crust. Get there! You will be rewarded

The restaurant was clean, well-maintained, and had a welcoming atmosphere. Once we reached the counter, the staff greeted us warmly and had our order ready in no time. The drink station was also clean and well-stocked, and we quickly found a seat to enjoy our meal. Everything was presented nicely and looked absolutely delicious. The ribs were the standout for me--tender, juicy, and nearly falling off the bone. They were so flavorful that I didn't even need BBQ sauce. My wife really enjoyed the moist brisket, and we both loved the mac and cheese. The half chicken was well-seasoned and stayed juicy, while the sausage had great flavor and a satisfying snap. The only reason for four stars instead of five was a couple of the side dishes. We tried the jalapeño cream corn, which used pickled jalapeños. The flavor was a little unusual for our taste, though it may simply be a style we aren't accustomed to. The potato salad was also more tart than we expected. That said, we still finished everything on our plates! Overall, it was a great experience with excellent barbecue, friendly service, and a clean dining area. We'll definitely stop by Brendyn's again when we're in the area. Go check them out

I also ordered a "side salad," which was large enough for a meal if it had some chicken with it. My wife and son devoured the onion rings and both raved at how delicious they were. But the CFS at Clear Springs has renewed my faith in greasy, salty carb-loading. The steak itself was big enough to be a solid presence on my plate, and the crust was perfectly seasoned and adhered to the meat properly. The cream gravy was a little bit bland, but that's what hot sauce and pepper are for. The fries were on the skinny side, but fresh, perfectly cooked and well seasoned, and the Cole Slaw was tasty--that little nod to eating my vegetables. But, oh, the Texas toast, that carb bomb of margarine-laden white bread I love nearly as much as I love my mother! The restaurant, housed in an old railway Depot building is cool and creaky, and pleasantly full of weird vintage stuff like old bicycles and prosthetic legs, wonderfully pure Texas kitsch. Add to that a tattoo-covered server who was friendly, efficient, and kept this thirsty traveler's ice water full, and you have a great addition to a holiday weekend.

I had the BLT with the optional egg and it was okay, nothing to write home about. Coffee was good. Restaurant and toilets were clean and from the sign posted in the men's room, it is highly rated (lol). Nothing like some bathroom humor! Makes you feel like you're in a Texas country town for sure! My daughter and I were in Nacogdoches for college visit to SFA and we looked this place up in the hopes that we would find something different than a normal chain stop. It certainly is different and was exactly what you might imagine. Everything on the menu is decently priced and it seems that Tuesday is the place to be with short stack specials for $2 along with the weekday breakfast special at $6.95 On of my daughter's favorite meals is chicken fried steak and what better place to try that than a local diner??? Unfortunately it fell below expectations. The portions were quite large, enough that we could have just split a plate. The idea of sausage gravy on top of the mashed potatos and steak sounds heavy but also potentially fantastic. However both the gravy and the fry were quite under seasoned. I was able to fix mine with some cholula sauce and some salt and pepper was a quick fix as well for my daughter. The side of green beans and carrots she got were actually pretty good so perhaps there was just a disconnect in flavor at the meat station this day. I did very much enjoy the side salad I chose instead of the veggie medley. Came with home-made ranch which brought me back to my East Texas family gatherings with the freshly shaken ranch.....it was great. The portion size was pretty fair value at $13. Like I said we could have just split it between us. Very hit or miss flavors leaves this at a 3-stars for me. But no doubt some of the nicest folks in town work here.
