We have had lunch at Rustica's several times and I apologize for being delinquent about taking the time to review this wonderful restaurant. The place has a busy drive-thru business and the inside seating area is also very busy at lunch time. The food is really good and the staff is very accommodating. We can tell hot coffee is not in big demand but they brew fresh coffee especially for us each time. The inside dining area is relatively small and it is always very clean. The decor is what I would call a modern diner with a walk-up counter that serves inside walkup takeout customers as well as servicing the drive thru window. Table service is provided for inside seating by the counter staff so they are very busy. Check out the menu and stop by, you won't be disappointed. read more

Driving home on a road trip between Tyler and Houston we found Rustica on the Maps app and stopped for lunch. It was 1:05pm when we arrived and they were already out of the day's special (Cuban Bowl)! I ordered the Salad Trio and my husband the Philly Cheesesteak. We loved each of our meals. Um, I have no idea why this place isn't popular far and wide. Super easy to like every aspect of what they offer. The five of us in our party all got different things, and all of them were tasty. I got the braised brisket sandwich with the aioli. Other people got the gyro salad, the chicken tenders with their fake Cain's sauce, the apple walnut chicken salad sandwich, and the torta sandwich. We also had some fries and carrot cake to share. The only complaints anyone had was the chicken salad had too much mayo, and the chicken tenders meal was too small. Super cute new little lunch place to pop into. I've seen they've made a few grab and go options shared on their Facebook - great idea!! The genius behind the grab and go options is they aren't exactly menu items and really just a gem they decided to whip up to try. Follow heir Facebook for updates. My favorite aspect of this whole restaurant is the "globally inspired" part. This is the ONLY place I have found Thai vermicelli in this area and I about died in happiness. I've also seen them make curry chicken. I haven't seen a place that serves watermelon cooler since an adorable little farmers market when I lived on the coast. It was everything you want in a watermelon cooler - fresh, smooth and real watermelon taste (no fake flavors here) The vermicelli is best authentically served in a bowl which they were willing to do. The only improvement I have is for the chicken to be warm. Authentic vermicelli is a cold salad with warm grilled meats. The fish sauce was just the right amount in a small container. I was offered more, but it was the perfect amount. Vermicelli doesn't need to be drowned in sauce. Also ordered the chilorio torta... holy meaty cheesy goodness. I stole the pickled onions and added them to my vermicelli. Yum!!! Sandwiches aren't my thing, but they nailed the glorious cheesiness. We were provided a sample of the grape walnut salad. Fresh fruit, light cream mixture and delicious walnuts. Can I eat this everyday?! It's a dessert but a side dish at the same time. You won't be able to stop eating it. We were also provided a sample of the broccoli salad with a lovely surprise of bacon. (Happy belly again). The broccoli salad wasn't heavy on the tangy mayo to bind it either, they let the broccoli speak for itself. We'll be back for sure. I'm only sad I have to drive from Nacogdoches. read more

We found this place while passing thru! We called in an order as we were in the area to get truck parts! The young man who answered was very friendly and professional. When we picked up the order both young men at the front were once again friendly and professional 5 star. The place was clean, the ambiance was relaxing 5 star. I ordered the Ruben with their disco fries and the hubby ordered the chicken salad sandwich and 2 pieces of cake. The food was 5 star. The fish and hush puppies are very good. The beans are good; however, the sugar (or whatever makes them sweet) could be left out for those of us avoiding sugar. The portion size was very small for the coleslaw and the tartar sauce were both very small. Overall, the food and tea are very good. read more

After checking Yelp, chose Rustica's based on the reviews. Staff was welcoming and courteous. I had a muffuletta - delicious, but not as spicy as I am used to, olive tapenade was delicious. Husband had a brisket sandwich - tender and delicious, the aioli sauce was a real plus. Split an order of fries - generous, seasoned well, and made from real potatoes. No short-cuts here, and I would get my own fries next time! Simply decorated and meticulously clean. Would be a great choice any time, and they plan to start serving breakfast next week. This was a one-time experience for us as we are traveling and may not be in Lufkin again. A VERY welcome alternative to fast food on a road trip! read more

We have made Rustica's one of our weekly lunch/ early dinner spots. The food is always fresh and homemade and the desserts. I love walking in and the owners/staff remembering us and make us feel welcome . Portions are always generous. Great place to have a quieter lunch or go with a big group. Unfortunately the menu is so incredibly limited, that unless the lease is super cheap, they won't be around long in this incredibly uncultured town. I do not know why I haven't eaten here before. The food was phenomenal and the service was excellent. I had the beer braised brisket on brioche with caramelized onions and red pepper aioli. The brisket melted in my mouth. I also had a cup of the tortilla soup. It was creamer than other tortilla soups I've had but I was pleasantly surprised. I sampled the spaghetti salad. Whoever heard of spaghetti salad, right? My skepticism scored me a sample and it was wonderful. As if the great food wasn't enough the 2 ladies that served us were charming and efficient. A gem! This place has the best food, we tried one of each of their sandwiches and they were all amazing! The torta was juicy, gooey and full of flavor, the porchetta had a soft fluffy roll with tender, crispy skinned pork and a fresh sauce, the Philly cheesesteak was tender, unctuous with a beautifully toasted roll. The "disco" fries were homemade, and the best fries I've ever had. My husband had the grape salad and says it his new favorite thing! My sister let me try her fresh watermelon juice and I can't wait to go back for my own. Please frequent this local business and keep this delicious food in Lufkin for a long time! read more
