You order at the counter, and then they give you a number. You self seat and they will deliver your food, as well as clean your table when you leave. Several of us enjoyed the pick two option. All of our sandwiches and salads tastes fresh and had good flavors. If I ever come across a Newk's again, I would definitely pay another visit. read more

Last time I've been to Newk's was when I visited Mississippi which was years ago. I came on in today with my sibling. I would have eaten at a local mom and pop spot being that it was my first time in Lufkin, however, the only place I could find that was vegetarian friendly, but easy to make their meals vegan was Newk's. I ordered the Newk's favorite salad without cheese and meat. Surprisingly, it was actually delicious and satisfying! I cleaned the bowl. There was just one shred of cheese in the bowl which I made myself clear no cheese, but it was easy to remove. The sherry vinaigrette was the bomb.com. I liked how it marinated with the artichokes and the salad mix. It was nice sweet touch with the cranberries and red grapes. The salad was light, but fulfilling. The location wasn't the cleanest, but they only had one chick bussing tables, running the register, and handing out plates. This sole chick even prepared my salad. It would be nice if she could get paid more than minimum wage for doing the most work, but unfortunately that's not how jobs operate in this day and age. The interior of this establishment was quite outdated and "beat up". There was a lingering odor of something not food related that I could not pinpoint. read more

You know the resturant is good when it's packed. The restrooms were clean and the server was friendly.

The cashier was great. The woman in front of me kept saying she was getting a "pick three" and wanted full size salad, sandwhich and Mac and cheese. The cashier made sure she was in fact wanting full size menu items and charged her for them. The customer kept saying it was a pick 3. My first impression when walking in to Newk's was wow, this place is beautiful, clean, and very modern looking with nice background music, I can't wait to eat! They have menu boards at the entrance listing several pizza, sandwich, and salad choices. You order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table. As you head to your table you pass a beautiful condiment bar with sport peppers, garlic cloves, and pickled watermelon rind amongst other things. Very chic! Unfortunately, the food did not measure-up to the lovely restaurant ambiance. My Spicy Sicilian pizza was very bland with no hint if spice, none. My husband's sausage and pepperoni pizza was better because the sausage was very flavorful. However, both pizzas had soggy crusts and tasted just like frozen pizzas. No freezer burn, it just tasted like a Totino's, or some other frozen pizza variety... something you might serve to kids. I mentioned my disappointment to the cashier and she was very sweet and understanding, no attitude whatsoever. She assured me that all of their pizzas are hand rolled and made in-house, then she took the time to tell me about some other menu items she thought I might like. I thought she handled the situation very nicely. I also ordered a side Greek salad which was delicious! It was loaded with feta, kalamata olives, onions, and tomatoes. I would definitely order it again. In fact, because this salad was so good, I would recommend trying it as well as one of their other specialty salads, and maybe a sandwich. Great place to get food super fast. It's very clean in this place. Personnel very friendly and food is so good. Very tasty and fresh!

This location has been open for two days. With that being said, they are bending over backwards to make everyone happy. The service I received was pretty good but you can tell the employees are new at their jobs. That should improve with time. I ordered the roast beef sandwich and the lobster and crab bisque. The sandwich was good. The bisque was a little heavy on the cream. It had a crab and lobster taste but there were no lumps of meat of any kind in the bisque. When I asked about it, they told me that all soups and desserts are made in their bakery in Mississippi and delivered to the store. She really didn't know if the bisque was supposed to have any lumps of meat in it or not. I'll probably be back to Newk's but I won't order the bisque. They do have catering options if you need them. They also have online ordering and carry-out. I hate to give a brand new restaurant only 3-stars but that is all they get from me. read more

I was on business travel and was in the mood for pizza. It was my first time to Newk's. As soon as I walked in I was greeted to make my order at the counter. The atmosphere was clean and modern. I had the option of ear in or take out. Sense I was near the hotel I got my pizza to go. I got a sausage and pepperoni pizza. For me it was just the right size for a meal. Wow, congrats! I never thought I would 1 Star ya. Empty restaurant and seven tables filled with crap, employees hanging about and just ignoring the tables. Asked for a salad with dressing on the side and no tomatoes. Received a drowned salad with plenty of tomatoes. Kiddo ordered broccoli cheddar soup so salty it was pretty much inedible. Wifey ordered a pizza with extra artichokes that we paid for and she received about half as normal. Server had the attitude of a person complacent in their job with no chance of getting fired. A bit rude, to say the least. Congrats NEWKS you are consistent at being inconsistent. Response to owner: When they are on it, the food, service and facilities are great. It's just never consistent. This has been since the place opened. I have talked to managers and written reviews and it's the same thing. We are averaging a 33% rate of bad experiences at your restaurant. This is very similar to McAlister's. You go up to the counter and order then seat yourself and your food is brought to your table. I ordered the Southern Salad. It is a very large salad. The chicken salad was very good with lots of chicken and not majority of fillers like grapes. I also had the chocolate cake from the cooler. I normally will not order pre-sliced cake because it is usually dry. However, this cake was very moist and the cake to icing ratio was perfect. I would definitely go back- maybe just for that cake. read more

My son and I visited Newk's for lunch, as the place was not very busy mid-afternoon. We each had a sandwich and soup, and he also got a salad. Even though the place was fairly deserted, there were no clean tables, so we ended up sitting at a large booth. Since I had recently had some dental work done, I asked that my sandwich be made on soft bread instead of the usual hard kind. When our order arrived, 40 minutes later, our soup was cold and the bread on my sandwich was rock hard. No apologies were offered about any of the problems. But the saddest part was that the owner was seated at the next table over. Never did she get up and offer to help the workers nor clean off any of the tables. Needless to say, we were very disappointed with our visit, and probably won't go back, as it seems the prices do not reflect the food nor the service. read more

I love the Farmers market sandwich. It's so delicious! I usually order a half sandwich and a cup of soup. The tomato soup is my favorite that they make. I also love the chicken pesto sandwich. You can't go wrong with either of these choices. The staff is efficient and friendly. Their catering service is great too. They catered my brothers rehearsal dinner. I was in charge of arranging it and the staff made it super easy for me to do. I am glad Lufkin has a place like this to enjoy. Good job Newks! read more

First time eating at Newks, I would have to say it was okay. I think it is a twist between Panera bread and Cafe Express. Large variety of items. I ordered the chicken salad, chicken chili, and strawberry cake. I liked the chicken chili soup very much and the cake was good. With many items to try-out, I will return. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and simple salad. When I went to pick my food up I was ignored by staff for a good 5 mins they were standing around laughing and talking . When someone finally did get to me, she seemed nice enough. The pizza was cold, looked nothing like it does online( where I ordered it, this was my first time ordering). The crust was doughy, not crispy as they state. It was not strong enough to hold the toppings of the pizza, the pizza drooped. The taste was ok and I think I only say that because I was extremely hungry. I gave it one star because the salad was good and the cups are pretty. I will not be going back though and I would never recommend anyone to go not for the prices that don't live up to the food and service. read more
